15 Co-Stars You Never Knew Actually Got It On
Is there anything juicier than celebrity hookups? When the cast of Entourage appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, stars Kevin Connolly, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Dillon, and Adrian Grenier all admitted they had hooked up with extras on the show. According to the cast, they were sleeping around with people who only knew them by the name of their own characters. So just how common are on-set hookups? Ask anyone in Hollywood and they will tell you most TV shows have quite the incestuous cast.
The average TV show takes one week to shoot just one episode, depending on the show. An average day spent shooting is 10-12 hours long, so as you can imagine many of the stars get to spend a lot of time together and what better way to pass the time? Just like any typical office romance - if there's natural chemistry there then it's often impossible to keep your hands off each other. Stars don't have to wait till the annual Christmas party to hook up as they are often placed in hotel rooms or have a trailer where it's easy enough to slip away and get freaky.
These are some of those romances that might have slipped under the radar. They have tried to keep it quiet as it's the golden rule of the screen: What happens on set, stays on set.
15 Julia Roberts & Matthew Perry (Friends)
Last year marked twenty years since Julia Roberts' character, Susie Moss, in Friends told Matthew Perry's Chandler, "Why don't you call me in 20 years and tell me if you're still upset about this," when she stole his clothes from a toilet cubicle. Following their scenes together on the show, the two had enough natural chemistry to start dating off-screen and were spotted out together in L.A.
Sadly, it was not meant to be and the pair split. Perry later admitted to being dependent on drink and drugs for 30 years and when his addiction was at its worst he would drink two pints of vodka a day. He told The Hollywood Reporter, "The best thing about me is that an alcoholic can come up to me and say 'can you help me?' and I can say 'yes I can.' The fact that I'm on TV makes people listen a little bit more, and I take advantage of that."
14 Mark-Paul Gosselaar & Lark Voorhies (Saved By The Bell)
Saved By The Bell only ran for three years but gave 90s kids enough pop culture references to last a lifetime. The school days of Screech, Slater, Lisa, Jessie, Zack, and Kelly has us all glued to the TV set. Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who plays the loveable Zack Morris on the show, revealed to HuffPost Live that being on the show was pretty much like high school, he said, "Sometimes the girls would gang up on the guys. Tiffani and Elizabeth would hate me, and then they'd hate Lark because Lark was talking to me, and Mario was supposed to side with someone. All that stuff you did in high school, like, 'How could you talk to him?'"
As it turns out, Mark and Lark (who plays Lisa Turtle on the show) were doing a little bit more than just "talking" and the two secretly hooked up behind the scenes. Well, this brief romance is staying on the playing field as the pair didn't continue the romance after the show.
13 Will Smith & Tyra Banks (The Fresh Prince of Bel Air)
Another pop culture classic was The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. The show launched the career of Will Smith and also gave us the hilarious Carlton dance, which everyone feels like recreating after one too many drinks. A little known fact about the show is that before Smith settled with the love of his life, Jada Pinkett-Smith, he hooked up with one his co-stars.
America's Next Top Model host Tyra Banks starred as Smith's love interest for eight episodes and the two decided to make fiction a reality off-screen as well. Then in 1995, Smith's future wife and mother of his children joined the show and he left Banks behind. The couple married two years later and now live at a California ranch with their three children (one son from Smith's previous relationship) and four rottweilers.
12 Evangeline Lily & Dominic Monaghan (Lost)
Lost's Evangeline Lily and Dominic Monaghan didn't play on screen lovers but off screen it was a whole different story. The two stars hooked up during filming and managed to make the romance last three years - practically a lifetime in celebrity land. Then everything appeared to turn a bit sour when Monaghan put out a few bizarre tweets about his ex.
The Hobbit star replied to a fan's tweet that read: "Evangeline looked unreal in the Hobbit , man oh man" with, "Nah. I don't date cheaters." When everyone jumped on the tweet asking if it was true Lily had cheated, he replied with, "If I'm a douche because you don't like what I say that's not my concern. But I don't choose to lie on twitter #truthhurts." Nothing better than celebrity Twitter drama.
11 Leighton Meester & Sebastian Stan (Gossip Girl)
Gossip Girl was a show full of drama and the cast members clearly carried that on after the cameras had stopped rolling. Leighton Meester and Sebastian Stan met on set when they played the characters Blair Waldorf and Carter Baizan. The two hooked up and Meester allegedly wrote about the "joker" on the track Heartstrings.
During an intimate performance of the song at the Apple Store in Soho, New York, she revealed, "It used to be about some stupid breakup that I had when I was 25 or earlier. (She dated Stan when she was 24-years-old). But it was stupid, and I was like, 'I have to write a song about this!' Now, it really does have more meaning. At the time it was like,' Screw you, I don't care about you anymore, and it's not going to happen! Joker.'" Whatever happened between the two - we all really want to know.
10 Barry Williams & Maureen McCormick (The Brady Bunch)
They may have played siblings on 70s comedy show The Brady Bunch but Barry Williams and Maureen McCormick were secretly romancing each other. On a blog post for Xfinity, McCormick wrote about her admiration for her former lover and co-stars, she said, "He has always reminded me of a younger Tom Jones. Both have curly hair, sex appeal and the ability to shake it. Back when we did the Brady variety show, he was very into it. He took it more seriously than anyone. In fact, he was so angry at me because I wasn't into it. He thought the two of us could be another Donny and Marie."
Sadly the Donny and Marie act was not meant to be and the two went their separate ways. Williams married and divorced three times and McCormick got wed in 1985 and the marriage is still going strong.
9 Sara Gilbert & Johnny Galecki (Roseanne)
Roseanne co-stars Johnny Galecki and Sara Gilbert played boyfriend and girlfriend on-screen and they continued to date off the script too. On The Talk, Gilbert revealed that she discovered she was gay when she was dating Galecki. She said, "I thought he was super cute and had a crush on him. We started dating, and he would come over and we would, like, make out, and then I would start to get depressed."
Gilbert decided to come out as gay to Galecki and she was moved by his support. She said, "He was like, 'Of course. I love you, and I think it's really important and I'm so proud of you. If you want, I will be there, and I will hold your hand.' It was so sweet, and you know, this story really makes Johnny look good."
8 Jennifer Garner & Michael Vartan (Alias)
Before Jennifer Garner married Ben Affleck and became one half of the famous "Bennifer", she fell for her Alias co-star, Michael Vartan. The brief romance didn't work out and Vartan told USA Today, "We're much better off as friends." He added, "Jennifer and I were best friends first, during (the romance) and after. I'm hoping Ben will put me in one of his next movies."
There's not much chance of Vartan getting a role from Affleck now as he has divorced Garner after twelve years of marriage. Although the couple never spoke publicly of their split, there were rumors of an affair with the nanny but these have not been confirmed. In the words of his ex-girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow, she said, "(Affleck) would be better off dating a Scores stripper."
7 Michael C. Hall & Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter)
Dexter stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter was so tight-lipped about their relationship that they even tied the knot in secret. They eloped to California on New Year's Eve in 2008 but just two years later they divorced after separating for "quite some time." Then, something we would all hate to do happened - the divorced couple had to continue working together on the show for two more years.
The split hurt Carpenter who broke down in tears during a Dexter farewell event, she told the press, "Our marriage didn't look like anyone else's, and our divorce didn't either, so… I said it before, just because the marriage ended doesn't mean the love did." Then as she began to cry, she continued, "I'm crying. It's an awkward thing to talk about your personal life in front of a bunch of strangers, but there's nothing but love and respect (between us). Nothing."
6 Shannon Doherty & Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills, 90210)
Beverly Hills, 90210 was never without drama - both on and off screen. Actress Jennifer Garth, who starred as Kelly on the show, wrote in her tell-all book, Deep Thoughts From a Hollywood Blonde, "I don't know why it is, but there is a universal truth that when you put three teenage girls together, some serious s**t is going to go down."
Alongside fighting over the script, there was also tension whenShannon Doherty started secretly dating her co-star, Jason Priestley. Their co-star Tori Spelling then got Doherty fired from the set - her father, Aaron Spelling, co-produced the show and all it took was one phone call from his daughter to end her rival character. Other crew members claimed Doherty was notoriously difficult on the set and that at one point she and Spelling even got into a physical fight with each other. Like we said - there was always plenty of drama.
5 Katie Holmes & Joshua Jackson (Dawson's Creek)
They melted our hearts as Joey and Pacey on Dawson's Creek but Joshua Jackson and Katie Holmes couldn't make their secret fling work in reality. Fans of the show had a moment of hope last year when single- girl Holmes was rumored to have been in touch with newly-divorced Jackson - who ended his marriage to Diane Kruger after ten years.
Life & Style magazine reported, "Katie and Josh have a lot more in common, (they both) share a love for great films, theater, and even fashion. He trusts her completely and (her friends) all love him, and Katie and Josh realize what they have is rare and very special." 20 years a long time apart so if the pair were to rekindle their romance it would take some work - we have our fingers crossed for them both.
4 Milo Ventimiglia & Hayden Panettiere (Heroes)
What happens when you put two devastatingly beautiful actors together for a hit TV show - of course, they are going to start getting it on just like Heroes co-stars, Milo Ventimiglia and Hayden Panettiere. The age difference between them at the time they hooked up was 12 years - Panettiere was 19-years-old and Ventimiglia was 31-years-old.
According to People magazine, Panettiere's mother even gave the relationship a big thumbs up as they reported, "Hayden's mom adores Milo. She thinks he's so cute. She tells her friends that he's her boyfriend. She's very proud." Sadly, as reported at the time by US Weekly, the couple couldn't work with the age difference as Panettiere wanted to party - as young people do - and Ventimiglia preferred to concentrate on his production company.
3 Charlie Heaton & Natalia Dyer (Stranger Things)
Fans of last year's smash hit Netflix TV series Stranger Things will squeal with joy when they find out that secretly co-stars Charlie Heaton and Natalia Dyer are dating. An insider told Life & Style, "They've been together since before Season 2 of the Netflix series began filming in October. They're inseparable, and spend nearly every waking minute together, on set and off."
When Dyer was questioned by a TMZ reporter outside LAX airport, she coyly brushed off the rumors and answered, "Whether people are dating or hanging out, I think that our cast just is cool with each other. I mean, I won't speak for anybody else but it's been, you know… We're all one big family." We've heard the "just good friends" excuse a thousand times before and can't wait for this one to be confirmed as official.
2 Jennifer Aniston & Paul Rudd (Friends)
A little-known fact about Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd is the two first kissed when they were 12-years-old. Then years later, Rudd joined the cast of Friends as Phoebe's third husband, Mike. Although the script called for Rudd to fall in love with Kudrow's character, behind the scenes he rekindled his childhood romance with Aniston.
In 2012, the pair starred together for the comedy Wanderlust and signed up as on-screen lovers. During a joint interview with GQ magazine, when asked, "Being such longtime friends, is it weird to kiss on-screen?" Aniston replied, "Nah. I've kissed him for years" and Rudd added, "We've made out for decades." Is this the cutest ex-hookup goals ever or what? Nowadays, Rudd is celebrating 14 years of marriage to his wife and Aniston married actor Justin Theroux in 2015.
1 Mark-Paul Gosselaar & Tiffani Thiessen (Saved By The Bell)
It's the relationship we all dreamed of - Saved By The Bell's Kelly Kapowski and Zack Morris together in real-life. Well, it actually did happen - however, actress Tiffani Thiessen, who plays Kelly, revealed that it was kind of going on between everyone. She revealed, "Did we have crushes on our costars? Absolutely. But we were so young! All of us dated at one point or another - it was incestuous!"
Thiessen did have good news - she will reunite with her co-star on the cooking show, Dinner at Tiffani's. She told US Weekly, "I believe the most wanted and anticipated (reunion on the cooking channel). My old (Saved By the Bell) co-star Mark-Paul Gosselaar and his wife, will be on the show." It's the words "and his wife" that will have excited fans deflated - we all know these two former Bayside High lovers are meant to be together.
