15 Sub-Stealing Pug
I have a pet pug, so I know that this breed loves to eat. My little guy would eat all day, every day, if we only let him. Not only does he like his own (gourmet) dog food, he will happily chow down on any human treats that we allow him. His favorites include carrots, apples, cheese and grapes. Although we are OK with giving him "healthy" human foods in moderation, I can't say we haven't caved and let him enjoy some not-so-dog-friendly snacks as well. Chicken wings, chips, pizza and ice cream are all among the delicacies that have grazed his pug lips. The above dog-shaming photo, depicting a pug who ran off with a 6 inch sub, is not shocking to me. Give a pug an opportunity to get his paws on food, and he will take it. These little guys can't help it- they are just born to snack. Adorable.
14 The Stuffed Animal Eater
How cute is this little troublemaker? In a very creative approach to dog-shaming, this pup's owners made him wear the evidence of his bad behaviour. Like most dogs, this little guy likes to chew on stuffed toys. Defacing a cute elephant toy got him into hot water with his owners, who took photographic evidence of his destructive act. Poor little cutie pie! How can we resist that little face? More than likely, this stuffed toy belongs to the pup's human sibling, making it a non-authorized toy. But honestly, can we blame dogs for getting confused about which stuffed toys are theirs, and which are off limits? In a doggie's mind, all stuffed toys are fair game. If you have a mischievous dog (like mine) they do know the difference between "mine and yours" but enjoy pushing the limits.
13 The Duvet Destroyer
Oh, this poor dog. He must've gotten in so much doggie trouble once his owners discovered that he chewed up and destroyed their feather duvet. His face says it all. This guy totally threw all self-control to the wind when he decided to start chewing up the expensive bedding. Sadly, our furry friends don't know the difference between cheap chewables and designer décor. Once you bring a pet into your home, all of your beloved possessions become fair game. You must be prepared to sacrifice your fanciest and most prized objects, in exchange for unwavering loyalty and doggie snuggles. I think it's a super worthwhile trade off. It might also be a good idea to hide away anything you truly don't want damaged; at least until you are totally familiar with your dogs habits.
12 The Paralyzed Pug
I think that most of you would agree that pugs are the best breed to shame. Something about their little scrunchy faces and big 'ol weepy eyes makes them look so guilty! Not to mention, pugs are just naturally so dramatic and emotional. They little guys get super attached to their owners and demand a whole lot of attention. Being ignored or left alone for too long can push these dogs into depressive states! It's not surprising, then, that the pug in question throws himself down in a dramatically staged paralysis when he wants to boycott being left behind. Don't leave me master, I need you because I am suddenly paralyzed! It's just such a cute and desperate move, I can barely find it shameful. Love this little guy- I hope he wasn't without his owner for too long!
11 The Dog With Bad Judgement
We all know someone who has a dog that seems to eat anything and everything. Food, shoes, clothing items… there are very few "off limits" items. Owners of these dogs are often discouraged with training and don't know how to stop their dog from chewing up their entire home. Sadly, these kinds of dogs might also go after things you would never expect to be tempting, like personal hygiene items in your bathrooms garbage can. Dirty Q-Tips?! Eek! That sounds like the most vile and horrific thing in the world. This poor shamed pooch seems to have a bit of a weakness for ear wax on cotton swabs. He doesn't even seem to mind that he's being shamed… this dog totally owns up to his disgusting habit. Let's just hope that he calls it quits at Q-Tips and doesn't indulge in other garbage can delicacies!
10 The Terrible Two
Enter the badly behaved canine tag team. Two is stronger than one, and when you're talking trouble, double dogs kick it up to a whole new level. Nothing says "I'm adorable and harmless, even if I display behaviour that is meant to be menacing" like two 15-pound pups with angel faces. These guys clearly feed off of each others' energy; one is the king of nervous barking, and the other lets strangers get close, feigning cuteness, before he attacks with his savage fangs. These two are just so adorable and look so innocent (I'm sure the little cream coloured guy doesn't have a serious bite!) Many doggie duos have an air of over-confidence, and to be honest, it's really, really cute. These two pups being called out by their owners for their bad behaviour is just adorable. We know your tricks, little guys!
9 The "I'll Have Seconds" Pup
My dog, Milo, is definitely guilty of trying to trick us into feeding him his meals twice. His technique? Waking me up super early for a "first scoop" (I'm talking about 5 in the morning early) and then waking my husband up later in the morning for a second and possible third scoop. After this went on for a little while, we caught on to the fact that he was using trickery and manipulation to get extra nibbles. A few pounds of extra weight later, we are now more diligent about what time he is fed, and how much he gets. Good to know that Milo is not the only little guy out there trying to pull the wool over his parents' eyes! This little white, fuzzy cutie is also a culprit. He looks pretty shamed of his behaviour; a true guilty dog indeed!
8 The Gross Habits Guy
Doggie bad habits run the risk of being high on the gross spectrum. Unfortunately, our canine companions don't have the luxury of learning table manners, like we do. Enter this sloppy and adorable guy. He has face folds that food bits get lost in. He probably inhales his food, like most flat-faced breeds, causing even more face gunk buildup. Getting parts of your meal stuck in your face can't be a pleasant feeling, so this guy has to find relief… and fast! Rubbing your face on a carpet seems as good a solution as any, if you're a bulldog. If you've ever seen a dog frantically trying to clean his face folds (I have), you must admit that it is one of the cutest things ever. Dog-shame away: this little guy is just too sweet for words. His gross habits are heartwarming to the avid dog-lover.
7 The "Dogs Gone Wild"
This duo certainly took misbehaving to a whole new level! They didn't want to get into a little trouble, they wanted to break all the rules and throw responsibility to the wind! These IDGAF pups decided to have a little pool party, in an unauthorized pool belonging to their grumpy neighbour. Police were called to the scene- what a bunch of rebels, for real! The good news is that these dogs have non-grumpy owners that seem to have a pretty good sense of humour. Instead of getting into trouble, they were subjected to some good old-fashioned dog-shaming. Harmless and fitting for the crime committed! As for grumpy neighbour, we think she (or he? I am picturing a grumpy grandma who hates dogs) needs to chill out a little and learn to giggle when something as awesome as a dog pool party comes to her yard.
6 The Dog Who Hates Cats
This is pretty funny. Historically, dogs and cats haven't made the best of friends, but there are certainly exceptions to that rule. Lots of households maintain friendly relations between their feline and canine companions. This guy, however, isn't having any of the "cats are OK" thing. He is as anti-cat as they come. He certainly doesn't want them anywhere near his property. So, when he saw a cat crossing the road peacefully, little mister trouble decided it was his duty to take care of business. In an attempt to catch the cat, he pounced on the living room window, subsequently damaging his owners' blinds. Good intentions? Poor little shamed pooch; his owners were not too impressed with his antics.
5 The Dog Who Fails At Guarding
My pug, Milo, would certainly never be able to defend us in the event of a break-in. The world's most goofy pug, he literally doesn't even know how to close his jaws together tight enough to bite. The only time he showed any type of protective behaviour was when my newborn sn came home from the hospital. This dog-shamer has a similar type of harmless dog, it seems. Her truck was broken into while the dog was hanging out in the passenger's seat, and he let the thieves get away with an iPad… without reacting. In all fairness, I think it's better to have a kind and compassionate dog than one that is aggressive and protective. iPads are replaceable. It's unfortunate to experience a robbery, but having a sweet and kind puppy is one of the best things in life. This gentle giant gets my stamp of approval for being a peaceful pup!
4 The Destructor
I know that it's common for dogs to chew on things, but this pup takes it up quite a few notches! This guy doesn't want to chew- he wants to destroy! He's smart, too. He wisely locks himself in the bathroom, to maximize his diaper munching time. When that snacking fix has been satiated, he moves on to his next project. Eating the door. A guy's got to get out of a locked room somehow, am I right? Can you imagine the look on the owners' faces when they discovered what their canine got himself into? This little episode probably cost a pretty penny to fix, but it's so funny and cute that the cost seems worthwhile. Let's hope this was a one-time occurrence and not something that pup does regularly;otherwise the owners will have to consider removing all of their doors! This German Shephard is super serious about chomping. Dog-shaming achievement: unlocked.
3 The Cute Manipulator
How can anyone resist this adorable little face?! Using cuteness to get what you want is an old trick, effectively used by humans and dogs alike. When you know that you're adorable as anything, you can manipulate situations quite easily. Getting your way has never been easier! Perfecting the "I'm so sad, help me please" look can go a long way. In this gorgeous dog's case, he wants help retrieving the cookies out of his Kong toy. Why work for the treat if you can just put on the puppy eyes and get it without delay? Breeds with already droopy eyes are even more likely to be successful with this kind of manipulation. It's just so hard to say no to sad puppy eyes! Well played big guy, well played. Perhaps his dog-shaming owners should consider getting him alternative chew toys that don't involve so much retrieving work. This guy can't handle delayed gratification!
2 The Dogs Who Took A Classic Novel Too Literally
These literary lovers took Harper Lee's 1960 classic novel To Kill A Mockingbird a little too seriously. While we appreciate that these two have spent most of their free time reading, they didn't have to murder a poor mockingbird. The title is just a metaphor, guys! Well, they are pretty adorable, and after their owners' dog-shamed them, I think they have learned their lesson. By the guilty looks on their faces, it's safe to assume that they were first time offenders. These guys just don't have serial killer vibes. I'm sure that they regretted their actions as soon as they realized that the bird was lifeless. There are dogs out there that kill innocent animals for fun, without remorse. These two pups clearly don't fall into that category. They are far too cute and innocent looking to be dangerous offenders. Plus, they are readers.
1 The Self-Inflicted Pain Guy
Oh, this brings back memories! Our childhood dog, Wrinkles, once had a serious run-in with beehive. She was rummaging around in our bushes, and either took a bite out of the beehive or angered the bees some other way. The result? Half a dozen bee stings to the snout. We had to bring her to the vet for emergency medication to reduce the swelling. As kids, this was quite a dramatic incident. I remember clearly how the panic seized my sister and I. So, I have to give bravery points to this shamed-doggie who eats bees by choice! How does he do it? Clearly he doesn't get off without being stung if his face is swollen. Perhaps it only happened once, or, he goes back for more because he likes the pain. You never know, right? We hope that he learns not to do this again, though, he's far too cute to be stung!
