15 Celebs Who Were Total Sorority Divas At One Time In Their Lives
The current celebrity gossip is always entertaining. It is exhilarating to find out what a favorite celebrity is up to and what they plan to do next, what movie they are filming, whether they are taking a break, who their latest partner is, and whether they're having a baby and with whom? Their futures are so promising, full of drama, and keep the magazines on the racks filled with never-ending content. But do you know the pasts of your favorite celebrity as well? Most of us already know which of society's favorite stars went through rehab, or had a bad breakup, but do you know which ones were in a sorority? Can you picture it? These leading ladies running around with red solo cups and pledging allegiance to their various groups? Some you can, but some will completely blow your mind.
Many celebrities went to college before becoming famous, but only some would go to the Greek! Many actresses, singers, and other influential celebrities are proud Sorority girls from various schools and you would never guess which ones! 15 Elizabeth Banks
It should come as no surprise that the beautiful and talented Elizabeth Banks, known recently for her role as Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games, was in a sorority. Elizabeth Banks attended the University of Pennsylvania where she joined the Delta Delta Delta sorority. At the end of her University degree, she graduated Magna cum Laude, a feat for which she should be proud, as Banks was the first in her family to graduate from university. It was also within her first few days at school that she met her husband, Max Handelman. With her school experience and time with her sorority, Banks has become the skilled actress, producer, and director that you know and love today. Perhaps her success had something to do with her experiences within the Tri Delta sorority! Most know Angela Kinsey as the uptight, cranky, strict character she plays on the television show The Office. Her character, also named Angela, is all about following the rules, isn't overly friendly, and doesn't take no for an answer. Unlike her character on the show, Angela Kinsey is a sorority girl! Attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas, Kinsey was a part of the Chi Omega sorority. Through her time with the sorority, Angela Kinsey believes those experiences helped her learn the skills that are necessary to work with people. She identified her sorority role as the person who often relieved the tension and was the comic relief when things got too serious or boring. Kinsey believed that the Chi Omega's were trend setters, and she looks back on her time as a sorority girl as a positive experience, knowing that it taught her things that helped her get where she is today.

Kristin Chenoweth is commonly known for her many roles and her unique voice. During her time at Oklahoma City University, she studied musical theater and voice, and went on to get a master's degree in opera performance. Kristin Chenoweth was also a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority during her time there. No doubt it was her experiences in university that increased her skills and eventually led her to where she is today. Over the years, Chenoweth has made it apparent that she is still proud to have the connection to her time in the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. During the 69th Annual Tony Awards, Kristin gave a small shout out to her sorority, when discussing the Greeks, and then made the crescent shape with her hand to the camera - the Gamma Phi Beta sorority's symbol. It is nice to see a celebrity acknowledging their past and identifying the important impact it had on her life.

Comedian, actress, producer, and writer - Wanda Sykes has taken Hollywood by storm. Throughout the years, she has been featured in several television shows where her humor and spunk have left people in stitches. This talented woman was also a sorority diva! At Hampton University, Wanda Sykes was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority (or commonly known as AKA). AKA is one of the oldest Greek letter sororities, which was established by black college women in 1908. Sykes was initiated into the sorority while working towards her Bachelor of Science degree. Since her university days, Sykes has done various acting jobs and been a strong advocate for LGBT rights. Wanda Sykes has also won the Funniest Female Stand-Up Comic in 2001 at the American Comedy Awards. Being in a sorority with Wanda Sykes would have been a lot of fun, although there may have been a lot of sass!

Before fame came to her on American Idol, singer Carrie Underwood was a Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority member while attending Northeastern State University. There, she studied and graduated magna cum laude with a Mass Communications degree. While at university, Underwood said that her and her sorority sisters would often go to the sports games, fund-raise, and always had a float in the parade. After graduating, Carrie Underwood then went on to win American Idol, released her own albums, and won many awards. Kathy Bates attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where she majored in theater and graduated in the year 1969. There, she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, the same sorority as Michelle Pfeiffer, just a different school). Many girls from the Alpha Delta Pi celebrate the fact that Kathy Bates was once in their sorority, and they are often found bragging that she is their sister! Kathy Bates is an inspiration to any aspiring actress or arts student, especially those in the Alpha Delta Pi sorority! Currently, Bates is in the pre-production stage of Bad Santa 2, where she is expected to play the character of Sunny Soke.
9 Sophia Bush
The dimpled and gorgeous Sophia Bush is well known for her beauty as well as her role as Brooke Davis in the popular television series, One Tree Hill. Sophia Bush was attending the University of Southern California studying journalism for three years before she was offered the role of Brooke Davis for the show. While at the University of Southern California, she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Bush continues to be an inspiration to the girls through her acting as well as her can-do attitude when pairing up with non-profit organizations to raise awareness for different causes. After growing up in California, she went to attend the University of California, Riverside and studied economics until 2005. There, similar to Sophia Bush, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. After she left to pursue her acting career, she had various roles, but didn't get back to her sorority roots until she was cast in the horror film, Sorority Row. The film is about a group of sorority girls who try to cover up the death of one of their sisters, while also trying to avoid being killed themselves by a serial killer! While filming, all the main stars were staying in the same hotel, and Jamie Chung said that it was kind of like their pseudo-sorority house. Hopefully Jamie Chung's experiences with her actual sorority were nothing as scary and dramatic as those found in Sorority Row!

You have probably seen her face in a bunch of different places. Aubrey O'Day is a singer, actress, designer, reality television personality, and model! With her multifaceted approach to life, it is no surprise that while in college she was a sorority girl. Aubrey O'Day attended the University of California, Irvine, where she studied political science. She became a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority (a sorority with a musical background), which also happens to be the same sorority to which the famous Condoleezza Rice belonged! Before graduating from the University of California, O'Day went and spent a year overseas, then returned to graduate with a political science degree. Recently, O'Day took part in Celebrity Big Brother, where she came in fifth place on the show. Supposedly, Jennifer Garner wasn't the leader type, but she was sure to have everything organized for the president. In her younger years, Julia Louis-Dreyfus attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. It was there that she studied theater, giving her the skills she uses so flawlessly today. At Northwestern University, she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. With her outgoing and life-loving attitude, the sorority was probably full of laughter complete with pranks and possibly some hazing. The fundraising and philanthropic sorority trait must have stuck with Burch, as years later she created the Tory Burch Foundation in 2009. All she want's to do is have some fun! This singer, songwriter is known for her upbeat and catchy music! Unlike the other sorority celebs, Sheryl Crow belonged to more than one sorority! While at the University of Missouri, she became a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta and was initiated into Alpha Mu. When she graduated, she was also awarded honorary doctorates from the University of Missouri. Then, she also became a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota fraternity, which is an international music fraternity for women. Sheryl Crow is an alumnus of the Omicron Delta Kappa Society as well! It seems that throughout the years, Sheryl Crow just couldn't get enough and was part of various clubs and organizations. Her passion to help others is seen constantly within her life and she enjoys being involved. She continues to put out new music and share her love of life with everyone!
