12 Of The Best Celebrity Twitter Feuds Of The Year So Far
Since Twitter burst onto the social media scene, it's been an outlet for celebrities to promote their latest film/album/product, connect with fans and, most importantly, fight with other celebrities. Twitter has been the platform for some of the most explosive celeb drama over the past few years. We've watched it all unfold, from One Direction feuding with Piers Morgan to Khloe Kardashian laying into Amber Rose, and this year has been no different. In fact, 2016 may be the most turbulent year yet… and it's only June. The first few months of the year have proven to be especially dramatic with celebs fighting over nude selfies and even astrophysics. There were fights based on a single offensive tweet, and others that stemmed from a real life conflict (that was then blown way out of proportion on the social media platform, of course). Here are 12 of the best Twitter feuds that we have seen so far in 2016. If the first few months have been so crazy, we can only imagine what we have in store for the remainder of the calendar year.
12 Azealia Banks And Zayn
Azealia Banks is the Queen of Twitter feuds, and that's been the case in 2016, too. In May, she actually started two Twitter fights in one day, and both of them were seriously dramatic. Banks accused Zayn's “Like I Would” music video of copying her own music video, adding "I'm not mad about this though. Zayn is a cutie pie." Zayn replied with some shade, saying "no lies… I see you reaching but I don't care. My @'s too good for you." His tweet made Banks really angry, and she responded with a long, racist Twitter rant. Her behavior hasn't gone unnoticed and a ton of festivals have cancelled her performances.
11 Azealia Banks And Skai Jackson
See, we told you that she started two different Twitter feuds. Although Malik didn't respond to Bank's racist and homophobic tweets, Disney Channel start Skai Jackson tweeted "Azealia Banks needs to simmer down a little." Banks then took out all her fury on Skai, tweeting "And you need to grow some hips and start ur menses. Stay in a child's place." Jackson rightly defended herself, quickly responding with "Worry about your career. Get one.” The fight didn't end there and Banks kept tweeting her with insults. Jackson remained civil the whole time.
10 Neil deGrasse Tyson And B.o.B
One of the best Twitter feuds this year? That would definitely be between rapper B.o.b and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. After B.o.B tweeted about why he thinks the earth is flat, Neil deGrasse Tyson took the chance to educate him and set him straight about the truth. B.o.B wasn't impressed, saying "You can regurgitate force fed information all day… still doesn't change physics." He also uploaded a track he had recorded called “Flatline” about the subject. Tyson and his nephew responded with a track called "Flat to Fact,” using Drake's record “Back to Back” as backing music. Epic!
9 Kanye And Wiz Khailfa
It's probably not a surprise that Kayne West was involved in a Twitter feud. He and Wiz Khalifa had beef this January, and it was seriously popular - Kanye's rant had more than 400 million views within the first week! The drama started when Kanye changed his future album title from SWISH to WAVES. Khalifa tweeted back that Kanye was not being 'wavy' enough. One tweet said “Hit this kk and become yourself,” which Kanye took as an insult about his wife, Kim Kardashian. He began a 30-minute tirade, including jabs at Khalifa's music, clothing and his ex-wife, Amber Rose.
8 Kanye West And Amber Rose
Again, not a total surprise that Kayne is on the list yet again. While Wiz Khalifa didn't initially respond to Kanye's tweets about his wife, Amber Rose definitely defended herself - while throwing some serious shade at Kanye West. She said in a later interview that she intervened because Kayne brought her kid into the fight. Kanye later apologized with, “God's dream… Never speak on kids again… all love… all blessings… ” Fair enough!
7 Kim Kardashian And Bette Midler
Kim didn't let her husband have all the Twitter fun -- she also stirred up some drama of her own. She posted a full-frontal, semi-nude shot with the caption “Liberated.” A few celebrities judged her harshly, including Piers Morgan, but Bette Midler was the one to start some serious beef. "Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today," Bette tweeted to her followers. "If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera." Kim tweeted "Hey @BetteMidler I know it's past your bedtime but if you're still up and reading this send nudes #justkidding.” She went on to add "Hey @BetteMidler I really didn't want to bring up how you sent me a gift awhile back trying to be a fake friend then come at me #dejavu."
6 Holly Madison And Kendra Wilkinson
Ex-playmate Kendra Wilkinson started a seriously shocking Twitter feud earlier this year when she posted some scandalous tweets about fellow ex-playmate Holly Madison. Holly accidentally started things when she said that she felt “a lot of fear” during her time at the Mansion. This angered Kendra, who tweeted that she couldn't really have been that scared. Madison chose to be the bigger person by not responding. She later told Jenny McCarthy that she didn't respond to the messages because Wilkinson isn't a part of her life anymore.
5 Iggy Azalea And Talib Kweli
After Macklemore dissed Iggy Azalea on his track “White Privilege II”, she responded by tweeting “[Macklemore] shouldn't have spent the last 3 yrs having friendly convos and taking pictures together at events etc if those were his feelings.” The legendary Brooklyn hip-hop artist Talib Kweli took offence, tweeting back to say, The fact @iggyazalea thinks Macklemore song was a diss to her, instead of actually listening, is proof of her privilege." Azalea had a change of heart and deleted her tweet and said the song didn't bother her. Kweli responded with a screenshot of her earlier tweet, saying “Screenshot don't lie tho Iggy. It bothered you.” Burn!
4 Nicki Minaj And Farrah Abraham
Nicki Minaj has been watching the Teen Mom star's new show, but she definitely doesn't like what she's seeing. The star tweeted that Farrah treats her mother really badly (but she said it with some pretty harsh words). It didn't end there - she even brought up Farrah's daughter Sophia. Of course, Farrah tweeted back: "Cause you're a parent right? Your videos look like p**n - Horrible. Good luck being negative. #Godbless busy making TV.” She tweeted again later, calling Minaj a "rerun watching ignorant minion." The feud ended quickly, but not before Minaj got another tweet in, telling Abraham to respect her mother.
3 J.K. Rowling And PM Natalie McGarry
The most surprising Twitter feud of the year goes to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and Parliament Member Natalie McGarry. How did the fight start? McGarry accused Rowling of defending “abusive misognist trolls” on Twitter. Rowling tweeted and asked for an explantion. McGarry responded that she was referring to a tweet Rowling sent to an account last year saying “he's a good man,” although the account holder had previously sent mean tweets to McGarry. Rowling said she was thanking the account for making a donation to her children's charity, Lumos. She asked McGarry for proof or an apology, but McGarry didn't offer either. Rowling threatened a defamation lawsuit, effectively ending the fight.
2 Gabrielle Union And Stacey Dash
Bring It On actress Gabrielle Union accidentally started drama with Clueless star Stacy Dash at the Sundance Film Festival this year. She was asked what she thought about the recent comments from actress and news correspondent Stacy Dash about how white the Oscars are. "Who is that? Who is Stacey Dash?" Gabrielle replied, before calling the actress "a crazy lady." She went on to say "The more that we focus on inclusion and a true representation of this country, I think that crazy lady will have less to say.” Her response made #WhoIsStaceyDash trend on Twitter. Dash blogged that she demanded an apology.
1 Donald Trump And Megyn Kelly
You've probably heard about this one unless you've been living under a rock. It's definitely one of the most bizarre Twitter feuds this year. It all began when Kelly said that the GOP hopeful “called women you don't like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals.” Trump responded on Twitter after the debate, saying “Wow, @megynkelly really bombed tonight. People are going wild on twitter! Funny to watch.” It didn't end there - the next day he kept insulting the host, saying “There was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever." He kept insulting her as a journalist after that. Kelly didn't respond, proving that she's definitely the classier of the two.
