16 One-Time Random Virals Who Are Now Doing The Most
What would the world be without the internet? There would be no online shopping, no video calls and no viral superstars. We find ourselves in a time where people can become famous by filming home videos and submitting them for the world to see. Celebrity status is no longer just for musicians and actors. As long as it's captivating, funny or entertaining we will consume and love it. Over the past few years there have been hundreds of stars who we would love to have on our list, but sadly there will never be one long enough. Even as you're presently reading this, someone is filming something that will later have millions of views and capture many, many fans.
We have gone through all these videos and pictures to bring you our most memorable viral stars. We played a little catch up to see where they are now and how their internet fame changed them. We were much too happy to look back on some that happened more than a decade ago and see how well the video aged… they all passed. From kids to moms to teenagers acting silly, we have entries that will suit everyone. If you've seen them, then get ready to be reminded of the fun, and if you haven't… you're welcome!
16 'Hide Yo Kids, Hide Yo Wife' - Antoine Dodson
Just an innocent bystander who was telling the news reporters all about an intruder who had broken into a neighbours house… that was until The Gregory Brothers got their hands on the interview and remixed and auto-tuned it to become "The Bed Intruder Song". Dodson went on to make Camp TV and red carpet appearances with his straightened hair and high heels. So, you can imagine our shock when we find out that he has claimed he is not longer gay and is now married with a child and is a Hebrew Israelite. Dodson has even gone as far as to make some damming comments that upset the LGBT community about if his son turns out to be gay. That along with a string of minor arrests have ensured he won't be giving any more news reports.
15 Sophia Grace & Rosie's "Superbass"
We all remember when Sophia Grace and Rosie shot to fame after posting a video of Sophia singing "Superbass" and Rosie dancing along. The two were immediately picked up by the Ellen Degeneres show and became regular guests and hosts for red carpet events. They performed for Nicki Minaj herself and got to meet so many celebrities on Ellen's behalf. The two always coordinated and sang and danced together making them the cutest! Flash forward a few years and the duo are no longer together. Sophia has launched her own solo singing career that sees her releasing an album this year and Rosie is in performing arts school. The two girls have their own YouTube channels and keep the world up to date with vlogs and covers. It sounds like these girls have very bright futures… and just FYI, they're the same age as "Cash Me Outside" girl… just let that sink in…
14 "Friday" - Rebecca Black
This song was probably one of the most annoying songs to ever become popular. After a few listens, we all had Friday running around in our head, and every Friday we would tease everyone with the cringe-worthy tune. After her mother paid $4,000 for the song to be written and a video shoot, Rebecca Black shot to fame overnight. A comedy page picked up the video for the terrible lyrics and she watched the views grow and grow. She went on to star in Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" as a party host and was the topic of a lot of comedian's jokes. Despite the tremendous backlash and bullying she received, Black says that she doesn't regret the song as it got her to where she is today… and where is that? Well, she is now a YouTuber posting on lifestyle and music regularly. She has made covers and has recently released her own original music. There is even a "Friday" follow-up… "Saturday"… See if you can find that one!
13 "Leave Britney Alone!" - Chris Crocker
To say that you could watch this one without laughing till your sides hurt is lying. When a young blonde man is tearfully demanding that you "leave Britney alone!", you cant help but crack a smile. Chris was defending Britney after a questionable performance. In the video, the young man snidely slams gossip columns and writers for the horrible things they said about Miss Spears. After his video gained a lot of popularity Crocker was interviewed on TV shows and was even parodied by Seth Green. Is he still in Britney's corner today? Well, this Tennessee boy regularly posts videos of himself on social media in funny monologues as either male or female. He has still managed to make us laugh after all these years. He says that his gender is not male or female but a mix of both. He has also dabbled in pornographic films with his then-boyfriend in 2012, which begs us to ask, What would Britney say?
12 David After The Dentist
Okay, we admit, no one likes going to the dentist… but with results like these, we could suffer one seating. After going for a visit to the dentist and having taken some medication, David was on the way home with his Dad when he began ranting on about existential questions. Our favorite had to be, "Is this real life?" We were in stitches all the way through and still laugh at it to this day. David's father then sold merchandise after his son becoming famous and did numerous TV interviews with him. After the parodies died down, there is not a whole lot more about the now-teenager, apart from some catch up interviews with his dad from time to time. They say that the payoff he received for the video went towards his and his brother's education. Not a bad way to afford private school if you ask us!
11 "Charlie Bit My Finger!"
This has to be one of the cutest videos that we love to watch again and again. It was one of the world's most viewed videos online at one point. Originally, the boys' father was only putting the video online for family members to view and he had planned to then delete it after everyone saw it. He didn't think that it would have ever had the impact that it did. Because of the video clip where Charlie unapologetically bit his brother's finger, the family have been all around the world to film adverts and make appearances. The boys lead a very normal life nowadays and the estimated million that the video has made them has gone into paying for their private education. Every couple of years or so, they do an anniversary video where they recreate the video, but nothing matches up to a surprised brother being bitten by baby Charlie.
10 Chewbacca Mom - Candace Payne
When we first started watching the video of a Mom showing us what she picked up at Kohl's, we never expected that she was going to break out in total hysterics. We see a mom who just lose it at the newly purchased Chewbacca mask when it started moving and making noise. The utter happiness and joy this woman received from the video is probably one of the best things about it. She is so adamant that even-though the kids will play with the toy… it's still hers! She has gained so much notoriety after posting this in 2016. She has appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden and got to meet Star Wars director JJ Abrams. Along with getting many generous gifts Candace has also been immortalized forever. Hasbro created a 'Chewbacca Mom' action figure with built in phrases and removable mask. If you're in need of some giggles, just re-watch!
9 Homeless Man With A Golden Voice - Ted Williams
This one got us right in the feels. After spotting a homeless man who boasts a golden voice in exchange for money, Doral Chenoweth puts him to work and records the man and talks a little to him. When he does his radio voice, it is the best, most shocking thing you can see! He is extremely talented at what he does and is worth every dime. We found out his problems with addiction, which led to his homelessness afterwards. Right after being discovered in 2011, the star shot to the top and had book deals and voice-over deals coming from every direction. Ted Williams discovered the new found fame hard and suffered with depression. However, with his second wind, Williams is determined to make it work. He now works with the homeless and he still does some voice-over work too. He is a great example of how fame doesn't always equal happiness.
8 Gavin - The Most Famous Meme Kid
There is not a single person who can claim not to have seen or used one of this kid's memes. They are so perfect at describing what we are feeling at certain moments and are just hilarious. SO who is behind it? Well, it would seem that the young boy's Uncle Nick found that Gavin was quite the hilarious toddler and started posting mini-videos on vine when it was in service. The vines became popular with regular users and audiences alike. If you look up a compilation video of all his vines, you would be on the floor in hysterics. Although Vines is no longer around there is still a Gavin meme for every occasion. His uncle hopes that one day Gavin will like his stardom rather than resent it… FYI-his uncle is just as cute as he is!
7 "Chocolate Rain" - Tay Zonday
This was probably the weirdest song to ever be released on YouTube that has been so catchy and popular. "Chocolate Rain" is by no means a masterpiece. You can tell it's homemade, but its so wild that we kind of love it. Some seem to think that it's popular because it is so hypnotizing to the listeners. The repeated piano and drum riff continue throughout the sound with no changes to it. Many have tried to decipher what exactly the song is about, but Zonday himself has said it has racial themes throughout. Since 2007, Tay has been making appearances, staring in commercials and starring in TV shows as a voice actor. Like a lot of other viral sensations, he has been parodied. He also sometimes does musical covers with his ultra low voice, but we bet nothing will beat "Chocolate Rain".
6 "I Like Turtles" - Jonathan Ware
This may very well have been the first popular fail video to grace our lives. One poor reporter found a young man who she wanted to interview about the state fair, but he had other ideas. All 'Zombie Boy' Jonathan Ware wanted to do was profess his love for turtles, which had us doubled over in laughter, as the reporter has no idea what kind of response to have. The clip has had 55 million views on YouTube sine 2007 and is still funny to this day. Jonathan hasn't strayed from from his viral roots. He now has his own channel where people watch him play video games… teenage dream, right? There is a little nod to his famous line as he named his channel turtle time. Good to see the zombie boy is now a man who still loves turtles… and video games too.
5 "Damn Daniel!" - John & Daniel
These guys just made us plain old laugh with their little videos of Daniel's outfits. It's the simple videos that get us! You see 14-year-old Daniel being hailed by his classmate Josh for a few seconds. The phrase "Damn Daniel" then began to become popular as a way of complimenting someone on what they were wearing after this. The boys' video has been viewed over 45 million times online and the catch phrase has been used by celebs too. The boys were invited onto The Ellen Show where they both received gifts from her. Daniel, upon receiving a lifetime supply of Vans, turned around and donated them to a hospital. Damn Daniel, for real. The boys still remain level headed and are still in high school and studying. They still pursue their hobbies and consider themselves lucky to have their parents to help guide them. Well, we love these boys and their outfits and shoe-choice!
4 'Starwars Kid' - Ghyslain Raza
This is one of the videos that has more to it than it seems. At first, we all think that this kid has set up a camera and is flaunting his Star Wars moves to show to friends. When in reality, he did this in privacy and his schoolmates leaked it. When I last checked, it was at 33 million views and has been featured in popular culture since it's release in 2003. It gives everyone a laugh, but in reality the man behind it suffered at the hands of the ridicule he received from it. Canadian student, Ghyslain Raza suffered from depression as a result of the bullying from the video. As sad as that is, it would seem as though he is using his experience to help others. After dropping out of college for a while, he is now a lawyer and inspiring others with his overcoming story.
3 'The Power of Makeup' - Nikkie De Jager
If you are like us, then you don't need any introduction to this woman. We are in love with Nikkietutorials and what she does with her face and make-up! She really found fame when she made a video showing what make-up can do to a face by covering half her face in make-up and leaving the rest bare. She inspired many other beauty bloggers to do the same. Nikkie wanted to show how fun make-up is and how it shouldn't be shamed. The video has gained millions of views and gave Nikkie so many more fans. Since then, she has been growing and developing her strengths and skills. She collaborates with other YouTubers and make-up companies and makes us all envious of her lifestyle. Nikkie is a globetrotting make-up sensation who we can relate to everyday. If she's not on you YouTube list, get on it and subscribe!
2 Jeremy Meeks' Hot Mugshot
You definitely can't say that many people have been to jail and then became an absolutely viral topic of discussion due to your mugshot. Jeremy Meeks, labelled as the 'world's hottest felon', became extremely popular since many people found his mugshot extremely attractive. I mean just look at those features-toned and defined cheek bones, jawline, perfect ears, nose, lips, and especially those piercing light-blue eyes. He was incarcerated for gang-related crimes and grand theft, but once he was released he became a professional model. Due to his blossoming modeling career, he now lives in a luxury mansion and drives and exotic sports car. People are still outraged because he's spent a significant amount of time in jail during his lifetime and has been charged with gun possession while resisting arrest. Lately, the tabloids are covering Meeks for his recent PDA shots with TopShop's heiress, Chloe Green. Yup, he cheated on his wife who he has kids with…
1 "Cash Me Outside" Girl - Danielle Bregoli
If you don't know our first entry on the list then you must have been living under a rock somewhere because this girl made worldwide news! As a guest invited onto Dr.Phil for being a disobedient kid, Danielle made a huge impressions on audience members. She coined the phrase "Cash me outside how bow dah?!" Since her outburst on national TV, Danielle has been charging thousands of dollars for appearances and has even gotten herself banned from an airline for fighting. She did appear in a music video, but it was pulled after her on-flight fight with another passenger. She went back onto Dr.Phil to talk about her new found fame and was as rude as ever… but this time, they had no audience members for her to attack. Some even say that the 14-year-old is set to earn her first million by the end of 2017 and all because she had an attitude with her mom…
