15 Thoughts We All Have When We Finish A Netflix Show
There's nothing better than curling up on the couch on a Friday night in our sweatpants with junk food and a new Netflix show. Whether it's the latest trendy drama or an old season of a beloved sitcom, these shows fill our lives with joy and comfort and are always there for us. But if the best thing in life is starting a new Netflix series, the worst thing in life is definitely when we're all done. We know that eventually all good things come to an end, as the popular saying goes, and that we have to just move on. But sometimes, that's a lot easier said than done, and we wish that this show never had to end. Why can't the episodes just magically multiply so we can watch more and more? We totally think that should happen. It's a good idea, right? Here are 15 thoughts we all have when we finish a Netflix how.
15 "That's It!?"
The second we finish the latest season of Orange Is The New Black or House Of Cards or a shorter season like Stranger Things, we feel a bit deflated. We wonder if the ending was bad… or if we're just in a bad mood because we finished the show. We didn't want to finish it. We really didn't. Watching a new Netflix show is just such a glorious and wonderful experience and we never, ever want that experience to end. We all need a good binge every once in a while (okay, okay, every single weekend). It's good for the soul. It's required for this crazy thing we call life. Sometimes we wonder if that was really supposed to be the season (or series) finale or if they somehow made a mistake. After all, sometimes endings are a bit too clever for our liking, and we think that the storylines and characters should have ended up in a much different place.
14 "Is It Too Soon To Watch It All Again?"
Sure, we just spent an entire weekend watching an entire season of a Netflix show. But we still think that we need to start the whole thing all over again. We just had so much fun the first time around and we don't want to give up on the experience yet. Sure, say that we're too attached to our Netflix and that we need to get outside and feel the fresh air on our faces or something boring like that. But we don't need to go outside. We have everything that we need right here in our comfy and cozy apartments and that's the way that it's going to go. We seriously consider watching this show from the beginning. We think it would be a really interesting cultural experience. We could watch it a lot slower and more carefully since we wouldn't feel the need to rush through the episodes in order to finish ASAP and skip the spoilers.
13 "Should I Go Be Social Now?"
When we're in the throes of a good Netflix binge, we don't see anyone. We can't. We're too into this show and it's honestly all that matters to us. It's like nothing is even happening in our lives except the fact that we're watching this great show. When we finally finish the show, we start wondering if we should go out into the world and be social. Our boyfriends probably miss us and want to see us, right? And our best friends need girl talk and drinks and all that. The funny thing about this is once we see the people in our lives again, we usually end up talking about… Netflix. Okay, okay, so maybe we have a bit of a problem. Maybe it's a bit of an addiction. But we don't think that's such a bad thing (or even a bad thing at all) since everyone that we know is really obsessed with Netflix too. It's pretty much a requirement for being a human being these days.
12 "I'm In A Deep Depression"
The sad thing about finishing a Netflix show is how totally and completely miserable we feel. It's almost like we're in the deep throes of a depression. Okay, so we get that it's not a real depression… but hey, it feels like it. We can't get out of bed. We can't get off the couch and turn off Netflix. We don't want to go outside and feel the suns on our faces. Nope, we don't want to do that at all. We wonder if our lives have any meaning at all. Shouldn't we feel glad that we had the experience of watching this glorious and amazing show at all? Shouldn't we agree with the whole "it's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all" thing? The concept totally applies here, right? But for whatever reason, it's like we should have never watched this season at all because now we can't believe that it's all over. It just feels so totally unfair.
11 "I Need More Now"
We just want to keep watching Netflix and watching Netflix. We're like addicts who need another fix. We try our best to find another show to binge-watch because we're desperate for a new obsession. We feel like this is the most important thing in the world right now. We need another fix and we need it right about now. Not tomorrow. Not next weekend. But right now. So what if we just spent ten hours this entire weekend watching TV? We don't care. Ten hours is absolutely nothing. We can always spend more time watching TV. We're millennials. This is what we're made for, after all. This is what we do. Who needs a job or friends or a boyfriend or anything like that? We just need Netflix and right now we need more and more of it. Please and thank you. So what if we stay up all night watching more TV and are crazy tired at work tomorrow? It will totally be worth it.
10 "What If I Never Find Another Show I Love?"
The logical next step after a good binge is to find another show that we can binge. What else are we going to do, call our friends or go outside? As we said before, we might not do that. We then spend forever browsing Netflix and trying to find another show to get into… and then we wonder if we've watched all the good television that there is in the world (or at least on this super popular streaming service). What if we never, ever find another show that we love? Or at least another show that we love as much as this one? We're sure that's not possible. We're pretty sure, at least. There must be a whole lot of shows that we would enjoy as much as the one that we just happily binge-watched. But for some reason, we're not so sure right now, and we're not very hopeful. We're scanning and scanning the titles and the words are just blurring into each other. There is literally nothing to watch. We are totally confident about this.
9 "I Feel Like A Different Person"
When we finish a Netflix show, we honestly feel like a different person. Sure, we're however more hours older since we just spent all that time on our couch devouring these episodes. But we also feel older, wiser and more mature. Well, at least that's what we're hoping for, but we're pretty sure that this is the case. We love Netflix and its glorious shows because we feel like watching this entertainment makes us better people. These shows teach us about the human condition. When we watch these amazing TV shows, especially dramas, we learn so much. We learn how to be a good person, how to be in relationships, how to fight and talk and love and enjoy this crazy thing called life. We also learn about tension and conflict and following our hearts and our dreams. So really, we're required to binge watch on a regular basis. We just have to.
8 "I Probably Need A Life"
Then we start wondering if maybe we need a life. A real life. A life with friends and family and a career and hobbies and maybe a cute boyfriend. A cute and funny boyfriend if we're dreaming. Is this really all there is to life? Just watching Netflix show after Netflix show? Maybe we need some hobbies and interests. Maybe we need to go to a yoga or barre class. We've heard those are pretty fun and really good workouts. They're popular for a reason, right? Maybe we need to do something creative like take up photography or painting, or maybe we should get more active and learn to run or at least get off our butts and walk around our neighborhoods more often. It's not that we're upset that we're spending so much time watching TV. No, we could never feel that way. We 100 percent love TV and we're committed to it. But sometimes, especially when we've just finished a show, we wonder if there is more to life.
7 "Did My BFF Watch This Too?"
When we finish a Netflix show, we're dying to talk about it. We just have to. Looking at what strangers say on social media or what critics say in recaps or reviews is pretty fun… but it's not the same as a marathon texting session with our best friends about the show that we just watched and obsessed over. Our best friends are the only ones that really get what we're trying to say about a show. They're our BFFs for a reason, after all, and in order for them to continue to hold that status in our lives, they need to watch these Netflix shows when we do. Otherwise, why would we possibly keep them around?! Just kidding. Well, sort of. We text them ASAP and ask what episode they're on. It's a whole big, complicated thing since we can't really talk about what we really want to unless we know that they've watched everything that we have. We take spoilers really seriously around here.
6 "Now I Have No Reason To Procrastinate"
Sometimes we want to watch this new Netflix show because it looks good, we love Netflix more than anything, and we want to be cool and know what's going on. There's nothing worse than feeling super out of the pop culture loop and like everyone that we know from our family members to our friends to our coworkers have watched a show that we haven't seen even a single episode of. But other times, we watch this show because we're procrastinating. Sure, we can pretend that this is the case, but it's really not. We're watching these episodes so we don't have to do something important that we don't want to do. It could be related to our jobs or our personal lives, it could be literally anything at all, but for whatever reason, we feel that we need to watch TV instead. This is bad and good -- it's good since we end up watching the show that we wanted to and can feel like part of society, but of course it's bad since we have to still do the thing we didn't want to do when we finish.
5 "Okay I Found Something New"
Then we think that, no, we don't need a life. Netflix is enough for us. It's our whole life, really, and it's time for us to get used to it. We've accepted this. We're okay with it and now we're going to commit to another show. We've finally found another series to binge and we couldn't possibly be happier about it. It could be a show that Netflix created and that we never got around to because we were busy with life. Just kidding. We were busy watching another show on Netflix. Again, this is our entire world and it's what we do all the time. Maybe it's an older show like Buffy The Vampire Slayer and we've decided that now is the time to commit and finally watching this series and know what the world is talking about. Sure, an episode or two into another epic binge-watching session we wonder if we should stretch or go for a walk or something, but soon we're super into the show and we forget all about being active or exercising.
4 "My Perfect Show Isn't Even On Netflix"
When we're done a good binge-watching session, we naturally want to think about what to watch next. Sometimes we find it super fast and can start another session. But other times? Other times, that's just not the case at all. We think that we have totally found the perfect show to watch. We can see it now. We're going to get all cozy once again and have the best time ever. Except… we get some really bad news. It's the worst news ever. It's totally ruining our day. We just found out that our favorite show, the show that was going to save us from total and utter boredom, and the show that was going to be our current binge watch, is not on Netflix. Yes, really. We can barely believe it. And we just can't even handle this. We keep searching. We turn it on and off. We hope that this is not the truth and that our eyes are deceiving us. But sadly, we have to find something else to watch, and that just sucks.
3 "I Still Need More Time Off"
It doesn't matter how much time we just spent watching the latest Netflix series that totally captured our attention or that we've had a nice long weekend full of our favorite activity (i.e. watching Netflix). Nope. The next thought that goes through our minds is that we need more time off… and we need it now. It doesn't matter how much of a break we get from our crazy busy lives and our jobs. We need more and more time. It's just the way that we think. Sure, call us spoiled brats or whatever else you want to call us, but we're not ashamed. We're just accepting of who we are and we think that you should accept us, too. So now we're upset because we want one more weekend day. Not so we can do chores like cooking for the week or laundry or anything boring like that. No. We want another weekend day so we can watch another Netflix show. Not a surprise, right?!
2 "I Need To Netflix And Chill"
When we have just finished a new show, we realize that we are totally missing out on the real Netflix experience: the Netflix and chill. If we are in a relationship, then we immediately text our lovely BFs and try to get them to come over. Sometimes we really do watch Netflix… and sometimes, well, we totally live up to the real meaning of that phrase. Hey, it is a thing for a reason. There is nothing that makes us feel both more lonely and less lonely than sitting by ourselves watching an entire season of a television series. Funny how that works out. It's both comforting… and it also makes us want to have someone special sitting beside us so we can laugh together about the cheesy dialogue or freak out together about plot twists that neither one of us ever predicted. Okay, it's time to Netflix and chill, and we're ready.
1 "I Don't Need A Boyfriend"
If we're single, nothing makes us feel better about that fact than Netflix. It keeps us company when we're home alone, it entertains us, and it always cheers us up. But the thing is that even if we're in a serious and happy relationship, we still think that Netflix ix pretty much our boyfriend… or maybe our boyfriend replacement. Apologizes to our real life BFs. But they get it. They know how amazing Netflix is. They really do. But if we're on our own, then we've decided that Netflix is the only thing that we need to have in our life. We had so much fun watching the television series that we just did and now we're feeling better about our single status. We really and truly are. Okay Netflix, what else do you have for us?! It's time to ignore reality and everything that's going on in our lives and curl up with a new show. Let the binge-watching begin.
