15 Reasons 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' Needs To End
12 seasons. 181 episodes. Lots of drama. Since Keeping Up with the Kardashians first aired in October of 2007, we have been glued to our television screens, desperate to find out what would happen next in the lives of the Kardashian-Jenner family. Things are definitely a whole lot different for this famous fam since that pilot. Sure, they're still super close and they're still as fabulous as ever… but with growing families and growing drama, it's safe to say that perhaps this show has had its time in the spotlight. Would it really be the worst thing ever if it was canceled? Would we run out of reality shows to watch? The answer to both those questions, of course, is a big no. While we love this family and pretty much will forever, we have to admit that we think the time has come to say goodbye… at least for the show that solidified their fame.
Here are 15 reasons Keeping Up with the Kardashians needs to end.
15 There Have Been Cancellation Rumors
After the tragedy that Kim suffered in Paris this past fall, there were rumors that the show was going to be canceled once and for all. Normally, talk of a popular and beloved show being canceled would totally be cause for alarm. Loyal fans would be up in arms about the whole deal, desperate to see more episodes. That doesn't really seem like what happened, does it? The general feeling was that it would make sense that the show would end after something so tragic and upsetting and scary. After all, when something like that happens, you start to think about what is truly important in life… aka your family. We thought it would be pretty logical if Kim wanted to focus on her own family and not on starring in a reality television series. That's why the news that the show was going to remain in production, after all, was a bit surprising, and that's why we think that the show should still end.
14 There's Too Much Fighting
It is no secret that this show has fights… and a whole lot of them. Seriously, when we watch any episode (or even any single scene), we're amazed at how many arguments big and small can happen. Sure, this isn't something unique to KUWTK since the majority of reality shows feature a lot of fighting. But it's a good reason why this show, in particular, should end sometime soon. We're not sure that we want to keep watching this famous family fight with each other. We love them, we sometimes feel like they're part of our own family, and we've grown attached to them over the years… but sometimes enough is enough. And enough is totally enough when it comes to seeing everyone on this show fight. Come on guys, can't we all just get along?! We know that arguments and conflict make good TV, but it's really too much.
13 The Rob Drama
It makes sense that the most recent season has featured Rob and his fiance Blac Chyna in a big way. They've been in the news so much, it would be weird if they weren't on this show too, and of course they have their own reality TV series as well. But the truth is that there is way too much Rob drama on this season and we think that's why it needs to end ASAP. A recent episode featured a baby shower and a massive argument… which really says it all, doesn't it? We don't want to tune in to so much conflict and tension and drama surrounding Rob. We really don't. Isn't a new baby cause for celebration, not fighting? Doesn't bringing new life into the world make us all realize what is truly important and what really matters? Well no, apparently not, at least not in the world of reality television and Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The Rob stuff is enough to make us want to tune out and it's enough to make us want this thing to end already.
12 It's Not New Anymore
The whole point of the show was that this was a totally and completely new concept. We had never been able to follow the lives of the wealthy and fabulous week after week. Sure, there were a few reality shows like this before this one, but they really didn't come close. We were so into this show, we told everyone that we knew to tune in, and every new episode was like a gift. We watched the girls go on dates, fall in love, buy clothes, fight with each other, say hilarious things (especially when they didn't think that they were saying hilarious things) and generally be fabulous. In the beginning, that was a big deal and we were there for it. Now? Well, now it seems like the same old, same old, and we're not sure that anything could really breathe new life into the show. We think that it needs to end while we still are fans and before we get too annoyed and frustrated (which is honestly starting to happen). It's better to go out in style.
11 It's A Lot Of Seasons
12 season is a lot of seasons, whether we're talking about a beloved drama, a sitcom that is still funny, or a reality series like this one. Whenever a show is on the air for that long, it risks getting boring, old and stale… and while we don't want to be super negative, we have to admit that we think this is what is happening here. Just think about another show that has had 12 seasons, let alone a reality one. It's hard to find one, right? Think about each franchise of the Real Housewives series. New Jersey has had seven seasons and Beverly Hills is now in its seventh season as well. So 12 is a whole lot. It's difficult to imagine most shows making it that far, so we think that it would be a good idea for Keeping Up with the Kardashians to say goodbye and be gone for good. It wouldn't be a tragedy, we wouldn't freak out, and we would be able to stay calm, cool and collected.
10 We're Used To Them
At first, the Kardashians were a total phenomenon. They're beautiful, they're the definition of fashionable, and they are just so cool. We've been endlessly fascinated by their every word and move for years now… but for the first time ever, we can say that we're pretty much used to them. What used to pass for major drama is now just no big deal. We literally shrug when we hear new Kardashian or Jenner news, to be totally and completely honest, and we think that this is the general feeling. Given that a new episode of KUWTK feels like yet another day at the office so to speak, we're not so sure that it needs to continue. If we're so used to these women and the way that they act and talk to each other, do we really need to keep watching them? We really don't think there is any point and we're not sure that we're not alone here. It just feels like there's nothing else that could shock us at this point.
9 They're Super Busy
If one thing has changed since 2007, it's how busy those Kardashians and Jenners are. It's pretty crazy how much they have going on at any given time. They definitely make the rest of us look like we have no lives. It seems like every single day, someone is announcing their new game or make-up line or perfume line, and let's not forget the books and apps these women have worked on. It seems like it would be pretty tough to continue to be able to film the show, right? We can only imagine keeping up this kind of schedule. Sure, we could argue that since this show is, you know, a reality show, it's all about their real lives, but we all know that some things are a tiny bit crafted for the camera and that not all reality shows are 100 percent real. It's just the way that it goes. So it still takes some effort to appear on this show and we just don't think that it makes much sense given what is going on in all of their careers and lives.
8 A Show Isn't Necessary
It is pretty safe to say that back in 2007 when the series started, social media was not quite the thing that it is now. Social media has totally exploded in terms of popularity in recent years… and so has the way that celebrities use these platforms. The Kardashians and Jenners, in particular, are really into social media. And that is a massive understatement. They love Instagram and Twitter and Snapchat and they use these on a regular basis. So with that being said, we just do not think that this family needs to have a show. It is just not necessary when we are a part of their lives anyway and we seem to be able to see what is going on with them on a daily basis. Even when they go on family vacations, these celebs are down to post on Instagram and keep us tuned in.
7 There Are Too Many Rumors
The flip side of being on a really popular show, especially a reality one, is that everyone starts making up stuff about you. This is definitely happening to the Kardashians and the Jenners. Of course, Kim is getting the brunt of the rumors, since most people are claiming that she and Kayne West are not doing so well and are basically on the brink of divorce. Now there is another rumor swirling around that Kim and Kylie aren't acting so sisterly these days, which would break our hearts if it's true, but again, we don't think that this rumor has even an ounce of truth to it. When there is so much bad stuff being said about you and your family, it would make sense to take a step back from the public eye and stay out of the spotlight a bit. And we think that's exactly what this famous family needs to do right about now.
6 They Have Their Own Lives
Of course, these women have always had their own lives, but it seems even more obvious now. Kim and Kanye are dealing with their own stuff, Kourtney and Scott have just gotten back together and probably want to focus on rebuilding their family, and Kylie and Kendall are becoming young women as we speak. We just think that they have so much going on and so much to deal with that maybe it's not the greatest idea to still be starring on a weekly television series. It seems like anyone would find this too much to deal with, and while they probably still enjoy having the show, it seems like overkill. Sometimes it seems like these women have already gone their separate ways and have their own lives, so maybe having a family-focused reality show just isn't relevant or in the cards anymore. Sure, they love each other and will always be a family, but maybe they don't need to be on a show together now.
5 There's A Legal Battle
Apparently, there's a whole big legal battle going on since these ladies don't want Blac Chyna to be able to take their name and become an official Kardashian. No one can really blame them, right? This must have happened before and it must be hard to tell who is for real and who isn't. That's life in Hollywood and in the fast lane. But since this is definitely not a great thing that's happening, it's possible that the TV show has just run its course. After all, this legal battle shouldn't become part of the storyline since that just seems too important and serious for a reality show. It seems like that should stay private and a family matter. On that note, it's pretty crazy and a bit complicated that Blac and Kylie have this connection (as we all know by now, Kylie's boyfriend has a baby with Blac), and it seems a bit too complicated even for a reality show.
4 It Feels Like Time
The fact that people are even wondering if this show will end and if it should proves that it's definitely time to say goodbye. It doesn't have to be a bad, dramatic thing. In fact, it might just be the best thing that ever happened to any of these celebs. They would have time to focus on family, on their growing careers, and on their fabulous and amazing social media accounts. They could enjoy regular old family time and special occasions without having cameras around and, on that note, they wouldn't have to deal with having cameras follow them pretty much everywhere. It sounds like that would get pretty annoying and old after a while, and since this show has been airing since 2007, it's definitely gone on long enough. Maybe they wouldn't even care if the show ended. Maybe they would celebrate and jump for joy. It seems like it would be worth a try, right? What if they enjoyed having more privacy? It seems like that would be worth knowing.
3 There Could Be A Final Season
Think about how cool it is to know when your show is ending. That means that you can go out in style and that you don't have to settle for whatever episode happened to be the last one. There are a lot of producers and show creators and writers that wish this could happen to them and had to just accept their show's fate if it was canceled in the middle of a season or without much notice. If KUWTK was canceled soon, there could be a final season, and that would mean that this family could choose how they want the show to end. They could really allow things to come full circle and it would be a very emotional and moving experience for us loyal fans who have been there since the beginning. We really wish that this could be, well, reality (pardon the pun) because we think that this family needs to heal away from the cameras.
2 We Wouldn't See The Last Of Them
If Keeping Up with the Kardashians was canceled soon, either sometime this season or after a final season, we wouldn't see the last of this famous family. So what would the big deal be? It's not like we wouldn't still be able to follow them on Instagram or Snapchat. After all, we read about these women pretty much every single day and there's always something new going on. They keep us talking and guessing, that's for sure, and so we can be sure that this wouldn't be the end of their time in the spotlight. But maybe this would be a good thing. Maybe so much overexposure can have a lot of negative effects that can be hard to see at first. They must all be getting pretty exhausted right about now. It definitely isn't easy to juggle starring on a reality show about your life with everything else that you have going on, and now they have some family problems to deal with as well (but more on that later). We're sure if that if the show ended, these guys wouldn't even be that upset, and that's why it needs to end soon.
1 Stuff Is Getting Real
Sometimes the question, "Is this too real for reality television?" needs to be asked. There was a lot of controversy surrounding a season of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills when Taylor's husband tragically took his own life. People wondered if that should be filmed or even part of the show, and in the end, he wasn't part of that season and the producers were very careful about what ended up on the show. The same thing is happening now with Kanye West being in the hospital and obviously going through a really hard time. It's possible that for the Kardashians and the Jenners, their lives are getting way too real for reality TV and it might be time to step back from the cameras and just, you know, live their actual lives. It doesn't sound like the worst idea in the world, does it? It actually sounds like the best. After all, at the end of the day, family is what matters, and we know that this famous clan knows that best of all.
