12 Best Pregnancy Announcements Ever
There have been some celebrity pregnancies over the years so shocking that we are still trying to process them even now. Often we don't find out about a pregnancy until a growing bump begins to emerge, or the first magazine exclusive has been sold, or when the baby mama emerges in the tabloids to tell all. It's safe to say - where baby news is concerned there is never a dull day in celebrity land.
Often celebrities like to make us feel as if they are above us personally and professionally. But when the drama begins and family life becomes dysfunctional - that's when we realize that maybe they are just like us after all.
12 Janet Jackson
Janet Jackson shocked the world when she announced last week that she was having her first ever child - at 49-years-old. She postponed her Unbreakable tour and posted a video to fans via Twitter which explained, "We're in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change. I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family, so I'm going to have to delay the tour. Please, if you could try and understand that it's important that I do this now."
Jackson, who is married to business magnate and executive 41-year-old Wissam Al Mana, added, "I have to rest up, doctor's orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can." A source told E! news that the couple, who have been married since 2012, consulted a fertility expert to help them get pregnant.
11 Snooki
Back in 2012, 24-year-old Snooki, who had overnight fame cat-fighting and passing out drunk on MTV's Jersey Shore, exclusively revealed to Us Weekly that she was expecting her first child with fiancé Jionni LaValle. She told the magazine, "I have different priorities now. I don't care what anybody else thinks. As long as I know I'm ready and he's ready." Much to everyone's relief she also confirmed she would be leaving the cast of Jersey Shore explaining, "I don't want to be one of those moms who's pregnant in a club. It's disgusting."
In August that year, she gave birth to her son Lorenzo Dominic LaValle. Motherhood clearly suited her as two years later she gave birth to a daughter, Giovanna Marie LaValle. Shortly after she married Jionni LaValle - who would have thought Snooki would have ended up a doting wife and mother.
10 Louis Tomlinson
One Direction star Louis Tomlinson was in a relationship with his childhood sweetheart, student Eleanor Calder, for nearly four years. His fame, busy schedule and permanent move to the U.S eventually split the two up in March 2015. Then only three months later, he announced that he was expecting a baby with 23-year-old Los Angeles stylist, Briana Jungwirth. Sources close to the star said the pregnancy came as a "complete surprise" to him. In January 2016, their son Freddie Reign was born. Then the One Direction fans took over…
They created a conspiracy online that Louis and Briana's baby was a fake - comparing her changing eye colour from Instagram to paparazzi pictures online. They also compared baby Freddie's feet to stock images online saying they appeared "too similar". The hashtag "#WheresFreddie" was created. However, the last straw was when MTV put a post on Instagram blanking out baby Freddie's face with a large question mark. The post had over 10,000 comments and even a horrified Briana wrote: "Sorry but this is just cruel. I don't usually speak out much, but I would like to know how you would feel as a proud mother reading this post? How dare anyone call my child fake. That's sick and morally wrong." Since then the conspiracy theory has appeared to have died down.
9 Simon Cowell
Simon Cowell, or as he's better known "Mr Nasty", has grown a reputation over the years for being cold, ruthless and critical on his talent shows American Idol and X Factor. Which is why it came as such a shock when he announced in 2013 he was having his first child. 53-year-old Simon and his girlfriend, 36-year-old Lauren Silverman, were said to be delighted and it all just "happened naturally."
Then came the twist to the tale - Lauren was still married to Andrew Silverman when she announced the pregnancy. Andrew is (or perhaps more likely now: was) Simon's best friend. The pair had been married for ten years, Andrew filed for an at-fault divorce in New York, citing adultery by his wife and naming Simon as a co-respondent but according to pop star mogul "That's all been settled now." In February the following year, Simon and Lauren welcomed their son Eric into the world.
8 Jamie-Lynn Spears
Jamie-Lynn Spears shocked her fans when she announced she was pregnant at only 16-years-old. She told Glamour magazine that she was "too embarrassed" to ask her doctor for birth control, revealing, "I believe in safety and birth control as prevention. But like many young girls… I was really scared to go to the doctor. And I was on a Nickelodeon show, and it (felt) especially embarrassing to ask someone to put me on birth control. I didn't want to ask my doctor."
Jamie-Lynn had been dating 18-year-old Casey Aldridge for two years before falling pregnant. Many accused her of "glamorizing" teen pregnancy after she appeared on the cover of OK! holding her growing bump. She said, "I decided to do an interview with OK!. I knew I needed to give an explanation to my fans, and I wanted it to be in my words first. I did feel responsible for the young girls and the mothers who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn't trying to glamorize teen pregnancy. Everybody is dealt a hand of cards. It was my choice to play them the way I played them." The pressure became too much for the young couple to stay together and they went their separate ways. Since 2014, Jamie-Lynn has been happily married to businessman Jamie Watson.
7 Sean "P Diddy" Combs
P Diddy and Kim Porter were together for over ten years, they had a son together named Christian before Porter fell pregnant again in 2007 with twins, D'Lila Star and Jessie James. Then came the rumours that the Bad Boy For Life rapper had got another woman pregnant. Porter told Essence magazine, "I laid low and did what women do: I did my background work, collected information (about the other woman)." She eventually discovered that P Diddy had cheated and the baby was already five months old.
Porter explained, "We stand by our man, through thick and thin, through whatever. But if you feel like, 'Maybe I am getting the short end of the stick,' that's when a change has to take place." Before she added, "It's not an original script. He's not the first man who's cheated. He's not the first man who's had a baby outside of his relationship. He's not the originator of this. But at this point in my life - I have girls now - it's a different program."
6 Kourtney Kardashian
In 2014, Kourtney Kardashian shocked Scott Disick when she announced on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashian that she was pregnant. In the episode, she invites him into a walk-in closet and asks him to shut the door before she announces, "I just wanted to tell you that I am pregnant." Scott burst into a fit of rage and ranted, "You just keep suckering me into these kids. I can't handle all of this responsibility. Were you gonna wait (to tell him) 'til the kid popped out of ya?" Kourtney snapped back, "I was not planning this. Responsibility for what? You have two children." Scott replied, "I just can't take care of more kids."
That Christmas, Reign Aston Disick was born. He is now the younger brother Penelope and Mason.
5 Jessica Simpson
Jessica Simpson caused quite the stir when she announced she was expecting her second child just four months after giving birth to her daughter, Maxwell. Simpson had already faced harsh criticism for gaining so much weight during her pregnancy. She told Jay Leno on The Tonight Show, "I was really happy to be pregnant and I didn't ever step on the scale, I didn't realize you could gain that much weight that quickly. I didn't really make any healthy, good decisions."
Simpson managed to lose a staggering 50-lbs since giving birth only to fall pregnant again and put on another 25-lbs. After her son Max was born, she tried again to lose the baby weight. This year, the singer-turned-fashion-designer posted a few racy snaps on Instagram just to let the world know that she has now found her happy medium.
4 Chris Brown
Just when we thought Chris Brown had left the drama behind, after he ended his turbulent relationship with Rihanna, he had plenty more for us. He confirmed via an Instagram post that he had fathered a baby daughter named Royalty with Nia Guzman. This then caused the split between him and long-term girlfriend, stylist Karrueche Tran.
Guzman however took Brown to court so she could take sole custody. The Daily Mail reported, "Three points on which Nia had specifically objected that Chris might put Royalty in harm's way, that he or his friends might use drugs in her presence, and that violent acquaintances of the singer might endanger the girl." After settling the disagreement, they both now co-parent Royalty.
3 Britney Spears
Starting early 2004, Britney Spears began to begin her slow spiral out of control. She received a huge backlash after "stealing" her backup dancer Kevin Federline from his fiancee, Shar Jackson, who was actually pregnant with his second child at the time. The pair rushed down the aisle and married less than six months later.
Then the following summer she wrote on her official website: "The time has finally come to share our wonderful news that we are expecting our first child together." People feared that Britney (who once made headlines for a 48 hour Las Vegas marriage) was rushing in to things too quick and they weren't wrong. Kevin and Britney split shortly after their second child and a bitter custody battle took place, as pictures of Britney emerged showing her driving holding her son on her lap and almost dropping him in public. Britney has since received help from mental health experts and she is now happier than ever living with her two sons, Jayden and Sean, in Las Vegas where she has a regular show.
2 Beyonce
In 2011, during the MTV Music Video Awards, Beyonce dropped her mic, unbuttoned her blazer and rubbed her stomach - announcing to the world that her and Jay-Z were having their first child. What should have been a beautiful nine months for the couple was then surrounded by conspiracy and controversy.
During the pregnancy, Beyonce gave an interview when she was visibly pregnant. However, when she sat down in the chair it appeared as if the baby bump had "collapsed" under her dress. Hundreds of articles and videos online speculated whether Beyonce was even pregnant at all or if she had chosen to opt for a surrogate. Then in 2014, during her On The Run tour with Jay-Z, she included footage of her topless with a huge baby bump and Jay-Z's arms wrapped lovingly around her. Just to prove that she carried Blue Ivy throughout the pregnancy all by herself.
1 Blac Chyna
Last week, Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian dropped the ultimate bombshell - they were pregnant. Using an emoji of Chyna with a huge pregnancy bump and two more emojis of a baby and a celebration firework via Instagram they announced the happy news. It's goes without saying that the whole internet blew up and many tweeted the baby would be named "Karma Kardashian". Here is a reminder of a few points why this is so shocking…
Firstly, the pair have been dating less than a year and have moved in together, got engaged and are now pregnant. Chyna is the mother of Tyga's son, King Cairo, who now dates Kylie Jenner - Rob's half-sister. So when the two have the baby, and if Kylie and Tyga get married - then their child will have a half-brother who is also his step-cousin. That is all we are going to say on the matter.
