14 Worst Teen Moms from '16 And Pregnant' You Forgot About
16 and Pregnant took the reality TV world by storm when it premiered in 2009 and since then, there have been several spin-offs like Teen Mom, Teen Mom 2, and Teen Mom O.G. Each and every one of the teenage mothers featured on the show over the years has their own unique problems and struggles. You may recognize names like Farrah Abraham and Kailyn Lowry from the docu-series since those young moms now star on Teen Mom and have become household names (and tabloid sensations). But there are other moms from the show who have had difficult challenges and even done shocking things that you may not remember. The young moms featured on this list are some of the worst seen on 16 and Pregnant, even though you probably forgot about them. Even though they're not regularly in the tabloids, that doesn't mean that life as been easy-breezy for these former teen moms!
14 Emily McKenzie, Season 2
It was easy to sympathize with Emily McKenzie at the beginning of her episode. When her super conservative mom learned that their daughter was pregnant, she kicked her out of the house for not having an abortion. Emily had to move an hour away to live with her father… but he proved to be just as judgmental as her mom. To make matters even worse, she was then kicked out of high school for having too many absences (even though they were because of her pregnancy). However, her boyfriend, Daniel, was offered a scholarship to Alabama Huntsville and his parents said that it would be unfair to deny him the opportunity. It was Emily's attitude that threw many fans off. We understand that her situation was more than difficult, but Emily didn't seem to take any responsibility for her pregnancy. Instead, she said that she resented her boyfriend and wanted a life beyond changing diapers and doing laundry. In the end, Emily and Daniel did get married after the birth of their son, Liam. They are currently living together while Daniel studies engineering. Emily reportedly hopes to enroll in college soon.
13 Ebony Jackson, Season 1
We thought that Ebony Jackson had her life somewhat together during her season 1 appearance. While the teen originally had plans to join the air force, she had to make some changes when she discovered she was pregnant with her daughter, Jocelyn. She eventually married her boyfriend, Joshua, and they settled down on a base in Little Rock. Fans got to see them again during MTV's first "Where are They Now?" special, and the couple seemed to be adjusting to parenthood pretty well. However, things haven't been all roses and daisies for the young mother. In the fall of 2012, TMZ reported that Ebony was expecting her second child. At the same time, she and her husband had been arrested for welfare fraud and endangering her daughter who was two years old at the time. The couple was still working to regain custody of Jocelyn at the time of their second pregnancy. To make things worse, Ebony was reportedly pregnant for a third time in 2015 after suffering a series of miscarriages, this time with her boyfriend, James Baldrick (who also has a daughter of his own). There is no word on whether Ebony has custody of her children.
12 Nicole Fokos, Season 2
Fans were rooting for Nicole Fokos and her hippie hair boyfriend, Tyler. Nicole was raised by her mom after her dad died when she was young. Tyler, on the other hand, was estranged from his mother and dropped out of school at age thirteen. But both Tyler and Nicole's mom seemed supportive of her before welcoming her daughter, Brooklyn. On the reunion special, Tyler even proposed to an elated Nicole, making us believe that this ending was totally a fairy tale. Things seemed to be going well for the tiny family for a while. Nicole and Tyler continued dating and lived with her mom, though neither of them finished high school. Nicole also reportedly had a job at McDonald's and Tyler was working on his relationship with his mother. However, reports soon surfaced that Nicole was struggling with both substance abuse and having custody of her young daughter. In April of 2016, it was revealed that Nicole welcomed her second daughter, named Scarlett Elizabeth, with her new boyfriend, Kenny Navarro. There are no reports on whether Nicole has overcome custody issues with her eldest daughter or if baby daddy Tyler is still in the picture.
11 Aubrey Wolters, Season 2
Fans had high hopes for Aubrey Wolters after seeing her dedication to raising her son, Austin, during her episode. Aubrey became a favorite among fans for her trash talking ways and seemed like she wouldn't take crap from anyone. At the end of her episode, Aubrey decided to delay college and work part-time instead. While her relationship with her boyfriend, Brandon, didn't survive until the end of the episode, he still retained joint custody of their son and seemed to be doing better. The couple ended up marrying after the episode aired, but divorced shortly afterward in 2011. But the young mother has been troubled with tabloid rumors since her season ended. In 2011, Aubrey was arrested at a local Wal-Mart for shoplifting while her son was with her. She allegedly tried to steal $29.66 of cosmetics from the store. When authorities arrested her, they also found Ritalin and Oxycontin on her, neither of which she had a prescription for. It was also revealed during MTV's “Where Are They Now?” special that Aubrey was dancing to make ends meet. In 2013, HollywoodLife.com revealed Aubrey was pregnant with her second baby and due in 2014. Hopefully things went smoother for her after her second pregnancy.
10 Jennifer Del Rio, Season 3
Even before her episode aired, there were rumors floating around about controversial teen mom Jennifer Del Rio. It was reported that the teen got pregnant on purpose so she could be on the show. Jennifer's episode revolved around her tumultuous relationship with her boyfriend, Josh Smith, and the birth of their twin sons. The teens' families had no interaction, and it was clear Jennifer's parents were not fond of Josh. The teens were unable to reach a compromise over how to raise their twin boys, Joshua and Noah. Things escalated quickly when cameras showed Jennifer and Josh getting into a physical altercation on the side of a highway. Josh was later arrested for domestic violence, and the two eventually filed restraining orders against each other. In the “Where Are They Know?” episode, Jennifer revealed she took her boys and moved to Chicago to escape the chaos. In 2014, Jennifer welcomed her third son, Sebastian, with her now-husband, Luis Gutierrez.
9 Markai Durham, Season 2
Markai Durham and her boyfriend, James, had a rocky relationship from the beginning. Cameras highlighted the turbulence of the teen couple's relationship, both before and after they welcomed their daughter Za'Karia. James admitted to cheating on his girlfriend, and she reacted by physically hurting him. Dr. Drew later said of this incident, “It's called domestic violence.” This is one couple that is clearly not meant to last. In a very special MTV episode, cameras followed Markai as she got an abortion. She had discovered she was pregnant for a second time with her boyfriend James. But she knew she could never support two children as she was struggling with just one. Markai later revealed on Twitter that she regrets having the abortion. In 2013 it was reported that she was pregnant for a third time, and planning on going through with the pregnancy. Hopefully things have been better for Markai and her family in the future.
8 Lizzie Waller, Season 1
Lizzie Waller didn't seem to understand the gravity of her situation when she became pregnant with her boyfriend, Skylar. Lizzie had originally wanted to be a music/ ultrasound technician, but she had to drop out of school upon learning about her pregnancy. During her episode, she talked about having the perfect baby, the perfect family, and the perfect life. She seemed to think her situation was the American teenager's dream. But her dreams came to a startling halt when she discovered her boyfriend had cheated on her. She shocked her parents (and viewers) when she still decided to marry her boyfriend, despite learning about his infidelities. She was determined to raise their daughter, Summer, together despite having no money or living accommodations. Since then, Lizzie worked on getting her diploma and is now taking night classes in order to become a dental assistant. She and her husband, who works two jobs, are still together and live with her parents.
7 Lori Wickelhaus, Season 3
Lori Wickelhaus had an episode that was hard to watch. She had to decide whether to put the baby she was expecting with her boyfriend, Cory Haskett, up for adoption or not. Lori herself was adopted. But it seemed like her adoptive parents were pressuring her to choose adoption. They made it seem like she had virtually no other option but to give up her son, Aidan. Lori eventually chose an open adoption, but it has since been noted her contact with the adoptive family has been limited. It seems that choosing adoption may have led Lori to start a family at an early age. She has said on separate occasions that she both regrets choosing adoption and that she believes it was the right (and the only) option. In October 2013, Lori welcomed her second child, daughter Rylynn Jo, with her then-fiancée, Joey Amos. The couple shortly broke up, and Amos has started a new family. Lori then went on to have a third child in 2014, a son named Logan. There is no official word on who the third child's father is.
6 Samantha Hernandez, Season 2
Samantha's story seemed like something out of a soap opera. Even before her daughter's pregnancy, Samantha's mom forbade her from seeing her boyfriend Eric. That's when Eric's mom stepped in and arranged secret hook-ups for the teen couple. Oh, and Samantha's mom was pregnant at the same time, too. The episode documented the two teens' moms fighting over the situation, even after Samantha gave birth to daughter Jordynn. The family spent more time fighting over trivial things than what to do after Jordynn's birth. Last fans have heard of this teen mom was that, after briefly moving out with Eric, Samantha and her daughter returned home to live with her mom (though the couple were still together). Samantha was also said to be working at Best Buy on the weekends, while Eric had a job at Subway. Eric even gave Samantha a promise ring. During an interview with MTV, Samantha revealed she was jealous that Eric was taking college classes and she was not. Hopefully Samantha has more time to pursue her education now that her baby is older.
5 Ashley Salazar, Season 2
Ashley Salazar's Season 2 episode was completely heartbreaking. After Ashley and her boyfriend, Justin Lane discovered they were pregnant, viewers watched as the young teen had to decide whether to give her daughter, Callie, up for adoption or raise her instead. To make matters even more complicated, Ashley's aunt and uncle offered to adopt the child. While this would mean that Ashley could see her child on a regular basis, it was still a tough decision. She ended up deciding that adoption was the right choice for her and her family. Ashley blogged about her feelings during her pregnancy, and later wrote a book called Bittersweet Blessing about her experience. After her episode, Ashley briefly attended school in NYC but she soon returned to Texas to pursue her education online. In 2016, Ashley revealed that she and her now fiancé, Justin, were expecting their second child. During her episode, Justin was absent through almost her entire pregnancy. So the fact that the pair was still together (they've been engaged since 2014) and expecting shocked fans all over. In 2017, the two welcomed their son Phoenix Roy Lane. They post the occasional photo with their first child, Callie, showing that they are still involved in her life.
4 Nikkole Paulun, Season 3
Nikkole Paulun's episode was totally cringeworthy. Viewers watched as her insufferable boyfriend, Josh Drummonds, constantly argued with her equally aggressive mother. But his awful behavior did nothing to help his case. It was revealed during the episode that Josh had been unfaithful to Nikkole during his pregnancy, and Nikkole also talked about her self-esteem issues. The teen couple eventually broke up before the episode concluded. A jaw-dropping finale saw Josh head off to jail on drug-related charges, officially establishing this as one of the worst 16 And Pregnant stories ever. Though fans thought they saw the last of bad boy Josh, it was later revealed Nikkole and her baby had moved back in with him. Nikkole returned to high school (and her cheerleading squad) since her mom babysits Lyle in the daytime. In 2013, Nikkole revealed she suffered a tragic stillborn birth with the birth of her second child. She gave several interviews in which she shared her experience. However, in 2015 she was pregnant once again and welcomed daughter Ellie (the father has not been confirmed). She has since been highlighted for her adorable Instagram account where she shares photos of her two children.
3 Megan McConnell, Season 2
While Megan and her family didn't seem to feel the same way, viewers were not a fan of Megan's boyfriend, Nathan. The father-to-be was living with Megan's military family when she was pregnant. But instead of going to school or getting a job to support his expanding family, cameras showed how Nathan did almost nothing but play video games and nap all day. To make matters worse, no one in the household seemed to be bothered by his laziness. Throughout Megan's entire pregnancy, Nathan appeared uninterested and uninvolved. And fans were bothered that Megan put up with his shenanigans for so long. After the birth of their son Blake, Megan and Nathan got married but broke up a short while later. In 2011, Megan made headlines for some blog posts where she accused MTV of forcing her to lie. She also revealed that Nathan had been physically abusive towards her and had cheated, both of which contributed to their split. In 2015, the young mom was in the news once again, this time for the birth of her second child, son Silas. The father is her boyfriend, Chase Eubanks, who she met through fellow 16 & Pregnant alum Kayla Jordan. The couple, though not engaged, are reportedly considering marriage.
2 Christina Robinson, Season 3
At first, viewers thought Christina Robinson had found a good guy in her boyfriend, Isaiah. He was an aspiring football superstar. But Isaiah chose to turn down a football scholarship in order to marry and support Christina. However, things took a nasty turn in their relationship after daughter Destiny was born. Isaiah's family had never approved of his relationship with Christina, and they pressured him into getting a DNA test, which led to the demise of their marriage. Things have seemingly been rocky for Christina after her episode aired. While the teen mom is mostly private on social media, reports surfaced that her boyfriend's family is still causing drama. Isaiah's mother, Kathleen Green, was reportedly suing MTV for defamation (or a bad edit job, in some people's opinion). Another source reported that Christina and Isaiah both have children with other people now. The source shared Isaiah shares a child with his new girlfriend, while Christina is expecting a baby with her boyfriend, Dalonte.
1 Izabella Tovar, Season 3
Of all the teen moms featured on the show, Izabella seemed like she was in one of the better situations. She had a boyfriend, Jairo Rodriguez, who seemed to love her and wasn't a flake, and her family was as supportive (both financially and emotionally) as they could be. But that didn't stop this diva from appearing ungrateful, unattached, and bratty on camera. You would expect a teen mom with this much of a support system to show a bit of gratitude to the cameras. It seemed like Izabella didn't even like her boyfriend and resented the fact that she was pregnant. She hid her pregnancy from her immediate family for over 7 months, and it was especially cringe-worthy watching her sit down with her relatives to tell them the news. Even though her boyfriend was being supportive, her parents made him jump through hoops to even have access to baby Enrique when he was born. Though Izabella was less than a fan favorite among viewers when her episode aired, it seems she's been doing well for herself. Jairo and Izabella got engaged in 2011 and welcomed a daughter in 2014. The couple has been together since they were 14 (Izabella first became pregnant when she was 15). In May 2016, it was reported the young mom graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Utah, making her the first 16 and Pregnant star to earn her Bachelor's degree.
