Cutest Things 13 Celeb Dads Have Said About Their Kids
Celebrities don't always want to discuss their personal lives, which we totally get (even though we're super desperate to know more about the stars that we adore). They never seem to mind talking about their kids, however, and generally will open up no matter who's interviewing them or where they are. Balancing a career in showbiz while raising children definitely has its challenges, but these stars seem to be handling it quite well. Here are 13 celebrity dads and the incredibly cute things they have said about their children and fatherhood in general.
13 Ben Stiller
Ben Stiller has a daughter and a son with wife Christine Taylor. He loves thinking about his best parenting moments and has talked about going to an Upper West Side playground with his kids that he went to when he was growing up. He has said, "Feeling that connection and that cycle of being able to keep things going… that sort of continuity. But I love every day and, just like I was saying, it's like pure love and good things, you know?"
12 Ben Affleck
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are parents to two daughters and a son. The two are awesome parents, though, because despite the fact that they're getting divorced, they're willing to put their kids first. Ben Affleck has said, "Having a family makes whatever other thing you have that much richer." He loves sharing his good times with the people in his life, aka his family.
11 Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr. plays a superhero at work but for his child he just wants to be the best dad he can be: "Do I want to be a hero to my son? No. I would like to be a very real human being. That's hard enough.… [H]ero to me is not applicable to the human experience.” He has also admitted to how complicated the process is and that you shouldn't show your kids how anxious and freaked out about parenting you are.
10 Dax Shepard
Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell are parents to daughters Lincoln and Delta. Dax shared the following (and extremely cute) quote about his first daughter when she was only 13 months old: "When I look at her, it's like when I was in 7th grade and fell in love for the first time, where it's debilitating. That's available 24/7 if I want, which is amazing." Dax has been open about the fact that he and Kristen have been in couple's therapy since the very beginning of their relationship to ensure its strength.
9 Chris Rock
Chris Rock makes it clear that his children come first, and he makes a pretty good point about juggling a career with fatherhood. He says that saying "sacrifice" means you had a better life pre-kids and he just doesn't see that as the case at all. He would rather be with his little ones than filming a movie any day, and we think that's pretty awesome.
8 Ryan Reynolds
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are parents to a daughter named James and have another on the way. Ryan has said a ton of sweet things about fatherhood and seems to be enjoying it all. He has joked that before, when his beauty sleep would be disrupted at 3 a.m. or so he would be pissed off, but he's totally cool with (and even happy) being woken up by his baby.
7 Matt Damon
Matt Damon has been married to Luciana Barroso since 2005, and together the two have four children, Alexia, Isabella, Gia, and Stella. He has an amazing quote about being a dad: "The only way I can describe [fatherhood] -- it sounds stupid, but at the end of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, you know how his heart grows, like, five times its size? Everything is full; it's just full all the time."
6 Hugh Jackman
The actor has been open about his troubles conceiving with his wife Deborra-Lee Furness. The two ultimately became parents however when they adopted Oscar and Ava, and sounds like the option was a dream come true for the couple. He has said it's an "avalanche of emotion" being a parent and that it makes you feel "alive."
5 Channing Tatum
The Magic Mike star has made it clear that his wife Jenna gets a lot of credit for the whole parenting thing and often says she's such a great mom. He has joked that someone from the hospital should move in with you to make sure that everything goes smoothly with the baby.
4 Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie definitely have a huge family: three biological children as well as three adopted children. Brad has said it's hard sometimes to be a dad and that his days are super packed and stretch on, but "I can't explain the fulfillment of that, but it is everything."
3 David Beckham
David and Victoria Beckham have three sons and a daughter. Son Brooklyn has admitted that the two are "strict." David has talked about whether or not his kids will follow in his professional footsteps and he wants his son to follow if he's happy about it, not because he feels any kind of pressure (from the family or society).
2 Chris Pratt
Chris Pratt and Anna Faris are parents to son Jack, who was premature. He was born nine weeks early at three pounds, 12 ounces, and had to stay in the hospital for a while. Chris has been vocal about how hard that experience was and how proud they are that he survived. Chris has said that nothing he's ever experienced in his acting life will even come close to being a father.
1 Prince William
Prince William and Kate Middleton are parents to two, and he has admitted that becoming a dad has made him more emotional all around. In a British documentary about his family, he shared that he gets super upset when any little thing happens. Sounds about right, and it's nice to see that a member of the royal family thinks the same as us mere mortals: that having children is pretty awesome.
