16 Surprising Celebs Who Went To School Together
If you thought your graduating class was cool, then you probably have never heard of these former celebrity classmates. These stars used to go to school with each other back in the day and some of them are unlikely pairings for sure. From prominent rappers to silver screen actresses rubbing shoulders, it's definitely surprising which stars went to school together. Even better, it turns out some of these famous faces used to be friends before they became famous, which totally makes these background stories even cooler. If anything is clear, it's that these high schools must have been doing something right to have such famous alumni. In some cases, the high school had more than two future celebs roaming their halls at once. Perhaps the new generation of starlets will come from one of these high schools, carrying on the tradition of famous alumni. Read on to find out some super surprising celebs who went to school together!
16 Adele, Jessie J, and Leona Lewis
Clearly this school knows how to grow successful musicians. Songstresses Jessie J, Adele, and Leona Lewis all attended the BRIT School in Croydon. Talk about a triple threat! Although they did not necessarily take the same classes, the women have acknowledged that they remember each other from back in the day. In fact, Jessie J said she and Adele used to jam during lunch- that is one performance we wish we could have seen. Jessie J has said, “I knew Adele; we were in the same year. We used to hang out at lunchtimes and have a little jam. We would sing songs we had written or perform whatever we were working on. When Adele started to take off (BRIT old girl Amy Winehouse was already huge by then), it was amazing to have the opportunity to watch and learn.” Can you imagine going to school with Adele?! Pretty awesome.
15 Kate Hudson And Cash Warren
While not much is known about their friendship (or lack thereof), Kate Hudson and Cash Warren attended Crossroads High School in Santa Monica at the exact same time. Kate, who is the daughter of Goldie Hawn, has made a name for herself as a successful actress, starring in a number of comedies and dramas throughout the years. Cash also got into the movie business but as a producer and has produced several movies and T.V. shows throughout the years. Talk about a school filled with some good talent! He has also been in the news for his publicized relationship and marriage to actress Jessica Alba, and the adorable couple has two equally adorable daughters. We would love to know if Cash ever sets his young children up on play dates with Kate's sons because that would be too cute for words! As in, we are absolutely dying to know.
14 Tupac Shakur And Jada Pinkett Smith
Tupac Shakur, also known by the stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, was one of the most prominent rappers in the 90s. Unfortunately, his life was cut short thanks to a drive-by shooting turned fatal in 1996, but his talented music lives on today. One thing that most people do not know about the rapper is that he went to the same high school as actress Jada Pinkett Smith. Both the rapper and actress were students at Baltimore School for the Arts in Maryland. Even more, the two were actually friends! How cool is that?! They created a lip-syncing video at King's Dominion amusement park to Will Smith's (Jada's future husband) song “Parents Just Don't Understand.” We think that is really awesome and love hearing things about celebrities that we just had no clue about. This is definitely one of the best celeb background stories ever! We are kind of jealous she got to know 2Pac while his greatness was still around.
13 Eddie Redmayne And Prince William
We suppose it is not surprising that two super dapper lads attended the same school. But this background story is even cooler since one of these guys is literally royalty and the other is an Oscar-winning actor! Can you imagine that these two guys were in the same school! Do you think Eddie knew he was in the presence of greatness (literally). Eddie Redmayne and Prince William both attended Eton, a prestigious boarding school in England… at the same time. Yes, really! They most likely didn't know what would happen to both of them in the future, which makes the story, even more, fun and even more charming. Prince William is, of course, one day going to become King and has an adorable family with his wife, Kate Middleton. Eddie has starred in a handful of highly successful films and would win an Oscar, making him one of Hollywood's most sought after young actors. It's clear which boarding school produces the best British men.
12 Florence Welsh And Jessie Ware
Florence Welsh is the talented singer behind Florence And The Machine, and Jessie Ware is also a successful singer-songwriter. But these two ladies have more in common than just their musical abilities. They actually attended school together. Both women studied at Alleyn's School, an independent, co-educational day school located in England. The school, which is known for its support of the arts, has a handful of famous alumni, including the likes of Jude Law. All these awesome famous British people together in one place, we can't handle how posh that is! Perhaps this is the school to send your children if you want them to excel in the arts and music and film industries. Clearly they are doing something right to produce such successful individuals. It's crazy to imagine Florence and Jessie jamming in the cafeteria, but that was probably what it was like to attend school with these talented women.
11 Lauryn Hill And Zach Braff
It might be a bit hard to believe but Lauryn Hill and Zach Braff not only went to school together, but they were actually friends. The two have had such different career paths that it's hard to imagine them sitting in the same classroom, let alone friend circle. Lauryn Hill is a successful singer-songwriter whereas Zach is an actor and filmmaker most well- known for his role on Scrubs. Oh, and for Garden State of course! They both attended Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey. The celebrities have acknowledged that they knew each other in high school. Zach revealed that they were so close he actually invited her to his bar mitzvah. However, he later went on the Howard Stern Show and said that the Lauryn he used to know is a lot different from who she is today. We're not sure if that's supposed to be shade or not, but we'd love to know why these two starlets don't seem as close anymore.
10 Neil Patrick Harris And Freddie Prinze Jr.
It's more than possible that Neil Patrick Harris and Freddie Prinze Jr. saw each other in the hallways at high school, as they only graduated La Cueva High School New Mexico three years apart. Freddie was a total teen heartthrob back in the 90s, and his career would have been about to take off during his later years of high school. NPH started off as a child actor, but he has kept with the business and been very successful throughout the years. These are two of our favorite male actors, so we'd love to know if they were friends or not back when they were teens. Perhaps their paths even cross nowadays, as both men are the fathers to young children. Freddie is married to Sarah Michelle Gellar (aka BUFFY), and they have a young son and daughter. NPH is married to David Burtka, and they share a set of adorable twins. These two need to have play dates for their kids and then post to Instagram about it.
9 Bradley Cooper And Brian Klugman
When Bradley Cooper starred in and Brian Klugman directed The Words, it was not actually the first time the pair met. The two men used to attend school together at the Germantown Academy in Pennsylvania. Their passion for acting and the arts drew them together when they were young, and brought them back together when they collaborated on The Words. That is one special bromance. Both men seem to be pretty good friends off-screen and have often been captured in photographs with each other at events. So cool that they are still friends! It must be crazy having a history that goes back as far as these two's does, but we're sure it makes for interesting stories. We hope these guys get together every once in a while to reminisce about the good old days… or at least to complain about how horrible high school was. Yeah, the latter seems to make more sense!
8 Lady Gaga And Nicky Hilton
It doesn't get any stranger than imagining Nicky and Paris Hilton being friends with Lady Gaga. Paris (and to a lesser extent her sister, Nicky) is known for being a socialite who got her fame because of her family's wealth. A tape scandal, reality TV show, and a bunch of perfume and branded merchandise made Paris Hilton into the household name she is today. Lady Gaga, on the other hand, has had a very different career. She founded her music career on explicit lyrics and dancing, outrageous costumes, and wild behavior- and we love her for it. But all three ladies started out the same way as students at Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York City, a private, all-girls Catholic School. Gaga and Nicky had classes together, but Gaga has said she never saw much of Paris since she was older. Of rubbing elbows with the Hiltons, Gaga has said, “They're very pretty and very clean. Very, very clean. You know, I never saw Paris, she was older than me, and it's funny that the press always writes that I went to school with the Hilton sisters, but I actually only went with Nicky.”
7 Jack Antonoff And Scarlett Johansson
Not only were these celebrities former classmates, they were also lovers for a hot minute! Jack Antonoff is a musician and has been the lead singer of Bleachers and the lead guitarist of Fun. Scarlett, on the other hand, has made her mark in the acting world. But, back in the day, these two studied at the Professional Children's School in New York City and also had a brief romance. According to some rumors swirling around, the two were involved when Scarlett was just 17, which would've been around the time her career really started taking off. Antonoff has supposedly written some songs about his former lover, though he has since been linked to other actresses, including Lena Dunham. We hope these former classmates reveal the details on their fleeting love affair or clear up the rumors once and for all.
6 Jay Z, Notorious B.I.G., And Busta Rhymes
It is definitely quite the coincidence that three famous rappers went to the same school at the same time. Jay-Z , Notorious B.I.G, and Busta Rhymes all attended the George Westinghouse Vocational and Technical High School, located in Brooklyn, New York. It is clear this school is doing something right to have produced such undeniable talent. Biggie, who was sadly killed in a shooting in 1997 as part of the East vs. West Coast rap wars, was a massive figure in the 90s rap scene, and his influence is still felt today. Likewise, both Jay-Z and Busta Rhymes were prominent in this decade, and both are still making music today. It sure would have been exciting to roam the halls with these future legends! We are pretty jealous of their former classmates who got to experience that (even though they probably did not know how famous these people would become).
5 Jennifer Aniston And Chaz Bono
Yup, these two were former classmates! Totally awesome. During their time at new York City's High School of Performing Arts, both Jennifer Aniston and Chaz Bono (who was known as Chastity Bono at the time) were in the same class. Both celebrities have famous parents: Jennifer is the daughter of Nancy Dow and John Aniston, and Chaz is the son of the famous Sonny and Cher. They might have been drawn together because they have that famous family stuff in common because Jennifer and Chaz have said they hung out back in the day. In an interview with Allure magazine, Jennifer Aniston said, “Every day a group of us would go to Chaz's house after school… I have not spoken to him in a while.” Photos have even surfaced showing the two of them in high school, proving they have a history that goes way, way back. We bet they used to have a lot of fun!
4 Cameron Diaz And Snoop Dogg
Yup, you read that correctly. Definitely another unlikely pairing! It turns out that Cameron Diaz and Snoop Dogg also went to high school together. They both attended Long Beach Polytechnic High school in California and, back then, Snoop Dogg would have been known as Calvin Broadus. The blonde actress is known for her starring roles in dozens of comedy movies, whereas the rapper has been making music since the 90s. Cameron has spoken about what it was like to attend the same school as the famous musician. She has commented, “We went to high school together. He was a year older than me… I remember him, he was very tall and skinny. He wore lots of ponytails.” It does not seem like these two were very close back in the day, but that would sure be one exciting high school reunion if these two were your former classmates.
3 Rachael Leigh Cook And Josh Hartnett
This must be a sign of a good arts program. Actors Rachael Leigh Cook and Josh Hartnett both attended Minneapolis South High School when they were teenagers. They must have been friends because the two later starred in the movie Blow Dry together in 2001. From the looks of things, they have remained friendly during the years, sometimes posing for photos during events. We just love seeing old school celeb friendships. Rachael's career started in the 90s, when she won the lead role in the awesome teen comedy film She's All That. She then starred in Josie and the Pussycats in 2001 and has since done a lot of work in voice acting. Hartnett also got his start in the 90's, gaining notoriety for his role in the crime drama show Cracker. He later moved on to the silver screen and acted in movies including Pearl Harbor and The Virgin Suicides.
2 Robert Pattinson And Tom Sturridge
Before he was steaming up the big screen as Edward Cullen, Robert Pattinson was rubbing elbows with fellow actor Tom Sturridge. The two attended The Harrodian School in London as teens. Tom has been in films like Being Julia and has also starred on Broadway, while Edward is best known for his role in the Twilight saga and other films, including Water for Elephants and Remember Me. Rumor has it that the two guys were actually good friends during their time. And that makes sense since they are even better friends these days. Sources have even said that Robert Pattinson and his fiancée, FKA Twigs, were set up by Tom and his former fiancée, Sienna Miller. Wow that is so cool! Classmates and matchmakers. It must be fun (and probably intimidating) to go on double dates with so much star power at one dinner table. We know we would not be able to handle it.
1 Naomi Watts And Nicole Kidman
These Aussie beauties have a lot more in common than their Australian background and box office success. Turns out, Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts went to the same high school. Both actresses were students at North Sydney Girls' High School. They were good friends at the time, and have also remained close friends up until now. The two have also acted alongside each other. Nicole and Naomi starred in Home and Away in 1991, alongside Thandie Newton. Naomi has starred in a variety of films over the years and also has two young sons. Nicole has as well starred in a multitude of movies, like Moulin Rouge and Cold Mountain. She has four children -- two adult children she adopted with Tom Cruise, and two biological children with husband Keith Urban. We love that these two women have stayed close through the years despite having overwhelming careers and personal lives. True friendships can stand the test of time!
