Read on to find out 15 of the cutest celebrity twins!
15 Marion And Tabitha Broderick
Sarah Jessica Parker is beloved for her role as Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City. While her famous character never had children on the big screen, fans were delighted when SJP announced that she was expecting twins. SJP and Mathew Broderick have been together since 1997 and welcomed their twin daughters Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge via a surrogate back in 2009. The couple has a son, James Wilkie, who was born in 2002. The family currently lives in New York City. Of their reasons for having more children, Parker told Vogue, “I didn't want him [son James] to have to shoulder the burden of us later in life, by himself.” The couple chose a surrogate, Michelle Ross, 26, to carry their twin girls. SJP explained, "We tried and tried and tried and tried to get pregnant. It just was not meant to be, I would give birth… if I could… We couldn't talk about the fact that we were having children to anybody for sooo long! All the stuff that matters is secretive and worrisome. You can't talk about how you feel about the woman who's carrying your children; you can only talk to your husband.”
14 Vivienne And Knox Jolie-Pitt
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt famously welcomed their twins, Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon, in July 2008. Angelina had given birth to their first biological child, daughter Shiloh Nouvel, in 2006. The couple also share three adopted children: son Maddox Chivan (born in 2001), son Pax Thien (born in 2003), and daughter Zahara Marley (born in 2005). Brad officially adopted Maddox and Zahara in 2006, and he adopted Pax in 2008. The Jolie-Pitt family shocked the world when Angelina and Brad announced their separation in September 2016. Jolie filed the divorce and also requested full physical custody of the children. There have been recent rumors of Brad's abuse toward the kids, which may or may not have happened led to the power couple's infamous separation. Pitt was even questioned by the FBI following an incident on a private plane allegedly involving Pitt and the couple's oldest child, Maddox. Such sad news.
13 Phinnaeus And Hazel Moder
Julia Roberts took on a new role -- that of a mom -- when she gave birth to twins back in 2004. Her son Phinnaeus Walter and daughter Hazel Patricia were born in November 2004 to Julia and her husband, Daniel Moder. The couple also welcomed a third child, a boy named Henry, in June 2007, officially making their brood five members. The award-winning actress is known for films like Pretty Woman and Erin Brockovich. But since becoming a mom, she has stepped out of the spotlight to focus on her family. Although she continues to take on some roles, her career is not nearly as bustling as it was during the 1990s and 2000s. Julia and her husband continue to remain very private regarding their children and family life, and it is only when the media catches candid photos of the family do we get any peeks into their lives.
12 Dexter And Frank Costello
Musician Elvis Costello and his wife, jazz pianist and singer Diana Krall, expanded their family when they welcomed twin sons several years ago. Their boys, Dexter Henry Lorcan and Frank Harlan James, were born in December 2006. The couple became engaged in May 2003 and were married December of the same year at Elton John's home. This is Costello's third marriage. He was previously married to Mary Burgoyne, with whom he has an adult son, Mathew. He was also married to Cait O'Riordan from 1986 until 2002. Costello's career first took off during London's punk rock scene in the early 1970s. He later became associated with the emergence of the British punk and new wave movement. Krall started gaining notoriety in the mid '90s for her work. She has since sold more than 6 million albums in the U.S., and over 15 million internationally. In 2009, Billboard named Krall the second best jazz artist of the 2000s. It's clear that musical genes run in these twins' genes, so don't be surprised if Dexter or Frank are the next big musical act.
11 Emme And Max Anthony
Jennifer Lopez made headlines (again!) when she announced she was expecting twins with her then-husband, Marc Anthony. The couple, who were friends for many years, got married in 2004 after a whirlwind romance. They welcomed their twins, son Maximilian David and daughter Emme Maribel, in February 2008. At the time, Lopez shared that her Roman Catholic upbringing meant she was discouraged from using in-vitro fertilization in order to get pregnant. The twins were officially introduced to the world in a special issue of People, for which Lopez and Anthony reportedly received $6 million, making them the most expensive celebrity photos taken at the time. When their twins were three, Lopez and Anthony announced their separation in 2012. Their divorce was finalized in 2014, which gave Lopez primary physical custody of their children. However, the two reportedly remain close friends and are dedicated to successfully co-parenting their children. At least they have two adorable children!
10 Matteo And Valentino Martin
Ricky Martin became a dad for the first time when he welcomed twin sons Matteo and Valentino, who were born through a surrogate, in August 2008. Martin is a Puerto Rican singer, actor, and author who has released several albums since the '90s and had a recurring role on the soap opera General Hospital. Martin has frequently spoken out about how much fatherhood has transformed his life. He cites his sons as his inspiration for coming out of the closet in March 2010 after years of avoiding the topic. In a post on his official website, Martin shared, “I am proud to say that I am a fortunate gay man. I am very blessed to be who I am. These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed."
9 Eden And Savannah Mahoney
Marcia Cross started a family with her husband, stockbroker Tom Mahoney, shortly after their 2006 wedding. Cross underwent in-vitro fertilization almost directly after their ceremony and soon became pregnant with twins. The couple's twin daughters, Eden and Savannah, were born in February 2007, several weeks before Cross' 45th birthday. Previous to her current marriage, Cross was in a long-term relationship with actor Richard Jordan, who was 25 years older than her. The actor unfortunately passed away in 1993 from a brain tumor. Of her conception and pregnancy experience, Cross has said, “We did in-vitro a week after we got married. We were supposed to go to Greece and Paris and have this fancy honeymoon, and I said, 'Let's stay put and see if we can give this baby a chance.'” On learning she was expecting twin girls, Cross added, “I was hugely terrified. And I was more scared to have girls-probably from just having been one. Now I'm just delighted. There's nothing closer than the female bond.”
8 Maddy And Cara Gosselin
Kate Gosselin and her now ex-husband Jon Gosselin became household names when they welcomed their sextuplets in 2004: sons Aaden, Collin, and Joel, and daughters Alexis, Hannah, and Leah. They became even more famous when they starred in several documentaries, and then later with the launch of their own reality show, Jon and Kate Plus 8. However, many fans forget Jon and Kate were parents to twin girls before their family expanded even more. Their twins, Cara and Madelyn, were born five weeks premature in 2000. The couple used the help of IVF treatments to become pregnant with both their twins and sextuplets. Unfortunately, Jon and Kate had a very bitter divorce in 2009. As of 2016, reports say that the two are still not on good terms and continue to argue over custody of their children. Currently, Kate has full custody over their children, while Jon only has visitation rights.
7 Harper And Finley Lockwood
Lisa Marie Presley is the famous daughter of legend Elvis Presley. The musician and actress welcomed twins in 2008, which would have made Elvis a grandfather for the third and fourth time. Interestingly enough, twins run in Lisa Marie's family. Elvis had a stillborn twin brother at birth and her mother, Priscilla Presley, has younger twin brothers. Presley gave birth to her twin daughters, Harper Vivienne Ann and Finley Aaron Love, via C-section in October 2008. It was her first children with her fourth husband, guitarist and music producer, Michael Lockwood. Presley has two children from her first marriage to musician Danny Keough: Danielle Riley Keough and Benjamin Keough. Presley has previously been married to Michael Jackson and Nicholas Cage. Unfortunately, in early 2017, Presley's twin daughters were removed from her home after reports of unsuitable living conditions and rumors their father possessed explicit photos of them. The investigation is still ongoing, but the twins are being cared for by Presley's mother.
6 Dolly And Charlie O'Connell
Rebecca Romijn and her husband Jerry O'Connell welcomed their twin daughters, Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip, in December of 2008. Dolly was named after famous country singer Dolly Parton, while Charlie is named after O'Connell's brother. Only a week after announcing they were trying to get pregnant did their publicist confirm that Romijn was pregnant. Before their birth, O'Connell said, “I am excited I am having girls. I know guys are supposed to say, 'I want a boy. I want to play baseball,' but I think I'm going to be good at raising girls… I can't wait. They're going to be tough chicks. They're only [gtting it on] when I'm dead. If they don't date boys at all and just want them to be infatuated with their father, that's what I'm really going for.” Don't expect this celebrity couple to be welcoming more children any time soon. Romijn has since told People that “We feel like the world was made for pairs. Four feels like the perfect number.”
5 Nelson And Eddy Angelil
Celine Dion is another singer who has a set of twins back home. Dion gave birth to twin boys, Eddy and Nelson, in October 2010. They were named after Dion's favorite French songwriter, Eddy Marnay (who happened to produce Dion's first five albums), and after former South African President, Nelson Mandela. These are Dion and her husband, Rene Angelil's, second and third sons. They also have an older son, Rene-Charles, who was born in January 2001. Dion has spoken about her experience using in-vitro fertilization for each of her pregnancies, after years of trouble conceiving. She also had several operations in 2000 to help improve her chances of becoming pregnant. Rene was originally her manager and they met when she was 12 and he was 38. They started dating in 1987 and got engaged in 1991. They got married in 1994 at the famous Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal and later renewed their vows in Las Vegas in 2000. Tragically, Angelil died in January 2016 from complications due to his cancer. Dion has been open with the media since his death about how she is helping her sons cope.
4 Monroe And Moroccan Cannon
Mariah Carey entered the world of motherhood when she welcomed twins with her now ex-husband, actor and comedian Nick Cannon. The famous pop star gave birth to their twins, Moroccan and Monroe, in April 2011 via C-section. The couple had met in 2008 while filming the music video for Carey's song “Bye Bye” and married a short while later. However, the couple announced their separation in 2014 and finalized their divorced in 2016. Carey has since been engaged to Australian billionaire, James Packer. Though Carey reportedly had a difficult pregnancy before welcoming her twins, she has had only good things to say about expecting twins. Upon hearing fellow musician Beyonce is pregnant with twins, Carey offered her congratulations on the singer's Instagram. “Congrats Bey and Jay!!! I am so happy for you both.” Carey commented. “Having twins is the most incredible experience ever! Love, Mariah and the twins.”
3 Ryan And Rodney Jr. Peete
Actress Holly Robinson Peete shares twins with her husband, former American football quarterback, Rodney Peete. The couple got married in 1995 after Rodney proposed to Holly during an episode of Hangin' with Mr. Cooper. They have four children in total: daughter Ryan and son Rodney Jr (born in 1997), son Robinson (born in 2002), and son Roman (born in 2005). Their twin son Rodney Jr. was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. The couple has since done a lot of charity work in order to raise awareness and improve research on autism. They founded the HollyRod Foundation after Holly's father was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, which is dedicated to helping find a cure for several diseases and autism as well as it provides assistance to those living with the conditions. It is really nice to see stars getting involved and doing what they can to help those in need! A true inspiration.
2 John And Gustav Phillips
Julie Bowen has made a name for herself on TV shows like Modern Family, Boston Legal, and Lost. But the actress took on an exciting new role in her personal life, you guessed it, that was the role of mom when she gave birth to twin boys. The actress married real estate investor and software developer Scott Phillips in September 2004. They welcomed their sons, John and Gustav, in April 2009. Bowen was visibly pregnant while shooting the pilot for Modern Family. Their eldest son, Olivier, was born in 2007. During an interview on The View, Bowen shared a photo of her breastfeeding her twins at the same time, in what she called the “double football hold.” Though the producers nixed the shot, George Lopez shared a blown-up version of the image during his interview with Bowen. He commented that “Those twins are lucky” when the picture appeared on the screen.
1 Grace And Ava Garciaparra
Many recognize Mia Hamm as the two-time Olympic gold medalist, retired professional soccer player, and FIFA Women's World Cup winner. But, at home, the accomplished athlete is mom to a set of twin daughters. Hamm married former Boston Red Sox shortstop Nomar Garciaparra in November 2003. The couple welcomed their twin daughters, Grace Isabella and Ava Caroline, in March 2007. Hamm gave birth to their only son, Garrett Anthony, several years later in January 2012. Hamm has commented on what a difference motherhood is from the world of athletics- and how many new challenges it has brought on. The athlete told People, “There are challenges. In the early morning, you're thinking, 'Man, I could really use another half hour of sleep.' But you go in and it's those smiles; they look at you like you're a superhero.” Since retiring from soccer, Hamm has been spending all of her free time on her family and reportedly loves every moment of it.
