15 Shadiest Things Nicki Minaj Really Wants To Bury

This week Nicki Minaj made a new world record after she surpassed Aretha Franklin on the Billboard Charts to become the woman with the most Hot 100 Hits in any genre. Her three latest hits No Frauds, Regret in Your Tears and Changed It pushed her to 76 hits and the top spot. Now the self-proclaimed "Queen" can celebrate becoming the most successful female Billboard artist of all time.

Despite being super talented, Minaj also credits her success to not allowing anyone in the industry take advantage of her. The 34-year-old told Vogue magazine, "As a woman in the industry, you try so hard to remain strong and to not let your guard down. And once you let the walls down and let people see that you were a regular person who has feelings, sometimes people take advantage of that."

She is known as one of the fiercest rappers on the planet, her tough persona and ability to bury her darkest secrets have kept those who wish to ever challenge her at bay. Although with thanks to the internet, she won't be able to hide from these shadiest facts about herself forever.

15 Her Brother's Alleged Horrendous Crime

Nicki was rocked by claims her older brother, 37-year-old Jelani Maraj, had repeatedly assaulted a 12-year-old girl in Long Island, New York throughout 2015. In August last year, his wife divorced him just days before they were due to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Following his arrest, Minaj posted the $100,000 bail but is yet to make a public statement about the allegations.

Maraj's legal team stated, “Our firm has good faith that the complainant in this case has had intimate contact with a man who is not (Minaj's brother) and who may have caused there to be physical evidence.”

If her brother takes a plea deal, he could face 15 years in prison. If he refuses to plead guilty and is later found by a jury to be guilty, he would likely face life behind bars.

    14 The Real Onika

Born Onika Tanya Maraj in Trinidad and Tobago, the real Nicki Minaj was very petite and almost unrecognizable without her world famous curves and signature wigs. She told E Online, "Before my first album, I used to have a natural look. Only my really underground followers knew that side of me."

During her childhood, her family relocated to The Bronx, New York, and when she was 19-years-old her career as an actress didn't take off. To make ends meet she worked as a waitress at Red Lobster but was eventually fired for being rude to the customers. She claimed that in total she was fired from fifteen jobs for the same reasons. Although acting and customer service was not her thing, she was creating her third mixtape when she met Lil' Wayne; the two worked together on the track Can't Stop Won't Stop and the rest is showbiz history.

    13 Her Dark Family Past

Nicki Minaj's father Robert Maraj, a financial executive and part-time gospel singer, was a violent alcoholic and a crack cocaine addict. On the show Nicki Minaj: Beneath The Bravado, she revealed, "All of my young and teenage years we lived in fear that my mother would be killed by my father. It was ridiculous. My father was violent - physically and verbally."

A few years ago things appeared to be getting better. She told The Guardian, "He's still with my mother. He went to rehab and cleaned himself up. Eventually, they started going to church a lot, and he got saved and started changing his life. He's away from drugs now. He doesn't instill fear in people anymore." But then in 2013, he was arrested for drink-driving and her mother took out a restraining order against him.

12 Accusations Of Ripping Off Lil' Kim's Act

Since the very start of her career, Nicki Minaj has fought off accusations she stole her whole style and act from Lil' Kim who was a platinum-selling rapper in the 90s. Minaj has consistently denied the claims but fans of Lil' Kim have been quick to dig up almost identical photos of the two rappers - twenty years apart. There were the matching shots of the pair both crouching before the camera in an almost identical pose, the almost identical red capes and wigs, and the bleach blonde hair photo shoot whilst laying in an almost identical swimming pool.

Minaj laid low for awhile but then dragged the feud up again when she attended an event with half of her chest on show covered only by a diamond-like shape. People were quick to tweet how similar this was to Lil' Kim's seashell outfit, although Nicki argued her outfit was in fact inspired by Picasso. Yet we're still waiting on an explanation for all the other "coincidences."

    11 Lying About Her Intimacy

During the release of her first album, in an attempt to grow her own fanbase, Nicki Minaj told the world she was bisexual and would date both sexes. Then during an interview with Rolling Stone magazine they reported, "Early in her career Minaj claimed to be bisexual, but now says she just did that to get attention. 'I think girls are sexy,' she says. 'But I'm not going to lie and say that I date girls.'"

The rapper, who alluded to her bisexuality throughout her second studio album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, grew her LGBT fan base at an alarming rate after "coming out" as bisexual. Although quickly changing her preference afterwards did not damage her music career and her PR team quickly buried the supposed 'bisexuality' claims.

10 Her Weird Stuffed Animal Obsession

In 2010, Nicki Minaj tweeted her fans that she had lost her pink stuffed monkey named Oscar on a flight from New York to Miami and she was offering a staggering reward of $50,000 for it's safe return. She wrote, "Plz help! All Points Bulletin: Where's Oscar?!! $50,000 reward for Oscar. I call him Osk for short! He was last seen on a Miami bound plane from New York. Plz help!"

Weirdly Minaj sees her collection of stuffed animal toys as her own children. The singer also has an alter ego "The Harajuku Barbie", who dresses in colourful, outrageous outfits and also has a softly spoken voiced. Minaj's other personalities are a homosexual male named "Roman Zolanski", Roman's mother "Martha Zolanski", the over-sexual "Nicki Lewinsky" and the mysterious "Nicki the Ninja". So maybe being close to stuffed animals isn't actually the weirdest thing about her.

    9 Her Exploding Butt

In 2014, Nicki Minaj had an incident on stage during a Fashion Rocks concert that left her very red-faced and her fans with a lot of questions. When the Starships rapper started gyrating on a chair, it appeared her world famous derriere actually exploded underneath her.

She is well known for her curves but many fans believe she has had butt injection, especially as younger photos of Minaj appear to display a completely different figure although. The apparent explosion on stage could have been caused by extreme heat on the implants, which can happen if these are not professional implanted. New York plastic surgeon Matthew Schulman told Women's Health, "FDA-approved buttock implants should by all means never explode." Maybe Minaj is trying so hard to keep her implants secret from the world that she's using a backstreet surgeon to help her out?

8 Her Secret Collection of Nude Selfies

Nicki Minaj is no stranger when it comes to nudity. The Anaconda rapper often posts half naked images on her own Instagram page but her ex-boyfriend, Safaree Samuels, found himself in big trouble when explicit photos were posted to his Twitter of Minaj without her permission.

According to TMZ, the since deleted snaps were extremely explicit and very suggestive. A spokesperson for Safaree told TMZ the pictures were leaked and they were doing everything they could to keep more photos from appearing online. The pair had dated for 12-years before they split in 2014, so it's no wonder the occasional sexual selfie was sent between the two. Luckily the pictures have not resurfaced ever since and Minaj now only shows off what skin she wants her fans to see.

7 When She Bullied Someone With A Mental Illness

Late last year, Nicki Minaj was driving her car through the streets of Miami when she had a run-in with an unidentified woman. The rapper could be seen with her window down calling out the woman, causing intimidation by beckoning her to "come here", and later laughing as the woman walked away. The video was later posted to her own Instagram but fans were quick to point out the woman she was fighting with clearly was not mentally well.

One of her Instagram fans wrote, "No need to post it, no class. You are not going to heaven for this one. You're a piece of trash." The National Alliance on Mental Illness told TMZ, "Nobody would make fun of a cancer patient, and mental illness is an illness like any other." Minaj's team refused to comment and decided to bury the news instead along with all her other controversies.

    6 Accusations of Ghost Writing

Minaj has always fiercely protected her won songwriting techniques and when she made a speech at the BET Awards she announced, "When you hear Nicki Minaj spit, you know Nicki Minaj wrote it." Then rapper PartyNextDoor caused a Twitter beef when he started to like a lot of tweets which claimed he was the ghostwriter for her latest song, Regret in Your Tears.

Minaj quickly took to her own Twitter to put PartyNextDoor in his place, she tweeted: "PARTYNEXTDOOR had NOTHING to do w/ #RegretInYourTears - n***a aint never heard that song a day in his life." It was not the first time she had to defend herself against ghostwriting rumors, rapper Rah Digga claimed her ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels also penned a lot of tracks for her. This is something Minaj denies profusely - maybe denies it a little too much.

5 Threatening To "Shoot" Mariah Carey

Way back in 2012, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey seemed like two ideal megastars to judge American Idol, however, throughout the show, it became more and more apparent that they couldn't stand each other. The battle of the divas began with the two being unable to agree on which singers to put through and just continued to spiral out of control.

Crafty editing from the production team cooled down the feud but a leaked video online showed the extent Minaj was willing to go through to put Carey in the place. On the leaked tape the rapper starts shouting, "Think I'm playing? Think this s**t is a f***ing joke? Say one more disrespectful thing to me, if you say one more disrespectful thing to me - off with your head!" Carey replied, "I am not being disrespectful."

Things got really out of hand when a production staff member told TMZ that off-camera Minaj said, "'If I had a gun, I would shoot her." Her team strongly deny these threats however her full aggressive side was caught on camera so at least fans could see exactly how aggressive Minaj had become with her co-judge.

4 Her Attention-Seeking Beef With Other Celebs

If there was one quick way to get attention in showbiz - it's through calling out another celeb and Nicki Minaj is no stranger to sounding off on Twitter. She has famously feuded with rapper Remy Ma for years and she challenged him in a tweet that read: "I'll give you half a million dollars if you can book ANY show or interview without mentioning (my) name."

Then when Taylor Swift was nominated for her Bad Blood video, Minaj tweeted: "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year." When Swift tweeted her back, Minaj wrote that she didn't know what Taylor meant and tried to brush all the shade under the rug - presumably because Swift's 84 million fans (compared to Minaj's 20 million) stuck up for Minaj.

Then her notorious fight with Miley Cyrus during the VMAs when Minaj spat down the mic, "Now back to this b***h who had a lot to say about me this week in the press. Miley, what's good?" Many believed it was another fake beef caused by Minaj as during the live broadcast the camera panned back to her laughing. Real or fake - fans are getting quite sick of listening to her feuding more than actually rapping.

    3 Lip-Syncing Accusations

In 2010, Nicki Minaj was accepting an award for Best Female Artist at the BET Awards and she performed a string of her hits. However, there were accusations of her lip-syncing as her mic was on but no sound was coming out as she sang. She later tweeted, "U could hear me in the auditorium but apparently not in TV land. Shout out to the sound guy. They say it'll be fixed wen it re-airs. :/"

She performed with Taylor Swift on stage at the 2016 VMAs and many believed she lip-synced her own hit Trini Dem Girls because her costume was too big for her to breathe and she can't apparently dance and sing at the same time.

Her PR team got to work and Minaj posted a video to her lip-syncing to Celine Dion. Now when you search for her lip-syncing the top hits are related to her intentional Celine Dion cover - clever play, Minaj.

2 Accusations Of Partying Too Hard

The Feeling Myself rapper had a brief relationship with Meek Mill before they split this year. They appeared like a good match for each other but it wasn't meant to be. Gossip website Media Take Out reported Minaj was spotted partying in Las Vegas over the Memorial Day Weekend and at one point Mill was caught "sniffing" a mysterious white substance. The video was published online and went viral for all the wrong reasons until someone (we're assuming Minaj's PR team) were quick to remove the video from being online.

Minaj's ex, Safaree, also claimed on Twitter that throughout their relationship together she had been addicted to a pain medication called Percosets. He tweeted during an online Twitter feud with his ex, "Percosets really deteriorate the human brain. Thank god I never got hooked to that s**t! They make me throw up." Minaj tweeted back, "Miserable ppl refuse to move on w/their lives" and all on the Twittersphere eventually went quiet.

    1 A Secret Child?

One of the biggest rumors still following Nicki Minaj around today is that she fell pregnant when she was just 15-years-old. Many were quick to make up their own theories, with some fans tweeting it could have been "teen belly fat" and others claiming it was just an unflattering angle.

Then Minaj rapped on her track All Things Go about her younger brother Caiah but she also mentioned her "child" would have been the same age as him. The rap reads: "I want Caiah to go to college just to say we did it. My child with Aaron, would've have been 16 any minute. So in some ways I feel like Caiah is the both of them. It's like he's Cai's little angel looking over him." Nobody knows who the guy "Aaron" is she claims to have had a child.

Minaj was 31-years-old when The Pinkprint album was released with this track featured. If her "child" was turning "16 any minute" the timeline makes sense that the above teenage pregnancy was, in fact, real. However, this is something Minaj has not spoke publicly about and will likely keep buried for some time.
