8 Upcoming Netflix Shows That Will Suck And 7 That Won't
We definitely live for our Netflix nights and we're not ashamed. There is truly nothing better than coming home after a long day at the office and collapsing on the couch with the latest show that we're currently into. Sometimes we're super excited about an upcoming show and then when we finally tune in, we realize that we hate it. Oops. Other times, of course, we're much luckier and we discover some of our favorites. Netflix has given us some of our all-time faves from 13 Reasons Why to Orange Is The New Black to Love and Grace and Frankie. It's also given us a few duds because, well, nothing is perfect, and we just have to understand that fact. 2017 has been no stranger to amazing shows and we're certain that the rest of the year is going to continue in that direction. Of course, we don't think that every upcoming show is going to be the best one ever. Here are 8 upcoming Netflix shows that will suck and 8 that definitely won't.
15 Will Suck: House Of Cards Season 5
Sorry to all the fans out there… but we just don't think that the fifth season of House Of Cards is going to be all that great. Mostly that's because there's a certain thing that happens when we've been watching a show for a long time, and that's the fact that the show eventually starts to suck. Yup. We said it. We think that the first season of this how was absolutely awesome. It was new and fresh and we couldn't get enough. By the second season premiere, when it was clear that our beloved Zoe was dead, it was tough to keep watching and since then, it's been tough to get behind every new season. We think that this show has lost the spark that made it seem so special. The characters just seem pretty mean and cruel and we never really want to watch it. So this is one Netflix show coming out in 2017 (on May 30th, specifically) that's not going to be very good.
14 Will Suck: Glow
This new show is premiering on June 23rd and it's from the creator of Weeds and Orange Is The New Black. So that means that it's going to be great, right? Wrong. Well, at least that's what we think. There are two reasons why we think this show will suck. One reason is that we think that anything with a ton of hype and that comes from a popular show runner or creator is not always as good as we think that it's going to be. We're pretty tired of being super excited for something… and then being disappointed. It's a cycle that we think needs to end right now. Another reason we think it's going to suck? We don't think that the premise sounds very good. It's about female wrestlers. Yes, that's pretty cool and yes, that's pretty feminist. But we're not sure that we want to tune into a show about this subject.
13 Won't Suck: Queer Eye For The Straight Guy
Remember this show?! Well, it's coming back to Netflix, and we think that's a really great thing. Maybe we saw this back in the day or maybe it's brand new to us, but this is a really positive show and we think that this is what we need right now. Life is difficult enough. Let's agree to watch something more fun and light-hearted. This is a reboot or a revival or whatever word we want to use, and while we said earlier that we're not sure we're on board with all the revivals these days, this is one that we can get behind. In case we need a refresher, the original show was on Bravo and it was a reality show about makeovers. Here's the official Netflix summary: "In a time when America stands divided and the future seems uncertain, a team of five brave men will try to bring us closer together with laughter, heart, and just the right amount of moisturizer,” reads a statement from the producers. “
12 Will Sucks: Wet Hot American Summer Ten Years Later
Do we really need another show based on this movie? We get it. Wet Hot American Summer is a good movie. It's a classic. It's something that a lot of people look back fondly on and maybe even re-watch every summer. That's totally cool. When Netflix debuted its Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp in 2015, we might have watched. We might have even enjoyed it. But do we really need another one? No, we don't think that we do. We think that there's a bit too much of a revival trend going on these days and that sometimes, it's best to leave well enough alone. If we miss characters or a TV show or movie, guess what? We can always go back and re-watch the show or movie. Simple as that. Revivals aren't always necessary and sometimes, it's much better if they don't even happen at all.
11 Will Suck: Disjointed
Ugh. That's all we have to say after learning what this upcoming show is about. Sure, it stars Kathy Bates and we think that she's totally awesome. Sorry Kathy. It's not you, it's your show. This series is basically about a whole bunch of stoners. Do we need to know more? No, we really don't. That's enough to scare us off and make us think that it's not going to be very interesting to watch. We can be sure that if we watch this show, then a ton of lame stoner jokes are in our future, and we're not going to laugh even once. But really, what's the plot? Kathy Bates owns a dispensary in L.A. and deals with characters ranging from a security guard to her three sons. Apparently everyone on the show is under the influence. Yes, really. Yes, pretty much in each and every single episode. That's pretty much the whole deal. No thank you.
10 Won't Suck: Master Of None: Season 2
We loved the first season of comedian Aziz Ansari's Netflix show Master Of None. It's hilarious, witty, charming, and original. So, naturally, we're super excited for the second season which is already out now on Netflix. We know that this show won't suck at all. It just won't happen. We can relate to this show so much since it's a comedic look at the crazy world of dating. We laugh when the characters try to figure out what to say in a text message to the object of their affection, when they try to define a relationship, when they figure out what they want, and when they realize that they're always going to be totally confused. It's really so amazing and if you haven't started watching it yet, what are you waiting for?!
9 Will Suck: Gypsy
Naomi Watts is the main character in this upcoming Netflix show and we have to say that we're not excited for it at all. Not because we're not fans of the actress. But because we don't like the premise? So what is it? She plays a therapist who gets so involved in the worlds of her patients that she actually has relationships with their nearest and dearest. Um, okay. That's creepy. Yes, we get that it's probably meant to be creepy, and this is probably going to be pretty popular. But… we can't get on board. We just can't. We think that this is a nightmare waiting to happen and we hate to imagine what would happen if a therapist really would do this. Since our time is limited and there are so many other shows to watch, we think that we're going to give this one a miss and watch some other stuff. We won't be starved for content, that's for sure.
8 Won't Suck: OITNB Season 5
We're huge fans of Orange Is The New Black and we're definitely excited for the fifth season of this prison drama, which is going to start streaming on Netflix on June 9th. The cool thing about this show is that it hasn't hit any slumps along the way. It's still really interesting and really powerful and moving and we haven't gotten bored of it yet. Sure, the show has changed a lot since the very first season, but we think that those changes have been for the better. Some people think that the first season was the best since it focused on Piper more, and others think that the subsequent seasons have been better since they delve deeper into the past lives of the other characters. Last season had a really tragic storyline and chances are, we're all pretty shook up from that. We're definitely ready to see what our favorite characters are up to.
7 Will Suck: Dark
We're not against horror or thriller shows -- some of Netflix's best content has been in that world, like The O.A. which was one of the best late 2016 shows. We're not sure that we're going to like Dark, which is one of Netflix's upcoming 2017 shows. It's about a German town where a bunch of kids disappear. We have to admit that we're not on board with this show. Why? Because we've seen so many shows with missing kids. We don't want to watch another show where we learn that sweet, innocent children have been kidnapped or worse. It's just too disturbing and too, well, dark (pun not intended). Why do we need another story like this? Why can't we have a supernatural or horror show that doesn't involve kids who have disappeared? We think that this is possible and we would be more interested in watching something along those lines.
6 Won't Suck: Atypical
This upcoming Netflix show has a really amazing premise and we're already excited for it. It's about a teenager who has autism and we think it's awesome that Netflix is tackling this important subject. Jennifer Jason Leigh is in the main character role and so we know that she will do an amazing job. The teenager who has autism is 18 years old, so we think that will make for an interesting narrative since he will be dealing with some typical coming-of-age storylines. This series is being described as a "teen comedy" so we can be sure that although the topic is pretty serious and heavy, the show isn't going to be like that. It's going to be funny and we're sure that it will be. We just know that this show will strive the delicate balance between being funny and light and also honor what it's like to live with autism.
5 Will Suck: Mindhunter
On October 19th, this new Netflix series will start streaming, and we have one thing to say: we're already totally creeped out. We're definitely not going to write this show down on our calendar. It's about an FBI agent who deals with rapists and serial killers. Um, no thank you. Definitely not happening. We don't want to have nightmares for an entire year (or five years). While we're sure that this show will be pretty well-done since it's a Netflix show and we love Netflix, we just don't think that we can handle this show. The truth is that our daily lives are difficult and stressful enough, so it's really hard to sit down at the end of a long day and force ourselves to watch something so dark and disturbing. Because we know that this show is going to be disturbing. There isn't going to be a way that it's not going to be.
4 Won't Suck: Kiss Me First
Doesn't this sound absolutely awesome? This show is about a teenage girl named Leila who becomes actual friends with a girl named Tess that she comes across in an online gaming world. When Tess goes missing, Leila pretends to be her so she can figure out what happened. Yup. We're into it. We're there. We can only hope that Netflix gives this show several seasons because we can already tell that we're going to be totally addicted and obsessed and that one season won't be enough. Are we being silly and overdramatic? Should we see what the first episode is like and then decide? No, we're being just dramatic enough. We love the premise and are already totally intrigued, and that's really enough for us. So we can be sure that when this show premieres, we're going to be ready and we're going to binge it as fast as we can.
3 Will Suck: Friends From College
This show will not be as good as it sounds. We are super sure of that. Why? Because we've been burned before. We've gotten super psyched, texted our BFFs that it's finally time to check out the latest show that we've been waiting for… and then we've realized that we can't get past the first five minutes. While we are hopeful that the Netflix show Friends From College will be good because it stars actors we love like Colbie Smulders, we think that the premise says it all. It's about, well, friends from college (so the name definitely sells it) who are in their 40s and are trying to figure out life. We think that this is going to be the kind of sitcom that tries really hard to be funny but just isn't. Is it mean that we're expecting this show to be anything but funny? We don't think so. We've seen enough sitcoms in our lives, thank you very much, and we just don't think that we're going to laugh at people making age-related jokes.
2 Won't Suck: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3
On May 19th, the third season of this absolutely amazing and charming and hilarious sitcom returned to Netflix, and we already knew that it was going to be good. We've gotten this far and have still been enjoying the show, so why would it be bad now? We totally understand that a show can go off the rails at absolutely any time. We've been there before and it has always sucked. But we trust this show and the cast and crew. We really and truly do. We don't want to get greedy because we've already enjoyed such amazing Netflix content in the beginning of 2017 alone, from Love to Grace and Frankie to 13 Reasons Why, but we do really want to watch the third season of this unique and original sitcom. It's just impossible not to fall in love with Kimmy.
1 Won't Suck: Stranger Things Season 2
We can be sure that when Stranger Things comes back in October 2017 (yes, it's a really long time to wait), we're going to be just as in love as we were with the first season. There's just no way that this show is going to let us down. We love the adorable kids, the 1980s setting, the supernatural and magical storylines, and the character development. We have high hopes and expectations for this show, sure, but we don't think that we're going to be disappointed. This is definitely going to be one of those cases where the hype doesn't ruin the experience. So now we just have to wait until the fall. It might be tough. Okay, it's definitely going to be tough. We think that we can do it. After all, if this list is any indication, there are going to be enough good Netflix shows to hold us over until then. We just have to avoid the bad ones.
