15 Most Cringe-Worthy Scenes On 'Teen Mom'

The Teen Mom franchise is like a car crash, it's hard to look away. And let's be real for a second, none of these girls are walking away with a reputation unscathed. Whether it's the original Teen Mom cast or the girls on Teen Mom 2, there's always tons of drama and poor judgment, caught on and off the camera. Maybe that's why we still follow the lives of these girls, even now that these “teen moms” are in fact, mid-twenty-something moms.

While we're being real, this reality-TV show doesn't care about the influence on its audience. Dr. Drew likes to say that the show exists to combat unplanned pregnancy among teenage girls. We not only side-eye him when he says that, we have to roll our eyes big time. It takes a bit of detective work to see just how much damage is being caused to the kids by this hot mess that MTV likes to call educational entertainment. It was really shocking what we learned while making this list. Just when you thought they wouldn't stoop any lower, read below for the 15 most cringe-worthy moments on Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2. You'll be surprised by what these girls get away with.

15 When Maci hid her pregnancy, lied and staged scenes

Maci used to be perceived by many as the most responsible of all the teen moms, maybe that's why the allegations that she knowingly drank while pregnant is so disappointing. There's been a rumor going around that MTV gives the girls bonuses for having more kids. This makes us wonder how many of her three unplanned pregnancies were really unplanned. We just don't believe her when she says that she only found out that she was pregnant with her third child when she was around 5 months along! After doing some digging, we found evidence, catching Maci in her lie. According to an article on radaronline.com, “In February, Bookout told Us Weekly that she found out about her third pregnancy at the doctor, not at home with McKinney.” But, “During the season premiere… " they both acted like they were seeing a positive test for the first time. We're not exactly sure when the season premiere was filmed, but even if it was the same day as her doctor appointment, she still faked the scene because she would have already known. She was either lying when she spoke to Us Weekly or she was acting when she peed on a stick during the filming of the season premiere, and let's face it, her acting sucked! She's no Meryl Streep, but she did a good job of strategically wearing loose fitting-clothing and of only posting pictures that hid her bump while she chugged down beer during the first half of her pregnancy!

14 When Miranda sat across from Leah and Corey after the alleged cheating

Does anyone else remember that hella awkward scene on Teen Mom 2, when Miranda came into the restaurant where Corey and Leah met to talk about the kids, and Miranda sat across from them the whole time? Without knowing the whole story it seemed really weird. But now we know it's even more cringe-worthy than it appeared! During one of the Dr. Drew episodes, Leah implied that Corey had cheated on Miranda with her. If we look back at some older episodes, it isn't actually that much of a surprise. We already knew that Leah is a serial cheater, and there was some shady stuff going on when Corey first starting dating Miranda which might have foreshadowed the alleged cheating. Remember when Leah was considering getting back with Corey while she was pregnant with Jeremy's kid, this was the one she says that she miscarried. Corey kept telling her he would consider getting back together if only she wasn't pregnant. Then when she told him about the miscarriage, Corey had apparently changed his mind about getting back together and we're guessing it might be because things were getting more serious with Miranda. We're not certain about the timeline because MTV shows some episodes out of chronological order, but it seemed like it wasn't that much longer before Leah and Jeremy were expecting again. Shady might be an understatement.

13 Pretty much anything Janelle has ever done

Every aspect of Janelle Evans life is a wreck. It's very sad to see how she lets her son Jace down. The unhealthy dynamic with her mother seems to be on some kind of loop and she never ceases to amaze when it comes to her terrible taste in men. We found the scenes with her roommates to be particularly cringe-worthy. Has anyone kept count of the amount of times Janelle has moved? At one point it really felt like she had a different living arrangement and roommate every other episode! One roommate fiasco, started with Janelle telling her mom that her new roommate was going to be such a great influence. The roommate was in school, and bonus, she was also a young mom so Janelle was sure they'd be a great fit. The problem? They were both dating guys with criminal records. Because of the condition not to be around other criminals, Janelle told her roommate that she couldn't have her boyfriend over. The roommate pointed out the hypocrisy; Janelle was fine with being around Keifer when the cameras weren't around. Janelle made the poor girl move out with all her stuff! Janelle even had a friend there to help bully the girl as she packed up.  Then she made the girl take the sweater off that she was wearing! Making a big scene about how the sweater belonged to her. On the list of horrible things that Janelle Evans has done, this is actually low, but when the roommate started to cry, it was hard to watch.

12 When Amber says anything about Matt

We were initially rooting for Amber, especially right after she got out of jail and by all accounts seemed to have turned her life around. But then she started dating Matt, and our hope that she had finally learned to put her daughter first went down the drain. How many lies does this guy have to get caught in before Amber cuts him loose? On her YouTube channel The Grace Report exposed Matt's lie about his tattoo that he had covered up. That whole tattoo fiasco started when a scene was aired on Teen Mom showing Matt getting a cover-up and acting VERY shady. He tried to block the camera from seeing him and when it was too late he made up a story about the tat being related to some drug-related mistake. Turns out the tattoo was the name of an ex-girlfriend in a different language. Are we even surprised anymore when someone who has at least seven secret children lies to us? Amber must be getting used to it too… When she does interviews she always has a bunch of excuses for Matt's blatant lies

11 Kailyn's serial cheating

The rumors surrounding Kailyn Lowry's cheating started way back during some of the earliest episodes of Teen Mom and continue until this day. She's been said to have cheated on her baby daddy Joe with her boyfriend Jordan, then she cheated on Jordan with Joe. Fast forward to recent times, her marriage to Javi seems to be over and the cheating allegations are abundant. Jordan is even back in the mix with these newer rumors! There was a twitter exchange between Kailyn and Jordan that thehollywoodgossip.com reported on. Jordan tweeted her about the great time they had catching up recently, Kailyn played dumb at first and then tweeted “interesting”. We're not sure what to think about all of that, but we do remember that cringe-worthy episode way back when Kailyn accused Joe of giving her an STI. Jordan was sitting with her during one of those pseudo-therapy “special” episodes and Joe was there too. It seemed Jordan was willing to forgive Kailyn but she decided to see if Joe wanted to get back together with her first! When Joe said he didn't want to (and advised Jordan that he shouldn't either) only then did Kailyn turn her attention back to poor Jordan! No wonder he felt like her backup plan. We felt really bad for him while watching that hot mess of an episode!

10 When Maci got drunk and badgered Taylor about proposing

Before the drama over her third pregnancy, there was the drama over her wanting Taylor to propose. One scene captured by MTV showed Maci knocking back a few, while her and Taylor seemed to be on a double date. The subject of kids come up, at this point, Maci had recently welcomed her second child, daughter Jayde. When their friends are asked if they'll be expecting any time soon, the male friend turns the question around on Maci and Taylor, asking if they'll be getting engaged anytime soon. Maci takes the bait and becomes visibly upset. She even says something to the effect of, "People call Taylor a piece of sh*t for not proposing yet." She also made comments about him making her "an honest woman". Taylor demands to know who exactly called him names and why. Maci kind of backtracks at this point, saying some people think he should have proposed by now, but it definitely sounded like she was the one thinking that in that moment, and that maybe her heavy drinking has been causing her to have a lot less of a filter. While we can understand that she really wanted to marry Taylor, that scene was hard to watch, because the way she went about getting what she wanted was totally cringe worthy.

9 When Leah tried to hide a substance problem

Leah's attempt to hide her struggle with addiction was often heartbreaking to watch, but it's her girls that we have to save our empathy for. MTV seemed to paint Corey as the bad guy a lot of the time, but as much as they tried to blame anxiety and exhaustion for Leah's downward spiral, it became painfully obvious that she was abusing prescription drugs. There were even moments when the twins complained about not getting fed breakfast… And does anyone else remember that scene when Leah almost dropped a baby she was holding because it seemed Leah was nodding off? Her appearance changed drastically too, she just looked like she was on drugs. She admitted to taking something for her anxiety but claimed that she got off it quickly due to the side effects. There was that one episode, during her custody battle with Corey, where she got the results back from a drug test. She looked nervous AF! When the lawyer explained that no drugs were found in her system she said that she, of course, knew that, but who was she really trying to convince?

8 Tyler and Butch during the bachelor party

Watching Tyler's bachelor party made us a little queasy. His father, the ex-con called “Butch” makes our skin crawl. If seeing Butch get a lap dance and make disgusting jokes wasn't creepy enough, Tyler's face while he got his dance was what made us really uncomfortable. It seems it made Catelynn uncomfortable too. The editing probably didn't help things, but watching a tipsy Catelynn storm into the club yelling that she's just “there to see her man” was hard to watch. It turned out of course that she wasn't there to argue with him but to sit on his lap affectionately, but still-for a moment she totally looked like a jealous partner about to cause a scene. After Tyler got his dance from a worker with very short hair, all the other girls began to swarm him and he had to keep telling them that he was done. While hilarious, it was also kind of cringe-worthy. Doesn't Tyler know that it's tacky to have your bachelor party at a gentleman's club if you and/or your crew aren't going to make it rain for the girls. You even had the camera crew in there so why not go all out? Very uncool. It was also very awkward when Tyler's sister told Catelynn that she used to work as a dancer and warned Cate about how some of those girls would be all up on Cate's fiancée.

7 Farrah's quest to get married

Unlike a lot of the other Teen Mom girls, Farrah hasn't had a long list of boyfriends while filming Teen Mom, but when she has been filmed dating, she often comes off desperate when she talks about marriage with boyfriends. The most recent would be with her boyfriend Simon. She was even filmed saying that waiting to get married is for ugly girls. This is one confused person! Someone please explain to Farrah that marriage is about finding your team mate and best friend and for people who love each other for both the inside and out? Plastic surgery is something almost all the Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2 girls have in common… That and low-self esteem. A lot of people hate on Farrah and call her the worst Teen Mom. Janelle wins that honor in our books but Farrah would win for most insecure. Actually, maybe it would be a tie with Amber for that title.

6 When Janelle's BF David insulted baby Kaiser

Our jaws dropped when David dropped the B-word and directed it towards Janell's adorable little boy Kaiser! Janelle has found the lowest scum even by her standards! David made us cringe when he called Kaiser a little b*tch, simply for crying during a boat trip filmed on a Teen Mom episode. The dig was directed at Kaiser's father Nathan as well, David said, "A little b*tch like his father". Why she would bring an innocent child into his ugliness is beyond us. As The Grace Report has pointed out, it looked at close inspection that Kaiser may have had wet shorts and that may have been the cause of the excessive crying, but even if that wasn't why, children cry! Dealing with a crying child is a normal part of parenting and since David likes to pretend to be a competent father figure in Janelle's children's lives, we think he may not have realized that he was within earshot of the camera crew when he made that awful comment.

5 Adam's hurtful text to Chelsea about Aubree

Watching Adam let his daughter down over the years has been heartbreaking. We love the cutie Aubree, and were so proud of her when she stood up to her dad asking him why he didn't show up to her father-daughter dance at school! One of the worst scenes in the history of the Teen Mom franchise was when Adam sent Chelsea a text, referring to Aubree as "that mistake". We almost wish that Chelsea hadn't read the text on camera because the thought of Aubree seeing that scene one day is just too sad. We're assuming that Adam doesn't actually see his daughter as a mistake but was saying that with the goal of hurting Chelsea. What the dirt bag doesn't seem to get is that a lot of the things he does to hurt Chelsea, end up hurting his daughter in the process! We're very happy for Chelsea and Aubree that Cole is in their lives now. He comes across as a genuinely nice guy who really cares about Aubree!

4 When Tyler is mean to Catelynn

We get that it must be frustrating dealing with Catelynn sometimes. Even though she's probably the most likable of all the Teen Mom girls, it was obvious in a lot of more recent episodes that she was struggling with depression. Tyler seems to get that this isn't Cate's fault, and he tries to be supportive. There are scenes of her motionless on the couch while Tyler puts their daughter Nova to bed for example. But when it came to Cate's struggle with her weight gain, Tyler made a very insensitive comment. It was a completely cringe-worthy moment when he said that he didn't want a heifer for a wife. Cate's shrugged it off as a joke and even asked him if he thought she was a heifer and thankfully, he replied that no, he does not. But the whole conversation started off with Tyler questioning if the portion of food that Cate was eating followed her weight-watchers guidelines, and that made us cringe too!

3 When Gary turned Leah against Amber

Parental alienation is a very serious thing, and we think that's what Gary did to daughter Leah when he turned her against her own mom! The theory is that most of the unpleasantness from Gary, in this case, happened off camera, but everyone noticed the drastic change in Leah's behavior. Leah went from being giddy and excited to see her mom to constantly saying she wanted to be with her dad. Once Amber got over the shock of the change in Leah she started wondering what was going on. In a later episode, Amber says that Gary told Leah that there was a fear that she would be taken away from him if she didn't act a certain way on camera! There's no way to know what exactly Gary told Leah as we're guessing that Amber got this information second hand from Leah. It makes us really sad for Leah that her dad would be talking to a child about custody issues and other grown-up decisions. She's too young to put any of that on her shoulders!

2 When Chelsea talked about her step-daughter Paislee

One thing about having your life documented on a camera for a show is that everything you say can come back to haunt you. Sometimes we say things we maybe don't mean or things come out the wrong way. It's convenient to forget we ever said them. But this is why even Chelsea, the least controversial Teen Mom is not immune to the drama.  We have the link to the exact episode and quote that got Chelsea into hot water. Chelsea said in reference to Aubree's half sister Paislee, "It came from your dad, so it doesn't count". When she got called out for this cringe-worthy comment by The Grace Report, Chelsea asked to see proof that she said it. Careful what you wish for Chelsea! All anyone has to do is find that old episode! With all that talk about half-siblings, we're pretty sure Chelsea didn't feel that way anymore when she told Aubree that she was going to be a big sister again and that this time it's her mom having another baby.

1 The beef on social media between the girls

Twitter is the place where the drama continues off camera for these girls, Janelle is particular when it comes to the Teen Mom 2 pack, and Farrah for the OG girls. We've all heard about Farrah's feud with Nicki Minaj, but a quick google search can provide screen shots of numerous other beef playing out on twitter that involve many of the Teen Mom girls. There was a beef between Janelle and Chelsea about blogs and skin care lines, which ended with Janelle's then-manager accusing Chelsea of copying Janelle and implying that Janelle was the star of the show (more like the most notorious of the show but maybe he doesn't know the difference). Starcasm.net provides the tweets, including a tweet from a fan telling Janelle's manager guy that regardless of who started it first, she'd rather buy products from Chelsea than Janelle. We're not taking our credit cards out anytime soon for any of these girls, but if we had to choose a favorite, Janelle would be low on the list!
