The Cast of Mean Girls What They Look Like Now
It may be hard to believe, but Mean Girls was released 13 years ago. Yes, it was only 2004 when the beloved comedy came into our lives. Most of us have seen the movie many times since then and can recite all of the iconic lines. Super fans even treat October 3rd like a mini holiday. Unlike many other teen movies, the film captured high school life pretty accurately for most American teens while also making us laugh hysterically. The dialogue and plot were amazing, but the actors and the characters they played were what made Mean Girls a classic.
So, what are Cady, Regina, Janis and the rest of the gang up to these days? And what do they even look like now? Some of the actors went on to become pretty successful, while others have been relatively under the radar. Let's take a look at what the cast of Mean Girls has been up to in recent years, including their looks:
10 Lindsay Lohan
Looking back, it's hard to imagine a time when Lindsay Lohan was just a normal young actress with so much potential. And can we say how many enhancements she's gotten done over the years? She even had dreams of becoming a singer - remember the song "Confessions of a Broken Heart"? We all know things got rough for her a few years after the movie came out. In 2007, Lindsay was arrested a couple of times for drunk driving and had to go to rehab for her addiction. Unfortunately, she continued to struggle with her addiction for years after that and made several more court appearances. Her relationships have also been rocky - she recently called it quits with her ex-fiance after a nasty public fight. It does seem like things are finally looking up for the actress. She's reportedly drug free and has managed to stay out of legal trouble. Lindsay is apparently working on a new prank based reality show which hasn't been picked up yet.
9 Rachel McAdams
2004 was a great year for Rachel McAdams. Not only did she star in Mean Girls, but she was also the lead in the Notebook. Talk about two very different characters. We have to say though we think in real like Rachel is closer to her Notebook character! Needless to say, her career jumped off and she's managed to remain a successful actress since then. She was even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie Spotlight. Her love life hasn't been quite as smooth as her career. We were all super bummed when her relationship with Ryan Gosling ended in 2008, and she's had a few boyfriends since then. She's dated Taylor Kitsch, Josh Lucas, Michael Sheen, music manager Patrick Sambrook, and most recently director Jamie Linden. Rachel is reportedly very happy with her relationship with Jamie, and they are expected to get married soon. If you miss seeing Rachel on the big screen, check out the movie Disobedience, which will come out later this year.
8 Lizzy Caplan
Wow talk about a drastic change! Lizzy Caplan is such a beautiful woman that it's crazy to imagine her playing a goth inspired character! After Mean Girls, Lizzy Caplan has maintained a steady acting career. She's starred in many films, but she's also become a great television star. She's been on New Girl, True Blood, and Party Down, just to name a few, but it was her role in Masters of Sex that got her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The show included several nude scenes, which Lizzy admits were uncomfortable to shoot at first. Masters of Sex got canceled last year after four seasons, but the actress is keeping herself busy with her fiance, actor Tom Riley. Tom proposed in New York City just a few months after the pair made their first red carpet appearance together. Fun fact, before getting with Tom, Lizzy dated Matthew Perry for six years- weird, I know. She is also the godmother to her Freaks and Geeks co-star Busy Phillips' daughter, Birdie.
7 Amanda Seyfried
Although she was younger then, Amanda Seyfried was always a doe-eyed babe! Mean Girls was the first movie Amanda Seyfried was in, and she's starred in plenty of films since then. It turns out Amanda can also sing, and she showed off her talent as the lead in Mama Mia!, which also starred Meryl Streep. She also sang beautifully in the film adaptation of Les Miserables. Amanda has had success in television as well. She's even rumored to be in Showtime's upcoming Twin Peaks series. Amanda is now a wife and new mom. After a string of boyfriends that didn't work out, including actors Justin Long and Dominic Cooper, Amanda found true love with Thomas Sadoski. They couple met on set, and got engaged a few months later. They eloped in March of this year, and Amanda gave birth to a daughter a few days later. Amanda's post pregnancy body looks shockingly similar to her pre-baby body, even though it's only been 2 months!
6 Daniel Franzese
Daniel Franzese captured our hearts as Damien, but even after the success of Mean Girls, the actor didn't become an instant star. He made frequent appearances in movies and television shows, but it took a while before he got his next big role. In 2015, he got cast in the HBO series Looking, which explored the lives of gay men in San Francisco. A year later, he got a lead role in ABC Family's Recovery Road. Unfortunately both shows were recently canceled, but we're sure we'll see Daniel on our tv screens again. Despite playing someone who was “too gay to function” in Mean Girls, Daniel didn't publicly come out as gay until 2014. Since then, he's been an LGBT community activist. He proposed to his partner, Joseph Bradley-Phillips, last year after two years of dating. The couple met at a Starbucks, and Daniel popped the question at the coffee shop.
5 Tina Fey
Tina Fey hasn't changed much since her character, which makes us wonder if she ever ages! Tina Fey already had some SNL fame under her belt by the time Mean Girls was released, but she became super famous shortly after. She wrote the film loosely based on her own high school experience. Tina has stayed super active in the world of comedy, and has gone on to be in several movies and television shows. Besides SNL, she's most known for her lead role in 30 Rock, which aired for 7 seasons. She also directed, produced, and wrote for the show. Tina has won numerous awards including Emmys and Golden Globes. She even hosted the Golden Globes with Amy Poehler, who we're happy to report is still her BFF. Tina is also still married to Jeff Richmond, and is now a mother of two daughters, Alice and Penelope. Did we mention that she also wrote a best seller? Her autobiography "Bossypants" was on the New York Times Best Seller list for 5 weeks!
4 Amy Poehler
Like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler was also a familiar face by the time Mean Girls came out. She was on SNL since 2001 and was known for her Weekend Update segments. Since the movie, Amy's career has skyrocketed. Her role as Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation has made her very well-known and has also led her to winning several awards, including an Emmy. Amy has starred in a several more films since Mean Girls, including a few with Tina Fey. She's also the lead in a comedy that comes out this year with Will Ferrell, called The House. Unfortunately, her marriage to fellow comedian Will Arnett did not last. After over ten years of marriage, they decided to call it quits. They do have two sons together and remain friends. Amy went on to date Nick Kroll, but is now rumored to be dating lawyer Benjamin Graf.
3 Jonathan Bennett
Ah, every girls' movie crush is all crown up, and no longer sporting those beautiful long locks! Jonathan Bennett was cast in Mean Girls partly because of his resemblance to Tina Fey's SNL co-star Jimmy Fallon. He hasn't been in too many films since, but he is staying in the public eye. In 2014, he joined the cast of Dancing With The Stars, where he finished in 9th place. A bit of controversy was stirred when Julianne Hough, who was a judge on the show at the time, accidentally outed Jonathan as being gay in an interview with Mario Lopez. Although many people had their suspicions, the actor had never publicly came out. To this day, Jonathan has still avoided confirming anything with the press about his personal orientation. It is assumed that he is gay, but the actor hasn't shared anything public about his relationships. These days, you can see Jonathan on television as the host of the Food Network's Cake Wars.
2 Rajiv Surendra
Dare we say that Kevin G is a hunk? Rajiv Surendra played mathlete and rapper Kevin G in Mean Girls, and he really hasn't done much acting since then. He only has one IMDB acting credit listed after the movie and it's for a short film. Instead, he's pursuing other interests, including writing. His book, "Elephants in my Backyard", is an interesting memoir that chronicles Rajiv's attempt to land a role in the film adaptation of Life of Pi. He became obsessed with being in the movie and spent 10 years trying to make his dream a reality. Sadly, he didn't get the part. Rajiv is also an artist and is known for calligraphy, pottery, chalk art, and painting. He lives in New York and runs a website which showcases his art called Letters in Ink. Rajiv is reportedly still friends with his co-star Daniel Franzese and is willing to act in small roles for independent productions.
1 Lacey Chabert
Lacey Chabert had a pretty solid career before landing the role of Gretchen Weiners in Mean Girls. She was a successful child actress and was fairly well-known for playing Claudia in Party of Five. She was also the voice of Eliza Thornberry in the Nickelodeon hit, The Wild Thornberrys. After the movie, Lacey made a few film and television appearances, but mostly stayed under the radar. Lacey did star in the horror remake of Black Christmas and landed a recurring role on ABC Family's Baby Daddy. She has been in several Hallmark Channel movies and says she loves working with the network and plans on doing more films with them. Most of her recent work consists of voice acting - she's been credited for the voice of dozens of television characters. In 2013 she got married to her long time boyfriend. The couple lives in California with their daughter, Julia.
