13 Reasons 'Awkward' Should Never End

In 2011, a show premiered on MTV that basically told the story of your life. It was about a girl named Jenna Hamilton that broke her arm and fell in the bathroom, which everyone including her parents and fellow classmates thought was an attempt to kill herself. Okay, so that specific embarrassing story never happened to you, but you can totally relate to Jenna's outsider status and her general feeling that no one really understands her. For five seasons, Awkward has followed Jenna, her ex-boyfriends, and her best friend (and her enemy, Sadie) and it's super sad that we have to say goodbye as MTV is now airing the final episodes of the final season. It really sucks when a good TV show ends. But what if it didn't have to? A girl can dream. Here are 13 reasons Awkward should never end.

    13 You're Jenna

As mentioned above, you just feel like Jenna could be your best friend and could also be you. So you would basically be friends with yourself… Okay, maybe that's a bit confusing, but you know what we mean. Jenna has always dreamed of being a writer. She started off by blogging about her romantic mishaps and innermost thoughts in high school, and now she's currently interning at a cool website for the summer in between her first two years of college. You have dreams, too, and you try your best to be a good person, even if you feel pretty misunderstood most of the time.

12 It Gets What It's Like To Be Alive

It's super rare to see characters mess up and generally embarrass themselves on a regular basis, but on Awkward, we see that in every single episode. It sucks that this show has to end when we love watching good people trying to do good and failing, since that's basically what life is. The series just totally understands what it's like to be alive. You get up every day, think you're doing the right thing, mess up, and ultimately have to learn how to move on. Life is full of hilarious and embarrassing moments, and it's about time that more TV shows reflected that.

    11 It Understands First Love

Jenna fell in love with Matty, who is honestly the most adorable teen boy to ever grace your TV set. He's sweet, and not exactly on her intellectual level, but still such a good guy that it's okay. This show totally understands what first love is like, particularly the fact that it sucks most of the time. Jenna spends the majority of all five seasons lusting after Matty and wondering if they should get back together, and of course when they do things don't exactly work out all that well. Your first love never really leaves you, even if you tell everyone that you've moved on.

    10 Everyone Has An Enemy

Jenna's arch enemy in life is Sadie, who is super sarcastic and just plain mean. She's seriously the worst person you could ever come across, and she's one TV character that we would never want to actually exist. She even becomes BFFs with Jenna's BFF Tamara which is just against the BFF rules. You have an enemy of sorts in your life, too, even if you might not be dramatic enough to call it that. But you can relate if you've got a coworker who is always trying to steal your ideas or your thunder, or an ex-friend who never seems to stop bad-mouthing you to other people.

9 It Knows People Aren't Perfect

Literally any character on the show has two sides: they're good, and then they're not exactly bad or evil but they're not super sweet all the time, either. Take any of Jenna's ex-boyfriends. They didn't always treat her like she deserves to be treated, and they weren't always the best guys around, but the show understands that everyone makes mistakes and literally no one is perfect. It's refreshing to see those kinds of people on TV instead of glossy reality TV characters who never seem to have a single problem beyond what to buy that day.

8 The Parents Are The Best

You know a show is awesome when the adult characters are just as awesome and interesting as the teenage characters. That's definitely true for this show. Jenna's parents are just hilarious, sweet, charming, and heartwarming. They will make you miss your own parents and make you want to call your mom because you remember how grateful you are for her support your entire life. Jenna may not always enjoy having such young parents since they can be a bit immature sometimes, but she knows they care about her and would do anything for her.

    7 Everyone Has A Matty

Jenna's first love is Matty, as we mentioned above, and she's definitely not over him. She will never get over him as long as she lives, so we're really hoping that the series finale will show them finally skipping off into the sunset together. It's only fair to us viewers who have stuck around and been hoping and dreaming along with Jenna. This show definitely proves that everyone has a Matty. You know -- that special person, usually an ex-boyfriend, who haunts you every single day, and who you always wonder if you have a second shot with.

6 It Shows That Things Change

A few episodes ago, Jenna and Matty took a road trip so he could start college a bit early, and that was basically the last time that things were the same for not only the couple but the rest of the gang, too. Soon everyone was dealing with the pressures of college and adulthood and trying to figure out how to deal when you're feeling super overwhelmed. Awkward believes that things change, and that it's pretty normal. You just have to accept that as a part of growing up.

5 It Gets Real About Friendship

You probably have had a lot of friendship break-ups or at least friendships that have changed (and not for the better) since high school. But friendship problems are pretty rare on TV shows, beyond, of course, the typical boy drama and having a crush on the same person. Awkward goes way above those traditional high school storylines and now is telling the story of Jenna and Tamara's changing friendship. They've been best friends since forever, but with Jenna at a hippie smart school and Tamara shopping and clubbing until she drops in New York City, they've grown apart. It's awesome that a show would get so real and honest about how much things can change within a friendship, even when you don't want them to.

4 It's Full Of Magical Moments

You've probably had some experiences where maybe at first, you didn't think that things would work out all that well, and then things turned around quickly and they were even better than you expected. That's what happened with Jenna's prom. She spilled and ruined her dress (#awkward) and had to find another dress and fast, and the only thing that was available was a super poofy yet beautiful wedding dress. She was freaked out at first but then embraced it and the moment ended up being pretty magical.

    3 It Knows Internships Suck

You've probably been an unpaid intern before and you probably didn't exactly have the time of your life. Pretty much everyone has to intern at some point, maybe during college, maybe after, and it's just not all that fun. Awkward totally gets how much internships suck, as evident by the latest storyline -- Jenna is interning at a start-up website that wants super personal writing but still seems to want click-bait articles. Jenna is definitely struggling, and that's just so relatable.

2 You've Been Put In A Weird Position

One perk of Jenna's internship? Her coworker is her ex Luke, a cute and super smart college boy that she briefly dated in-between obsessing about Matty back in high school. Of course, the two didn't waste any time getting back together, because every guy on the show is always into Jenna (you can't blame them, either, she's just so sweet and adorable). Luke puts her in a weird position, though, when he says they should keep their new romance on the downlow. She's not sure why, and feels pretty crappy, until she realizes that he doesn't want people to judge her at the office.

    1 It's Unpredictable

You're always waiting to see who Jenna will decide to be with, since she has a lot of boyfriends and crushes (okay, she's completely boy crazy). But most of all, Awkward is a really unpredictable show, and that's always when you wish a series would just go on forever. You never thought she would be with anyone but Matty this season, you never thought Jenna and Tamara would have some friendship issues, and you never expected Jenna's parents to be new parents again. But that's the beauty of life (and good TV): you just never know what's going to happen.
