15 Celebs You Never Knew Had Kids
Celebrities and their children are a bit of an interesting issue. Some celebrities thrust their children into the spotlight almost the minute they're born, letting them appear alongside them on reality television shows and in photo shoots. Others are a bit more reserved - they'll happily chat about their antics on late night talk show appearances, but tend to draw the line at actually letting the paparazzi swarm their child. And then, there are the celebrities who seem to think that their children have absolutely nothing to do with their career in the entertainment industry, and should not be subject to the craziness of that world. They absolutely adore their children, of course, but they try their hardest to keep their children's lives private. As a result, while there are some celebrity kids who the public is already on a first name basis with (just think North, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's daughter), there are other celebrities you may not even known had kids.
Whether or not to expose their children to the press is a decision that each celebrity must make for themselves, and there are a lot of factors in each situation (such as if the child is the product of an earlier union, and isn't with the celeb in question full time), but at the end of the day - we're all kind of curious. Here are 15 celebs you didn't know had kids.
15 Max Greenfield
Max Greenfield became well known to audiences everywhere after snagging the role of Schmidt in New Girl, but in pretty much every role he's been in, he frequently plays a hilarious, quirky guy, so the thought of him having children is a little bit strange. I mean, can you imagine Schmidt being responsible for raising a child? However, in real life, Greenfield is a lot different from his on-screen persona, and is actually a dedicated father of two! He and wife Tess Sanchez have two children, a daughter named Lilly and a baby boy named Ozzie. We can't help but wonder if he and New Girl co-star Zooey Deschanel ever have play dates together with their respective tots. His wife is also in the entertainment industry - she is a casting director - so while they've kept their kids out of the spotlight for the time being, if those children ever decide they want to try their hand at acting, they have some experts to guide them.
14 Jemima Kirke
Jemima Kirke's character on the HBO hit Girls, Jessa, is a wild child who definitely isn't ready to settle down with anyone, let alone to be a mother responsible for raising children. However, in real life, Kirke actually has two children! She married lawyer Michael Mosberg when she was in her mid 20s, and had her daughter Rafaella and son Memphis shortly after, before she hit her 30th birthday. Last month, Kirke and Mosberg announced that they had separated, so their parenting will likely look a little bit different. Kirke has kept her kids out of the spotlight for now, but given how creative she is and what a creative family she comes from, we wouldn't be surprised if Rafaella and Memphis started making their mark on the entertainment industry or the art world at young ages, just like Kirke's co-star Lena Dunham did with her first indie film Tiny Furniture.
13 Heather Morris
Audiences around the world fell in love with blonde bombshell Heather Morris the moment she appeared on the hit television show Glee, because she was a breath of fresh air - her character was, well, a bit dumb, but hilarious at the same time. While she was a member of the main cast for several seasons of the show, she had to be written out for a while when she was pregnant with her first son, Elijah. She took a bit of time off to focus on parenting, and ended up returning to the show for the final season. She's since had a second son, a baby boy named Barlett. For those who really only know Morris from Glee, it can be baffling to think that she's one of the few cast members who has children in real life, but it's true. Honestly, Morris is probably a fantastic mom - and those kids will have crazy dance skills!
12 Idris Elba
Idris Elba is best known for his role in the television series Luther, and also for his countless sexy photo shoots and magazine covers. However, when he's not in front of the camera doing his job, he's prepping snacks and putting away toys and doing his job as a dad. Turns out, Elba actually has two children! He has a teenage daughter, Isan, from his first marriage to make-up artist Hanne Norgaard. And then, in 2014, his then-girlfriend Naiyana Garth gave birth to a baby boy, making Elba a father of two. Since his children are the products of women he has since split with, we assume Elba and his former loves split custody of the kids - but still, he likely puts in his fair share of dad time, in between filming movies and television shows. We can't help but feel like he's basically the dictionary definition of a DILF (although many of the male celebs on this list are).
11 Tom Hardy
Heartthrob Tom Hardy has been earning his fair share of fans on the big screen thanks to his countless movie roles over the years, but in his time away from set, he's the busy dad of two little boys. His first child, Louis, was born in 2008 with then girlfriend Rachael Speed. His second son was born just two years ago, in 2015, with his wife Charlotte Riley. So, in between making red carpet appearances as a successful movie star, Hardy is likely crawling around on the floor playing with race cars and Lego blocks as a dad to two rambunctious boys. Whether it's because of the roles he plays or because he's not too eager to reveal anything about his personal life, for some reason, the news that he's a devoted dad is a bit surprising. And with two boys and a career that frequently takes him around the world, he's probably got his hands full.
10 Alexis Bledel
Most people were introduced to Alexis Bledel through her seasons playing the brainy Rory Gilmore on the hit television series Gilmore Girls. And while she recently returned to the role of Rory after several years away, courtesy of the Netflix reboot, she's also starred in several films and television shows like Mad Men. In fact, it was on the HBO hit show that she met her now husband Vincent Kartheiser, who played Pete Campbell on the show. Bledel has always been slim and gorgeous, and somehow, she managed to conceal from the eager paparazzi that she was expecting. She definitely wasn't the type to sell her baby boy's first photos to a tabloid - in fact, her representative only confirmed that she had, in fact, given birth to her first child in May 2016 - and her son was born several months earlier, in fall 2015. We've got to hand it to Bledel - she values her privacy, and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure it's maintained.
9 Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
Chances are, you've seen The Rock's crazy early morning work-outs, or have been watching as his physique only gets bigger and better with each movie he appears in. Once upon a time, Johnson was just another wrestler, and then he broke into the entertainment industry, and now is at the helm of a production company working on movies, television shows, and much more. He's an incredibly talented, busy man, and while he always makes time for his work-outs, there's another important thing he fits into his schedule - his children! With his former wife Dany Garcia, Johnson has a teenage daughter, Simone, who was born in 2001 (we know - he doesn't look old enough to have a 16 year old!). He also has a daughter, Jasmine, with his current partner Lauren Hashian (you may have seen her in a few of his Instagram shots, if you follow the star). Seriously - he may be one of the buffest dads in the entire universe.
8 Rainn Wilson
Fans of The Office know that Dwight Schrute, played by actor Rainn Wilson, is a bit of an odd duck - and Rainn Wilson is also quite the interesting guy in real life. However, did you know that he's a dad? Despite being on the main cast of a hugely popular sitcom for years and years, Wilson has largely stayed out of the spotlight, preferring to live a quiet life with wife Holiday Reinhorn. That's why not many people know that he's actually a dad - his son, Walter, was born in 2004. Their private life is about as anti-Hollywood as you might expect. The Wilson family have homes in Agoura Hills, California, and Sisters, Oregon, and have a herd of animals included pot-bellied pigs. He's a proud member of the Baha'i faith, and when he's not making films, he's parenting his teenage son Walter. No one could accuse Wilson of having a boring life, that's for sure!
7 Matt LeBlanc
Perhaps it's because audiences got to know him best as the lovable Joey Tribbiani on the hit sitcom Friends, and it's tough to separate LeBlanc as an actor from the character he played for ten seasons, but nonetheless - it's a bit surprising to hear that LeBlanc is a dad. However, he is - his daughter, Marina Pearl, was born in 2004. When she was a child, she had several health issues, but fortunately appears to have fully healed since then and is just a happy teenager spotted with her famous father every now and then. Thankfully, the paparazzi aren't as interested in LeBlanc now as they may have been if Friends were on the air today, so he's able to live a relatively private life (at least, in comparison to some of the other actors out there). In our minds, LeBlanc is the consummate bachelor, so seeing him with a daughter is both unexpected and adorable.
6 John Cho
John Cho got his start in the world of comedy, playing MILF Guy No. 2 in the American Pie films, and Harold in the Harold & Kumar films. However, he didn't limit himself to comedic roles - he's also played Sulu in the Star Trek reboot series. He always seems so suave, so while he married actress Kerri Higuchi over a decade ago, back in 2006, you might assume that they're just a super stylish DINK couple. That's not the case, though - Cho actually has two children, a son who was born in 2008, and a daughter who was born in 2013. Cho continues to speak out about the role of Asian-Americans in Hollywood, and continues to try to find roles that are meaningful amongst the roles that offer comedic relief. It's safe to say he's a pretty fantastic role model for his young kids - plus, who doesn't want to brag that their dad was in the Star Trek reboot?
5 James Marsden
You likely recognize James Marsden as, well, the love interest - he's played several interesting roles, such as President John F. Kennedy in The Butler, but he's best known for playing the goofy love interest in shows like 30 Rock, and chick flicks like 27 Dresses. Well, we hate to break it to you ladies, but James Marsden isn't quite the bachelor that he portrays on film - in relief life, he's actually a father of three. He was married to actress Mary Elizabeth “Lisa” Linde for about a decade, and during that time, had two children with Linde - a son named Jack and a daughter named Mary. He dated Rose Costa for a while, and has another son, William Costa-Marsden, from that union. He's been dating a British singer named Edei for the past little while, so who knows - perhaps baby number four will be on the way shortly. He's certainly got his hands full!
4 Norman Reedus
Even if you don't watch the hit zombie drama The Walking Dead, chances are, you know who Norman Reedus is. He's been acting for quite a while, but his role as Daryl Dixon on the show officially catapulted him to superstardom. All of a sudden, audiences everywhere were obsessed with Reedus, and once the show wraps, we have a feeling he'll have his pick of meaty roles. However, something you may not have known is that he's actually a dad. Way back in the late 1990s/early 2000s, Reedus had a long-term relationship with supermodel Helena Christensen. The duo dated for about five years, and during that time, they had a son - Mingus Lucien Reedus. They've obviously split since then, but maintain custody of their son, who is now a stunning 17 years old! With parents like Helena Christensen and Norman Reedus, we can't help but think that we'll be seeing some incredible things from Mingus, should he choose to try his hand in the entertainment industry.
3 Keira Knightley
Keira Knightley has dated several actors over the years, including Jamie Dornan and Rupert Friend, but eventually found true love with a musician, James Righton of the Klaxons. The duo were married in 2013, and in 2015, welcomed their first child into the world - a daughter named Edie. Despite being a huge star, Knightley has always kept her private life out of the tabloids. Sure, they'll spot her out on errands in London or on the red carpet, but she's never been the type of spill too much about her personal life. As a mom, she's maintained that attitude, keeping her daughter out of the spotlight and focusing on raising her as a regular mom, not as an A-List celebrity who has appeared in countless box office smash hits. Knightley hasn't been outspoken about her plans for the future, but who knows - perhaps she'll end up having a lovely British brood of children.
2 Colin Hanks
Everyone knows Colin Hanks' famous father, Tom Hanks, but the younger Hanks has been making a name of his own in the entertainment industry as an actor. However, though he may always kind of seem like a kid himself thanks to the presence of his larger than life father, Tom is no longer just a father - he's a grandfather! Colin Hanks married former publicist Samantha Bryant in 2010, and they've since welcomed two daughters, Olivia and Charlotte. Hanks even joked after the birth of his first child that “they [Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson] cannot wait to just dote on this kid with every single fiber of their being.” Perhaps it's because he's still got a bit of a baby face, perhaps it's because he's always seen as the younger Hanks, but still - it's a little bit crazy to think that Colin is a father of two beautiful girls!
1 Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson has carved out an identity as a bit of a bombshell in Hollywood. Yes, she has starred in meatier flicks like Lost in Translation and Lucy, but many of her roles do play up her sex appeal because, well, she's absolutely gorgeous! As many who follow her personal life will know, she was once married to Canadian cutie Ryan Reynolds, and eventually found love with French ad agency owner Romain Dauriac. The two went through a whirlwind romance, from engaged to separated within the span of about three years, and there's one thing that will keep them connected even though they're no longer romantically involved - their daughter, Rose. That's right - Scarlett Johansson is a mother. It's a little bit tough to believe considering how quickly she bounced back into amazing shape, and how closely she has guarded daughter Rose's privacy, but it's true. ScarJo is officially a hot mom.
