15 Times Perez Hilton Did Celebs Dirty

If there's one thing Perez Hilton knows how to do, it's to stir up a little bit of controversy. Upon inspection of the 'about' page on his website, he is described as “the internet's most notorious gossip columnist,” which is not at all a far-fetched description, considering the reputation he's garnered in the entertainment industry - and the internet. Hilton, born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., began blogging in 2004, with PageSixSixSix, his website's former name. After just a few months of blogging about celebrities, television show The Insider, called his blog "Hollywood's most-hated website,” which lead to a serious boost in web traffic. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Now, with his site PerezHilton.com, Hilton continues to write about celebrity news and gossip, all with his own brand of no holds barred reporting. Of course, this has gotten him into some trouble, with there being multiple court cases against him, seemingly at all times over the last few years. While some can argue that celebrities are just being litigious because they want to protect their image and don't want any unflattering news about them published, there have definitely been times when Hilton crossed the line. From trying to out celebrities, posting inappropriate content, and just plain bullying people, we're taking a look at some of Perez Hilton's shadiest moments.

15 He Called Lily Allen "Washed Up"

In 2008, Perez Hilton took to his site and wrote about Births singer Lily Allen. He said that she was washed up, and that "She's known these days more for being a tragic train wreck than a musician. She knows it too. That must hurt!” As you can imagine, this did not go over well with Allen, and it began an online feud between the two that would last at least two years.

Both Allen and Hilton would take to Twitter in order to send snide remarks and insult each other, with Allen calling Hilton a "little parasite" and a "bitter lonely old queen,” and Hilton retaliating by saying, "If I wanted to be a f***** up Brit, I'd rather be Amy Winehouse.” He also said that the only reason Allen's album sold in the United States is because its price was slashed to be a bargain. Ouch.

14 He Used An Anti-Gay Slur Towards Will.I.Am

One of the band The Black Eyed Peas' most popular song is titled, "Where is the love?", which is ironic because there was no love between these two - at all. In 2009, after the Much Music Video Awards in Toronto, Canada, Hilton tweeted that he'd been assaulted by Will.I.Am, a member of The Black Eyed Peas. Later, in an 11-minute video he posted online, Hilton admitted that he'd repeatedly called Will.I.Am a homophobic slur, which some people argued was what likely provoked the rapper to attack.

However, Will.I.Am also posted a video online, stating that he did not, in fact, assault Hilton, despite his behaviour, and that he only spoke to Hilton to ask that he not post about members of the band anymore. As it turns out, it was Will.I.Am's manager, Liborio 'Polo' Molina, who assaulted Hilton, because of his behaviour towards Will.I.Am.

13 When He And Amanda Bynes Argued On Twitter

In 2013, former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes began posting strange selfies and tweeting some pretty strange stuff. In no time, her erratic online behaviour was the topic of the moment for gossip columns and blogs all over the internet. Not one to miss out on juicy gossip, Perez Hilton wrote about Bynes' questionable mental state, and she was not pleased at all.

This began a feud in which Bynes would call Hilton names on Twitter, and he would in turn, write stories about Bynes on his site. Their feud came to a head when Bynes tweeted at Hilton to “Stop living! Kill yourself!” The worst part is, Hilton claims to have at one time been friends with Bynes. If she was in fact, unstable at the time of their feud, perhaps he should've been more of a friend, and not posted negative things about his alleged pal.

12 He Called Jennifer Aniston Names

Many celebs likely develop a thick skin during the course of their careers because being in the public eye leaves the vulnerable to scrutiny and critique at all times. However, the fact they live their lives as entertainers shouldn't mean that people can behave rudely towards them on purpose. This is why actress Jennifer Aniston decided to confront Hilton about his behaviour, during a chance meeting in 2011.

Aniston spoke about the incident on The Ellen Degeneres Show. According to Aniston, she'd had enough, as Hilton had called her names on his site in the past, referring to her as Maniston, among other rude names. She said that when she finally got her chance, she called Hilton over, said “Hi,” and asked, “Why are you so mean?” Fortunately for her, she said that they had a “lovely” meeting. Glad they could work it out.

11 When He Published Jennifer Lawrence's Nudes

In 2014, hundreds of private celebrity photos were leaked online. As it turns out, someone had hacked into celebs' iCloud accounts and stolen their photos - some of which were nude photographs that were never to be seen by the general public. As if this event wasn't traumatizing enough, of course there was a lot of media coverage about it, which includes a post written by Hilton where he published some of the intimate photos of actress Jennifer Lawrence.

While she initially remained silent about the invasion of her privacy, Lawrence eventually spoke out, in particular about how Hilton handled the story. Her harsh criticism forced Perez to apologize, and he said via Twitter, “Upon further reflection and just sitting with my actions, I don't feel comfortable even keeping the censored photos up. I am removing them.”

10 Lady Gaga Thought He Was Stalking Her

Hilton claimed that he and pop star Lady Gaga actually used to be great friends, until he mentioned her then boyfriend, Taylor Kinney, in an interview. After that, Hilton says that the two had a falling out. In 2013, a fan broke the news to Gaga that Hilton had been seen close to her home. Gaga then tweeted at Hilton, saying, “STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!"

Now if someone takes the time to use all-caps in any sort of message online, you know they're serious. Of course, Hilton denied that he was stalking the singer. Gaga later said that the reason she was so upset was because Hilton had sent her a text message of a photo of herself in a wheelchair, from when she had to have hip surgery, with the caption, “Karma.”

9 When He Tried To Out Jonathan Knight

Perez Hilton is an interesting character, to say the least. On one hand, part of Hilton's career has been as a champion of the LGBT community, writing for numerous LGBT publications and advocating for equal rights. However, Hilton's also gotten into some trouble in the past for his attempts at outing celebrities who he believes to be closeted homosexuals.

On numerous occasions, Hilton used his website to try and out New Kids on the Block member Jonathan Knight. In 2012, Knight took to Twitter to address Hilton on his birthday, saying “all the pictures of me on your website with penis's on them and all the times you harassed and bullied!… Someday I may forgive but I sure won't forget! Oh and Happy Birthday… Hopefully someone gave you the gift of class!”

8 He Posted Inappropriate Photos Of Miley Cyrus When She Was Underaged

The early 2000s brought about an onslaught of celebrity party girls like Paris Hilton and Tara Reid. Many paparazzi photos that were published of them usually involved them getting in and out of cars, often sans undergarments, after a night out of partying at different clubs. In 2010, Hilton tried to allude to then underage singer and actress Miley Cyrus being a party girl herself, linking to a photo of Cyrus seemingly with no underwear on under her skirt.

Of course this caused controversy, particularly because Cyrus was underage at the time. Hilton later apologized in a video, calling the photo fake and saying, "Do you think I am stupid enough to post a real photo of Miley not wearing any underwear… Sure I like to be controversial, but I don't want to go to jail.” That isn't exactly what we'd call a great apology.

    7 He Called Kesha Names

In 2010, Hilton wrote a post on his site claiming that someone leaked a very intimate and nude photos of singer Kesha. Of course, he also posted the image, with a matching caption that read, "Kesha Nude And Covered In C*m!!!! Such a trashy wh*re!!! LOVE it!!!!” He also tweeted about the image, as well as messaged Kesha, saying, "Keep it trashy! xoxo.” While he did allude the images potentially being photoshopped, he also said they “looked real” to him, leading many people to believe that that was the case.

This rightfully upset the singer, and she denied that the photos were posted were of her. She later said, "He stands for everything I hate. Everything I'm against”, when asked about the incident with Hilton. Can you really blamer her for being that harsh?

6 Azealia Banks Had A Twitter Feud With Him

Yet more Twitter drama for Perez Hilton. Rapper Azealia Banks has caused some controversy in the past for her many feuds with various celebrities, so it's no wonder she had one with Perez Hilton as well. Ironically enough, their feud began because Hilton criticized her for penchant for starting feuds with other female artists. Apparently, Hilton thought that Banks' “attention-seeking ways are pathetic and hurtful. You drag while others choose to uplift!” Though, he did also say that he enjoyed some of her music.

Naturally, Banks went on the offensive, using some choice words for Hilton, and tweeting, "Omg u should just kill yourself… Like for real… lol what a messy f**got you are.” Her comments arguably proved Hilton's point, and she received backlash for the homophobic tone of her tweet.

5 Chelsea Handler's Hosting Was Supposedly A Problem

In 2010, comedian and talk show host Chelsea Handler hosted the MTV Video Music Awards. Unsurprisingly, Hilton has something negative to say about her performance. Hilton critiqued Handler's hosting skills by saying that "For the most part, we were bored and just hoping she would shut the hell up so we could hear more music.” He also said that Handler didn't seem to pull of her role of host.

However, Handler has been known as an outspoken person, and she definitely stood her ground against Hilton. She went on Twitter and replied to Hilton's criticisms of her poor performance, tweeting, "Oh, f**k off. I had a blast and the show awesome last night. Bomb? Your life is a bomb.” Whoever said that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all was probably right.

4 He Dragged Jessica Simpson's Family Into Drama

Over the years, social media has been one of the main ways we communicate with our friends and family, as well as the people in your online network. This why people often like to share photos and videos of themselves, as well as their friends and family. Celebrities share that desire as well. However, when singer and actress Jessica Simpson did it, and potentially overdid it as well, things were not good.

Is seems that Hilton was annoyed that Simpson and her clan were doting over sister Ashlee's baby boy, Bronx - as families do when a new baby is born into the family. When Simpson learned of Hilton's complaints, she tweeted, “Does perez hilton… whatever his name really is… have no heart at all?Don't ever attack my family again.Sad to know u hate so deeply.Sad 4 U.”

3 He Attacked Taylor Swift Online

Singer Taylor Swift once said, “There's a line that you cross when you just start to attack everything about a person,” likely in reference to criticism she received from Hilton. Over the years, the singer has come under fire about her dating life and subsequent songs she'd release about her former beaus. Naturally, Hilton capitalized on all of this, often posting stories about Swift's latest love interests, as well as any drama about her now famous “squad” of different celebrities, including singer Selena Gomes, and model and actress Ruby Rose.

Of course, celebrities are subjected to harsh criticisms from time to time, but is seems like Hilton really has it out for Swift, perhaps because amidst all of the drama surrounding her, she maintains a generally wholesome, squeaky-clean image.

2 Lindsay Lohan Fell Victim To His Twitter Comments

Actress Lindsay Lohan has definitely had a rough couple of years, with a string of arrests, stints in rehab, and a general decline of her career trajectory, considering she was once an a-list celebrity, celebrated for her many talents. Most recently, her high-profile relationship came to an end after images of what looked like physical abuse between Lohan and her boyfriend were published online. Despite the fact that she's been having a hard time, Hilton didn't seem to want to let up on his many comments about Lohan.

In 2010, Hilton tried to get the hashtag #pray4lindsay to trend on Twitter. It seems he thought that she was on drugs, and that her tweets at the time seemed like a cry for help. Lohan denied these allegations and said that Hilton “couldn't be more wrong in every single way.”

1 When He Accused Ariana Grande Of Doing Drugs

In 2014, Hilton tweeted at singer Ariana Grande, saying, “Are you okay? I heard someone saw you doing cocaine at a party this weekend. Stay away from drugs Ariana!!!” Finding the accusations to be slanderous and false, Grande's lawyers threatened to take legal action against Hilton for his remarks.

Aside from that one tweet, Hilton also sent tweets to Grande's brother Frankie, saying, “Please make sure Ariana stays away from cocaine.  I'm hearing awful things about what she's been doing!” No one has ever confirmed if this story about Grande's drug use was true, which means that Hilton could have just been using it as a way to cause drama with the singer online - tarnishing her reputation in the process. Not only is libellous behaviour cause for legal action, it's also just generally uncool.
