16 Celeb Pairs You Would NEVER Believe Are The Same Age

Hollywood is a place where youth is prized above all else, so how is it that so many famous people can squeak by looking a lot older than their years? While some actors may not look much older than whatever's written on their birth certificate, they are given roles meant for people much older than them. Take, for example, Jennifer Lawrence, an actress born in 1990 but who plays the role of single mothers, jaded divorcées, and angsty widows with surprising regularity. On the flip side, you have Dakota Fanning who, despite being 23 (and only a couple years younger than J.Law), is hard-pressed to be thought of as more than the precocious child she played at the beginning of her career.

Looking much older or much younger than your years can really freak a lot of people out, and these 16 pairs of celebrities don't disappoint! Men and women alike seem to be sipping from the fountain of youth, while others have used some artificial enhancements that have had the exact opposite effect of what they intended. A few months may separate the celebs on this list, but they still deserve a second look to truly be believed.

16 Emma Stone & Adele - born 1988

Both beautiful, talented, multi-award-winning redheads, it's still pretty shocking to consider that both ladies are 28! While we've always had a good idea of Adele's age, owing to her naming her albums at the times she wrote the songs, she still seems older than her years, thanks to her massive musical skills, her ability to hone in on the most painful of experiences, her dedication to her young son, and, quite frankly, her face! Adele's contouring skills are on point, but the end result has her looking a little older than her actual age. She's still absolutely gorgeous, but her mature style ages her when she's on stage.

Emma Stone, in contrast, born only six months after Adele, gives off a more youthful vibe, because she seems like a bit of a goof! Although she's recently won an Oscar, Emma still seems kind of surprised at how her star has risen so high, especially when you consider that it was less than a decade ago that she appeared in Superbad!

15 Elijah Wood & Chris Evans - born 1981

Elijah Wood will never shake off the part of Frodo from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but it probably wouldn't surprise you to learn that he was a child star throughout the '90s - the guy hasn't aged a bit! Like Emma Stone, Elijah has these gigantic eyes that make him look more like baby than man, so it can throw you for a loop when you hear that he's getting closer to 40 - the dude is 36! His baby face makes it impossible for us to see him past his mid-twenties, even as he's taken more low-profile roles in TV.

On the other hand, we have Chris Evans, who is probably best known for his role as Captain America, a part that requires him to be buffed up and 100% hunk. His physically intensive roles allow him to appear his actual age, while Elijah looks an awful lot younger. In fact, Evans is actually six months younger than the former Hobbit!

14 Emilia Clarke & Lena Dunham - born 1986

One is the Khaleesi and Mother of Dragons, and the other was the lead on a show called Girls, but both were actually born the same year! Emilia Clarke is an interesting actress, in that her face can be both younger and older at the same time. Her stellar bone structure and goofy persona makes her appear younger, but she has also taken on roles that give her the kind of gravitas usually reserved for women much older than her.

Lena Dunham, on the other hand, has amassed plenty of credits as director, creator, and lead on her own HBO show, but her chubby face (and a body that she herself describes as resembling that of a baby) makes her look younger than 30. Add to that the fact that she has played a character known for her coming-of-age mistakes for the past six years, and it can be a little bit odd to know that she's actually a fully-fledged woman.

13 Khloe Kardashian & Avril Lavigne - born 1984

Avril Lavigne has been in the spotlight for a lot longer than any of the Kardashian sisters, but you wouldn't guess it looking at these two photos! Plastic surgery and over-the-top makeup are to blame her for making the youngest Kardashian sister look much older than 32. Everything has been plumped, tucked, and tightened in a way that makes her resemble a Real Housewife decades older than her, instead the fan favourite K-sister!

Avril, on the other hand, seems to be drinking from the fountain of youth, because she could easily pass for a woman in her early twenties. Her style has always been one of a mall-punk, even though she's tried to grow up a bit the past few years, but her aesthetic has definitely helped her retain some youthfulness. In this photo, with minimal makeup, lush hair, and glowing skin, Avril looks fresh-faced, while Khloe just looks washed up.

12 Jon Hamm & Jared Leto - born 1971

Jared Leto has been (half-jokingly) considered to be a vampire, because the dude has barely changed since his 1994 run as Jordan Catalano on My So-Called Life! His incredibly youthful appearance is chalked up to yoga, meditation, and a vegan diet, so if anyone else is looking for the secret to looking young, you probably need to know that it's an awful lot of hard work! But hey, the guy looks great, and can still make the ladies swoon!

Another actor known for making women weak in the knees is Jon Hamm, although it's hard to believe that he and Jared are the same age! Thanks to his role as Don Draper in Mad Men, Jon earned an air of sophistication and worldliness that makes him seem a bit older than his years. That full salt-and-pepper beard is also to blame, but if we're being honest, we know that most of us would still call him “daddy”.

11 Emma Watson & Iggy Azalea - born 1990

We had no idea that Beauty and the Beast star Emma Watson and rapper Iggy Azalea were the same age until we started research for this article! And even though we have the birth dates right in front of us, we're still not sure if we can believe it! Maybe it's because we've associated Emma as Hermione Granger - and thus, a child - for as long as we've known her, while Iggy is a young woman who is getting involved in plastic surgery while rapping about her body, and that's what causes the disconnect.

While Iggy looks older than 26, owing to her recent nose job, heavy makeup, and tangled personal life and professional feuds, Emma seems like far more poised, and, while more mature, still younger than the aged Iggy. Letting her freckles shine through helps Emma's cause, and while she has become a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, her wide eyes and child star background makes us want to hold her a little closer.

10 Jim Parsons & Andrew Lincoln - born 1973

This one might throw you for a moment! Knowing that Jim Parsons, who plays genius man-child Sheldon Cooper of The Big Bang Theory, and Andrew Lincoln, who plays grizzled Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead are the same age is the kind of stuff that will have you questioning how this whole ageing thing actually works! Both men are in their mid-40s, but while Jim plays a character who is as known for his boyish hair and bright T-shirts as he is for his obnoxious remarks, Andrew plays a character who has seen a lot of sh*t - and it shows. The beard that Andrew has had to grow on the show makes him look much older than 44, although we doubt that a beard would have the same effect on Jim - if he could even grow one, that is! Jim's youthful looks make his age impossible to comprehend, while Andrew simply appears to have lived a hard life (and Rick Grimes certainly has). Maybe, once Walking Dead eventually winds down, Jim can pass some skincare tips over to Andrew!

9 Selena Gomez & Kate Upton - born 1992

Kate Upton has always shocked us with her actual age versus how she looks. Maybe it's because she got started in Hollywood as a sex symbol from the beginning of her career, or maybe it's because she has the kind of body that is usually only reserved for comic book vixens, but it seems crazy to know that she's only a youthful 24 - she looks much older!

On the other side of the coin, we have Selena Gomez. Like some other child stars on this list, she seems locked in a state of perpetual youth, and we kind of can't believe that she's 24, since she looks closer to being a teenager. Selena seems to know how to work her youth, though, even though her personal life has been more than a little messy. After finishing up with Disney, she regularly took on the role of the teenager in films, and we can't seem to separate her from her much-younger characters!

8 Matt Damon & Nick Offerman - born 1970

The beard strikes again! Even if a guy has little to no grey on the top of his head, you can bet that, as he ages, his beard might be looking a little more salt-and-pepper than the rest of him! Matt Damon has been in Hollywood for quite some time, and despite having four daughters, the dude seems to have barely aged! His wide smile has a talent for making the years disappear even as it makes his eyes crinkle at the corners.

Matt's youthful looks make it that much more surprising that he and Nick Offerman share the same year of birth! Nick's facial hair makes him look much older than 46, and he has a bit of a history of playing crotchety men (just look at his most famous role on Parks and Recreation). A jack of all trades who is also a screenwriter, director, producer, musician, comedian, and carpenter - as well as an actor - it's not that surprising to see all that work take its toll on his face!

7 Lindsay Lohan & Dianna Agron - born 1986

An unfortunate result of hard living is how it ages you beyond your years, and no one knows that quite as well as Lindsay Lohan. Thanks to her troubled young adulthood that saw multiple arrests, too much tanning, drinking, partying, and drug use, Lindsay has aged beyond her 30 years and looks like a woman much, much older. (To be fair, the plumped-up lips, weathered skin, and bleached hair don't help matters.)

Seeing Lindsay with a face much older than that of 30 just heightens the contrast between her and Dianna Agron, who is actually a month older than her! Thanks to her recurring role on Glee, we consider Dianna to be not much older than her high school counterpart, and her face certainly doesn't show many years beyond that of a woman just turned 20! While she's also had a spot of plastic surgery, to fix a deviated septum, her face is far from plastic, making her look fresh, youthful, and gorgeous.

6 Andrew Garfield & Chris Hemsworth - born 1983

The fact that Andrew Garfield played a high school student in The Amazing Spider-Man - even though the guy is in his mid-thirties - doesn't seem that far-fetched when you consider how young the actor looks! With his clean-shaven face, high levels of energy, and “aw, shucks” attitude, Andrew looks more like a kid than a grown-up (albeit a cute kid).

While Andrew was busy playing a comic book superhero, Chris Hemsworth was playing a god - and looking like 100% man while doing it! Andrew's narrow frame makes himself look more gangly and awkward than the leading man slice of beefcake that is Chris. With his rippling muscles and chiseled features, Chris looks his age or even a couple years older, while Andrew appears much younger than the date on his birth certificate. Add to the fact that Chris is a father of three cuties who he dotes on regularly, and the differences between the two are pretty obvious.

5 Kylie Jenner & Maisie Williams - born 1997

Is there really any surprise that another Kardashian-Jenner has appeared on this list of celebrities you wouldn't believe are the same age? While Kylie Jenner is enjoying her last year as a teenager, the work she's had done to her face, the way she dresses, and the amount of makeup she slaps on her face makes her look much, much older. While her inflated lips photograph well, one look at her speaking with those things, and you can see that Kylie looks like a nipped-and-tucked divorcée twenty years her senior!

Maisie Williams, on the other hand, looks like a little cutie, even though she's actually a few months OLDER than Kylie! Her minimal makeup, natural eyebrows, and round face give her a youthful, cherubic look that stands in stark contrast to the rough life her character, Arya Stark, has endured on Game of Thrones. Both young women are fashion-forward in their own rights, but while Maisie dresses her age with a funky twist, Kylie tends to emulate her much older sisters for a look that is definitely not age-appropriate.

4 Gwen Stefani & Cate Blanchett - born 1969

We don't know what it is that Gwen Stefani has been using for the past couple of decades, but the woman seems to be ageing in reverse! She's been in the spotlight since she was a teenager in the late '80s and early '90s, and Gwen's workload hasn't lightened up - and neither have her personal problems. Despite being burned by ex Gavin Rossdale, Gwen still looks incredible, and whether it's due to great skin, lots of water, good makeup, lighting, or whatever, it's pretty impressive considering she's edging towards 50!

Cate Blanchett is another Hollywood heavyweight who looks incredible, regardless of her age, thanks to her clear, porcelain skin. However, due to her style and makeup regime, she looks closer to her age than the eternally youthful Gwen,. While Gwen gets funky with makeup and wardrobe, Cate goes for more classic looks, even as she veers into avant-garde territory. One thing is for sure though: both women look incredible!

3 Alexis Bledel & Uzo Aduba - born 1981

Well, Alexis Bledel was in a show called Gilmore Girls, so we can't really be faulted for still thinking that the woman is in her early twenties! In fact, though, Alexis is thirty-freaking-five! Little Rory Gilmore is all grown up, and even has a son now! Another actor who can blame their youthful good looks on their wide eyes, Alexis doesn't seem to have aged a day since the series finished back in 2007. With her slim figure, girlish wardrobe choices, and soft voice, Alexis is someone who probably gets carded more times than she can count.

Uzo Aduba, on the other hand, looks closer to her mid-thirties than Alexis does, and that's probably due in part to the character she plays on Orange is the New Black. As Crazy Eyes, Uzo works with almost no makeup, bad hair, and an unflattering beige uniform. In real life, we know she's much, much prettier than her character, but she still doesn't have that dewy, baby-faced glow of Alexis.

2 Teresa Giudice & Gabrielle Union - born 1972

The phrase is that “black don't crack”, and no celebrity exemplifies this more than Gabrielle Union. She played a teenage cheerleader in Bring It On back in 2000, but, 17 years later, Gabrielle could easily slip right back into that cheer uniform and no one would bat an eye! The woman looks absolutely incredible, and credits her husband, Dwayne Wade, for making her feel younger than her years (Wade is actually 10 years her junior).

Real Housewife Teresa Giudice, on the other hand, looks much older than she is, and it's probably due to a lot of factors. Most recently, she finished a stint in prison for fraud, and saw her husband go in shortly afterwards, but she's also fallen victim to bad plastic surgery, which has pulled her face in such a way that it makes her look unnatural - and a lot older than 44. Hopefully, some of the stress in her life will ease up, and she can find happiness with her daughters again, which will undoubtedly bring back a glow to her appearance.

1 Michael Cera & Hafthór Júlíus Björnsson - born 1988

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold up. Are we being serious? Could Michael Cera, the actor best known for his high school roles in movies like Superbad, Juno, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is actually the same age as the bulked up dude who plays The Mountain on Game of Thrones? You had better believe it!

While we mostly only see Hafthór Júlíus Björnsson covered in full body armour since his death and subsequent resurrection, we know that this hulking man beast is as far from Michael Cera as you can get. While Michael has a nerdy, boyish charm that he skewered in This Is The End playing a cocaine-obsessed man-wh*re, his appearance remains that of a guy permanently stuck in high school, with his soft, high voice, gangly frame, and large brown eyes. The dude doesn't look like he could grow facial hair without a hefty dose of Rogaine! Hafthór, on the other hand, is all man, and standing at 6”7, you can imagine that the actor often gets mistaken for a man twice his age!
