12 Celebs Who Surprisingly Use Apps To Find Love
Stars are just like me and you - they need loving too! When you're constantly on the road, but in need of some friendly company, what better to turn to than a dating app. Sure it's a bit odd that celebrities, who have thousands of fans screaming after them everyday, can't hook up without help, but they aren't immune to becoming lonely.
Tinder has even introduced a new verified profile for celebs so users know if they are real or fake. They claimed on their blog, "Now when notable public figures, celebrities and athletes appear in your recommendations, you'll know it's for real." That is not to say Tinder is for every celeb. Singer Ed Sheeran was approached to become verified but he called it "creepy." He told Total Access, "It just sounds quite creepy doing that. You're just using your celebrity status to hook up with chicks."
But for those celebs who have caught the bug, they can't stop talking about how much they love it. These are some of the most famous faces you can hook up with online…
12 Ronda Rousey
If you know anyone who has chatted up a "Brynn Campbell" on Tinder - then you may have been talking to UFC champion, Ronda Rousey. "Brynn" was her secret alias on the dating app, which she loved until being too famous made her shut down the account permanently.
Jon Wertheim from Sports Illustrated reported: "Her fame is such that she can't go on Tinder. She tried an alter ego - Brynn Campbell - but that didn't work. Rousey is left on the sideline at home with (her dog) Mochi."
Rousey's pre-fight ritual is to enjoy exercise in the bedroom. She told HBO Sports: "I try to get it on as much as possible before I fight. If I do have a boyfriend, I'm more inclined to do it more. But I don't, so I'm kind of out of luck." We're surprised there's not a queue at her door.
11 Adele
Before she settled down with her husband, Simon Konecki, 28-year-old Adele believed she was always going to be unlucky in love. Adele admitted in her biography that she had signed up for eHarmony but as she couldn't use a photo of herself, nobody was interested.
Adele said she turned to dating apps to help recover from a broken heart. The Someone Like You singer revealed: "He made me totally hungry. He was older, he was successful in his own right, whereas my boyfriends before were my age and not really doing much. He got me interested in film and literature and food and wine and traveling and politics and history and those were things I was never, ever interested in. I was interested in going clubbing and getting drunk."
10 Ben Flajnik
Season 16 of The Bachelor ended with Ben Flajnik choosing Courtney Robertson and the two ran off together to be married. However, a few months later they sadly announced their separation. Courtney revealed in her memoir I Didn't Come Here to Make Friends: Confessions of a Reality Show Villain, "There was a lot of different reasons. To sum it up we were just very different. I never felt like a priority."
Ben didn't waste anytime and got straight back into the dating game again on Tinder. He told the Huffington Post, "I found (love) on a dating app. Just swipe right, swipe right." He swiped right for his girlfriend, Stephanie Winn, and the two have been happily living together ever since. It's a true modern day fairytale - kind of.
9 Lily Allen
Lily Allen caused quite the stir when she announced via Twitter that she was addicted to Tinder - despite the fact she was married with two children. Her matchmaking profile included six photos of her, including a topless snap (taken from behind) on the beach. Although she did admit: "Some of these photos were taken when I was younger and hotter."
The Fear singer explained she wasn't using the app to hookup but instead to "meet friends." She told The Sun newspaper, "I'm a touring artist wanting to meet people abroad who don't want to talk about the industry formally known as entertainment. I am married, have two beautiful girls, a massive mortgage and ridiculous schedule."
8 Lindsay Lohan
Looking for love via dating apps certainly runs in this family, as Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan discovered when she bumped into her brother, Michael, on Tinder. Just to torture her younger brother some more, Lindsay took a screenshot of his profile and posted on Instagram: "Look who I just found on @tinderapp… hey bro!"
29-year-old Lindsay has now probably left her Tinder nights behind her as she is dating Russian heir 22-year-old Egor Tarabasov. The loved-up pair moved in together after dating for just three months and we are waiting for her to reveal if they hooked up through the app.
7 Hilary Duff
Last year, single mom, actress, and singer Hilary Duff told the radio show Valentine In The Morning that she is trying to find love again through dating apps. Her profile bio reads: "Let's get pizza!" and that she is looking for someone who makes her laugh. Duff was originally on Tinder but soon moved over to the invite-only Ivy League app which describes itself as a hook-up for "high-caliber L.A. singles."
The Lizzie McGuire star had previously dated Joel Madden, Frankie Muniz, Shia LaBeouf, and Aaron Carter before marrying National Hockey League player Mike Comrie in 2010. The pair separated last year and have only just finalized their divorce - but Duff looks like she's raring to go all over again.
6 Andy Cohen
Bravo executive and Real Housewives host, Andy Cohen, told People magazine he loves his Tinder app. He confessed, "I have no shame in my game. I'm there, I'm swiping." The New York based star TV personality added, "I like it. It's fun. You know, it's to me: Where am I going to meet an architect who lives in Brooklyn besides Tinder at this point? It's the modern-day singles bar."
Cohen has managed to find love - but in the shape of his adorable beagle-foxhound cross who he shares his profile picture with. He said, "I'm madly in love" when he spoke about his new puppy. Fingers crossed he will hook up with another dog lover soon.
5 Erin Heatherton
Erin Heatherton loves Tinder so much she became the face of it. The Victoria's Secret model helped launch their new "Super Like" feature late last year. She told E! Online, "I've always been passionate about connecting with people, so the opportunity to collaborate with the talented team at Tinder is so rewarding."
The blonde bombshell who dated Leonardo Di Caprio for a year, also added, "What I like most about Tinder is that it has given women the power to decide who has the ability to communicate with them. Super Like enhances these powers by allowing them to invite the people they want to engage with."
4 Britney Spears
When Jimmy Fallon signed up Britney Spears on Tinder for a "Pros and Cons of Dating Britney Spears" comedy sketch, she had a great time. Just one month after splitting from her boyfriend of 17 months David Lucado, following reports of his infidelities, Britney was back in the dating game.
Her bio includes the line, "This better work, b***h!" and showed off her stunning figure in a low cut red top. Just last week, a still single Britney performed a mega-hits melody at the Billboard Music Awards and she looked in great shape. Man or not in her life - it looks like we have old Britney back for good.
3 Eric Stonestreet
Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet loves his Tinder. In an interview with Howard Stern he revealed, "On Tinder, there's a decent chance (of a date) but it's all based on immediate physical attraction. So you just swipe through people and you see pictures and you either say "like" or "nope"… I've gone out with a couple girls in L.A. that I met on Tinder, like on real dates. It's hard to meet people."
Despite his his most prominent role as a gay character, Stonestreet often describes himself as "openly straight." He is a huge supporter of the LGBT community and once refused to be photographed next to Republican party politician Rick Santorum as he was opposed to same sex marriage.
2 Chelsea Handler
Chelsea Handler is such a Tinder expert she can even help others up their game too. A few weeks ago, during The Late Show with James Corden, she helped an audience member called Tiffany play Tinder live. When Tiffany said she didn't agree with a match as he appeared too perfect, the outspoken comedian responded, "That's a good call. He's cute, you can get it on with with him, but yeah, you're right."
Handler told Glamour magazine that her interests have shifted slightly. The funny woman revealed, "Great guys exist. They may not be in the package you think you like, and they may not come when you feel you deserve them the most, but they're there. I believe it. You should too. Because now I'm with someone who makes me grow every day. His name is Netflix."
1 Katy Perry
During the time Katy Perry was "off" with John Mayer during their "on-again-off-again" romance, she signed up to find love on Tinder. When the Teenage Dream was asked by Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club if she was on any dating apps, she replied, "Uh, yes I am, hello! I'm really deep on Tinder."
The 31-year-old star has never been lucky in love. She split from her husband of 14 months, British comedian and actor Russell Brand, before moving on to a disastrous relationship with John Mayer for 18 months and most recently to Orlando Bloom who caused a lot of controversy when he was photographed getting cozy with Selena Gomez. Hopefully Katy can ditch the famous men and settle down with a normal match soon.
