15 Celebs Who Totally Look Like Disney Characters
The past few years have brought a lot of live-action Disney movies and there are many more to come. We've already gotten a live-action Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Pete's Dragon, Alice in Wonderland, and Sleeping Beauty (Maleficent) and of course we have Once Upon a Time which has blessed us with many great actors and actresses playing classic Disney characters. It has just been announced that Donald Glover will be voicing Simba in the live-action Lion King remake directed by the director of The Jungle Book, John Favreau. So far, Disney is moving ahead with the production of more live-action remakes such as Aladdin, Snow White, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan (yes, another live-action remake), and Mulan but it looks like they may be skipping some of the others such as Bambi and Dumbo which is probably for the best because they would definitely bring us all to tears. However, there are a few of our favorite Disney movies that probably won't be made into a live-action film anytime soon (or ever) such as The Princess and the Frog, Pocahontas, or Frozen but that doesn't keep us from dreaming.
These are the actors who look a heck of a lot like classic Disney characters and while some of them would be perfect for the role, the others may not be the best choice. But, hey, you can't deny that they look pretty similar!
15 Kerry Washington and Princess Tiana
Kerry Washington has captivated viewers on the TV series Scandal as Olivia Pope and charmed many with her good looks, big smile, and no-nonsense personality. Washington has a knack for playing head-strong and resilient women in TV and film such as her portrayal of Della Bea Robinson in Ray and Anita Hill in the HBO film Confirmation. Let's be honest, she is a pretty bada** lady. Washington would be perfect for the part of Princess Tiana because Tiana is not just a princess--she is also an entrepreneur! In the amazing movie The Princess and the Frog, Tiana opens up a restaurant with the money she had saved through years and years of hard work and she also gets to marry a super handsome prince which is definitely a plus. Tiana is independent, resilient, and strong which pretty much describes Washington very well.
14 Isla Fisher and Ariel
This funny and beautiful actress is known for her comedy skills and contagious laugh… but she's also known for looking a lot like Amy Adams. The resemblance between Fisher and Adams is uncanny and while they were doing press for their movie Nocturnal Animals, Fisher claimed that she didn't mind being mistaken for her costar one bit. Still, there's another famous lady that Fisher looks a lot like. Ariel from The Little Mermaid is known for her long red hair and Fisher definitely shares that feature with the mermaid princess. A Little Mermaid movie has been in the works for a few years and Sofia Coppola was attached to the project for a good while before she dropped out for undisclosed reasons. Still, a Little Mermaid movie is definitely happening in the near future and Fisher would be totally perfect for the part.
13 Li Bingbing and Mulan
Li Bingbing is a Chinese actress who became famous for her role in Zhang Yuan's Seventeen Years and starred in the TV series Young Justice Bao. She is now known as an action actress and has starred in Resident Evil: Retribution and Transformers: Age of Extinction. Basically, she's a total bada**. The Chinese actress looks remarkably like the Chinese Disney princess who is one of the greatest Disney princesses because she's also a fierce warrior. Li would be perfect for the part of Mulan in the (eventual) live-action film adaptation but she might be a little too busy to take on the role. She is set to star in Realm, a new film from the mind of Stan Lee, as the first female Chinese superhero. We don't know when the movie will be released but the casting news was announced two years ago so, hopefully, it will be in theatres soon. Li is also starring in the Chinese-Australian sci-fi thriller Guardians of the Tomb which will be released in 2017.
12 Tom Welling and Prince Eric
This handsome Smallville hunk has been rumored to play Prince Eric in Once Upon a Time since the show started and it's obvious why so many people are adamant about him playing the Disney prince. It should be noted that before he became a superhero on Smallville, he was a successful model for Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein--as if the ridiculously high cheekbones and strong, masculine jaw didn't already give that away. With broad shoulders and intense green eyes, he definitely has the look of Prince Charming! Tom Welling has not done much with his acting career since he played Clark Kent on the enormously popular The WB/CW TV series which aired from 2001 until 2011 and his last film was Draft Day with Kevin Costner which was released in 2014. His film and TV appearances since 2011 have been few and far between but maybe he's ready for a return back to the silver screen?
11 Julianne Hough and Cinderella
The professional champion of ABC's Dancing with the Stars, Julianne Hough, has starred in her fair share of musicals such as the 2011 remake of Footloose, Rock of Ages with Tom Cruise, and as Sandy Young in Fox's live television presentation of Grease. Also, did you know that her first acting role was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone as a "Hogwarts Schoolgirl"? Well now you do! Hough definitely has the dancing skills to star in musicals and she's proven that she can sing and act so she's perfect to play a Disney princess. Though she looks a lot like Cinderella with her blue eyes and blonde hair, the role of Cinderella has already been claimed by Lily James who starred in the 2015 live-action remake. However, there have been countless Cinderella remakes over the years--one of the best being the one which stars Brandy as Cinderella. Maybe Hough will play the part when the next remake of the classic tale is released.
10 Julia Jones and Pocahontas
Julia Jones looks remarkably similar to one of the greatest Disney princess of all: Pocahontas. Unfortunately, since the real (and unsurprisingly bleak) story of the Powhatan "princess" has come to light since the animated film was released, it is unlikely that a live-action version will ever see the light of day which may be for the best since it doesn't exactly depict American Indians accurately. In real life, Pocahontas was about 10 years old when John Smith came to America and they were never romantically involved. As is depicted in Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World, she did marry John Rolfe in real life and was forced to change her name to Rebecca and wear English clothing. Though the true story of Pocahontas does not include cute animal sidekicks or musical numbers about the wind, Pocahontas was a real woman who struggled through British colonialism so a live-action film based on the story would be off brand for Disney.
9 Emma Stone and Princess Anna
With her wide smile and big eyes, Emma Stone could play almost any Disney Princess she wanted. However, it's safe to say that with her green eyes and long, ICONIC red hair, she definitely looks the most like Princess Anna from Frozen (though when Stone dyed her hair blond, she looked remarkably like Elsa). Stone would also be perfect for the part of Anna because she can totally sing, as she proves in La La Land. Also, Stone has the same effortless charm as the darling Disney princess. Since it was announced that there would be a Frozen musical on Broadway, there were many Stone fans who hoped she would play the part but, unfortunately, it was not meant to be. Broadway pro Patty Murin will play the part of Anna which is probably for the best. Though Stone can sing, she may not have the pipes for a Broadway musical.
8 Hannah Simone and Princess Jasmine
Hannah Simone definitely has the dark skin, long elegant nose, and the fiery attitude of Princess Jasmine. Simone is of Greek Cypriot descent and it is still up for debate exactly what nationality the characters in Aladdin are. In various versions of the original tale, imply that it actually takes place in China but it is also possible that it could have taken place in a Persian or Arabian setting. Since the actual country that Jasmine is the princess of, Agrabah, is not a real country, her nationality is up for debate. However, the casting call for the upcoming Guy Ritchie helmed adaptation of the classic tale includes the following: should be Middle Eastern, should be between the ages of 18 and 25, must be able to sing, dance experience is a plus. None of those descriptors exactly describe Simone but, hey, you can't deny that the New Girl star looks a lot like the princess!
7 Russell Brand and Captain Hook
English comedian, Russell Brand has become known for his bad-boy and, dare we say, villainous persona over the years, especially when he split from Katy Perry and news of his drug use and promiscuity began to leak out onto the internet. Brand has since sought help for his various addictions and has since apologized for numerous instances that he has ignited controversy such as when he said that he thought that the Nazis looked "f***ing fantastic" at the GQ Awards show in 2013. He was kicked out of the award show immediately after. He has had his fair share of controversies, to be sure, but he has definitely calmed down in the past few years but he definitely has the wild personality to play a Disney villain. Brand even channeled the Peter Pan villain in Annie Leibovitz's Disney Dream portraits in 2012. He may have come a long way from his distasteful persona but he still looks remarkably like the Disney villain.
6 Victoria Justice and Belle
Okay so we all know that Belle from Beauty and the Beast looks a lot like Emma Watson (since, you know, she played her in the movie and all) but there is an actress who looks a whole lot like the Disney princess as well. Victoria Justice is an actress but that's not all. She's also a singer which makes her even more like Belle. Justice started her career way back in 2005 on the Nickelodeon TV show Zoey 101. When Zoey 101 was canceled in 2008 (RIP), she then went to star in her own show Victorious (or VICTORiOUS, get it?) which also starred Ariana Grande. Even though Justice is truly a Nickelodeon girl at heart, she definitely looks like the Disney princess. With the same nose, toothy smile, and rosy cheeks as the Disney heroine, the two are practically twins.
5 Justin Bieber and Peter Pan
Despite all of the tattoos, Justin Bieber is the spitting image of the boy who never grew up mostly because, well, he never really grew up either. All jokes aside, Bieber totally has what it takes to be Peter Pan. Maybe it's his baby face and his general "spoiled teenager" attitude that makes him so much like the classic Disney character. After all, Peter Pan decided that he'd rather be a kid forever than grow up and live in the real world… maybe the same could be said for the former teenage heartthrob? The one big difference between the two is that Bieber has definitely grown up since the days of his iconic side-swept bangs. Teenage heartthrobs have to grow up in order to continue to be successful--just look at Justin Timberlake and Mark Wahlberg. Still, you can't deny that Bieber has the same boyish qualities as the mischievous young boy who never grows up.
4 Megan Fox and the Evil Queen
While many of us may have wished, as young girls, to grow up to be princesses, it's safe to say that a fair share of us have grown up wishing to be an evil queen. Why? Because they're bada**, that's why. The dark clothes, the dramatic eyebrows, and big crowns (who needs tiaras anyway?) are just about every girls' dream. The Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves is a no-nonsense bada** gal with an idgaf attitude and that is exactly what we like about her. Megan Fox has played villains in the past, such as her role in Jennifer's Body as a blood-sucking demon who feeds on her male classmates so she definitely has what it takes to be an evil queen. Besides, she's already played her fair share of heroes and it's time we see her in a villainous role again because she's really good at it. High cheekbones, check. Intense eyebrows, check. Piercing glare, check. Black hair, check. Check, check, check.
3 Michelle Williams and Tinker Bell
With her iconic blond pixie cut, of course Michelle Williams looks like the famous pixie Tinker Bell! In 2015, it was confirmed that Reese Witherspoon would be the force behind a brand new Tinker Bell movie for Disney but it has not been said yet if Witherspoon will be playing the lead role. Williams would be perfect for the part of the fairy in the live-action fairy tale film because of her slender figure, blonde hair, and rosy cheeks. Ever since she chopped all her hair off, she's had the look of a fairy. Though Williams has generally played harrowing and tragic characters over the course of her career, it would be a good change of pace for the actress to play a spunky gal like Tinker Bell. The new Tinker Bell movie is sure to be a big success because this pixie is super relatable. Remember in Peter Pan that she basically needs attention or she'll die? Honestly, same.
2 Leighton Meester and Snow White
Like Cinderella, there have been many actresses who have played Snow White over the years since the Walt Disney classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was released way back in 1937. Recently, Lily Collins played the role of the famous Disney princess in the 2012 film Mirror, Mirror and Kristen Stewart played a variation of the princess in Snow White and the Huntsman which was released the same year but the two movies are very different. Leighton Meester falls somewhere in between the sugary sweet Lily Collins and the intense Kristen Stewart in regards to actresses who could play Snow White. This Gossip Girl has the same dark hair, brown eyes, and big smile of the charming princess. We also know that she can sing (remember Cobra Starship's "Good Girls Go Bad"?) so that is just another thing that she and Snow White have in common.
1 Amanda Seyfried and Rapunzel
Amanda Seyfried has certainly grown up a lot since she played a high schooler in Mean Girls (she was 19 in 2004) and a high schooler again in Jennifer's Body when she was 24! She still has the same baby face she's had for years which helps her pass for a young girl in various films. She still looks like she could play a high schooler and she's 31-years-old! Must be nice, right? She has the same big green eyes, long blonde hair, and round face as the Tangled princess with the same spunky personality. Also, we know she can sing because of her roles in musicals such as Les Miserables and Mamma Mia! The story of Rapunzel has been told for centuries but the Disney movie Tangled is the most popular retelling by a long-shot and while a live-action Tangled movie is not currently in the works, we can always hope that we will be able to see it on the big screen one day.
