13 Celebs Who Kept Their Baby Bumps A Secret
It seems pretty hard to hide a pregnancy, but a lot of women don't actually start showing for a long time. Many celebs do an awesome job hiding their growing baby bumps as long as they possibly can. They wear super loose clothing, of course, and some of them straight-up leave the limelight behind for a bit until they want to discuss the bun in their oven. This is mostly possible because the average person isn't going to call TMZ and rat on a celeb pregnancy, and it's also probably possible because celebs have super fancy, huge homes to hide out in. They can get everything they could possibly need delivered right to their doorstep. Here are 13 celebs who have been super secretive about pregnancies.
13 Adele
Adele wasn't hiding out during her pregnancy, but she still managed to keep it under wraps for about seven months. She wore a ton of baggy clothes and hoped for the best while she was performing and generally living her life. She even did live shows and hid things pretty well at the five-month mark. She dodged the press a lot and showed up late places to avoid answering anything. She gave birth to her son Angelo in October 2012.
12 Ali Larter
The actress wanted so badly to keep her pregnancy a secret that she and her husband Hayes MacArthur actually left the country for four months so that no one would notice. Imagine if we all had to the option to leave the country for months at a time to hide something -- breakup recovery trip, anyone? She has said it was a "private time" so they hid out in Europe. Must have been pretty hard.
11 Isla Fisher
Isla Fisher was pregnant for the second time while shooting the film Burke and Hare. Not only did she keep the pregnancy a secret from the general public, but she also kept it a secret from her coworkers. She was three months along when she started shooting and though her wardrobe called for corsets, she kind of had to fake them. She had Elula in August of 2010.
10 Lucille Ball
Back in 1951, it wasn't proper to be seen pregnant on TV (we've come so far), so Lucille Ball had to hide her belly when she started shooting I Love Lucy. Luckily, there were plenty of aprons to wear and counters to hide behind. The second time she was pregnant during shooting, the producers wrote the pregnancy into the script… but they never used the word "pregnant" on TV. Too provocative? Don't want people thinking about how babies are made or anything.
9 Claire Danes
Claire Danes managed to keep her pregnancy secret for four months while starring on Homeland. At the time she said, "They haven't written it in, but they'll be able to manipulate it in post and do some CGI trickery and make Carrie not so pregnant.”
8 Jennifer Garner
Jennifer Garner was trying to hide her pregnancy when filming the The Invention of Lying. She would have gotten away with it (despite dealing with morning sickness on set)… but the news got leaked to the press. The director, Matthew Robinson, only found out because he read about it. She has talked about how goofy her brain gets when she's pregnant but she was able to pull it together when she was on camera. Jennifer and Ben Affleck's daughter Seraphina was born in January 2009.
7 Mila Kunis
When Mila Kunis got pregnant, she and Ashton Kutcher kept it a secret for five months. The former That 70's Show stars ended up sweetly sharing the news on Mother's Day, and a few months later, Mila gave birth to Wyatt Isabelle, who was 9.5 pounds at birth. Mila has said, "She's a big girl, y'all" and shared that the baby never wore newborn sizes.
6 Megan Fox
Megan Fox is currently pregnant for the third time, and she hasn't mentioned how far along she is. She stepped out for a promotional appearance this month clearly showing. The bump was a shocker to many since she and Brian Austin Green are in the process of divorcing, and people were wondering who the baby daddy was until she confirmed it was Brian. Hey, this is a modern world we live in. In the past, Megan waited six months to confirm a pregnancy, so she's pretty good at keeping secrets.
5 Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez didn't announce her pregnancy with twins Max and Emme until she was five months along… despite showing. She made the official announcement during the last show of a 2007 tour when she said, “Marc and I are expecting. You don't mind if I catch my breath for a minute?” She was, of course, referring to then husband Marc Anthony, and the twins were born a few months later in 2008.
4 Uma Thurman
The actress tried to keep the news of her third pregnancy quiet, but she was showing so she had to deal with pregnancy rumors for quite some time. When she finally shared the news, she didn't waste any time showing off her bump and even hit the beach in a bikini. She named the baby Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence because no one in the family could pick one name, so they went with all the potential options. Sounds pretty smart.
3 Britney Spears
The pop star was pretty open about sharing news of her first pregnancy, but the second time she got pregnant with Kevin Federline's child, she hid it for five months. She made the official reveal on Letterman, joking, “Don't worry, Dave, it's not yours." He responded with, “Oh. Well, I think that's good news for both of us.” Not too long after Jayden was born, Britney and Kevin split up.
2 Eva Mendes
This pregnancy was pretty shocking because the world found out she was carrying the spawn of Ryan Gosling. Ryan Gosling, people. The news also came as a shock because once it was announced Eva was already seven months pregnant… meaning we only had two months or so to let it sink in that she was having a baby with Ryan Gosling. But then they've been super secretive about their life since the baby was born as well, and we haven't seen much of Eva at all.
1 Beyonce
Beyonce publicly revealed her pregnancy when she felt like it, in true Beyonce fashion. She took the stage at the 2011 VMA's and exposed her five-month pregnancy belly, and gave birth to Blue a few months later in 2012. There are some conspiracy theories out there that suggest she was never actually pregnant at all and faked the whole thing for one reason or another. But that tale is for another story. The official birth announcement: "Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs. and it was the best experience of both of our lives.” Would you expect anything less from Queen B?
