15 months ago at the Elle Style Awards, 26-year-old Taylor Swift and 32-year-old Calvin Harris were introduced to each other by mutual friend, Ellie Golding. Just one week later, the famous "Talvin" relationship was made official after they both attended the Brit Awards - holding hands! *gasp* Fans swooned over every Instagram photo the couple posted and even "Swan Goals" was born when they were pictured together on the giant inflatable.
Although they appeared happy together, it was sadly not meant to be and the pair called it quits this week. They had recently celebrated a 12 month milestone with a romantic Caribbean getaway and a "1 year" cake. The international DJ had also bought Taylor a special necklace with the special date "3-6-2015" engraved on it.
So what the heck went so wrong?! Here we look at the eleven possible reasons behind the split of our favorite celebrity couple.
11 Taylor Swift Wanted "Marriage and Babies"
The 32-year-old Scottish DJ allegedly bailed on the relationship after it emerged that Taylor Swift wanted "marriage and babies." Such a giant step in the 15-month relationship was too much for him, as a source told Us Weekly: "She used to talk about their future a lot - marriage, babies. And although he wants all of that, it just felt a bit like she was all full-steam ahead, whereas he is more of a slow and steady, let things progress organically, kind of guy."
It was clear they both had different ideas for the future and the pair went their separate ways. The source added: "She discovered they were on different paths in the last few weeks. It wasn't that they weren't happy, but when she raised the subject of their future it became clear they do not want the same thing at the same time."
10 Calvin Harris Was "Intimidated By Her Success"
Collectively Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris had a total net worth of over a billion (yes, a billion!) and over 180 million fans online between them. When they became an official item they were worth more than music's reigning power couple, Beyonce and Jay-Z. However, according to Taylor's close friend - Calvin was still intimidated by his girlfriend's success.
They told PEOPLE magazine, "(Calvin) said on multiple occasions that he was intimidated by Taylor, which is why he would not attend any events where she was being honored, or any award shows unless he was nominated." This would be a reference to his absence from the Met Gala this year, which Taylor co-chaired, and the Grammys a couple of months before. They added: "Taylor is an independent young woman, and she realizes it will take a very secure man to handle her success." It appears that Calvin just isn't that man.
9 Taylor Swift Wasn't There For Him After His Car Crash
If it wasn't for Calvin Harris being a famous star himself then we would have no idea Taylor Swift's boyfriend had been in a serious car accident. There was no outpouring of sympathies, or sweet "Get Well Soon" message from Taylor following Calvin's collision in Los Angeles, which had him hospitalised with a deep cut to the face.
A statement on Calvin's official Facebook page read: "(Calvin's) transport was involved in a collision this evening on the way to the airport. As a result he will be unable to perform at Omnia tonight. He has been examined by doctors and told to rest for a few days. Calvin HQ." Taylor's social media however was quiet on the matter and showed no love whatsoever.
8 Calvin Harris Couldn't Stand The "Squad" Coming First
Taylor Swift is the ringleader of her "Squad" which includes Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Jamie King, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne, Ellie Golding and Lena Dunham. All these girls are pretty much inseparable and in Taylor's eyes they must always come first. A source told PEOPLE magazine, "He just doesn't like the hoopla with the squad and all of that. He doesn't like to have cameras in his face all the time. He's a private guy."
According to another report in Life & Style magazine, Calvin was slowly starting to become sick of always being the second best option. They reported last September: "Calvin has become increasingly frustrated by Taylor constantly putting her friends before him. He feels likes he's in a relationship with the whole gang. He wants to make it work with Taylor but he's made it clear that something needs to change." It appears nothing comes before #SquadGoals.
7 Taylor Swift Is Too Intense
Taylor Swift has been described many times in the past as "intense" and this could be one of the major factors that caused the split. For laid-back Calvin, it was all a bit too much and a source confirmed to Yahoo!: "Taylor is very intense professionally, and on a personal level too. She's a great girl, but she's used to having things her way. Adam's not a yes man. It got a bit too heavy for him."
After all this is the girl who purchased more than $100,000 worth of Beatles memorabilia for her ex-boyfriend, One Direction singer Harry Styles, and not to mention the catalogue of songs she has dissing previous loves.
6 Calvin Harris Is Still In Touch With His Exes
Taylor was supposedly livid when she discovered Calvin was still in touch with his ex-girlfriends and would text them regularly. International Business Times reported, "She still has her own trust issues left over from other relationships, so the idea of him texting with his exes will be hard for her to take - she won't be happy about it."
They reported that Calvin understood she had trust issues she has never gotten over from the past but he was willing to work through it. They added: "For one thing, he never hides his phone. It might sound small, but it's a big thing for Taylor because all her ex-boyfriends were major freaks about their phones. They'd never let her get near them."
5 Taylor Swift Doesn't Like Rihanna
Taylor Swift and Rihanna have beef that goes way back. Early last year, Katy had Rihanna's back when the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards didn't include BBHMM video in the nominations, calling it a "real travesty!" and Rihanna also tweeted she should have been on the list. However, Taylor was nominated and she read this as major shade being thrown at her. Rihanna also took a stab at Taylor's good girl image, when NME magazine asked if the two would ever collaborate, she replied, "I don't think I would. I don't think it makes sense. There is no denying Taylor Swift is close to her mom and some fans are speculating whether she had persuaded her daughter to call off the relationship. Taylor's latest Instagram post, which was published just days before the breakup, shows her enjoying a BBQ with Andrea Swift in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.
The timing between the two events were so close, many believe Andrea gave Taylor the final push she needed to end the romance. Although it appeared all three got along, Andrea has always wanted the best for her daughter and would never encourage her to stay in an unhappy relationship.

Another reality this couple had to face is that they just weren't compatible. One source told E! News: "Friends were even surprised it lasted this long because of the lack of chemistry."
