12 Celebs Who Are Seriously Glad 2015 Is Over
Of course no one ever plans to have a seriously terrible year. Each new year comes with feelings of hope and opportunity, and we all want to seize the next 365 days and get the most out of them. Unfortunately for the celebs on this list, 2015 wasn't a good year. At all. While many celebrities had a successful 2015, others had a much more awkward and embarrassing time. Some years just suck, and a bad year is a lot worse if you're in the limelight. You have to go through all that shame and upset in front of the whole world. 2015 was the year of celebrity fails, drug overdoses in brothels, A-list divorces, and lying on the air - LOTS of lying on the air. We hope these 12 celebrities have a much better 2016!
12 Lamar Odom
Retired professional basketball player Lamar Odom had a tough 2015. He and Khloe Kardashian (you might have heard of her) signed their divorce papers in July 2015 after six years of marriage, and it seemed to really affect him. In August, he claimed that his life had gone downhill since the divorce proceedings began. He was frequently spotted drinking, and on October 13th he was hospitalized after being found unconscious during a drug and prostitute binge at the Love Ranch brothel in Nevada. Although Khloe and Lamar put their divorce on hold after his hospitalization, Khloe has made it clear that they have not reconciled.
11 Scott Disick
Scott Disick normally has a pretty enviable life, but 2015 was a difficult year for him after his on-and-off girlfriend of nine years Kourtney Kardashian ended their relationship. She wasn't loving his partying. The split was hard on Scott and he was often seen partying with different women. He's mostly been seen living life, drinking and partying without the Kardashians. Thankfully he seems to be happier in 2016 and now he and Kourtney are amicable.
10 Charlie Sheen
Charlie Sheen announced that he is HIV positive during a Today Show exclusive interview in 2015. The star had been diagnosed four years previously but announced it publicly after being blackmailed. According to Sheen, some of his closest friends blackmailed him, along with a prostitute who threatened to leak a photograph of his HIV medicine. Over the years he paid the blackmailers $10 million, and he came clean so that he could stop shelling out so much cash. We can't imagine how difficult his year must have been, but he remains positive about his condition and we wish him all the best for 2016.
9 Rachel Dolezal
Rachel Dolezal certainly had a crazy 2015. She started the year working as an Africana studies instructor and president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She held this position until June 15, 2015, when she was outed by her parents for lying about her race. They said she was white but was claiming to be black. She admitted to being white during an interview on The Real in November 2015, saying “I acknowledge that I was biologically born white to white parents, but I identify as black.” She now works as a hairdresser and seems to be enjoying a much calmer 2016.
8 Miranda Lambert
Miranda was married to fellow country music star Blake Shelton for four years, until the couple announced divorce plans in the summer of 2015. Going through a divorce is tough on anyone, but it's definitely harder when your ex moves on publicly… and quickly. After the divorce was announced, Blake made his relationship with Gwen Stefani public -- they met working on the talent show The Voice. It's awful to see your ex moving on so fast with a coworker they've known for a while. Miranda, you're better off without him!
7 Brian Williams
Brian Williams is best known for his ten years as the anchor of NBC Nightly News until his credibility was nearly ruined in February 2015. It came out that some of the stories he told about his time in Iraq during 2003 were made up, including a story about being in a helicopter, forced down by RPG fire. Many people turned their back on him and he was suspended for six month, but returned to the air in September as a daytime news anchor.
6 Josh Duggar
Conservative reality star Josh Duggar is best known as the oldest child on TLC's 19 Kids and Counting, and he's also the executive director of the Family Research Council. He has been in the news before for his anti-gay marriage stance and was back in the limelight in 2015 after his account on spousal affair website Ashley Madison was outed. The website offers married people the chance to have a discreet affair while remaining anonymous, which contradicts his religious and public opinions. After hackers leaked the details, he decided to attend a six-month religious rehab retreat to cure his addictions.
5 50 Cent
2015 was a weird year for the rapper. After finding himself in the middle of a public spat with rapper Rick Ross, he acquired a tape of Lastonia Leviston, the mother of Rick Ross's daughter. He then bizarrely edited the video with court papers claiming that he added a running commentary and superimposed his face over the boyfriend's face. Of course, Lastonia sued him and the New York court ruled in her favor. 50 Cent was ordered to pay her $5 million, but instead he filed for bankruptcy, which Lastonia's lawyer claims is a tactic to delay the proceedings. Pretty unacceptable behavior - but what did we expect from a man who allegedly superimposed his face onto a tape?
4 Adam Sandler
The comedy star of Billy Madison, The Wedding Singer and Happy Gilmore seemed untouchable. He starred in more successful films like 50 First Dates and Click. But his film sales in recent years have been lower, and 2015 may have been the worst year yet. The Cobbler cost $10 million to make, but it only made $24,000 in box office sales and has a rating of 11% on Rotten Tomatoes. He was also in The Ridiculous Six which streamed on Netflix, which is rated 0% on Netflix. Hopefully he will use 2016 to plan an epic comeback!
3 Patrick Dempsey
The former Grey's Anatomy star began 2015 with a shocking announcement. He and makeup artist Jillian Dempsey, his wife of nearly 15 years, announced in January that they were getting divorced. In a statement, the couple said, "It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end our marriage." The couple didn't have a pre-nup though, which may have caused some problems, as Dempsey is worth around $40 million, while his wife isn't as well off. By the end of 2015, however, the couple could be seen enjoying themselves together with their children, and they called their divorce plans off. Here's to a happier 2016!
2 Perrie Edwards
Perrie Edwards is used to being in the spotlight as a member of Little Mix, but she received a lot of unwanted fame in 2015. She began the year engaged to One Direction member Zayn Malik, but he reportedly called off the engagement via text after splitting from his band, just weeks before the couple were supposed to move into their £3 million home. The split sent shockwaves throughout the pop world, and Perrie was thrown into the spotlight as newspapers speculated about the reason behind the breakup. Thankfully the buzz has died down, so she can have a less stressful 2016.
1 Teresa Giudice
The Real Housewives of New Jersey star and author of three bestselling cookbooks spent most of 2015 in prison. She and her husband Joe Giudice were charged with 40 counts of fraud including mail, wire, and bank fraud. She served 11 months of a 15-month service and was released on December 23rd. Her husband went to prison shortly after to serve his own 41-month sentence. Hopefully her 2016 will be better now that she's reunited with her four adorable daughters.
