14 Celebrities You Didn't Know Had Famous Parents
It seems to be every young person's dream - journeying to Hollywood and becoming a famous actor, or breaking into Broadway in New York, paying your dues and becoming famous. But some celebrities had a leg up with serious family connections. In some cases celebrities' kids are total mini-me's - have you seen Cindy Crawford's daughter Kaia? Or parents have starred alongside their children in movies, much like Jaden and Will Smith. Everyone knows that celebrity runs in the family with cases like these. But there are other instances where the talent apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but maybe it's a bit less obvious.
14 Dakota Johnson
Dakota Johnson, star of Fifty Shades of Grey and How to Be Single, has had quite the pool of acting genes to draw from. She is the daughter of actress Melanie Griffith, who has had a long running career in film, TV, and on the stage, and actor Don Johnson. She is the granddaughter of actress Tippie Hedren, star of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds and one of the actors in Charlie Chaplin's last film. Her mother Melanie was married to Antonio Banderas for almost two decades. It's a lot to live up to, but Dakota is also building quite the career, having starred in numerous films and TV shows, including with her mother and half-sister in Crazy and Alabama.
13 Lily Collins
Lily, star of The Mortal Instruments, and writer for various publications since her teens, is daughter to famous British musician Phil Collins. Phil had some success as a young actor, but gravitated towards music. He was in the band Genesis, and has also had a successful solo career - he's one of the world's best-selling artists, and has won numerous awards. “In the Air Tonight” and "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" are just two songs you might recognize, let alone the Disney tracks he's worked on -“You'll Be in my Heart” from Tarzan spent 19 weeks at Number one.

You may recognize Allison from her first major foray into acting, on the hit show Girls with Lena Dunham. While her parents aren't actors, and they insisted she graduated college before she pursued acting, you may still know them from their various roles in the media. Her father, Brian Williams, is a news anchor best recognized for NBC'S Nightly News, and appearances on shows such as The Daily Show, Saturday Night Live, and even Sesame Street. Her mother, Jane Stoddard Williams, is also an accomplished interviewer and journalist, and is host of the weekly Bloomberg EDU radio program.

Chris Pine has appeared in a variety of successful television shows, including ER, CSI: Miami, and Six Feet Under, but you may more readily recognize him from The Princess Diaries 2, and the reboot of Star Trek. He is also slated to star in Wonder Woman in 2017. His acting genes come from both of his parents, and one of his grandmothers. Father Robert Pine is best known as Sgt. Joseph Getraer on the television series CHiPs, but has also had roles in Days of Our Lives, and numerous other shows. Mother Gwynne Gilford has also starred in several television series, and grandmother Anne Gwynne is known as one of Hollywood's first scream queens, and was a popular pin-up in the 1940s.

Parks and Recreation star Rashida Jones is the daughter of model, singer, and actress Margaret Ann Lipton, who starred in TV shows The Mod Squad and in Twin Peaks, and of musician, composer, and producer Quincy Jones, whose career spans 6 decades, and who has won 28 Grammys. Quincy has worked with a number of famous artists, including Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, and Frank Sinatra, and produced The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. On African American Lives he had his ancestry traced - direct relatives include George Washington's sister Betty, and Edward I of England.

You likely know Kate Hudson from various rom-coms like How to Loose a Guy in 10 Days and Bride Wars. What you might not know is that you're also familiar with the work of her famous family members. Mom, Goldie Hawn began her career as a professional dancer, but is known for roles in Bird on a Wire, Death Becomes Her, and First Wives Club, among many others. Actor Kurt Russell, who Kate considers to be her father, has also starred in many films and TV series, and comes from an acting family himself - his father Bing played several famous television roles.

Jamie Lee Curtis has had quite the career, playing famous roles in Halloween and Charlie's Angels, and has paid homage to one of her mother's most famous scenes - the shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. Most recently Jamie Lee referenced the scene in the TV series Scream Queens, although she outsmarted the killer that time. Janet Leigh may be most famous for Psycho, but she also starred in films like Little Women, and Touch of Evil, and starred in two horror films with Jamie. Father Tony Curtis appeared in over 100 films during his career, including Spartacus, and Some Like it Hot.

Angelina, maybe now most famous for her humanitarian work and marriage to Brad Pitt, but remembered for her roles in Tomb Raider and Mr. and Mrs. Smith, is the daughter of actress and producer Marcheline Bertrand and actor Jon Voight. While Bertrand appeared in only a handful of roles, Voight, with whom Jolie was estranged for several years, has over 90 TV and film credits, including 24, National Treasure, Transformers, and Mission Impossible.

Rocker and actor Lenny Kravitz, famous for his recent role in The Hunger Games and songs like "American Woman" and "Fly Away" is the only child of Roxie Roker and Sy Kravitz. Acting is in her genes, as father Will Knightley is a stage actor and founding member of London's Half Moon Theatre, and mother Sharman Macdonald was an actress for several years before become a screenwriter and playwright, and has also written novels and radio plays.

Known now for lifestyle website Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow is also famous for her roles in movies like Shakespeare in Love, for which she earned an Oscar, Shallow Hal, and Iron Man. Some of her acting inspiration and talent comes from both of her parents. Father Bruce Paltrow was a director and producer, and mother Blythe Danner is an actress, having worked on stage and in films and TV, including on Will & Grace, and Meet the Parents and its sequels, opposite Robert De Niro.
