Scary things happen in this world every single day. Forget the world, scary things happen in our solar system every day. We all know this, but we choose to ignore it because if we thought about it all the time it would be hard to function as a human being. We know that crossing the street can kill us, we can catch a horrible disease, or that meteor can come crashing into the earth and there would be little do it that could stop it. These situations are all explainable though, and easy enough push down in our brains. Then, there are really strange things that occur without an explanation and the best thing we can do is try to forget them entirely. The more mysterious something is, the creepier it is. From bizarre dash cam footage, terrifying killers walking free, weird murder mysteries, and unexplainable phenomena this list has it all except for explanations. Our world is filled with creepy and bizarre things and by accepting it you can live your best life. If we woke up everyday thinking about how many scary things there are out there we would never get anything done, but that doesn't mean it's not interesting to read up on them every once in awhile. Here are 15 of the creepiest things in the world right now that all of us choose to ignore. And at the end of the day, isn't the only thing really to fear, fear itself?

15 Cannibal & murder walks free

Issei Sagawa is a Japanese man whom in 1981 while he was studying and living in Paris, murdered and ate a Dutch woman named Renee Hartevelt who was a student along with him. He says the he chose her because of her beauty and intelligence, thinks he felt he lacked. By eating her, he was hoping to absorb her energy. He was found insane by the French court at the time and sent to an institution. When his crime became public, he got a lot of attention and this is why it's though that France deported him back to Japan. Then, France sealed his documents and wouldn't give them to Japanese authorities. The Japanese authorities had nothing to charge him with even though everyone knew of his crime and he was released into the public. He lives freely now and has even become something of a celebrity. He openly talks about his crime and has even admitted he would like to eat human meat again. Um.

14 Creature caught on camera

An unfortunate group of guys driving out in the middle of the Saudi Arabian desert, specifically one of the emptier parts came across something terrifying. They were able to catch it all on on camera and have the terrifying footage to share with all of us. You can see the white robed stumbling figure in the distance. The way it's walking is very peculiar and it does not seem very strong on it's legs. Not that we would ever get to confirm. The guys are reeving their car going and close and further away from the thing as it starts to stumble closer to them. This is far from the first creepy footage that has found it's way onto the internet but it still isn't enough to stop people from going into creepy places with their cameras. Do you REALLY want to come across something like this in real life?

13 Serial killer is now a wife and mother

Karla Homolka lives freely and is a mother of three and a wife in Quebec these days. She was an infamous serial killer alongside her husband Paul Bernado in Ontario, Canada. They were dubbed the 'Ken and Barbie' of serial killers thanks to their good looks. She got a lesser sentence than him because her defense team painted her as an abused and controlled woman who had little choice in the things that happened. The fact of the matter is this woman helped her husband rape and murder girls, including her younger sister. They filmed a lot of their crimes and it clearly shows Karla as a willing and active participant in it. She only spent 12 years in jail for the horrible things she did and now gets the privilege of having a family, something her victims never will.

12 Brain eating amoeba

There is a lot of things that can kill us, we all know that. And in order to be able to function like a normal human and have a productive life we have to sort of push that down and ignore it. One of the creepier things that has been making the news is brain eating amoeba that lives in freshwater. As in it can come out of our taps and into us. Thankfully, you have to ingest it up through your sinuses so it can get to your brain in order to kill you, drinking it is not enough. Each year we are seeing more and more cases on the news about it. There is a 98 % chance of death should these amoeba get into your brain and yet people still enter lakes and rivers. If you use a neti pot, use it with filtered and boiled water. Plug your nose in bodies of freshwater.

11 Spontaneous Human Combustion

Spontaneous human combustion is exactly what it sounds like. It is when a human body that is living or at the most very recently deceased, combust without any outside forces sparking it. Something obviously happens internally in the body leading it to basically explode from the inside out. There has been a lot of research as to why and how this happens, but no conclusions have been made. There are a couple of similar factors though that people whom this happens to share in common. They include that its usually older females who are alcoholics, hands and feet fall off, and the clothes usually remain unharmed after the body combusts. We have no idea why or how this happens to this day, here's hoping it doesn't happen to you!

10 Overtoun Bridge

Overtoun Bridge is located in Scotland. There are a lot of cliffs and bridges in the world that have become notorious suicide spots. San Francisco has the Golden Gate Bridge for example. It isn't that confusing or weird, sad as it is, when a spot like that becomes a suicide hot spot for people. Infact it is almost logical. The Overtoun bridge is notorious for being a suicide spot, but not because people go there to jump. Dogs do. They all jump from the same side and spot, it is all long nosed breeds, and they jump in clear and good weather. According to old reports dogs have jumping from there at the rate of at least one a year, every year since at least the 1960's. No one knows what is drawing these dogs to their death, but whatever it is it's unsettling.

9 Proof of past lives

Dorothy Eady was a young girl that became obsessed with Ancient Egypt after being taken to an exhibit on it by her parents. After that she told her parents that's where she came from. Her whole life became dedicated to the learning about Ancient Egypt and she eventually moved there. She would go into trances and write down hieroglyphs talking about her past life as a Priestess in Ancient Egypt. She is far from being the first person to claim to remember her past life but she was also able to prove it in a way. She was able to help archeologists find the Temple Garden and even discover a previously unknown tunnel in the temple. She died in Egypt and at that point was better known as Omm Sety, her Egyptian name.

8 Outbreak of demonic possession

Outbreak is a scary word, because it is usually associated with something infectious that is not fun at all. Like the flu, or STI's. But what would be scarier? An outbreak of a physical disease that at the least be recognized or an outbreak of demonic possession? In 2016 a girl school in Peru was shut down and almost 100 of its students hospitalized because of an outbreak of 'demonic possession' that caused them to hallucinate and all have the same visions of a man in black trying to kill them. The students were also having seizures and fainting along with their terrifying hallucinations, which prompted the hospitalization. The girls had trouble recalling exactly what was happening, but the shared hallucination is very scary. This outbreak has still not be explained.

7 Hoia Baciu

Hoia Baciu forest in Transylvania, Romania. Transylvania may ring a bell as the home of Dracula, so it is already a place steeped in dark folklore. This forest is the scene of a lot of strange and unexplained happenings, including the fact that the trees grow in unnatural ways and bend and twist at bizarre angles. There is no explanation for why the trees grow this way and it just adds to the creep factor of the forest. People who have gone into the forest claim that they lose hours which they cannot account for as well as get unexplained rashes and burns on their skin. The locals in the area will not go into the forest at all, and who can blame them because along with what we already mentioned it's said that voices come of the forest at night.

6 Gates to Hell

The Door To Hell apparently exists in Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan is full of natural resources, including a lot of natural gas, which is what is fueling the continuously burning fire at the so called gates of hell. A gas fire was started in a natural gas field there in 1971 by geologists to stop the spread of methane gas. The gas field then collapsed into an underground cavern creating a crater. It's still burning today without any sign of stopping. It is known as the Darvaza gas crater. At this point it is about the size of a football field. For some reason, the area is popular with people who like to go desert camping and want to have the chance of running into Satan. Another interesting fact about this crater is that there are actually living microorganisms in the heart of its fire.

5 Japan's suicide forest

The Aokigahara forest in Japan is notorious because of the high number of suicides that occur there. There was even a horror movie made about it! There are signs all over the forest at this point imploring individuals who have come there to take their lives not too and to reach out for help. It is estimated that around 100 people kill themselves within the forest. The forest is creepy enough considering how many people have chosen to kill themselves there, but the physical aspect of the forest is scary too. The trees twist and turn and are so close together that there is almost a complete absence of sound. Not a forest to take a hike in. Is it the forest making people do these things?

4 The curious & creepy case of Elisa Lam

Elisa Lam was a student from British Columbia Canada who was reported missing by her parents back in 2013. She went to Los Angeles for a couple of days by herself, and when she stopped calling her parents, they called the cops. Her body was found in the water tank of the Cecil Hotel in downtown L.A. a month after she had gone missing. Guests at this hotel had been complaining about the water during that month. The unusual part is the video footage that was released of Elisa in the hotel before her death. She is seen getting on an elevator and seemingly talking to someone outside of it. She gets on and off, even appears to cower in the corner. Some people suspect paranormal activity, some murder, and some suicide. It can't be suicide though because the water tank was sealed from the outside and the ladder wasn't up against, which it would had to have been if she climbed in. But whatever happened, it's sad and more than a little unsettling.

3 Cryptic notes found on body

Ricky McCormick's dead body was found in a field in Missouri in 1999. He was last seen alive 5 days before his body was found, but his body had much longer signs of decomposition. The field he was found was out in the middle of nowhere with no public transportation close by, so how he got there is the second mystery. The other unusual part of this murder was that two notes where found in his pocket written in some kind of weird cypher. McCormick was a high school drop out that was barely literate, so this was unexpected. The FBI did not reveal they had found the letters until 2011 when they released the information to the public hoping someone would be able to crack the cypher that the notes were written in. To this day no one has been able to crack it.

2 Clinton Road

Clinton road is purported to be the most haunted road in America. Not only does Clinton Road have ghosts though, it also apparently has a lot of alien activity as well as cryptids. A lot of people report 'phantom' vehicles specifically one big black truck. There is a ghost boy that many have claimed to have seen at one of the bridges over Clinton Brook. People have claimed to see weird animal hybrids and bizarre cryptid creatures that include hell hounds. Whether you believe in the paranormal or not, you have to admit its strange the one 10 mile stretch of road has garnered so many strange reports over decades from so many different people. What is going on at Clinton Road and why do people still drive on it?

1  The Winchester Mystery House

The Winchester Mystery house is located in San Jose, California. Sarah Winchester was the wife and widow of William Winchester. She lost her infant daughter and then her husband to illness and by all accounts grief drove her sort of insane. A medium told her after their deaths that she has to move west and build a house without ever stopping the construction on it, in order to protect herself from the spirits of the people killed by her husbands rifles. She moved to San Jose and did just that, the house is extremely bizarre in that it has doors that open to walls, staircases leading to nothing, and at one point was 7 stories tall. It's said that the house is still haunted, you can take a tour just for the unusual architecture but most people are hoping to experience some paranormal activity.
