15 Of The Worst Bachelor And Bachelorette Moments Ever
Over the last twenty-one Seasons many women all over the world tune in every Monday night to indulge in the craziness of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. We all romanticize about falling in love and finding that perfect someone, the one you can call "my person." And although The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are for those wanting to find true love, alongside the romance comes a whole lot of crazy!
If you love The Bachelor and The Bachelorette as much as we do then you might be interested in learning about the very many crazy moments that ever occurred over the last twenty-one seasons. From Jason Mesnick changing his mind, Jesse Palmer calling the wrong name during a rose ceremony to Juan Pablo in all his inappropriateness, crazy Kelsey from Chris Soules season to even Lace freaking out over eye contact. So much has happened and there are sure to be more down the road. Let's take a look back at the worst moments of The Bachelor and Bachelorette ever. You might be surprised at how much can happen behind and during scenes, the fact that crazy actually makes for great television, and you might be wondering how these people ever got cast. Take a look below:
15 Ben Says I Love You To Lauren… And JoJo!
During the charming Ben Higgins season, he came to find love for not one, but two incredible women. Lauren is the sweet, down to earth, beautiful blonde that has so many qualities Ben loved and fell for. But JoJo was the sassy brunette that knew how to have fun but also when to be serious and Ben fell hard for her too. Rarely in the history of The Bachelor has anyone ever said I love you before the final rose, but Ben clearly broke that rule when he decided to lay his feelings all on the line. The only issue was that he told both women he was in love with them, but neither one knew he said it to the other. Leaving JoJo believing that if he loves me he must be picking me and Lauren assuming that love conquers all and he clearly said he loves me. Although it may be possible to love both women at the same time, it isn't really the fair thing to do. But seeing it from Ben's point of view he truly felt that he loved both women making his decision that much harder to make. While watching this episode play out, fans were outraged and didn't think it was fair. Ben clearly didn't think he would ever be in that type of position. Still, you could only imagine how both women felt the moment they found out that Ben had told them both he loved them. And if you've seen the final rose then you know that he ends up picking Lauren in the end-- guess his love for her was that much stronger.
14 Juan Pablo 2.0
The fact that he even had the chance to be The Bachelor is a major question mark still many people tuned in every Monday night to watch in hopes that Juan Pablo may just prove us wrong, that maybe possibly he is a decent guy and will find love. But unfortunately, he didn't prove us wrong, in fact he proved himself to be an even bigger jerk. Juan Pablo's inappropriateness throughout the show did not settle well with the fans. From Andi Dorfman giving him a piece of her mind was probably the highlight of the show. But of course all Juan Pablo has to say is, 'es ok"… no Juan, it is not okay! To add fuel to the fire, Juan Pablo basically told Clare his so-called feelings for her, in other words, he left little to the fans imagination regarding Clare and Juan's physical relationship. Oh it just keeps getting better when during the final rose, as Juan Pablo tells Clare he didn't pick her leaving her completely furious. Clare totally drops the mic on Pablo the moment he decides to send her home, as she is walking away from him her final words were "I would never want my children to have a father like you." Dang girl, you told him! And to finish the Juan Pablo train off-- although he picks Nikki he is unable to tell her his true feelings. The fact that he doesn't know if he loves her is a major question in itself.
13 Nick Viall Calling Andi Out After The Final Rose
Nick made it clear that he was there for love and really put his heart out on the line, which we all know is a very difficult thing to do. Granted going on the show you sort of know what to expect, you know that there are other contestants competing for the Bachelor/Bachelorette. Unfortunately for Nick, he fell hard for Andi Dorfman only to have his heart ripped out of his chest. Making it to the final two, you would think that Nick had a pretty fair chance of winning but instead Andi chose to let him go. Poor Nick put his heart on the line, and a few other things too. During the Fantasy Suite, Nick and Andi had a heated romantic encounter that took their relationship to a whole other level, but Andi looking back sees it as a cringe-worthy moment. In a jaw-dropping moment, Nick completely calls Andi out during After The Final Rose asking her "If you weren't in love with me, I'm just not sure why like you would make love to me." Shocking all of their fans in this dreadful moment. Nick fell in love with Andi and took their romance seriously, he had always been serious about finding love. According to Andi during their time together in the Suite Nick didn't refer to wanting to this moment as wanting to "make love" which this was one reason Andi became uninterested, except for Andi claims she could have let the comment slide if only he were "mind-blowing" in bed, unfortunately to Andi he wasn't, which led to her picking Josh Murray instead.
12 The Good, The Bad, And The Chad
Oh Chad! Chad was the most hated bachelor on the show, perhaps a close call to Juan Pablo. Every week we all tuned in to see what other outbursts Chad might have. Chad was like a volcano waiting to rupture, one bad move and the guy just might explode. Remember that eerie scene where Jojo left Chad alone in the woods and all you see in the dark is Chad wandering through the woods angrier than ever and then he decides to show up to the cabin where they all were staying-- talk about a scary movie scene bound to happen! We love to hate Chad, sure he is all charming one minute and then the next it is like Jekyll and Hyde. No one really knows what to expect but it sure is entertaining. Every season of The Bachelor generally chooses a "villain" and obviously for Season 20 of The Bachelorette, JoJo Fletcher wasn't buying into Chad's antics which only led to her eliminating him. Chad doesn't take criticism very well it seems or let alone anything not going his way and he seems to have anger issues beyond his own control. According to Chad he doesn't believe that JoJo and Jordan will last-- pretty much claims that once the "money dies off" Jordan and Jojo will be over. Obviously Chad was the villain of this season. Throughout the season-- up until the point he was eliminated, Chad seemed to really enjoy causing a huge amount of distress.
11 Jason Mesnick Changes His Mind
Men change their minds faster than anyone, and women can be just as indecisive but the worst part about this moment is that during the final rose ceremony Jason sent home Molly Malaney, leaving her to be single and unengaged-- ringless and roseless shall we say. Whereas Jason decided to get down on one knee and propose to Melissa Rycroft, thinking he truly found the girl he wanted to marry only he didn't. It wasn't until the After The Final Rose live television show that Jason broke the news to his Fiancé that he made a mistake. Turns out he realized he wanted Molly instead and completely took back his proposal. Ladies, if a man ever did this to me I don't think I would give him a second chance-- but when it is really true love I guess true love conquers all. Melissa, obviously, was furious, here she thought she found the man of her dreams, the one she would spend the rest of her life with only to find out that she wasn't the one he wanted after all. Could you imagine, that would just be devastating. Jason felt terrible but at the same time he was only following his heart and his heart had made a drastic decision. He realized he couldn't let Molly go, and instead he broke Melissa's heart and ended up leaving her-- roseless and ringless.
10 Getting Cozy With The Producer
When you apply to be on the show it is clearly stated that you are there to find love… little did fans think that a contestant would find love with a producer. And no it actually isn't as sweet as it may sound, in fact, it was a pretty bad moment and Chris Harrison, the host of The Bachelor was not very happy about it. Talk about a scandal, when The Bachelor contestant of Season 14, Rozlyn Papa just "wasn't there for the right reason", as one may say, she clearly was not there for the right reasons considering she decided to have an on-set relation with a producer. Chris Harrison even confronted Rozlyn about the rumor only it was not much of a rumor considering the producer came forward and told just about everyone. He had pictures and many other people saw them together-- the fact that Rozlyn stood there face to face with Chris and denied the entire thing was shocking in itself. Rozlyn obviously was sent home due to the alleged affair with one of its producers. Whether or not the affair actually occurred it definitely stirred things up for The Bachelor show. We must admit it is a television show and often times the producer will create drama to make it more interesting, fans have to wonder if the affair actually happened or if it was all for show? No one really knows the answer but it was a scandal we just could not get enough of.
9 How To Scare A Guy In 10 Mins: The Sean Lowe Edition
If you were a fan of How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days then you probably will love this. Sure the show is about love, finding love, and in the end proposing to the one you love but did you ever think of the crazy things the women do just to get attention? Men typically run away from marriage, I've been told from many of my guy friends that a guy actually doesn't want to get married they just do it because they can't see themselves losing that girl. If you are the type of women to show up the very first night, step out of the limo in none other than a full-blown wedding gown then people are bound to notice and bound to talk. Still, for Lindsay Yenter she decided to go all out by surprising Sean Lowe in a head-to-toe, vail, and all wedding dress and to top it all off she even asked him to slow dance with her. Now maybe it wouldn't have seemed so crazy if she was actually the one he picks in the end, as Sean Lowe does watch a beautiful bride walk down the aisle unfortunately for Lindsay it wasn't her but instead the beautiful Catherine. If only we could replay that moment over and over, the expression on Sean's face as Lindsay steps out of the limo is by far priceless! Lindsay went on to claiming how only someone who has balls would pull off something that crazy. There was even a tweet from a previous Bachelorette winner JP Rosenbaum tweeting, "Goofy side = wacko side = prob does have balls #stayaway #Bachelor."
8 Jesse Palmer Calling Out The Wrong Name
Roses are red, Violets are blue when he forgets your name what should you do? Obviously meeting about 28 women and having to learn all their names can be a bit overwhelming and for Jesse Palmer, he had a minor brain freeze when he went to call one girl's name during the ceremony only to realize that he called the wrong name. Granted there is a lot of pressure for these bachelor's to remember all those names but the fact that he questioned it in the moment and pretty much asked for the rose back only to give it to the right girl's name can be pretty embarrassing. Everyone wants to receive a rose, but when you call the wrong name and find yourself flustered because she starts walking towards you and you realize it is the wrong girl. Clearly being an NFL Player he must have taken a few too many shots to the head because unfortunately for him he ended up sending the wrong girl home after completely blanking out on her name, only to give her rose to someone else. Talk about an embarrassing moment. How would you feel if you were a contestant waiting anxiously during the rose ceremony praying that your name is called and then he does-- except it wasn't actually for you. Obviously, Jesse was just super overwhelmed by all the beautiful women that he barely could think straight-- ladies, we can't blame him, can we? So it was slightly shocking and embarrassing that he called the wrong girls name but he's a cutie so I think we could let that minor slip up slip just this once.
7 The Great Eyebrow Battle And All Her Sparkle: The Tiara Edition
It is crazy how invested we all get when it comes to The Bachelor, but half the time what sparks our interest rarely has anything to do with the romance going on but rather the slight debacles on and off camera. Probably one of the most obnoxious contestants on The Bachelor but women do love drama and seeing Tiara and all her crazy antics really made for one wild ride on the show. Tiara exactly like the crown-- she had Princess written all over her. Her uncontrollable eyebrows and her sparkle were enough to cast her own spin-off-- and no that never happened but with television nowadays you never know. Still, Tiara caused a major scene between her and Ashlee Frazier, as Ashlee confronts Tiara about her attitude. Not to mention her "sparkle". Ashlee is fed up with Tiara's cold stares and raised eyebrows, Tiara comments back stating that she can't help it. According to Tiara, her parents were worried about her going on the show stating that she has a sparkle and not to let the other girls take her sparkle. Clearly, the Princess has decided to show her true colors here, aka "The Tiara Show" according to Lindsay. Tiara loves to play the victim, putting on her perfect little baby voice for Sean and stating how she has such a big heart. One thing that caught my attention during this episode is that whenever someone has to constantly remind people they have a big heart they don't and whoever says they hate drama actually loves it.
6 Kelsey And All Her crazy
At first, you feel sorry for her, after all, it is tragic the things she has been through but then as the show begins and her craziness starts to unravel as a viewer you become either annoyed by her or straight up terrified. She comes off as sweet and then suddenly turns sour-- much like a sour patch kid. And clearly, her crazy stories, and major injuries, and just her behavior all together is enough to wonder if maybe she should have been sent to the psych ward. But in all fairness, the show does have some crazy editing skills therefore maybe what the viewers are seeing isn't always what you get. But then again it is really hard to tell. Kelsey went from the girl you wanted to write a sad song for and just mend her broken heart but as the show went on you realize that maybe she isn't the girl next door after all. In fact at one point during the show, some of the other contestants questioned if any of her personal stories were true. This caused a big controversy because it isn't something people take lightly and why would anyone make that up? But then again if you are already a little coo-coo in the head you may just be able to believe anything you say. On top of that, Kelsey was always having anxiety issues, from passing out in the bathroom because she suddenly "couldn't breathe" (and there is Jade Roper stepping over her like no big deal). The best part about following Kelsey's craziness was that when she was finally eliminated according to Chris Harrison "I have never had a celebration like that", apparently the women that were left were thrilled that Chris finally noticed how crazy Kelsey really was and to ultimately let that baggage go.
5 Lace Gets Mad Over Eye Contact
Normally eye contact is considered a respect thing therefore if you don't maintain eye contact while having a conversation with someone it often will lead to them thinking you don't respect them. But in other circumstances, maintaining eye contact isn't necessary-- unless you are Lace from Ben Higgin's Season 19 on The Bachelor. According to Lace, Ben did not give her any eye contact during the rose ceremony which made her pretty much question his intentions. Ben was definitely taken back by Lace's outburst-- after all, she received a rose regardless so why does it matter whether he made eye contact or not? According to Ben, he felt that her outburst regarding eye contact was a bit exasperating. We don't blame you Ben! Considering it was only the first rose ceremony and there are 28 beautiful women standing in front of him, it could get a bit intimidating to remember who he made eye contact with and who he didn't. Clearly, it was more than just eye contact, or perhaps Lace had a few too many drinks. No one really knows why she decided to cause some unnecessary drama but aren't first impressions really important? And her crazy little outburst definitely did not help her down the road. Ben wanted to understand what he did wrong but even fans couldn't pin point what he did. Lace clearly was overreacting, for what reason we may never know.
4 Leah Throws Lauren B. Under The Bus
It can definitely get stressful when you are competing for the same man's heart and attention-- but resorting to throwing someone else under the bus just to make him fall for you really the best way? Clearly, Leah allowed her jealousy over Lauren B. and Ben Higgins connections to get the best--or shall we say worst of her. On Ben's season of The Bachelor, throughout the season we watched as Lauren B. and Ben's relationship grew stronger-- it is so obvious now that the show has ended that Lauren was clearly his pick all along. And Leah obviously noticed, which isn't an excuse for being a "mean girl" but in some ways, we can understand. Leah felt that she wasn't getting enough time with Ben which caused her to become majorly jealous. When you have feelings for a guy you don't want to see them cozying up to another woman, it doesn't give anyone the right to become conniving but when you are under that amount of stress it can definitely take its toll. Leah couldn't handle the stress of feeling left out, she became pretty pissed when she noticed that Ben was giving a plentiful of time to the other women throughout their times together and not just during the rose ceremonies. She felt as if he were validating them more so than her. The Green eyed monster aka Jealousy clearly reared its head when Ben wasn't giving Leah the type of attention she wanted. In one of the episodes, Leah went to Ben's room to talk only it wasn't much of their relationship but instead Leah told some negative and untrue things regarding Lauren B. This accusation left Ben wondering if Leah was lying or perhaps he was being fooled by Lauren. He immediately calls to talk to Lauren to get to the bottom of things. Poor Lauren B. was left in tears over why Leah would do such a thing. Eventually, Leah was sent home and Ben ended up with Lauren B. That goes to show that good can triumph evil. hopefully Leah has learned her lesson and to try not to let jealousy take control over you, often actions have consequences and unfortunately for Leah, her throwing Lauren under the bus gave her a ticket home.
3 Corrine-It To Win It
On this season of The Bachelor, we fans are lucky enough to encounter Corrine-- the carefree, immature, 'needs a nanny at 24', nick-obsessed contestant and that's just being polite. The truth is, Corrine is not the girl you would take home to momma, she is obviously young which is poorly portrayed throughout the season-- and the season has only just begun. Nick seems to take a liking towards Corrine-- according to Corrine she is "Corrine it to win it". Probably the cheesiest line ever but it is definitely catchy. Every Monday night fans tune in to see what crazy thing Corrine will do or say. It was only the first night and Corrine truly was in it to win it. She was determined to get a rose, determined to be the first to kiss Nick, and determined to be better than all the other women. When watching the show, it is difficult to take anything she does or says seriously, especially when she tells the women that she is 24-years-old and has a nanny. I don't know if it is just me, but if you are about to find the women you are going to spend the rest of your life with, perhaps your wife, shouldn't she know how to make her bed and get her own food? According to Corrine, she told the women that she basically cannot live without her nanny-- she does everything from "getting my cucumbers, vegetables, and making my bed". Nick is 36-years-old, and let's be real here-- Corrine is fun obviously but she doesn't really strike the fans as someone Nick should be marrying. She is so young and clearly hasn't experienced life yet-- or shall we say grown up enough.
2 Olivia Calling Amanda A "Teen Mom"
Oh, Olivia, why do you have to be such a mean girl? Surely the fans wanted to love her, but she just continued being the "villain", continued doing things that weren't so nice and soon after more fans learned to dislike her. During Ben Higgin's season, Olivia was pegged as the girl everyone loved to hate, the crazy one. Now I can only imagine being on The Bachelor is a stressful experience and the possibility that Olivia happened to just crack under pressure is a plausible explanation, and that maybe it isn't fair to consider her the crazy one, however on one of the episodes Olivia made a few comments towards Amanda that maybe justified as to why people considered her the mean one. Amanda, who has two daughters, at the ages of 1 and 3, she was having a conversation with some of the other ladies in the house about her struggles as a single mom, such as custody with her ex-husband and Olivia decides to chime in saying that it felt like another episode of Teen Mom. Clearly, Olivia was out of line, considering Amanda is 26 and she has been married before-- definitely far from a Teen Mom. Amanda defended herself by saying she had her first daughter at 22 and her second at 24, which clearly she wasn't in her teens anymore so how does that even classify as a Teen Mom situation? Also, hasn't Olivia ever heard the phrase "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all?" out of all the responses she could have she chose that one. Good for Amanda sticking up for her! Girl power!
1 Olivia Being Stuck Alone On The Island
Karma can be a real pain in the neck and clearly, that ghost came back to haunt little miss Olivia Caridi. She was pretty much cast as the "Villian" of the season and she may perhaps have some redeeming qualities, the show clearly portrayed her as if she lacked thereof. From the previous remark that she accused Amanda of being a "teen mom" had many of the girls up in a frenzy. Clearly, Olivia wasn't making many friends on the show-- granted she didn't think it mattered since she was only there for one reason and that was Ben's heart. But in a two-on-one between Emily and Olivia, panic running through Emily's veins she soon learned that Ben wasn't too fond of Olivia afterward and not only was she eliminated but she was left alone on the Island. Clearly, this was planned and she technically wasn't on the Island completely alone. But in the episode you see Emily and Ben sail away basically leaving Olivia standing alone by the shore. For a brief moment, you actually feel sorry for her, only because no one really deserves to be left on an Island. But the producers were there so technically she wasn't alone. Still, throughout the season all of Olivia's craziness, rude comments, and cocky attitude clearly sent the wrong vibes to Ben and he knew there wasn't anything in the cards for them. It is one thing to have your heart broken, but stranded on an Island is not only a horrible moment but also embarrassing considering all the millions of fans watching the show. Some may believe Olivia should have seen it coming where others feel slight remorse. Either way, you want to spin it, this by far was definitely one of the worst Bachelor moments for the books.
