13 Celebs We Often Confuse For One Another
Everyone, at one point or another, has likely confused one celebrity for another. For one thing, the majority of celebrities are either stunningly gorgeous or jaw-droppingly handsome. Sure, some of them have certain quirks, from eyes that are different colours to a slightly too large nose, but for the most part, they're sleek, sexy, and impeccably groomed. They show up on red carpets in stunning gowns and perfectly tailored suits, knowing exactly how to pose. So, when everyone looks like the best version of themselves, how do you differentiate between celebrities who look a little too much like one another? How do you decide who, exactly, is the one posing on the red carpet at that event or being snapped by the paparazzi on their way out of a restaurant?
You see, many of the individuals on this list could be easily identified once they start speaking, once their personality shines through. However, if you see only photos of them on the red carpet, posing and smiling, you may very well think you're looking at one celebrity when you're actually spotting another.
Here are 13 celebs that are often confused for one another.
13 Ed Helms and Jason Sudeikis
This lookalike scenario has a lot to do with the personalities of the two actors - both Ed Helms and Jason Sudeikis have built a reputation as funny leading men. They both have dark hair, kept short in a certain side-swept style, they both tend to dress fairly similarly (no bright colours or particularly daring fashion choices for these two), and they both seem like down to earth, regular guys. Of course, nowadays, Sudeikis can be identified a lot better when he's spotted with his foxy wife Olivia Wilde. However, when they were both rising stars, many people confused the duo more than they would like. No, Sudeikis wasn't in The Hangover movies or The Office. No, Helms wasn't that guy in that rom com. They're different people.
12 Amy Adams and Isla Fisher
This one isn't just in your imagination - Adams herself has confirmed that she often gets mistaken for Aussie actress Isla Fisher. As she told Vanity Fair in 2014, “I get Isla Fisher all the time, still. When I'm with Isla, we both look at one another and say, 'I get it, but I don't get it.'” It seems silly, but a large part of their mistaken identity comes from the fact that they're both fiery redheads, somewhat of a rarity in the sea of Hollywood blondes and brunettes. And then there's the fact that both are petite with porcelain skin. Both of these talented ladies have chalked up many successes on the silver screen, but they still find themselves getting confused for one another.
11 Lucy Hale and Selena Gomez
While Lucy Hale is better known as an actress (particularly for her role as Aria on Pretty Little Liars) and Selena Gomez is better known as a singer, both starlets have dabbled in both sides of the entertainment industry. We're thankful they're primarily known for acting and singing, respectively, because we have a feeling they'd get even more confused for one another if they were both in the same sphere. Seeing them side by side, it's easy to see why someone might mistake them - both have long, dark hair, young-looking faces, slim frames, and slightly rounder face shapes. And, judging by the fact that they once wore the same dress (to different events), they may even have a similar sense of style.
10 Elizabeth Banks and Chelsea Handler
Honestly, the only reason that Elizabeth Banks and Chelsea Handler aren't confused for one another more often is because Handler works primarily as a comedian, favouring stand-up performances and hosting gigs over regular acting roles. However, there's no doubt that the two could be sisters. While Banks favours a far more glam look than Handler, who prefers a more natural make-up look, the two both have the same wavy blonde hair, baby blue eyes and bubbly personalities.
9 Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry
Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry are saved from constant confusion by one feature - Deschanel's trademark bangs. In photographs where her bangs are pulled to the side or pinned back, she looks like a less made-up version of Perry. In any shots of Perry without a lot of make-up on, she looks eerily like Zooey Deschanel. In fact, she almost looks more like her than Deschanel's very own sister, Emily, who is also an actress. Perry and Deschanel are even somewhat involved in the same industry - while Zooey may be primarily known as an actress, she also has had many ventures in the music industry. Luckily, Deschanel's style leans more towards indie than Perry's bubble gum pop.
8 Timothy Olyphant and Josh Duhamel
Okay, the similarity between these two leading men is absolutely eerie. They have similar short hairstyles for their brunette locks, both prefer rocking some stubble rather than being clean shaven or sporting a full beard, both have strong jawlines and bright, easy smiles. I mean, if you dressed them up and styled them in exactly the same way, we're not confident how many people could differentiate between the two. It also doesn't help that both are all over the place when it comes to their acting careers, appearing in dramas, comedies, television, film, etc. If only one stuck to dramatic films and the other stuck to sitcoms - perhaps then it'd be easier to figure out who was starring in any particular project.
7 Gerard Butler and Clive Owen
As many actors, Gerard Butler and Clive Owen have taken on several roles where they disguise their true accents to portray certain characters. However, in real life, both men have strong accents - Scottish for Butler and English for Owen. Despite being red carpet staples who spend a lot of their time in Hollywood, both have remained fairly down to earth and have a certain rugged sex appeal, rather than the glossy, pretty good looks of many American celebrities. Admit it - the reason both of them are so popular is because they have a sort of rough around the edges, testosterone-packed vibe that women love.
6 Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Javier Bardem
Okay, this one is just too much. Even though Javier Bardem was born in Spain and Jeffrey Dean Morgan is totally all-American, we can't help but feel like these two are long lost brothers. I mean, they look so alike that it's absolutely insane! From the short, slightly tousled dark hair to the perma-stubble to the charming, dimple-packed grin, they are just way too alike. In many cases, the only way to tell them apart is once they've started talking and you can hear their accents - although both are capable of putting on accents different from their own, so even that isn't a sure bet!
5 Nina Dobrev and Victoria Justice
If you see one of these two actresses in a film aimed at adults, chances are it'll be Nina Dobrev - ever since she absolutely slayed it playing both Katherine and Elena on the hit show The Vampire Diaries, her star power has absolutely skyrocketed and she's begun to take on more and more roles. Victoria Justice, on the other hand, is best known for her roles in two Nickelodeon shows aimed at younger audiences - Zoey 101 and Victorious. She's beginning to break out, snagging a few film roles and pursuing her music career, but Dobrev is still definitely the more recognizable name of the two.
4 Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester
The horror flick The Roommate might not exactly be a cinematic masterpiece, but it did introduce the public to one fact - namely, that Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester are likely long-lost sisters. Sure, Kelly is best known for playing sweet as pie Lyla Garrity on the hit television show Friday Night Lights, while Meester is known for her role of the sweet on the surface yet cutthroat Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl. The point is, these two brunette bombshells look way, way too similar to not be secretly related.
3 Tom Hardy and Logan Marshall-Green
On paper, Tom Hardy and Logan Marshall-Green seem like opposites. Hardy is an English actor, screenwriter and producer known for meaty roles in films like Bronson, Warrior, The Revenant and The Dark Night Rises. Logan Marshall-Green is a Southern boy, who attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and New York University's famous Tisch School of the Arts before breaking into the acting scene with roles primarily in the television world, on shows like 24 and The O.C. However, there is one similarity between these two hotties - their looks. From the tousled hair to the scruff to the softer faces, these two gentlemen look eerily alike.
2 Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard
Jessica Chastain and Bryce Dallas Howard have a lot in common. Both are originally California girls, both attended university in New York City, and both have had careers filled with a wide variety of film roles, from blockbuster hits to difficulty indie flicks. And, of course, both have a similar look - silky red locks, porcelain skin, and a wide smile that frequently pops up on the red carpet. There's no denying that both ladies are absolutely gorgeous, and definitely stand out amongst the sea of blondes and brunettes in Hollywood. Hey, maybe they've been wrong all along - it's redheads that have more fun, not blondes!
1 Eli Roth and Zachary Quinto
Roth and Quinto are both multi-talented actors who know how to nail it both in front of the camera and behind it as actors, directors, producers and more. They are also basically twins, from their dark hair to their thick eyebrows and perfect smiles. While Roth and Quinto have both worked steadily in Hollywood for the past decade or two, neither has really attained mega-stardom, so they're often easily confused with one another.
