12 Entertaining Snapchat Stories That Went Viral
Snapchat is a unique app in the social media world based on the fact that what you post disappears after a while, as opposed to being stored on a page for as long as you decide to leave it there. Fun fact: the app was actually created by three students (Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown) at Stanford. At first, their classmates just didn't understand the point. But we all know how that turned out. Here are 12 of the best Snapchat stories that have managed to go viral.
12 The Utah State Love Story
Of course, the University of Wisconsin love story was not the only one to take place via Snapchat. There was also one at Utah State, and whether you're a hopeless romantic or just an avid Snapchatter (is that a thing? Let's make it a thing), then you probably gobbled this story right up. Twenty-year-old Lauren Coulter started posting movie spoilers on Snapchat and she ended up gaining a following, as people wanted to tune in to her weekly spoilers. Which, by the way, were of older films, so don't accuse her. At one point, she gave a shout-out to a guy named Trevor, and someone suggested they go out. They did.
11 The University of Wisconsin Love Story
Romance definitely isn't dead. If anything, the fact that we have tons of different ways of connecting online means the more chances we have to find love. Right? This University of Wisconsin love story definitely makes that seem like the case. This snap story began over a missed connection in the school's Memorial Library. People got involved to help them try to find each other… which of course they did. Awww.
10 One Guy's Super Dramatic Phone Charger Story
This guy started a really dramatic snap story, which included rivers of tears drawn onto his photos. Super relatable. And super random. But that's why we love this form of social media, right? It's pretty unique.
9 When This Guy Acted Out Weird Facial Expressions
A guy named Pete (as he's called) decided to do a snap story of some thought-provoking facts and show his deep thoughts on his face as he got more and more befuddled. These are pretty much the facial expressions that all of us would be making all the time if it seemed socially appropriate to do so. Again, pretty easy to relate to (and again, pretty random). What would we do without the wonders and glory of Snapchat?
8 When This Student Literally Put Words In His Teacher's Mouth
Sometimes school can get boring. Back in the day, when we were bored, we had to resort to staring at the ceiling, looking out the window or passing notes with our best friends who were sitting nearby. But today's kids have laptops, iPhones, and of course social media like Snapchat. So this kid found a great way to spice things up when he found class totally boring one day: he completely made up what his teacher was saying and shared his snaps with the world. Of course. Why wouldn't you? The teacher probably got wind of the fact that this was going viral. Who knows what kind of trouble this kid got into?
7 When This Guy's Mom Followed Him
Talk about embarrassing. Everything about your parents is pretty humiliating when you're a teenager and that doesn't necessarily change as you get older, but add social media into the equation and things get pretty confusing and complicated. Some of us would think that parents shouldn't lurk around at all online, and others might be more comfortable being Facebook friends with their mom. But Snapchat is totally lurker central and that's basically the whole concept behind the thing. But you probably don't want your mom watching you. This guy figured it out, though.
6 Kids Jump Roping With Cat Intestines
Recently a pretty disgusting video went viral on Snapchat: a class jump roping. With cat intestines. Literally. The point of the exercise in the anatomy class was to demonstrate how strong the intestines are, and naturally the video spread like wildfire. Despite a lot of people hating it very much, neither the students nor the teachers involved will be facing any punishment for it. Interesting. PETA, of course, is pissed, and we don't blame them.
5 This Guy's Slurry Spreading Tutorial
What is slurry you ask? Slurry is a "semi liquid mixture, typically of fine particles of manure, cement, or coal suspended in water." One Irish kid who farms in his spare time had a Snapchat go viral where he was giving a tutorial on how to spread said slurry.
4 This Guy Pitting Snapchat Against Facebook
Casey Neistat decided to pit Snapchat and Facebook against each other in a Snapchat video and see who would come out ahead. Spoiler alert: Snapchat won. As of this writing, the video currently has 1,342,816 views on YouTube. Everything this guy posts is good, so be sure to look out for more of these kind of gems.
3 Anything Shaun McBride, Chris Carmichae, And Jerome Jarre Post
Some consider Shaun McBride, Chris Carmichae, and Jerome Jarre the first real viral stars of Snapchat. This is mostly because the three of them brought a ton of followers over from their Vine accounts. But they also post some pretty awesome content, so they totally deserve the title. They have an audience of over two million and make money from this, too. Amazing. Jerome, who describes himself as an “outgoing Borat Frenchman,” moved to Snapchat despite having six million followers on Vine. As for why he made the switch he said: “Why would Christophe Colomb go to America? Why would we go to the moon? It's fresh, anything can happen there.”
2 Tanmay Bhat's Discussion on Feminism
YouTube comedian Tanmay Bhat took to Snapchat to discuss an important and sometimes hot topic: feminism. He basically discusses a meme that he saw that poked fun at feminists and went on to explain why anyone who believes in equality should consider themselves a feminist. Feminist is not the "f" word.
1 Damn Daniel
Damn Daniel had some pretty humble beginnings when a teen in California named Josh started posting spoof videos about his friend Daniel's good looks and stylish clothing choices. The funny part? Daniel is wearing pretty average clothing and just smiles along when Josh films him. That's funny: "Damn, Daniel! Back at it again with the white Vans!"
