7 Reasons You Love Justin Bieber And 7 Reasons You Don't
Justin Bieber: two words that conjure up either feelings of excitement or dread. Some people really love Justin Bieber and admire the courage it took for him to “comeback” from his difficult personal and professional disasters. Others say he is a spoiled child star who can't handle fame and the spotlight. His problems, personal and professional, are due to the fact that he has yet to grow up and face the music, so to speak. They say that though he has money and power, he is not exonerated any more than any of us would be if we made the kind of mistakes he makes. Then there are his relationship mistakes and that classic and infamous Instagram fight with Selena Gomez. Some were on his side, some thought his response was a little extreme. Love him or not, you have to admit, Justin Bieber knows how to make the headlines for better or worse. So what do we think about this celebrity? Does he deserve the bad rap some people are trying to pin on him, or does he deserve a break from the world, even those that don't particularly like this music? After all, you can separate the person from the music, right? Perhaps the truth of who he is lies somewhere in between. Regardless, we all are entitled to our own personal opinion of Justin Bieber. On that note, here are 7 reasons we love Justin Bieber and 7 we don't.
14 He's Not Afraid To Show His True Feelings
Most of us remember that key moment in 2015 when Justin Bieber performed his hit song "What Do You Mean?" at the VMA Awards. He was blown away by the response to his performance-applause and a standing ovation. What did The Biebs do? He started to cry and got super emotional. Afterwards on a talk show, he spoke how overwhelmed he was that his fans and the public in general accepted him and took him back. He wanted so badly to make everyone happy and be a success again, and to have it happen was an incredible experience and one in which he was extremely grateful for. Ahh sweet. He has also spoken openly about his anxiety, his fears of performing in public, and the mistakes he has made that has made him a stronger person today. He also has apologized when he has disappointed fans and let them know he is learning as he goes and thanking them for their patience
13 He Admits When He's Wrong In Relationships
Justin often talks about the regrets he has about his romantic relationships and the hurt he caused the love of his life whom we all know. He has spoken frankly about his mistakes and is happy he has learned from them. He says she will always be the love of his life, but realizes that they grew apart and it was best for both of them to break up. He also spoke of how he wished her nothing but the best. He has also made mistakes with other relationships and infidelities. Again, he took full blame and is learning how to be accountable and honest so he can become stronger. He credits his mother for being the rock in his life and the one who is his best sounding board when he has problems. He tells how she has always been in his corner, loving and supporting him. He had a brief stint when he was getting into trouble with the law and he distanced himself from her. He knew she was disappointed in him and he was ashamed. He admits this, and also that he began spending more time with his father. The key lyric in his song: “Love Yourself” about how his mother never liked her, is truly revealing in the high regard he holds his mother. He is happy that they are rebuilding their relationship even though she lives in Hawaii and is far away.
12 He's Broken World Records With His Music
Who else has broken the record that the Beatles held of popular songs on the Hot 100? Justin Bieber, of course! He actually had a record seventeen songs that were on the Hot 100, aka the countdown that charts the most popular songs in the country. All of his songs, other than the now famous, “Where Are U Now?” were from his latest album, “Purpose.” It truly became the comeback album for Justin, and his six to top the Billboard 200. This puts him in some amazing company musically. Fans are cheering him on as he makes positive strides ahead in his career and in his life and there seems to be no stopping him. Justin is collaborating with all kinds of musicians like Ed Sheeran for his hit, “Love Yourself,” and is experimenting with singing in Spanish with his latest collaboration with Luis Fonsi on “Despacito”, he is on fire and in a good way.
11 He Can Laugh At Himself
From humorous social media posts to his carpool karaoke with James Corden, Justin Bieber is not above poking fun at himself and his singing in a good-natured way. He's super funny and entertaining and knows how to have a good time. The people around him see that he is talented and also able to not take himself too seriously which is definitely a great quality for someone to have, celebrity or not. Too many artists do this, and it does nothing for their music or popularity. People end up seeing them as conceited and self-serving. Justin Bieber has needed this more than ever, due to his very difficult year back in 2015. So seeing him last year and this year making this kind of comeback is very encouraging and a positive thing for all people to see. It is never too late to start again, and even laugh at yourself as you are doing it.
10 He's An Awesome Dancer
Watch The Biebs dance for even a minute and you will be seriously impressed. His dancing is well choreographed, timed, and looks like a ton of fun. And he makes it seem easy to do while looking super sexy at the same time! These dance moves, along with very catchy stylized pop tunes written by some talented songwriters, make us want to see more of him moving across the stage and screen. He is a natural entertainer who has been singing and dancing since he was a kid, and he makes it look easy even though it is not. How could you not want to root for someone like this? He has worked hard to get to where he is in the music biz, and he is able now to entertain and share that love and passion for music and dancing with us. He knows how to play guitar and piano as his mom made sure that he had lessons back when he was a kid.
9 He Has A Distinct Musical Style
Justin also knows what his style of music is and makes sure to stay pretty consistent. He knows that he does best singing top 40 pop music, so that is what he sets out to record and of course makes sure he has the best dance moves to match his awesome songs. Knowing what he sings and dances to best gives Justin an edge to looking and sounding his best. Top forty pop is always popular and his fans love the way he delivers these highly stylized types of songs and videos. Therefore, the songs go off without a hitch as well as his shows. People like how well Justin knows his own strengths in the music world and that is what brings them back for more. He is true to what he knows her can do and gives others permission to be true to themselves and to their strengths at the same time. It's an interesting concept.
8 He's A Great Older Brother
Justin is totally devoted to his younger brother, who is six years old, and he has taken him to events, makes sure to spend time with him when he's at home, and in general has given lots of love too. For Justin, family is everything, and he makes it clear that he is devoted to those close to him and to making sure they continue to keep a close and happy relationship with one another. Justin has made mistakes in the past in relationships, but he keeps this in mind so that he can do better in the present and future and grow stronger as a result. He loves his mother, father, and brother, and is trying his best to be there for all of them in a positive way so that they can all remain close with one another. After all, if one does not have family (in blood or by choice) that one can lean on, life becomes a super lonely place.
7 His Bad Choices
Although he seemed like the boy next door at the beginning of his career, in recent years Justin Bieber made some pretty poor choices in his personal life. From egging mansions on his street to fighting with fans to trashing hotel rooms and other public places, he hasn't got the best reputation anymore. People think that he's spoiled, that he doesn't appreciate anything, and that he can't handle fame and the accompanying responsibilities. The only people who did like Justin in these instances were the paparazzi who had some things to write and film about every day which attracted readers. However, the attraction was not positive for Justin Bieber and served to label him in a negative way. These reckless acts cost him old fans, prevented new ones from seeing his musical talent (or at least seeing if they liked his music and giving it a chance), and dragged his self-esteem through the mud, as the saying goes.
6 His Drug Abuse
Many stars have dabbled in recreational drug use to some extent. It's not something positive and something they talk about unless it's to say that it was a big mistake, which it is in all cases. Stars are especially sensitive about this part of their lives if they have younger fan bases. But let's face it, stars are human beings who make mistakes as well as any of us can do with bad choices and need to learn the error of their ways. Justin did not seem to care that pictures of him were circulating about when he was shown dabbling in some illegal substances. This is not a good thing for him or for his fans, young and old as well. He needed to be conscious that his lifestyle choices were not good for him and for his fans. He was sending a message to them that drugs were cool and positive, which they were anything but.
5 His Aggressive Actions
Justin has done some pretty aggressive things like kicking one of his back-up dancers, fighting with his neighbors, assaults on limo drivers, graffiti on buildings, drag racing while intoxicated… well, you totally get the picture. He even spit from buildings. Yup. Now we can understand why many people are getting, (or have gotten fed up) with the pop star. This is beyond just youthful mistakes. Many people wonder when he will check himself into a rehab facility to get cleaned up, get some kind of anger management, and any other sort of help so that he can grow into his fame like the adult that he needs to start becoming. There is never any excuse with aggression. The person has to start taking responsibility for their actions so that they are not a danger to themselves or to others. Justin Bieber was not doing that for the longest time, and even though now he has, people don't trust him.
4 He Hates The Beatles And Metallica
This was too much for many people. When Justin said he did not like the Beatles and could sing their songs better than them and that he didn't like metal music, specifically Metallica, this wasn't great news for a lot of people. Deliberating insulting two famous and prominent musicians was beyond cruel of him and pretty much everyone agreed that Justin was way out of line when he did this. Maybe when he talks about the things in his life that he totally regrets, this is one of those things. We'll never know. It's obvious that he got a lot of hate and enemies when he blasted these groups, and those that were undecided went in the other direction completely. It wouldn't be surprising if he alienated fans at the same time. Why say that about two very talented groups? To each his own with musical style. There is no need to put anyone or any music down.
3 One Word: TMZ
TMZ showed a very negative and disturbing side of Justin Bieber in a video interview. Granted, as is evidenced in the video, the questioning goes on for several hours. He was obviously tired and stressed, but what people noticed and focused on was his arrogance, his deliberate refusal to answer questions and some insulting and demeaning comments or gestures that he made. No one was impressed. This, along with a lot of his stunts, told fans that maybe he's a spoiled star and not really the misunderstood young fan that they figured that he was. People were shocked by what they were seeing and unfortunately formed a negative opinion about Justin even before hearing or reading anything else about him in the media. The thing is a lot of the things were true, and if only he had come clean about it in the videos instead of trying to get out of it, he may have had more public sympathy. That was not going to be though.
2 How He's Treated Fans At Concerts
There have been some incidents when Justin has been less than kind to fans at concerts. There was the time a fan threw a water bottle at him and he got so angry that he stormed off stage yelling and refused to keep performing. There was also the time he has yelled at fans from the stage and was cold toward fans at “Meet and Greets” and barely even looked at them. Yes, he has anxiety and gets nervous about performing or being super close to fans, but hey, these are the people buying your records. It's important to make contact with them and be super kind and generous, as they are the ones who can make or break your career. They are the ones who buy the records and download the music, so if a musician is uncomfortable he can work on his issues so he can keep communicating with his fans.
1 The Whole Selena Gomez Thing
And finally, there is the way that The Biebs handled the end of his relationship with Selena Gomez. There was so much baggage and pain on both ends, but it seemed like even when he was trying to do the right thing by agreeing to end things with her, he couldn't stay away. His heart was probably in the right place at that point, but you could see a man that was having trouble dealing with letting go of the past and moving forward with his future. Some people speculated a few of his songs were about the breakup, so that was probably a healthy way of dealing with it, but there were lots of allegations that he cheated on her when they were together and other pieces of not so positive press for Justin. These were all things that affected people's opinion of him. So while some of us love him, some of us are haters, and that's just the way that it's going to be.
