15 Predictions For Nashville's Fifth Season
Nashville fans, it's officially the best month ever because this glorious musical drama is now back on television. When news broke that the series was being canceled, we were super sad. It seemed like the worst news in the world. Thankfully, CMT soon picked up the show and season five is now airing. We love getting the chance to see what's going on with our favorite characters from Rayna and Deacon to Gunnar and Scarlett, and of course, we're always interested in the awesome music on this show. Plus there's no comparison: Juliette Barnes is just the best character ever and makes this show worth watching. So now it's time for a very important discussion: what's going to happen in these next few episodes. Call us brilliant or psychics (we'll take both compliments) but we think we can figure out what's going to happen.
Here are 15 predictions for Nashville's fifth season.
15 Javery Will Reunite
All fans totally agree with us, right? Juliette and Avery have been apart for way too long. They honestly should not have been apart for even a single second. There have been so many times when they almost got back together but Avery thought it was not the best thing for him and for their baby girl. It is honestly getting more and more heartbreaking to watch the former lovebirds deal with each other and talk around how much they obviously still care about each other. There have been so many ridiculous obstacles trying to keep them apart, from Juliette thinking that Avery and her assistant/nanny were dating to Juliette's party girl ways, and we are thinking that it is time that they just admit that the need to give their love story a second go. No one will gain anything from the two of them staying apart, that is for sure.
14 Gunnar And Scarlett Will Break Up (Again)
Yeah, yeah, we're sad that we're thinking this too. But it's one of our predictions for season five because the thing about these two is that they are truly star-crossed lovers. They have gotten together so many times and broken up so many times at this point, it's kind of making our heads spin. It's actually kind of hard to even remember all that stuff. We just don't think that the writers and producers think that these two can truly make it as a long-term couple. While that pains us, we just have to admit the truth. We also think that they are really interesting when they are working together and creating beautiful music together but are not actually a romantic item. It creates all kinds of great tension and conflict, and let's face it, their chemistry is pretty much always off the charts. The problem is that when long-simmering love stories actually happen, it can often be boring, so we think they will be kept apart in order to keep the plot fresh and interesting.
13 Maddie Will Leave Home
She came pretty close last season, right? Judging from the trailers and commercials that have aired so far for season five, it seems like Maddie is going to date an older guy. Shocking, we know. Since she already feels like she is a million times older than her adorable younger sister Daphne, and since she has been wanting to have a solo music career for a while, it just makes sense that she would seriously leave home this time. Maybe she will move in with this guy so she will technically stay in Nashville, but needless to say, we think that would create a whole lot of drama. And Deacon and Rayna would totally and completely freak out about that. We actually love that kind of stuff so we are hoping that this is one prediction that definitely comes true. Writers and producers, are you listening?! It would make for some really juicy TV!
12 Daphne Will Run Away
So Daphne has pretty much been totally and completely ignored in her household lately… and what do kids do when they've been ignored? They try their best to get attention. One good way to do that is to run away. Of course, it's actually a bad idea, but it's just dramatic enough for this show to do this very thing. We seriously feel for Daphne and we think that she needs a really legit storyline since we only seem to see her on-screen lately when Maddie is totally ignoring her and making her feel terrible. Come on, Nashville. Let's do more for Daphne. She's just the sweetest and most adorable character ever. We're hoping that whether or not she actually runs away, her family is going to feel bad for ignoring her and they're going to start paying more attention to her. This honestly needs to happen so we don't actually cry.
11 New Characters Will Shake Things Up
The cast and crew have teased new characters coming to the show this season, and we're predicting that they're truly going to shake things up. We think they might even break up some long-term couples that we never thought would have trouble in paradise. We also think that the new characters are probably musicians since, well, that's kind of obvious given the type of show that it is. But we think that they are going to give Juliette and Rayna a run for their musical money and they might even make them wonder if they still have a place in Nashville both physically and musically. New characters are always kind of a difficult thing, especially when the show has been on the air for a while now. We want to like them, we really do, but sometimes we long for the good old days when we only had to focus on the people that we loved. The jury is still out on whether we love or hate the new faces in town.
10 Rayna Will Have A Breakdown
Given the first part of the two-part season five premiere, we can honestly say that Rayna seems headed for a serious breakdown. She's scared to fly which is definitely understandable since Juliette was in that crash, but it seems like the seeds have been planted for some serious problems. Plus there's the fact that Rayna is not having an easy time of it (but really, when was her life ever easy?!). She's struggling to make her record label work and it's always been a real thorn in her side when it comes to her success and happiness. She's trying to deal with Maddie who is not being super sweet to Daphne. She's working on her marriage which has never been simple either given Deacon's alcoholism and problems. She's just not in the best place possible and we're not sure that she ever will be… well, at least not this season.
9 Gunnar Will Form A New Band
Gunnar may love singing and performing but we get the feeling that he loves being in a band a lot more than being solo -- or being part of a duet, as with Scarlett. Of course, they're amazing together and they have a special knack for co-writing songs. But we think that this will be the season that Gunnar forms a new band… maybe even with Avery. The two of them have had such a bromance for the majority of the series and we think that we really need to have that back in our life again. It just seems like Gunnar really loves that sense of community and camaraderie and that he's not getting that from being part of a duet with Scarlett. We're thinking that maybe a new character or two will be part of this band, and we seriously hope that this happens because we're just dreaming of the amazing new music that they could create together. One thing's for sure, this series knows how to deliver on the musical front.
8 Deacon Will Open a Music Venue
This whole bar thing isn't working out for Deacon. We don't think that he should be involved with it anymore. Instead, he should open a new music venue. He honestly needs something fun and positive in his life since let's face it, he's been put through the ringer as a character. It's harder to find a more long-suffering character on this show. Just think of all the storyline possibilities if he can do this. He could even get a co-manager like Avery or Gunnar and maybe this could be a project that he and Rayna could work on together. It definitely seems like the characters need some new places to play in town, especially since most of them have had such a rough time of it lately. We think that Juliette could perform on opening night and prove to everyone that yes, she's back and no, she's not crazy. We're really hoping that this happens.
7 Rayna And Juliette Will Team Up
Another prediction that we feel so strongly about? That would be Rayna and Juliette teaming up. They have performed and toured together in the past and they've also done a lot of duets together, but we think that they are going to go one step further. Maybe they will run the record label together (although we're not so sure that dream of Rayna's is going to last -- more on that soon). Maybe they will start a new musical business together. Whatever they do, we just know that it's going to be epic… and it definitely won't be missing any drama. We love seeing Juliette and Rayna drama. Just think how cool this would be since this storyline would essentially bring the show back to its first season basics. Back when the show first started, Juliette and Rayna were total enemies. They were competing for musical dominance in Nashville and it didn't seem like they would ever get along. They've come a long way but we still don't think that this would go off without a hitch… which is just the way that we like it.
6 We Will Lose A Character
Yup, we're going to go there. We think this has a huge possibility of actually happening since let's be honest, nothing is as dramatic as a death. It might be in the season finale (since that's typically when things like this happen) or it might be halfway through the season. You know, just to surprise us and shake things up a bit. We're not going to say who dies but we do think that this might happen. Sure, this might seem insanely dramatic since Juliette just had an accident and we all thought that she was a total goner but thankfully she's totally and completely fine (well, besides some issues, but we're going to keep watching and seeing what happens). We are going to predict that this person will have something to do with either Rayna or Juliette (or both since they do have a lot of people in common).
5 Rayna Will Tour With Her Daughters
Okay, so how totally adorable would this be? We're kind of sad that this hasn't happened yet. We think it's kind of a crime. We love watching Maddie and Daphne perform since they are so cute and so talented and their songs are always awesome. We would love to watch them perform with their super famous mom and we would love if they all traveled the country and toured. Maybe during summer break? We don't think this is such a crazy thing. Sure, Rayna has been trying to stop her kids from going into the music business because she wants to protect them and she thinks they're way too young. You know, she's your typical overprotective mom. But if they all toured together, she would be able to keep an eye on them and it would all be super safe and great. So we think that this has a chance of actually happening.
4 Minor Characters Will Move On
We think that every minor character on the show, from Rayna and Juliette's management to any assistants, are going to move on and leave sometime during the fifth season. They just don't seem to be the serving story or the show anymore and they are definitely not as dramatic as the major characters. Plus they just seem like they have run their course and have been on the show for enough time. We honestly think that these people are going to admit to Juliette and Rayna that they need to start living their own lives and that they really are sick of the whole music scene. It just feels like time. Plus there's the fact that the new season is going to feature a lot of new characters, so we're just not super sure that there is room for all these people now that the show is back for another season and on a new network.
3 Rayna Will Close Down Her Record Label
Will this happen? We think so. We kind of hope so because let's be real here, it's getting a bit frustrating to keep seeing Rayna talking about how badly her record label is doing and sighing over the numbers. It never really seemed like this label was a good idea. Sure, the whole idea of having a home for artists that really treats them as they should be treated and lets them be creative is super great. But it's not that realistic. And we can't forget that whenever it seems like Rayna is producing a new artist that she swears is going to be super big in in the industry, something weird happens. The musician totally freaks out and storms off (yeah, it's usually that dramatic) or something similar goes down. So really, who thought this was really a good idea? Doesn't it seem like it would be much easier for Rayna to just resurrect her own musical career once again and really and truly make that work once again?
2 Deacon Will Own Up To His Mistakes
Oh, Deacon. He's definitely one of the hottest male characters on this show (if not THE hottest) and we just love seeing his scruffy face and his plaid shirts and jeans. He is some serious eye candy, that's for sure. But we have to admit that he really, really needs to own up to his mistakes. He needs to stop getting so angry and punching people and just being generally ridiculous. Sure, he's had a hard life and sure, he's healing from some pretty serious addiction issues (not to mention all his family drama). But he needs to be a real partner for Rayna and the time is now. Thankfully, we saw a much more gentle and emotional Deacon in the season five premiere, so this is one prediction that we honestly think will 100 percent come true. Phew. Rayna must be so thankful that she finally has a real husband around who is going to help her with all her struggles.
1 Juliette Will Be Better Than Ever
Juliette forever. She is literally the best thing about this show because she is so wild and crazy and unpredictable. She is the definition of drama and always keeps us guessing and wanting to keep tuning in. We think that in the fifth season of Nashville, Juliette will be better than ever. She is going to come back with a bang and she's going to be great in all aspects of her life. She is going to come back to the music scene and write an entirely new, super emotional and beautiful album about her recent struggles and hard time. It's going to blow everyone away and people are going to finally realize how talented she is. No one is going to think that she's merely a silly party girl, that's for sure. She's going to reunite with Avery and be the best mom ever, and we're thinking they might even have a second pregnancy by the end of season. You heard it here first.
