15 Of The Worst Fictional Boyfriends On TV

There is a swarm of handsome and charming characters populating the world of television, and it's easy to fall in love with some of the heroes and villains of these shows, especially when they're so hot. But are these TV boyfriends really worthy of their cult followings? Unfortunately, a lot of them are not, and while the majority of them end up winning the heart of the girl, the cold hard reality is that they're horrible people. From manipulating others to being disrespectful and even cheating, most of these guys would be pretty bad boyfriends in real life. You might not realize how bad they are yet. It's definitely for the best that you stop swooning over them immediately.

If you meet men with any of the traits of these jerks, it's a major red flag. Here are 15 of the worst fictional boyfriends on television. Is your crush on the list?

15 Larry Bloom, 'Orange Is The New Black'

It might not come as a surprise for fans of the show that Larry is one of the most hated characters ever. The hatred for this single character burns stronger than the love for many of the others and it's pretty shocking how overwhelmingly awful he was. If you want to defend him, sure, you could argue that Piper was as equally horrendous to him, but the acrimony towards Larry is much more severe. He epitomizes all jerks, so if you have a real fool stashed away in your history, Larry will definitely get under your skin. The dirty liar promised Piper he wouldn't watch Mad Men without her… and then we saw him watching the show all by his lonesome. He even hides a picture of Piper while he watches to escape his guilt. We don't even have to mention that he's a cheater or a coward. Even without those two fatal crimes, he still manages to be the worst boyfriend ever.

14 Ezra Fitz, 'Pretty Little Liars'

This is a lesson that a lot of girls still in high school might not fully understand yet. It doesn't matter how hot, mature, or caring a man is: older men that prey on younger girls that are in high school are super creepy. There is a reason they can't get women their own age. While Ezra is definitely worshiped on the show, there is really no reason to swoon over him even one little bit. His entire relationship with Aria was a lie, and oh yeah, he had been stalking the girls since the beginning of the show so he could write a true crime novel based on Alison… who he had a brief fling with. This was pretty heartbreaking for us and it destroyed Aria. Ezra is creepy on way too many levels, and it's impossible to forgive him for his disturbing actions. It's distasteful that he preyed on a younger girl and it's sinister how he shadowed Aria and her friends. Definitely a bad boyfriend.

    13 Liam Court, '90210'

If you're looking for someone that is horrible at communication for literally years on end, here's your man. Liam deserves a bit of slack because he endured a troubled childhood that shaped him into the complicated soul he is, but that isn't an excuse for just being generally rude to women that have feelings for him. He isn't the type to make things easy, and if you want a mature relationship, then this quality would make him a terrible boyfriend in real life. He flips back and forth between a lot of women, and even sleeps with one of his girlfriend's sisters at one point. That's a bit of a nightmare. While he does have some decent qualities that could mold him into a good man, it would be easy for a woman to care too much about this man that might not treat her how she deserves. He is bound to be an awful boyfriend.

12 Shane Walsh, 'The Walking Dead'

Just thinking about the things that this guy did make us shudder. Sure, he wasn't really Lori's boyfriend, but he was basically her self-proclaimed lover after he lied about her husband being dead. When you lie about the death of your best friend to get into his wife's pants, then yeah, you're a terrible person. Sure, he might have had a good reason to assume that Rick was long gone, but that doesn't mean it's okay to worm your way into someone's breaking heart. Even after Rick returns, Shane still tries to put his hands all over Lori, and he even wants to kill his best friend for her! Do you see any qualities in Shane that make him even remotely tolerable? Obviously, severe stress mutated the core of who he was, but he couldn't shake the general impression that he was a jerk. Sorry Shane, but you would be a nasty boyfriend.

    11 Walter White, 'Breaking Bad'

When your man becomes on of the biggest drug lords in town, you want to know. He manages to make his sweet wife one of the most disliked characters on the show… when he's the one that's the absent father. He missed the birth of his child because he was too busy finishing a deal with his infamous blue crystals. If we peel away the layers and think about the mess that changed his life, we would find an awkward and unappealing man that lacks any trace of charisma. No matter how you look at Walter, he's really not the kind of boyfriend you want in your life. He might be willing to provide for you no matter what the cost could be, but you might want to reconsider if that's truly a sensible quality knowing how this love story pans out. Since he has no style and questionable judgment, you might want to pass on a relationship with Walter.

    10 Finn Collins, 'The 100'

An initially attractive and immensely charming character, Finn seems to have the leadership qualities and luster that makes women swoon. He's intelligent and brave and stands for his moral compass. So how did he end up on this list? When he gets sent down to earth, fireworks ignite between him and Clark, and they predictably fall in love and sleep together. This sounds like a dream come true! Until his other girlfriend joins the two new lovers on earth, unknowingly crashing Finn's party. Oh, you never thought you were going to see Raven again? Shut up, Finn. That's totally rude. Now that he's made a complete mess and broken both the girls' hearts, he decides that he loves Clark more, but when chaos ensues and him and Clark are separated, he starts murdering literally everybody. That's not how you deal with things, Finn. He could be the opposite of boyfriend material.

    9 Ross Geller, 'Friends'

While he and Rachel might be one of the most beloved couples in all television history, there were some flaws in their relationships that we all honestly overlook. Basically, he doesn't deserve Rachel. Does anyone remember when he recounted all of Rachel's faults to prove why he couldn't be with her? He literally turned them into a list. Then he tells her what to do with her body, stating that she shouldn't get a tattoo. After that, he fumes with jealousy because she's trying to pursue her career instead of giving him her full attention. Oh wait, there's more! One day into a break in their relationship, he sleeps with another girl. He lies to her about reading her heartfelt letter. And he videotapes them doing the deed without telling her for months. Disrespectful, ignorant, and crude, he might be the worst of them all. The list of all horrible ways he treated Rachel goes on. Ugh.

8 Damon Salvatore, 'The Vampire Diaries'

Honestly, both brothers from the show deserve to be on here. Stefan narrowly escapes, however, only because he earnestly treated Elena with respect and kindness. While it's difficult not to love Damon and thus be on his team, the writing is on the wall when it comes to this harrowed vampire. He would be a terrible boyfriend. Sure, he loves unconditionally and would die for whoever has stolen his heart, but he never really cared about what Elena was saying. He always put her first, but that would often mean completely disregarding her wishes. Whenever they would have a fight or a break, he would go on a killing spree. He even failed to mention he went on a trip one summer while they were dating to kill someone because they really rubbed him the wrong way. He keeps too many secrets and is too unpredictable to ever be able to be comfortable with him, despite his charm and damaged heart.

7 Ben Boykewich, 'The Secret Life Of The American Teenager'

He was one of the sweetest, most innocent characters on the show, but it all unraveled pretty fast. First of all, he needs to calm down with the serial proposals. He proposes to basically every girl that looks his way, which is essentially two, but that still isn't a quality that's acceptable in a man. It isn't long before we see an intense jealousy emerge from the boy, which eventually ruined his relationship with Amy, which he could literally never get over. Plus he copes with heartbreak by having a revenge relationship which leads to knocking up a girl he didn't even like! Ben is a mess you don't want to deal with, and his spoiled brat privilege is not the icing on the cake. He took the wrong turn in life and could never really get back on the right path, and there's too much to handle to make him a good boyfriend. The sausage boy isn't for you.

    6 Jess Mariano, 'Gilmore Girls'

Out of all of Rory's boyfriends, Jess might be the worst. He was disrespectful right off the bat, hitting on Rory despite the fact that she was dating Dean. He fought to win her by belittling Dean without mercy or remorse. He thought that changing who Rory liked was easy as long as he just shows up and insults the other guy. Sorry, Jess, but women are a lot smarter than that. It gets way worse than that, as he crashes Rory's car, and instead of checking to make sure she's safe or offering to pay for the damages, he vanishes like any toxic male does. He was super negative and angry and Rory didn't deserve to deal with that, and he had no appreciation for women as he was too caught up in his own vanity. Worst of all? He tried to force her to sleep with him when she had already said no. Uncool and awful.

5 Angel, 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'

While it's true that most of the world was in love with Angel while this show was on the air, and still might be today, it's safe to say that vampires are just not good boyfriend material. Sure, he's cursed with remorse and a human soul, but is that enough? No, not really, because while he is full of nobility which is a remarkable trait in your partner, he's also constantly breaking Buffy's heart. Instead of trying to work things out he tries to sell the story that they just aren't meant to be, but nobody was buying it and it just became frustrating as he played with our emotions. Dammit, Angel, stop making things so difficult, girls don't want drama. Boyfriends that think your emotions are a game are the literal worst. He might be a lackluster boyfriend, to say the least, which is why so many people are on team Spike instead.

    4 Pete Campbell, 'Mad Men'

While pretty much all the male characters on this show were horrendous, because it's set in the 1960s after all, he was pretty slimy. The night before his wedding to a wonderful and brilliant woman, he cheats on his fiance with the new receptionist and then continues to have an affair even during the relationship. He lies to Trudy, and the affairs and cheating scandals mount up as the years go by. Not only that, he's a brat that doesn't know how to work for want he wants because he demands it right now. Peter even disregards how his wife is feeling about having a baby, insinuating he doesn't care about her emotions. Does he care about any woman's emotions, though? Not really, because he continuously berates them with sexist and nasty comments that ruthlessly belittle them. There is no excuse for what a horrible boyfriend he would be; not even his era justifies it.

    3 Mr. Big, 'S.A.T.C'

All you have to do is witness how he brings out the absolute worst in Carrie to know he'd be the worst boyfriend imaginable. You don't want your boyfriend to be a bad influence on you, and when your partner is a reflection of yourself, the last thing you want to see is any part of Mr. Big. After all, once a cheater always a cheater, so why is Carrie comfortable being with him? You should never date someone like this, that's for sure. Not only that, but he has one of the worst possible traits that a potential boyfriend could possess: he's terrified of commitment. Why give your heart to somebody if they can't return the gesture? It's a total waste of energy and you're guaranteed to get your heart broken a million times. This is the kind of man that would stand you up on your wedding day, so he's probably the last person on earth that you would want to date.

    2 Don Draper, 'Mad Men'

It's irrelevant how handsome, how successful, or how much baggage this man has. He is guaranteed to make you miserable. If you watched the show, you probably lost track of how many times he cheated on Betty. Then he lied about it… and did it again. It was one girl after another, to the point that it was actually painful to watch and made you want to hate him. You should! He treats women like they're objects and never displays any respect. Even when he's given another chance with his stunning second wife Megan, he screws it up and cheats. Deep down, Don is a complicated man filled with self-deprivation, but that doesn't mean you should make him your project in the hopes you can live happily ever after. He would never be a good boyfriend, even if he does write his ex wives cheques for one million dollars. The money doesn't fix the damage.

    1 Dan Humphrey, 'Gossip Girl'

Who doesn't want a boyfriend that torments them and embarrasses them online? After stalking Serena throughout high school and finally getting a chance with her, he still continues his mantra of Gossip Girl harassment, and even gives himself the nickname Lonely Boy. Um, creepy much?! His self-righteous nature and inability to try and understand Serena's wealthy world would not make him a good partner, not to mention the cyber bullying he commits against all his loved ones. How could you ever trust someone that's done all this? Well, Serena marries him, which makes a lot of people want to scream at her that she could do way better. Everything he did was simply unforgivable, and the way he began to assume the worst in everybody is way too negative to handle. Dan should have stayed lonely after everything he did because there's simply no way to justify his actions. He's definitely a man everyone would need to stay away from if he were real.
