15 Actresses We Want To Play Disney Princesses
We are all about these live action Disney movies. It's been so fun seeing our childhood princesses and princes come to life on the big screen. And even more fun to watch our favorite actors and actresses portray them! Like Emma Watson as Belle from The Beauty and The Beast; how perfect is that? She is the perfect person to portray Belle because she's beautiful and smart. Plus, we can't wait to hear her sing! We also loved seeing Lily Rose twirl around in a blue dress as Cinderella and the animal kingdom come to life in The Jungle Book. Watching Lily Collins and Kristen Stewart both take on Snow White was fun but not as magical as seeing Angelina Jolie transform into Maleficent with the wicked bone structure and vampy red lips. It's just so cool to see the modern versions of our childhood stories in the movie theaters as adults. But who else should take on the role of becoming a Disney princess? It's a pretty important role to take on. So it shouldn't go to just anyone. These are the actresses we would love to see portray our favorite Disney heroines up on the big screen.
15 Celina Jade As Mulan
Celina Jade is our pick for the live action Mulan movie because she is a bada$$ who could kick some serious Hun but with Li Shang and the boys. Why do we love Celina so much? First of all, she's beautiful. Secondly, she is a skilled martial artist. Celina studied archery, shooting and Tae Kwon Do from her father who was American Kung Fu legend, Roy Horan. So she would actually be able to do a lot of her own stunt work in the movie! Plus. she's fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin so could deliver some lines of the movie in a native Chinese language. And third, Celina is super smart! She graduated top of her class with First Class Honours in BSc Management from the London School of Economics. She's the total package! Celina is also a vegetarian and opened a vegetarian restaurant in her native Hong Kong with her fiance. The vegetarian restaurant doesn't have much to do with being Mulan but it is pretty cool.
14 Blake Lively As Elsa
Just look at Blake rocking that side braid and try to deny her Elsa-ness. You can't! She is the perfect Elsa! Blake already has the long blonde braid and steely blue eyes. Throw her in the blue gown and she totally looks the part! Plus, she's an incredibly strong woman. Blake is a mother of two, movie star, spokeswoman and still manages to hang out with friends and family and perfect recipes in the kitchen. She is a superwoman, just like Elsa. And as much as she loves having the steamy Ryan Reynolds by her side, we're sure Blake could do it all by herself just like Elsa does. The only thing we're not sure about is if she can sing. And you know Elsa needs a good voice on her to be able to belt out that "Let It Go" number. But as long as we get Elsa in the dress, with the braid on the stairs of an ice palace, we're sure we could figure out the voice.
13 Emma Stone As Anna
How cute would Emma Stone be as Anna from Frozen? Pretty perfect, right? She has the perfect amount of awkward cuteness to pull off the role of Anna. Plus, we know she can sing after her starring role in La La Land with Ryan Gosling and time on Broadway in Cabaret. Emma hasn't really gotten into the Disney thing but we think it would be a nice change from her. She's probably tired of all of the awards shows and stuffiness after the drama of La La Land. Emma needs a light-hearted movie where she can shake things off and have some fun. We'd love to see her running around in the snow with a cute guy and a reindeer. Plus, how great would Emma be opposite a little snowman Olaf? We can just imagine the adorable and hilarious scenes together. Emma is Disney and she definitely needs to do this movie.
12 Aja Naomi King As Tiana
How gorgeous is Aja Naomi King? And this photo of her just screams Disney princess. Can't you just picture her in that beautiful ballgown Tiana wears at the end of the movie with her hair upswept? Aja would be pure perfection in that role! Usually, she is dealing with darker stuff on How To Get Away With Murder. So taking on the role of the spunky Tiana who spends half the movie as a frog would probably be a nice break for Aja. Aja recently had her big movie role playing Cherry Turner in The Birth of A Nation. In order to not be only typecast into dramatic roles, it would be a good idea for Aja to take on a light role like a Disney movie. She would have a great time singing and dancing with a big cast instead of having to be dramatic and cry on cue.
11 Amanda Seyfried As Rapunzel
How has Amanda Seyfriend not already been cast as Rapunzel in a live action Disney movie? She is so obviously the perfect person to play Rapunzel! She's got the gorgeous long blonde hair. She's got the big beautiful earnest eyes. She has the wide-eyed curiosity. And she has the voice! Amanda already belted it out as Cosette in Les Miserables so we're sure she could handle the songs Rapunzel sings in Tangled. We'd love to see her running around with Flynn Rider and a little green lizard. But who should we cast as her perfect Flynn? We need someone smooth and charming but with a bad boy streak. We're thinking Matt Bomer would be the perfect choice. Or maybe Jake Gyllenhaal? Something tells us Amanda would be happy with either option and so would we! And we're also thinking Susan Sarandon or Meryl Streep for Mother Gothel. Now that's a movie we want to watch!
10 Rose Leslie As Merida
You'll recognize Rose Leslie as the fiery Ygritte from Game of Thrones. She was the one who got Jon Snow to break his vow of chastity for a person beyond the wall. If you're not a GoT fan (though you should be) all you need to know is that Ygritte was a strong, sassy woman who didn't need no man. But she did eventually fall in love with Jon Snow and have a forbidden relationship with him. And in real life, Rose Leslie and Kit Harrington also started their own relationship, which made fans swoon even harder. But Rose isn't just a swoon-worthy babe - she's a fierce warrior woman! Which means she would make the perfect Merida. Merida was an independent woman who didn't want her parents to choose her future husband. Merida wanted to pick her own path. And so does Rose! In Game of Thrones, Rose didn't let her people tell her not to be with Jon Snow. She followed her heart. Rose is meant to play Merida!
9 Bella Thorne As Ariel
How cute would Bella Thorne be as Ariel? Sure, she might not be the usual pick. She hasn't done a ton of movies or anything like that. But she is the perfect young ingenue! Bella is only 19 years old so she could pull off Ariel's young naivety. We can't have a 30-year-old running around and signing away her voice for a chance to run around on the beach. 30-year-olds know to read the fine print. Teenagers do not. Plus Bella has already worked on the Disney channel, so we're sure she'd be a shoo-in for a live action Disney movie. And look at that red hair! Doesn't that just scream Ariel? We can already see her floating around with Flounder and Sebastian. Plus, Bella has also dabbled in music so she would have the skills to belt out "Part of Your World" as she swirls in the sea with dinglehoppers and the like.
8 Natalie Dormer As Jane
Jane is a tough cookie to cast. Not just any actress can take on the role of Tarzan's Jane who travels to Africa, meets a troop of gorillas, befriends a jungle man, teaches him English and how to behave like a human, stands up to her enemies, and then decides to give up her life to live in the jungle with Tarzan and his ape family. That's quite a character! The movie might be called Tarzan but isn't Jane the real hero here? She has a complete transformation and gives it all up. Plus, she's a strong woman. She's smart - Jane is a researcher. She's a teacher. She's a loving daughter. She is adaptable. It's going to take a force to portray her. So we're putting Natalie Dormer up to the task. In Game of Thrones, she played a sweet princess on the outside who was actually brilliant and conniving. And in The Hunger Games, she shaved half her head to be a bada$$ film director with the rebellion. Natalie Dormer is the ultimate adaptable actress and perfect to play Jane.
7 Hannah Simone As Jasmine
You probably know Hannah Simone as Cece, Jess' best friend on New Girl. On New Girl, she gets to play a spunky model with hilarious friends and sassy comebacks. Which is exactly the attitude we need in our Jasmine! Jasmine is not your typical helpless princess. She stands up to her father. She fights for her right to choose who she wants to love and for her right to marry for love. Jasmine needs that fight that Hannah Simone has. Plus, Hannah is brilliant. She received her university degree and worked as a human rights and refugees officer at the United Nations in England for a year. She also worked as a VJ for Much Music in Canada so she definitely has a passion for dance and music. We're not sure if she can actually sing but we're sure after all that time in music, she definitely picked up enough to carry it off.
6 Julia Jones As Pocahontas
You might remember Julia Jones as Leah Clearwater from The Twilight Series. Or from her role in The Ridiculous 6 with Adam Sandler or on the Netflix series, Longmire. Plus she's got three movies coming out in 2017. Julia is everywhere! This girl is totally killing it. Julia isn't a singer but she is a trained dancer. She started studying at The Boston Ballet School at age four. So we're envisioning a really kicka$$ dance routine for "The Colors of The Wind." Julia is also smart; she studied English at Columbia University. And she's gorgeous! Julia is of Choctaw, Chickasaw, and African-American descent which gives us this woman who has modeled for Levi, The Gap, and L'Oreal. We think Julia would make the best Pocahontas. But who would play her John Smith? We need someone with luscious blonde locks. Maybe Chris Hemsworth with his long blonde Thor hair? We'd watch that movie!
5 Dianna Agron As Tinkerbell
This is perfect, right? Dianna Agron so IS Tinkerbell! She's got the cute, sassy, blonde thing down pat. And we love when she has her hair upswept or sweet and short. We can already see her with little wings and cute green dress. Plus, after her time on Glee, we know that Dianna can sing and dance. Though technically, we don't think Tinkerbell does much singing and dancing. But with Dianna in the role, we're sure they could add a little song and dance number for her to do. Or she could take on the title role of Tinkerbell in her own movie. Dianna could definitely hold her own in her own movie. It's about time she gets to be the star. Maybe we could reunite the Glee cast and let them be the rest of the fairies to back up Tinkerbell. That's if Agron can find the time. She has a couple of movies coming out in 2017 and is very involved in her charitable work. Plus, Dianna is a newlywed having married Winston Marshall from Mumford & Sons in October. But we're sure she'd find time to play Tink!
4 Mila Kunis As Meg
You see it, right? Mila Kunis would make an awesome Meg in Hercules. For Meg, you need someone a little sassy and a little more edgy than your typical Disney heroine. You can't have someone who is just sugary and bubbly with a big grin. Because Meg had a bit of bite to her. She was an independent woman. She literally made a deal with the devil. But she also allowed herself to be vulnerable and fall for Hercules. She fell in love and sacrificed for him. Mila Kunis would be perfect for this role. She's cute but also sexy. She can definitely pull off Meg. We know Mila has the dancing chops since she killed it in Black Swan with Natalie Portman. Can she sing? We're not sure. But we really hope so! Playing Meg would be perfect for Mila. Plus, now that she has two young kids, it'd be fun for this mom to try her hand at a kid-friendly Disney movie.
3 Gina Rodriguez As Esmeralda
We love Gina Rodriguez! This woman is a powerhouse and we'd be happy to see her on the big screen in anything. But especially as Esmeralda! Gina would make a kick butt Esmeralda because she isn't afraid to take risks or write her own rules. Gina has always played the game by her own rules. She has refused roles that portray stereotypes of Latino people, like turning down a part in Devious Maids. And she shuts out all the haters who body shame her. Gina is beautiful and she works hard to maintain her curves. The woman is always posting photos and videos of herself training, boxing, and working on her Muay Thai skills. And she is all about empowerment - which is totally Esmeralda. Gina would also look awesome in Esmeralda's dress and rocking the tambourine. Can she sing and dance? We sure hope so! She gets to do some dancing on Jane the Virgin, so we're sure she'd be great in this role.
2 Lucy Hale As Snow White
Yes, we know many actresses have already taken on the role of snow white like Lily Collins and Kristen Stewart. But we sort of think Lucy Hale would be the perfect one to take on this role. Doesn't she just look like Snow White? She has that perfectly pale and innocent thing going on. She has the dark brown hair and we are sure her lips could be ruby red with a quick swipe of lipstick. And we know that Lucy can sing and dance! Remember when she was on American Juniors? It was the short-lived kid version of American Idol that Lucy went on to win with a few other kids. But she has released more music since then. So we can definitely see her singing to the birds by the well and with the dwarves in their little cottage. Lucy would be great in this role! And now that PLL is over she has the time to take on new projects!
1 Elizabeth Olsen As Alice In Wonderland
Yes, Olsen as in the OTHER sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley. Doesn't Elizabeth Olsen look like she would be the perfect Alice in Wonderland? We know Mia Wasikowska was pretty great as Alice starring alongside Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. But if they felt like going in another direction with a new movie, we think Elizabeth would be the perfect choice. She has that ethereal and mysterious look. Elizabeth would be great at capturing the innocent curiosity that Alice needs to have to wander down the rabbit hole. We think Elizabeth would be able to do that wide-eyed thing that Alice does so well. She would be perfectly fascinated by everything happening in Wonderland. Plus, it would be a fun film for Elizabeth. She has done a few hardcore dramas, like Mary Martha May Marlene, and adventure movies like The Avengers 2. So it's time for Elizabeth to have some fun in a nice Disney movie.
