We've been overtaken by the world of social media, non-famous and famous people alike have taken to their social media accounts to not only express their opinions but to expose their thoughts, moves, meals, and of course, their bodies. Most of the billions if not trillions of social media posts tend to be harmless, sometimes annoying, but yet harmless. However, these celebrities went a little too far with their selfies.

Selfies on the other hand have become the pinnacle of narcissism. Images that are taken by our own selves to show the world something about us. Be it our bodies, faces, feet or whatever it is about our persona that we want the world to see. Of course, in today's narcissistic society selfies have become something normal. We can spend hours on Instagram, Snapchat or Facebook looking at endless photos of our favorite celebs. Yet every now and then even these celebs make catastrophic mistakes when it comes to their selfies.

Let's keep in mind that once on the web, forever on the web. Even if some of these images were deleted soon after they were published, they were out there long enough to be copied and distributed to endless news outlets everywhere.

14 Body Shaming Someone Else

Dani Mathers, a former Playb*y “CyberGirl” thought it might be funny to take a selfie of her covering her mouth in disgust and distress and a photo of an older naked lady at the gym. Purposefully body shaming her by adding the text on the photo “If I can't unsee this then you can't either”. Sooooooo not cool!!!

First of all, the older lady was just doing her thing, in what she thought was a private space, she never asked or offered to be in Mathers' selfie, body shaming her. Second, if you want to expose your body to the web that's fine by you, but you can't and shouldn't post a photo of someone else's body who is not intending on being on the web. And third, yes! YOU have a hot body, not everyone else does, that doesn't give you the right to be shaming others for how they look. Besides! The woman is 71 years old! I wonder how Mathers will look when she hits that number? And the woman is still hitting the gym. Instead of being body shamed she should be celebrated.

13 Something Unexpected in the Background

Dean McDermott thought it'd be cute to post a photo of his son on social media, but it seems like he didn't really take a close look at what was happening in the background. Yes! There they are on full display - not in this pic because they've been cut off - but in the original picture, you can see Tori Spelling's breasts on full display for the virtual world to see.

Of course what caught the attention of the world was not the boy's face but Tori's girls just hanging out. Which made several people question, why is Tori showing her breasts during family time? Her son is young of course, but mmmm isn't he sort of old enough to maybe not be hanging around mom's nude breasts? I suppose too it is a very private part of parenting and we shouldn't be judging. Yet… it was a really inappropriate photo to be sharing on social media. Heck! You probably don't even keep that in the family albums.

12 Justin Trying Too Hard

He's tensing his abs as much as he can, he's trying to pull a natural “I'm just taking a casual selfie” kind of face, and yes! Trying to look all grown up with his little tattoos around his body. But in reality, he looks like a toddler trying to look like The Rock. It's just not going to happen and it simply makes the whole thing look inappropriate. There's just something wrong about a childish boy trying to man up when it's not his time yet, and also when he doesn't have the looks to make up for it.

Sorry, Justin, you have very delicate facial features. You look adorable, don't get us wrong, but you're not exactly what many women would consider a manly man. Maybe teenage girls who are into the whole boyish kind of look. But maybe actually accepting your looks would make you look more natural and less inappropriate. This is the type of selfie that makes you feel embarrassed for someone else.

Like why? There is absolutely no purpose to this very elaborate selfie of her taking a bath with all her diamond jewelry, full on make up and a little foam covering her private parts. We're talking about someone who's a mom here. I don't know about you, but I sure wouldn't like my mom posting this kind of selfie for the world to see.

We're living in times of desperation and this woman is just flaunting her wealth and chilled out life out there for fans to see how good she has it. Good for her, we know she had to work her little voice off to get to where she is today, but still, there really is no need to be showing off like this. Besides, being honest and all, when you really just want to take a relaxing bath, you remove your jewelry, you don't wear diamond earrings, necklaces and bracelets and full on makeup. Her hair is still dry and carefully positioned on her face to make her look more attractive as well. There is just nothing natural about this selfie. It was purposefully planned to create envy and to highlight her lifestyle.

10 Kim Kardashian's Nakedness

It's no surprise to anyone living in this century that the Kardashians will do anything within their power to stay in the limelight. Kim especially owes her fame and fortune to showing the world her very private parts, like she did in the infamous sex tape that catapulted her to reality TV heaven.

But it's been… . Like what? A decade? Of us having to deal with her over exposure? In this very revealing selfie Kim is not really doing anything of interest (like she ever does) but exposing her curves on her Instagram account. Yes! She has a smoking hot body, we can't deny that, but at the same time, we can't say that we haven't seen it all before. It's just getting old and she's getting old to be doing this kind of attention stunt. Besides, it's also no surprise that she lives for her body, who knows what she's had done to it. And that pose she's striking is done with the intention of enhancing her body, by making her waist look smaller. So yes! Not very natural, unlike the photos that were taken of her in Mexico, where you can see on full display what her body “naturally” looks like. Very different to the very elaborated selfies that she promotes on her social media.

9 Ellie Goulding and Cultural Appropriation

We are living in times of defending one's culture. By this, I mean that it can be incredibly offensive when celebrities who don't belong to a certain culture try to make it their own for entertainment purposes. Ellie Goulding is not Native American, nor has she ever expressed that she shares their values or any support whatsoever towards this culture. Which made it extremely inappropriate to use a traditional Native American outfit for the sole purpose of dressing up for Halloween.

Goulding sparked outrage on social media after sharing this snap. Since she clearly did not dress this way to show her respect towards the Native American community but to have some fun on Halloween. There are just customs you should stay away from during Halloween, anything that belongs to a culture is off limits, just stick to the traditional ones. Besides, Halloween is supposed to be about dressing in customs that are scary, not in ones that are considered sacred. The Indian headdress was used only by the brave and powerful, we can't really say Ellie Goulding deserves to wear it.

8 More Overexposure

Of course, Kim Kardashian was going to be on this list more than once. We're talking about the woman who published a book about photos of herself. But in this case, she dragged someone else along with her, Emily Ratajkowski.

Both, topless in front of a mirror pulling the finger. Why? It's just one of those completely senseless photos, that lack purpose, and even dignity. I mean, just imagine the moment before taking the photo “Yes! Let's take off our tops, pose topless, put a little black square of our privates and pull the finger! Yes, dude”. We're talking about grown up women doing things that are not even appropriate for teenagers. And it's not because there's something wrong with the female body, not at all. But we're in an era where us women want to be taken seriously, yes! Free the nipples! But you're not even freeing the nipples, and on top of that you're pulling the finger, and to whom? At us? The public? Or at yourselves? We just don't get it.

7 James Franco Doing… . I Don't Know

There's hardly something to hate about Franco, however, there's hardly something to like about this very inappropriate and unnecessary selfie. We know Franco is sometimes out there just doing really weird stuff that surprises us all. He's the type of celebrity that will sometimes do something wacky that keeps us adoring him even more. We can only guess this weird selfie is one of those weird things he sometimes likes to do.

For such a handsome man this selfie does him little justice. Instead of looking like an A-list actor, he looks like a meth addict that just woke up after having an orgy with a group of prostitutes. The serious and tired face. The yellowish looking underwear and his hand down his crotch just makes the whole scene completely unnecessary. I don't even think this can fall into the category of art, but just plain inappropriate.

6 Why Did She Need To Take Off Her Clothes?

The hashtag #bringbackourgirls was in relation to the kidnapping of more than 200 Nigerian students who were kidnapped from their school. It was a sad event that shocked the world and put international pressure to demand the safe return of the students. Celebrities and politicians worldwide brought awareness to the tragedy posting the hashtag #bringbackourgirls.

What makes this photo very inappropriate is that we're talking about the kidnapping of students here. It is a very serious matter that deserves a lot of respect and sympathy. Irina Shayk is sort of showing solidarity by promoting the hashtag, but why did she take off her clothes? It seems like she wants the attention focused on herself instead of the Nigerian students that have gone missing. There was no need in using the paper to cover her naked body to bring more awareness to the issue, this just brought more awareness to herself, which sort of makes her “altruistic” gesture sort of narcissistic.

5 Geraldo Rivera Showing Us More Than We Need

He's an old man that stays in shape, good for him. It's always good to keep an exercise regimen regardless of your age. However, you get to an age where it's not really appropriate to be taking nearly naked pictures in your bathroom mirror. It's just awkward. It's not just because he's old, but because the public has never really seen him as a sex symbol or anything close to that. That would be like Dr. Phil taking a topless photo in front of the mirror. Yes! He's a respected man, but he's not really the kind of celebrity that we want to see without clothes.

Besides, he's holding that towel waaaaaay too low, making the whole image seem not only inappropriate but kind of dirty. Like… it's not something that should be out there in social media where there are young people lurking around.

4 Lindsay Covering Her Girls with Her Hair

We've seen a lot of unflattering pictures of Lohan on the web. Unfortunately for her, the majority of those were taken against her will. With the paparazzi following her every move, it was hard not to end up with several bad photos of her on the web.

However, this inappropriate photo was taken by herself and posted by herself. No hawkers and privacy breaches here. There's only one character that should cover her girls with her hair and that is the mystical mermaid, not even the Little Mermaid, Ariel, because she's a cartoon for children. But the traditional mermaid. Lindsay Lohan is not a mermaid. Apparently, it seems like she just got a new haircut and is trying to show it off without her top on. It's just not something that should be shared with the world.

3 Nicolas Cage Caught Off Guard

We can't really blame him for this inappropriate selfie. The guy was just catching a flight and an enthusiastic fan decided to take a selfie with the famous actor. You can clearly see in the picture that Cage was not really picture ready, he looks tired, jet-lagged and just not in the mood. On the other hand, the fan looks super joyous and ecstatic to be sitting next to the famous actor.

What makes this photo inappropriate is not how Cage looks, but that the fan posted it online for the world to see. I guess we're all shy to a certain extent when we get a bad picture taken, we want to delete it and erase it from the face of the earth. Being a celebrity I can only guess or assume that you get used to having bad pictures taken of you and having to deal with them on the web.

At least the happy fan looks good.

Drugs are not cool, there's nothing new about that. The Hollywood sphere is well known for having a problem with drugs. Many times they tend to be glamorized, like if they were part of being famous and successful. Most celebrities will keep their drug addiction a secret and will deny allegations that say otherwise. Other celebrities will promote them as if they were a crucial part of having fun.

However, Chris Brown seems to think that it is something fun to share with others. In this dreadful and extremely inappropriate selfie, we see the musician smoking what seems to be three joints at the same time.

Not only is this far from being a positive message to his fans, it's also encouraging damaging behavior. There's been a long debate regarding marijuana and its benefits, versus its harms. But we still can't deny or overlook the fact that it does kill brain neurons. Unless it is for medicinal purposes one should probably stay away from the drug, and from what we know, Chris Brown is not really struggling with a deadly illness that requires marijuana for medicinal purposes.

1 Nicki Minaj and a Very Low Cleavage

There are cleavages that are delicate and elegant and then there are the ones that are too vulgar. Minaj took her cleavage to another level by exposing a bit too much. We know she's a woman with big attributes, but there's also that part of being a lady that's about leaving something to the imagination. There really is no need to expose every inch of your body on social media for the world to see. We're all proud of certain aspects of our bodies or our lives, yet it's unnecessary to expose them so openly for the world to share and see. Even though the human body is natural and shouldn't be over-sexualized, we have to admit that there are strategies that celebrities use to sexualize themselves to gain more exposure. This inappropriate selfie shows just that and is over the top.

We can't really say it's a nip-slip because the pic wasn't taken by a harassing paparazzi in what could have been a wardrobe malfunction. It was purposely taken by Minaj herself. Stating, that she wanted the world to see a bit more than what we're supposed to look at.
