15 Things You Didn't Know About Bachelorette Contestant Jordan Rodgers
Jordan Rodgers is a current frontrunner on The Bachelorette, which as you probably know, features a girl picking her true love out of a group of eligible men. This year the lucky girl is JoJo Fletcher. Jordan Rodgers has been quite popular with the ladies and it is understandable why: he's tall, he's handsome, and he's a football player! With athletic skills, a famous family, and an impressive education under his belt, it will be hard to understand if JoJo does not pick this dashing fella! When you fall in love, you need to learn everything about them. Since America has fallen in love with him, we're learning new things about Jordan Rodgers right alongside JoJo. Here are some things that you (or the Bachelorette!) might not know. While we've learned a lot about him from the show, maybe there are some not-so-obvious things hidden in this list that will make him even more intriguing to you. Take a look!
15 He's A Good Football Player
That's right, Jordan Rodgers was already a household name to some because of his stunning football career! He has played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Miami Dolphins and the BC Lions. This quarterback's talent was definitely noticed by recruiters, and he had mild success on his teams. Unfortunately, he was released from the Jaguars in 2013 and cut from the Buccaneers and the Dolphins in 2014. He then apparently quit the BC Lions shortly after joining in 2015. Though he no longer belongs to a specific team, this only gives him more time to be on The Bachelorette and win the heart of JoJo. His priorities may be different now, but he will always be a football player deep down! And you better believe he still has that football player's body, despite not being an active player anymore. JoJo is a lucky girl to have him vying for her affections!
14 His Bro Is Aaron Rodgers
If you haven't heard of Jordan, you might have heard of his older brother Aaron Rodgers. Aaron is the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. And this guy has a lotof success behind his name. Not only was he voted MVP in the 2010 football season, Associated Press voted him Athlete of the Year in 2011 as well as league MVP in 2011 and 2014. Needless to say, this guy is one of the players on top in the NFL! He's been with his team since 2005 and was credited with being a main player in winning the SuperBowl XLV in 2010. He also is known for coming up with the “Championship Belt” touchdown dance, where he pretends to put on a championship belt. This has become a popular move for Green Bay Packers fans! He's also dating actress Olivia Munn, who has recently been seen in 2016's X-Men: Apocolypse. Jordan's brother is just as if not more famous than he is!
13 They're Super Real Siblings
Jordan recently revealed to JoJo on The Bachelorette that Aaron and him don't necessarily have the best relationship. He even said that Aaron probably only found out he was on the show by the media, not from Jordan personally. His face was even blurred out of a family photo when JoJo visited Jordan's hometown. Both Jordan and his other brother Luke, wouldn't say what exactly happened, although some people are reporting it has something to do with Aaron's fame. “It would have been nice to share JoJo with not only my parents and my brother Luke but Aaron as well,” he said on the show. “I miss my brother.” Aww! We, along with JoJo, can only guess what happened between the brothers. “It makes me wonder just, you know, where did things go wrong?” JoJo asked on the show. Maybe she'll learn some things as her and Jordan become closer, but as for the general public, we'll just have to wait and see! It definitely makes them seem like super normal, real and relatable siblings though since as we all know, you can't always be the best of friends.
12 His Dad Played Football Too
It seems that the love of football runs through this entire family! Jordan's father, Edward Rodgers, was an offensive lineman for California States University's Chico Wildcats in the '70s. Jordan has shared on Instagram that his dad is his “best friend.” As of now, his football days are behind him and he's a chiropractor who owns Rodgers Chiropractic. He apparently graduated from Chico State University with a Bachelors in Physical Education/Exercise Science and even has a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, so it's pretty obvious how he got into the line of work that he did! He also graduated Western States Chiropractic College and is a card-carrying member of the American College of Sports Medicine, according to his official website. Impressive! This father not only is close with his kids but seems to have the education and talent to help people. And we're sure his football past may have had a little to do with his son's current careers!
11 He Was A Football Star In High School
Jordan went to Pleasant Valley High School where we're 100 percent sure he was a big man on campus. He played quarterback for them as well and the team had an 8-3-1 record. Pretty impressive stats! Pleasant Valley High is located in Chico, California, and their mascot is the Viking. The school must be super proud of their alumni, especially considering his brother Aaron went to the same high school. The Vikings must have been unstoppable during each of the boys' tenure! Not many schools can say they have two NFL stars that were in their midst for their high school careers. We can just picture Jordan being the star of his school and getting attention everywhere he went in Chico after leading his school to victory again and again. Jordan took JoJo to visit his high school during a visit to his hometown on The Bachelorette, and he seemed proud of where he came from.
10 He's Got Other Hobbies
Sources say Jordan didn't just succeed in football, but he also lettered in basketball and track. He must have gotten this from his mom's side, as his mother Darla played basketball and was a dancer. It's not unusual for athletes to be into all kinds of sports, but it is pretty neat he was so good at all of them! I mean who doesn't want a man who can excel at any sport? If JoJo and Jordan were to have children, we have a pretty good feeling they would be out there on the field, track or court just like dad. That was not all he did, however: he also participated in musical theater! That's right, according to sources, he was also a little performer! This is just too cute to us, and it shows how versatile he is. Jordan clearly has many interests and while musical theater may seem out-of-the-blue, it does make one other fact about him more clear…
9 He Was In 'Pitch Perfect 2'
Remember that sing-off in Pitch Perfect 2 that randomly involved the Green Bay Packers? Well guess what… Jordan was one of them! He didn't have a speaking role, but he did get a perfect cameo performing with other actual football players. His music theater background sure makes a whole lot more sense now, doesn't it? His “team” sang “Bootylicious” by Destiny's Child before being the second team eliminated during the country songs category. This is a hilarious moment and must have been a blast for him to participate in. He's rumored to want to get into broadcasting and the entertainment business, so here's hoping he gets more roles! Maybe he'll get to show off more of his acting chops, or even singing! Check out Pitch Perfect 2 and see if you can spot him! Until then, he obviously has a little TV career going, and we can watch him on that!
8 He Went To Vanderbilt
If you didn't know, Vanderbilt University is a pretty big deal. He went to Butte College for the first two years of college and played football there before being granted a scholarship to Vanderbilt, located in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended this school for the last two years of college. Before deciding on Vanderbilt, he also had the options to go to the University of Kansas and Western Kentucky University. He had a tough decision to make! These are all known to be quality schools, and it must have been flattering to have multiple choices for where he could go. But choosing Vanderbilt served him well, as he made Vanderbilt history with his quarterback stats. Even though he attended the university for only his last two years, he made the top 10 of multiple passing and total offense categories. Not only was he the big man on campus in high school, he seemed to be pretty darn successful at his colleges too!
7 He's A Smartie
Not only did this guy go to Vanderbilt, but he was on the academic honor roll, too! He was on the 2010, 2011, and 2012 honor roll at his university. Jordan completed a Bachelor's degree in Human and Organizational Development and graduated in December 2012. “The Human and Organizational Development (HOD) major is designed for students interested in careers that involve finding solutions to human problems in organizations and communities,” says the official Vanderbilt website. “Graduates are prepared to assume positions in businesses, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.” Wow! Sounds like a cool major! “Upon graduation, many students in the program find positions in diverse organizations such as management consulting, advertising/public relations, marketing, policy analysis/government, profit and nonprofit healthcare, and community development agencies,” it adds. That didn't end up being one of the paths he chose, but we know he certainly has the qualifications! Maybe his degree will help him with his potential broadcasting career!
6 He Used To Have Long Hair
It's true! Jordan has short hair now, but used to have longer locks back in the day! Nowadays, however, it's perfectly gelled and styled. But a couple of years ago, his hair was long enough where he could even rock a man-bun! Jordan's hair has actually been a subject for discussion because of its versatility. There have even been full articles about his gorgeous hair! Both Good Morning America and e! News have tweeted about his convo-worthy hair as it slides out of place or he experiences the occasional flyaway. Who knew his new hair-do would be so popular and also a point of debate? You can check out his various styles on his Instagram, where you can see it change as time goes on. It's like you can tell what point in time the picture is solely due to his hair! Whatever hairstyle he has, JoJo seems to love him either way!
5 He Might Have Left Someone Behind
This is just through the reality TV grapevine, but rumor has it that Jordan was going out with someone before coming onto to the show… like, the night before leaving for the show. Awkward much? This rumor about an unnamed girl was reported by Reality Steve, who is known for revealing the winner of the show before the finale even airs, so he's clearly in the know somehow. Reality Steve insists he's a “dog and a player” and “… Jordan Rodgers was actually with another girl before he left for the show. Like, he was with her at her place the night before he left for filming. Not someone he was casually seeing, or occasionally dating. Someone who he had believing he wanted to be with her.” Ouch! That's got to hurt. If this is true, we hope JoJo has better luck taming this dog, because he certainly could've been one in the past!
4 He Might Have Talked To JoJo Before Filming
Okay, this is Reality Steve again, but he's proven himself to be a reliable source in the past… and this gossip is just too good to pass up! Steve suggests that since Jordan was announced as a contestant 11 days before filming, that means JoJo talked to him before, giving him a leg-up in the competition. JoJo's family is very wealthy and since Jordan is a star football player, so really that goes hand in hand right? They easily could have run in the same socialite circles. Want more evidence? Jordan was the one JoJo chose to kiss on the first night. Then again, maybe their connection really was that instantaneous! This was a storyline last season of The Bachelorette, that one of the contestants was speaking with the bachelorette before any of the other men, but not this time. Perhaps it's untrue! But it is Reality Steve. So the jury's out on this one.
3 Jordan's Ex Is Unhappy
Jordan actually dated Brittany Farrar, his brother's girlfriend Olivia Munn's trainer and friend. Got all that?! But as soon as the show premiered, Brittany took to social media to have her say. According to US Weekly, she captioned a GIF of Chris Pratt with the words, “'Riding the bench doesn't get in the way of a relationship, but cheating does." Yikes! Sounds like drama. We wonder if JoJo has seen this post and knows this story. Would she still want to pick him if so? Maybe Reality Steve is right and Jordan is a dog and a player. Or maybe he just hasn't found the right girl until JoJo! Can she be the one to get him to settle down? Or is his ex even telling the truth? We'll have to see how this plays out as the show continues. Of course, there's never a shortage of drama and conflict on any reality show, particularly this one, so it's not super shocking. But it is pretty interesting!
2 He's Fashionable (Kind Of)
According to sources, Jordan loves a good black or grey jacket. What a charmer! However, he has been known to wear something a little different on Christmas morning… a pink onesie! Jordan once again shows his versatility: he can be handsome and goofy, too! We know he's a family man, so I bet his fam gets a good laugh out of his silly attire! He's got an Instagram photo with his brother Luke joining in on the fun by wearing a onesie of his own! Luke's pajama's, however, weren't Christmas themed -- he was wearing an Ellen DeGeneres onesie! While Jordan is enchanting JoJo in person, we hope she likes his silly side too. After all, if it's a tradition, she's gonna have to deal with that pink onesie on Christmas morning! If anything, this might make him more attractive to her. Everyone loves a guy with a good sense of humor.
1 He's Courageous
Jordan is known to have a fear of heights… but he likes to “challenge himself.” Not surprising coming from this athlete! What is surprising? That'd he go so far to challenge himself as to go skydiving! Jordan didn't let his fear stop him and he conquered it instead! It's super attractive when a man puts on a brave face like Jordan did. We bet his bravery will come in handy with his future wife one day! Being an athlete (especially a football player) is pretty brave too when you think about it too. We mean you get tackled endlessly in that game, especially as a quarterback! Jordan is already doing a brave thing by being vulnerable and putting his heart out there for JoJo. Falling in love can be scary, but Jordan seems ready for it with this woman. If a brave man that pushes himself to his limits doesn't impress JoJo, we don't know what will!
