15 CelesteBarber
The world is filled with beautiful pictures of celebrities that make very little sense. From Kylie Jenner's impossible back arches to Justin Bieber seductively holding a knife (?!), it seems that the most popular photos are always slightly weird. Enter Celeste Barber. Celeste is an Australian comedian who uses her Instagram account to hilariously recreate celebrity Instagram photos. No celebrity is safe from her parodies and you can find pictures of Celeste mimicking, Kim Kardashian, Stella Maxwell, Nicki Minaj, Kylie Jenner, Justin Bieber, Victoria Beckham, and Beyonce. Celeste's pictures rarely look like the original pictures and that is exactly why they are so brilliant. Celeste pokes fun at the photographs by highlighting how ridiculous the poses, facial expressions, outfits, and props are. It seems like the world loves her reality check pictures. Her Instagram account now has over one million followers. If you like to laugh at celebrity culture, this is the perfect account for you!
14 QuarterLifePoetry
Being in your 20s can be stressful (and that's totally an understatement!). You're leaving your school days behind and starting your career while learning more about yourself. You will go through difficult relationships and jobs and will probably face some money struggles as well. This may seem like a depressing AF subject (because, well, it can be), but QuarterLifePoetry somehow manages to make it funny! A 25-year-old artist named Samantha Jayne runs this Instagram account and it looks at the highs, lows and frustrations that most people in their 20s face. She talks about cheap wine, bad dates, hairy legs and insurance bills in a relatable manner, accurately describing what life as a 20 something is really like. For instance, one image is illustrated with a bagel, and the caption reads: “This corporate job crushes my soul with the weight of hopeless doom. I'll quit someday, 'til then I'll raid free bagels in the conference room.”
13 LiveFromSnacktime
Kids come out with some brilliant one liners. Sometimes they say something wise and insightful, sometimes they say something creepy - either way, it is always hilarious! If you love laughing at the funny things children say, you should follow LiveFromSnackTime. This Instagram account is a funny collection of original memes created by an anonymous teacher, and the pictures are made up of random quotes that her students came out with. Other teachers and parents can also submit funny things that their children said. The teacher spoke to Babble about the account, saying: “It all started about a year ago.” She was finishing up a lesson on symmetry when one child raised his hand and said, “My butt has a line of symmetry!” This account is ideal for anyone who likes to have a giggle; it is cute, it is funny, and some of the quotes are actually surprisingly thought-provoking.
12 GirlWithNoJob
GirlWithNoJob is an Instagram account that makes fun of millennial life from dating disasters to clean eating and meal prep. The account is super relatable and funny, and since there are regular posts, that means it's the perfect account to check on your daily work commute. The account was started by Claudia Oshry, who said: “My freshman year at NYU, I got an internship in PR, which I now realize was a huge mistake seeing as how I have zero interest in PR. I started a blog on Tumblr called Girl With A Job, where I basically documented my internship and talked sh*t about my co-workers. I eventually was 'let go' and changed the name of my blog to Girl With No Job.” From funny pictures that describe single life to memes about work, this account provides a painfully accurate representation of a quarter life crisis - which we're sure many twentysomethings will be able to relate to!
11 OMGLiterallyDead
OMGLiterallyDead stars a skeleton called Skellie. This might sound like a Halloween prank, but Skellie is totally serious… about fashion, lattes, selfies, and posting on Instagram. The skeleton is like the one you may have seen in your biology classroom, but Skellie probably wouldn't be caught dead (heh) in school. Instead, most pictures feature her visiting fun, Instagramable locations such as the park, the coffee shop, and the bar. There are lots of clichéd pictures of hands holding a coffee, avocado and toast, and pictures of knees in the bath - the only difference is that the pictures feature a skeleton instead of a person. Dana Herlihey is the woman behind the hilarious account. She told Cosmopolitan: “Skellie was a happy accident. A plastic skeleton arrived at work one day as a Halloween decoration. One day I decided to take a photo of her holding a Starbucks cup. The next day, I set her up wearing my cardigan, glasses, and tuque. On a whim, I decided to create an account entirely dedicated to the skeleton. It all kind of took off from there.”
10 YoyoHa
Most people like coffee. In fact, most people drink coffee every day. Drinking coffee is one of life's most amazing and beautiful little routines, and now artist Josh Hara has started turning coffee cups into works of art to share on Instagram. Josh (who yes, is a big coffee lover!) draws beautiful and creative comic strips on his coffee cups once he has finished his drink. The comic strips come with lots of funny jokes and puns, and sometimes they include thought provoking messages. They also include light-hearted messages, such as a coffee cup that celebrates the arrival of pumpkin latte season. As Josh told Mashable.com, “I think that if I was just sharing cartoons on a flat piece of paper, people wouldn't be enjoying them as much as they have been. I think there is some extra interest in taking something we see every day, something that often gets thrown into the trash, and transforming it into a piece of artwork.”
9 TextsFromYourExistentialist
If you love memes, TextsForYourExistentialist is the ideal Instagram account for you to start following. The Instagram was created by Los Angeles based artist April Eileen Henry, and the account posts artistic messages of dread, angst, and hilarity. The images combine old photos (anything from classical Da Vinci art to old school Hollywood photographs) with clever text captions that are often accurate and relatable. The pictures mostly feature bored looking young women, and their faces combined with the texts makes for some seriously funny pictures. Henry aims “to bring more messages that speak to the pity party line and the seldom spoken sadnesses of life, rather than the alienating positive messages that pervade the internet today.” The pictures are sad, funny, and occasionally pretentious. They will remind you of your annoying co-workers and irritating exes, but they will also make you think about your friends and how wonderful they are.
8 2TrashyB*+ches
If you like drinking cheap wine, eating unhealthy food, online shopping, Tinder, and Starbucks (so, yes, this is for you!), then you should follow 2TrashyBitches. 2TrashyBitches has over 300K followers (and counting), and it perfectly summarizes the highs and lows of being a girl in her twenties. From pictures about hangovers to memes about makeup, this account posts lots of NSFW pictures that most girls in their twenties will be able to relate to. It is also part of the #FABSQUAD, which includes other hilarious Instagram accounts such as @goodgirlwithbadthoughts, @queens_over_bitches, @girlsthinkimfunny, @mum_probs, @thehandyj, @sobasicicanteven, @scouse_ma and @northwitch69. The tagline for the account is “Shutting the f*ck up is gluten free, add that to ur diet”, which is a pretty decent indicator of the content that you can expect. It may be crass and crude, but it will definitely make you giggle… and you will totally end up tagging your friends in hundreds of pictures.
7 OfficialSeanPenn
There are lots of Instagram accounts that claim to be funny and original, but most of them just share the same memes over and over again… or constantly repost content from other accounts. If you're tired of Instagram accounts that post unoriginal content, you should check out OfficialSeanPenn. This account is genuinely unique and original. Most of the content that they post was created by the owner. The pictures all follow the same theme, featuring sparkles, hearts, and rainbows. However, as you scroll through the pictures you will quickly realize that there is a serious, dark edge to the account. The account was created by Caroline Goldfarb, a woman who is outspoken and often blunt. When discussing the Instagram account with The Huffington Post she said: “This specific point of view is purely me; a horned up millennial with a penchant for celebrity news, the world of the Internet, and illegal substances.” She went on to say that the account is “like if Us Weekly and Lisa Frank got together and had a baby.” We can't argue with that!
6 BaddieWinkle
If you haven't heard of Baddie Winkle you're missing out. Helen Ruth Elam Van Winkle was born on July 18th, 1928 in Kentucky, and now she is best known as one of the oldest American internet personalities. She first became famous at the tender age of 85, and the tagline for her Instagram (“Stealing Your Man Since 1928") has now become a popular phrase with teenagers across the globe. She first started the account with the help of her great granddaughter Kennedy Lewis, and the account soared to fame after Rihanna followed her. The account mostly features pictures of Baddie Winkle wearing eccentric clothes (such as leather knee high boots and sparkly bikinis), and most of her pictures feature hilarious, innuendo-filled captions. Her account now has millions of followers. Baddie currently lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, and since creating the account she has appeared on The Today Show and given interviews to various media outlets.
5 MiserableMen
You see them every time you visit a clothes store or a shoe shop. The malls are filled with them. They occupy every changing room and bench as they wait for their wives and girlfriends to finish shopping. They are the miserable men… and now there is an Instagram account dedicated to them. MiserableMen is an account that is entirely focused on men who look sad in shopping centers, and some of the pictures are truly hilarious. You will see men of all ages despairing of their situation, and anyone can submit their own picture. The feed has over 200K followers, which is no surprise; some of the pictures are laugh out loud funny, especially the ones that feature sleeping men or men who have given up and simply decided to sit on the floor. Everyone should follow this account, especially women who are guilty of forcing their boyfriends to go on unwanted shopping trips!
4 SadTopographies
We've all heard of rude street names that sound like insulting and crude innuendos, but the funniest street names are actually the most depressing ones. SadTopographies is dedicated to the most morbid and sad street names in the world, and there are some real gems. If you haven't taken the time to search through Google Maps you may not realize how many depressing location names there are - but there are literally thousands! Some of the funniest locations include “Depression Pond”, “Agony Island”, “Disappointment Island” and “Why Me Lord Lane”. We know what you are thinking, and yes - these are all real places that actually exist. So if you're ever feeling down and you'd like to visit a place that fits your mood, make sure to follow Sad Topographies for travel inspiration. Ahem. While this may sound like a pretty depressing account, all of the pictures will make you giggle… and some will definitely make you laugh out loud. (Seriously, who named these locations?!)
3 MyDayWithLeo
MyDayWithLeo started off by following the bizarre and hilarious adventures of artist Joel Strong, although it looks like an account that follows the life of Leonardo DiCaprio. Joel travels around New York and takes pictures of people who have their faces covered with a cut-out of DiCaprio's face. The account quickly became popular, and then it started covering stars from 90s teen magazines. Now the account is hugely successful, and you can find pictures of lots of different celebrities. For example, you can see Bernie Sanders doing tai chi, or Chewbacca jumping into bed with Han Solo. Our personal favorite is the picture of a smiling Barack Obama finishing a fun run. The idea is simple yet genius and some of the pictures are seriously hilarious. Now Strong has even taken to taking pictures of celebrity cutouts covering the faces of ladies that he takes out on Tinder dates.
2 FlyArtProductions
Everyone loves a meme, especially if it combines the past with the present. Some of the most popular memes from the last few years feature a combination of classical paintings with funny, modern captions, and FlyArtProductions takes the combination to a new level. The account combines classic art with modern lyrics, and the result is fantastic. For instance, one of the most popular pictures features Botticelli's 'The Birth Of Venus' with the lyrics “I woke up like this." Another features Queen Elizabeth with the caption “Bad and boujee” (we like to imagine that she was pretty bad and boujee for her time). We also love all of the pictures that feature not suitable for work rap lyrics. The combination is weirdly aesthetic - all of the pictures would probably look awesome if they were framed in a house. We aren't the only ones who think this, as Fly Art are now selling T-shirts and other merchandise that feature their designs.
1 SarahAndersenComics
If you want to follow an account that posts cute comics, check out SarahAndersonComics., an IG account created by illustrator Sarah Andersen. The account features simple black and white cartoon strips that document Sarah's life, and the characters definitely feel familiar. The pictures are light-hearted and funny, but there is a dark edge that makes the pictures so relatable. She posts pictures that detail obsession with social media, failed relationships, career problems, and dieting, and the protagonist for the comics is a startled looking woman with black hair and big eyes. The protagonist deals with social anxiety, laziness, and body image issues, and most women in their twenties will be able to relate to her daily struggles. Sarah deliberately didn't name the character as she wanted the character to be relatable to women everywhere. She says that she takes inspiration from her own life and people on the internet for the comic. So there you go -- 15 awesome IG accounts that you need to start following ASAP!
