15 Cast Members Of One Tree Hill Where Are They Now?
When One Tree Hill came on the air in 2003, people quickly became obsessed with the small North Carolina town and all its inhabitants. I mean, sure, not everyone had a brother they didn't know about. However, whether you were a popular cheerleader, a jock, a secret artist, or a bit of a nerd, there was probably someone for you to identify with.
As the seasons went on, the characters grew and got involved in increasingly complicated storylines. Just about everything you can imagine happened in that tiny town, and fans tuned in week after week. The show has officially been off the air for five years now, but honestly, true fans would happily re-watch it again and again. There was just something about it that captured us. Whether you identified with the scrappy single mom who opened her own cafe, or you wanted to have a love like Nathan and Haley's (or, you identified with Nathan and Haley's relationship struggles as they grew up and realized they were changing), there was something to pull you back episode after episode.
While some of the show's stars have stayed in the spotlight and continued their successful careers in the entertainment industry, others have kept a lower profile. If you've ever found yourself wondering what the cast of One Tree Hill has been up to since the show wrapped, well - we've got answers for you.
15 Chad Michael Murray (Lucas Scott)
While he was on One Tree Hill as everyone's favourite good guy, Chad Michael Murray was frequently featured in teen movies playing the dreamy, dreamy love interest (A Cinderella Story, Freaky Friday, the list goes on and on). However, as he's matured, so have his roles. Most recently, he returned to television as Agent Jack Thompson in the series Agent Carter. Acting isn't all he's been up to, though. It seems that the blonde babe took a hint from the character he played for so many years and decided to try his hand at writing. In 2011 he released a novel called Everlast, and he's supposed to be releasing a romance novel towards the end of 2017 that he co-authored with Heather Graham. Uh… we're predicting that romance novel gets turned into a movie with Chad Michael Murray as the leading male character because he still fully deserves heartthrob status.
14 James Lafferty (Nathan Scott)
Since he left his longest and most well known role as basketball player Nathan Scott, James Lafferty has kept a fairly low profile. Most notably, he's ventured behind the camera into the world of directing, with three episodes of the television show The Royals under his belt. He's also starred in two films - Waffle Street and Small Town Crime - and appeared as a recurring character in Underground and Crisis. However, in general, Lafferty has been keeping things pretty quiet - you really don't hear much from him. It's possible that he just got tired of dealing with publicity, though. During his time on the show, Lafferty ran a fundraiser basketball game for several years before putting a stop to it because fans just got too crazy and behaved too poorly, so perhaps he's just content to take his One Tree Hill savings and lead a quiet life in sunny California. Can't blame the guy.
13 Hilarie Burton (Peyton Sawyer)
Peyton Sawyer was the saviour for every girl who just didn't feel like she belonged on the cheer squad, every girl who wanted to pursue something slightly more alternative than her peers were doing. And, it seems that the world of television has been treating Burton well - she's been pretty fully booked for years. After she left One Tree Hill, the next year, she got the role of sassy Sarah Ellis on the crime drama White Collar. Just as that was wrapping, she snagged a recurring role on the smash hit drama Grey's Anatomy. Those are just two of the most well-known of the television shows she's been on over the past few years - it seems she's realized the small screen is just as lucrative as the silver screen. Burton has also been in a relationship with gorgeous actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan for nearly a decade, and has a son with him.
12 Sophia Bush (Brooke Davis)
Brooke Davis was an enigma of a character - at first, she seemed like a mean cheerleader, but audiences soon found out there was a lot of hurt and complexity behind why she acted the way she did. Sophia Bush did a phenomenal job portraying the character, and she certainly hasn't been hurting for work since. She's had a few film roles and recurring character roles in shows, but her prime gig since 2014 has been as Detective Erin Lindsay in Chicago P.D. However, one of the things Bush is most known for has nothing to do with the roles she takes - it's what she's been doing with the voice that fame has given her. Bush is a devoted activist who frequently champions her various causes, from environmentalism to animal welfare to women's equality and same sex marriage, just to name a few. She's always willing to stand up for what she believes in - and that's just another reason we love her.
11 Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley James Scott)
As you might have guessed from her character's musical ability, Bethany Joy Lenz has always split her professional life between the entertainment industry and the music industry. Over the years, she's been in a handful of bands and released solo projects, as well as snagged recurring roles in several shows such as Dexter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., American Gothic, and most recently Colony. While she was on the show, she produced a musical based on Nicholas Sparks' The Notebook, so who knows - perhaps her next stop is combining her love of music and her love of acting and becoming the next Lin-Manuel Miranda. Hey, it could happen! She also has a daughter with her ex-husband, so Lenz likely spends a lot of her down time when she's not working on projects just hanging out with her girl. Overall, it's a pretty quiet life for her, just like her former television husband James Lafferty.
10 Lee Norris (Mouth McFadden)
Lee Norris' character Mouth started out as a bit of a typical nerd, but fans soon fell in love with him because they realized he had a heart of gold - and was pretty hilarious, too. Unlike many of his co-stars, who got their start in Hollywood as young aspiring actors in their early 20s, Norris has been in front of the camera since he was a child. He played the irritating Stuart Minkus on the television show Boy Meets World for years, and after his time on One Tree Hill, he returned to his former role as an adult Stuart Minkus on the spin-off show Girl Meet World. He also appeared in the acclaimed film Gone Girl. However, other than that, Norris has been MIA from the entertainment industry. Fans know that he married his wife back in 2011, so he's likely just hanging out, relaxing and enjoy his life.
9 Paul Johansson (Dan Scott)
There's no question that Paul Johansson is an incredible actor. After all, if you're able to play a character as villainous as Dan Scott, you've got to have some chops. However, like many of the former One Tree Hill cast, Johansson has been keeping a pretty low profile in Hollywood. He's starred in a few films, including Kid Cannabis and Dear Eleanor, and even appeared in three episodes of the beloved Mad Men. Other than that, though, he hasn't really been up to much - at least, as far as we can tell from his work in the entertainment industry. Who knows - maybe Johansson has decided to become a businessman like Dan Scott and open up his own entrepreneurial venture. Honestly, since Johansson has had so few roles apart from the infamous Dan Scott, it's always a bit startling to see him playing anything else - the two have become so linked in everyone's mind!
8 Antwon Tanner (Antwon “Skills” Taylor)
While he was starring on One Tree Hill as Lucas' friend Skills, Tanner was also juggling other film projects, and he appeared in movies including Coach Carter, Payback, Dysfunctional Friends and more. However, he's kept pretty busy since then as well. He had several film projects in the works in 2014 including Q, Cru, and 7 Faces of Jack The Ripper. Unlike some of his former co-stars such as Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton, though, you probably won't see Tanner on any red carpets. While he's taken on a few roles, he hasn't been a part of anything as big as One Tree Hill since the show wrapped. Still - we have a feeling that being a part of a successful show that lasted so many seasons means you get quite a few bucks saved from those Skills paychecks, so perhaps Tanner doesn't really need to work and only takes on roles that really appeal to him. Oh, and he's apparently hosting karaoke nights, because… why not?
7 Barbara Alyn Woods (Deb Scott)
Unlike some of the younger cast of the show, for whom One Tree Hill was really one of their first huge gigs, Barbara Alyn Woods, who played Nathan Scott's mother Deb Scott, had a successful career before ever stepping foot in North Carolina. She started acting in the late 1980s and had steady work throughout the '90s and '00s. Nowadays, she spends a lot of her time focusing on her daughters. It seems that a love of being in front of the camera and embodying other characters runs in the family, as her daughters have started to snag roles in films, so she's involved in helping guide them through the process as well. If she ever decides to return full force to the acting world, we have a feeling there would be plenty of roles for the blonde bombshell. Perhaps she might even snag the role of one of her daughters' movie moms - talk about keeping it in the family!
6 Moira Kelly (Karen Roe)
Since she stopped playing the scrappy Karen Roe on the show, Moira Kelly has kept a fairly low profile. In fact, apart from an appearance in one episode of Drop Dead Diva, one episode of Numb3rs, and two made-for-tv films, she hasn't really been spotted in Hollywood much. While Kelly's luck in love as Karen Roe wasn't always the best, in real life, she married a Texas businessman back in 2000, and shortly after, had two children, a boy named Eamon and a girl named Ella. Her children would be in their teenage years now, so perhaps Kelly is busy trying to focus on raising them, and may return to acting once they're shipped off to college or enter the workforce. I mean, sacrifice so that your child can have the best life possible? Seems exactly what Karen Roe would do. And who knows, maybe Kelly will decide to take a page from her long-time character's book and open up a small neighbourhood cafe someday.
5 Barry Corbin (Whitey)
We didn't always see Barry Corbin's character Whitey that much on the show, but there's no question that Whitey had a huge impact on all the younger characters - and no one but Corbin would have been able to pull off his cantankerous softie with a heart of gold vibe. Corbin has been acting since most of his young co-stars were still in diapers, and it turns out, he's been one of the busiest since the show wrapped. He was a main cast member on two television shows, Anger Management and Suit Up, and has even stayed in the loop by appearing on a Netflix original show - he plays a veterinarian on The Ranch. It seems like Hollywood isn't quite his scene, so despite his work in the entertainment industry, Corbin has a ranch in Texas where he loves to ride horses and enjoy the country air whenever he's not required to be on set.
4 Jackson Brundage (Jamie Scott)
Okay, while you may have guessed simply based on how many years have passed since he first appeared on the show, it's still a little unbelievable - Jackson Brundage, who played Nathan and Haley's son Jamie, is now 16 years old. It's crazy. And, he's proved that he didn't just luck out with his first big gig. After One Tree Hill wrapped in 2012, Brundage immediately found another regular television gig as a main cast member on See Dad Run, a Nick at nite sitcom. In 2015, he also snagged another role, as the voice of a main character in the series Harvey Breaks. While the majority of his success since OTH wrapped has been on networks aimed at younger audiences, that's where a ton of major celebrities get their adays. So, we have a feeling that in a few years' time when Brundage ages out of that sphere, you'll be seeing a lot more of him.
3 Lisa Goldstein Kirsch (Millicent Huxtable)
Apart from appearing in one episode of the series Drop Dead Diva, Goldstein Kirsch has been MIA from the entertainment industry since leaving One Tree Hill. However, her personal life is pretty adorable. Goldstein Kirsch met Brendan Kirsch on the set of the show - he's a sports coordinator who was the basketball coordinator for the show. There was a spark, and the two ended up marrying. They've had an adorable baby boy, Flynn, in 2014. Given that she's the mom of a toddler, and that Kirsch is probably busy with his job as a sports coordinator, it may be that Goldstein Kirsch is just taking a step back while her son is young to focus on enjoying time with him. It's a luxury that many celebrities have, since they may not be as dependent on a steady paycheck as regular people, so why not take advantage of it and enjoy time with your tot?
2 Austin Nichols (Julian Baker)
Unlike other cast members, Austin Nichols' character Julian Baker wasn't on the show from the beginning. He appeared in later seasons as a love interest for Brooke, and stayed till the show wrapped. However, perhaps joining a successful show later in its run was a hidden blessing, as Nichols hasn't been pigeonholed for his One Tree Hill role to the same extent that some of his cast members were. He appeared in a few episodes of the acclaimed show Ray Donovan, as well as in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Mob Doctor and Bates Motel. And, he managed to snag the role of Spencer Monroe in the smash hit AMC drama The Walking Dead. Overall, Baker has been really busy since the show wrapped, and though he's had a fair bit of success in television, we kind of want to see him as a leading man in a few feature films as well. Apparently he absolutely adores movies and is constantly watching them, so who knows - that may be where you see him next.
1 Stephen Colletti (Chase Adams)
Stephen Colletti first gained public attention as himself, playing a wealthy teen on the show Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. After his early fame on a reality show, he decided he wanted to stay behind the camera - but he wanted to be playing a character other than himself. He played Clean Teen Chase Adams for several seasons, starting out as a smaller recurring character and finally getting upgraded to the status of a season regular. As far as roles go when first starting out in the industry, it's kind of the dream. His role as Chase helped him get a foothold as an actor, and he's since gone on to appear in several projects including a few episodes of Hit The Floor, as well as films such as Summer Forever, The Suicide Note, and two that are in post-production. It's a bit jarring to see him not starring as a teen anymore, but regardless - fans are dying to see what he tackles next.
