13 Crazy Celeb Outfits Worn Courtside
When you're a celebrity, you're captured by the paparazzi pretty much everywhere you go. Sure, there are endless photos taken of celebs when they're on the red carpet all dolled up and professionally styled. However, they also get snapped when they're coming out of the gym all sweaty in their workout clothes, going into the grocery store, walking out of a coffee shop, and basically just out and about living their lives. One place that many celebs are photographed is courtside at basketball games. While some celebs are photographed taking in basketball games in their home state, the majority are snapped sitting courtside in either Los Angeles or New York, and quite frankly, the front rows of those courts tend to be like a fashion show.
Some celebs show up super casual and appropriate for a basketball game, while others know that the paparazzi will be there and dress up to showcase their assets. Now, we're not saying you can't rock a cocktail dress and seven inch stilettos to a basketball game - you do you, girl. We're just saying that sometimes when celebs show up in over-the-top high fashion outfits looking super glam, they look a little bit strange in comparison to all the jean and sneakers wearing viewers around them.
Here are 13 of the craziest outfits worn courtside by celebrities.
13 Glitz and Glam
Okay, many of the typical outfits worn courtside at basketball games tend to be more along the lines of athletic wear or, at the very least, athleisure. Tees, jeans, sneakers or flats, something along those lines. If you want to wear a dress, that's cool - many girls show up in a casual shirt dress with sneakers. However, Fergie took things to an entirely different level with this outfit. She attended a game with former band mate will.i.am wearing a sparkly, sequin and jewel-studded cocktail dress with perfectly done hair, holding a clutch. Sometimes it's fun to dress up, but let's be honest - girlfriend looks like she got lost on her way to the club.
12 Thigh Highs
From the thighs up, Kendall Jenner actually has a fairly typical basketball-watching outfit in this shot. She's rocking teeny denim shorts and what looks to be a white crop top - perhaps a bit more high fashion than the average viewer, but particularly paired with a ponytail, it's a cute courtside look. However, in addition to tossing a chic jacket over top of the outfit, she's also paired the simple jeans and tee with thigh-high stiletto Sophia Webster boots. I mean, sure, they're gorgeous - but they're an absolutely insane choice of footwear for a basketball game. Perhaps she's trying to pay homage to the nets with her strappy shoes?
11 Leather and Stilettos
Let's just say it like it is - when you're Kim Kardashian, you 100% don't care what the average person wears to something. You just wear what you want, what will show off your assets and enhance your brand. Case in point: her courtside attire. Kanye looks relatively normal in jeans, a plain shirt, and some Timberland boots. Kim, on the other hand, is wearing a low-cut leather (yes, seriously) dress with some strappy stilettos that look like they're maybe cutting off her circulation. Her hair is tossed into a bun, though, so that makes it a casual outfit, right?
10 Queen B, Part 1
While many celebs love sitting courtside and cheering on their team at basketball games, Beyoncé is one of the celebrities most frequently seen courtside, thanks to her hubby Jay Z's stake in the Brooklyn Nets. When you go to games that often, why keep things boring by showing up in jeans and a tee every time? Bee keeps things interesting and essentially turns the courtside area into a fashion show. For this game, she's rocking leather pants, a hat, sunglasses indoors (is the glare too bright from the court in the front row?) and sexy, strappy red stilettos. Hey, when you're Beyoncé you can pretty much turn up in whatever you want.
9 Jerseys and Thigh Highs
From the waist up, Bella Thorne has a totally normal basketball watching outfit - a jersey! Obviously, she's not going to opt for the unflattering oversized option, instead repping the Los Angeles Lakers by wearing a cute tank-style purple jersey. She has a few accessories tossed on to make it a bit more chic, but her hair is loose and wavy, her make-up is natural - she looks fairly casual. That is, until you scan down to her knees and below. On top of a pair of white jeans, Thorne has opted to pair her outfit with lace-up, thigh-high stiletto sandals. Yeah. That happened.
8 Denim Cocoon
Look, we love Dascha Polanco. She's crazy talented in Orange Is The New Black, she reps a gorgeous curvy figure, and she makes interesting choices on the red carpet. However, this courtside outfit is a little bit puzzling. She looks to be wearing a Canadian tuxedo (denim jeans and a denim shirt, in a similar shade), which would be strange enough. Then, she tops it off with a sleeveless coat/vest garment, complete with luxe shearling lapels and a furry hood. Look, we're not going to lie - that thing looks super comfy, like going to a basketball game with a blanket to cozy up in. It's still a bit strange, though.
7 Accessories All Day
There are certain celebrities that can pretty much turn up in whatever they want and somehow look good, and Rihanna is one of them. However, even though she looks fab in this outfit, Rihanna does kind of look like she got lost on the way to the club. She's rocking a black, very low cut cami, some strappy leather ankle booties, long, long extensions, tons of gold accessories, a red lip… it's just a lot of look going on. Sure, she can kind of pull it off because, well, she's Rihanna, but we can't help but feel like a few swaps would have made the outfit a bit more courtside chic.
6 Turtlenecks and terry cloth
From afar, this look almost seems tame for Kim Kardashian. I mean, the turtleneck is a solid colour with no crazy cut outs, the skirt is a restrained black, it looks pretty normal. That is, until you zoom in a little bit. First of all, the turtleneck doesn't really fit her that well. Second, that pencil skirt with the slit all the way up to mid-thigh? It's made of terrycloth. For real - look closely and you'll see that her skirt is made of the same material as that ratty old bathrobe you can't quite part ways with. Perhaps she thought it made it more casual and athletic?
5 Queen B, Part 2
I mean, where are you going to wear your varsity jacket with metallic gold sleeves if not a basketball game? As if that wasn't enough of a statement, Beyoncé pairs her jacket with some leather leggings, a fun hat, and high heeled boots that are quite literally about seven inches tall. I mean, this girl is committed to slaying the style game. Jay Z is just clapping beside her in casual jeans and a tee while she's posing, fully aware of how hard she's rocking it. On paper, the look is a little bit ridiculous. In practice? Beyoncé can wear anything, plain and simple.
4 Thigh Highs, Part 2
So, it seems like Kendall Jenner wearing strappy thigh high boots courtside has become a bit of a thing - and it's a little ridiculous. First of all, just check out the context - literally everyone around the young Jenner is wearing jeans and tees (apart from her sister Kylie, that is). However, Kendall doesn't care - she's fabulous and she's going to show up in strappy stiletto thigh highs if she wants to. Hey, that's one way to get attention from all the players when you're sitting courtside. Luckily, she kept her outfit fairly simple with a neutral black and white color palette, but still… those boots.
3 Queen B, Part 3
I mean, do we even need to get into it? Beyoncé accompanies her hubby to a lot of basketball games thanks to his stake in the Brooklyn Nets. Beyoncé shows up looking fabulous, wherever she goes. Therefore, Beyoncé is obviously going to show up courtside looking like an absolute rock star. I mean, just absorb this outfit for a moment - a canary yellow blazer, hands weighed down with massive rings, skinny jeans that are just a bit too long, and sky high stiletto heels on a tall platform that have her hovering above her hubby. This is how Beyoncé comes to a basketball game. That is all.
2 A Lil Crazy
Wait, you thought girls had the monopoly on turning up courtside wearing strange outfits totally inappropriate for the occasion? Nope - men can fall victim as well. Just take a look at this picture of Lil Wayne. First of all, his athletic socks are pulled up mid-calf in a bizarre Steve Urkel look. Second, he's wearing what looks to be loose, polka-dotted shorts (of all the patterns in the world). Then, you add in the clunky shoes and purple cap with headphones on top of it and you have a plain bizarre look.
1 90s Calling
Okay, we 100% cannot even handle this look that Paris Hilton is rocking. First of all, the sequin-trimmed tank top and light wash jeans are straight out of a teenage girl's closet from the 2000s. Second, her long extensions and harsh make-up don't do her many favours as well. However, we're really gathered here today to fully take in the fact that those boots exist. I mean, who doesn't need knee-high boots in baby pink with heels and a white fur trim? It's kind of like a Barbie version of Santa's elves.
