15 Reasons Why Kocktails With Khloe Is Kringeworthy

When your last name is Kardashian, chances are that the celebrity-obsessed public will be paying extra close attention to whatever you do. And when you've catapulted to stardom thanks to your role on a reality show like Keeping Up With The Kardashians, it's tough to follow up that kind of success. So, Khloe Kardashian had to know that she'd be under a huge amount of scrutiny when she decided to launch her own show, Kocktails With Khloe. However, chances are she thought the public would fawn over her new show and that the Kardashian fam would have another huge hit on their hands. Instead, everyone has been tuning in just to be able to talk about how truly awful the show is.

Now, Khloe Kardashian has tried her hand at hosting before, on the American version of The X-Factor. She was awful and didn't last a second season. So, you'd think that she'd shy away from the type of show that would require scripted chit chat with other people who aren't in her immediate family, but no - she was ready to be at the helm of her own show.

In smaller doses on Keeping Up With The Kardashian, Khloe is kind of hilarious. She says things that her sisters wouldn't, and she calls people on their crap. However, on Kocktails With Khloe, she's hopelessly awkward, and she's crafted a show that's so bad you just can't look away.

Here are 15 reasons that Kocktails with Khloe is oh-so-kringeworthy.

15 She has terrible judgment when it comes to explaining things

Khloe had another 'fun' game that involved pulling a celebrity's name and having to convincingly defend them. Sounds a little bit ridiculous, but whatever, all in good fun. However, Khloe started the game by naming Bill Cosby as an example of one of the celebrity names that might pop up that her guests would have to defend. Yes - the disgraced star who has been under media scrutiny for the endless list of women coming forth saying that he's sexually assaulted them. That's the name that Khloe picked for an example. It would have been so, so easy to just use a celebrity that people always good-naturedly mock like Gwyneth Paltrow, but she had to go with the man literally living a huge scandal.

14 Everyone looks like they'd rather be at the dentist

Look, celebrities, we get it - you've got stuff to sell and promote. It's part of your job. We were shocked to see the funny and bold Aisha Tyler as a guest on an episode of Khloe's monstrosity, until she pulled out some type of cocktail mix that she's selling. However, when you compare the demeanor of guests on Khloe's show with guests on other shows, it's just so, so cringeworthy. While celebrities might not love promoting their stuff, the hosts are engaging and hilarious and usually get them laughing. I mean, Ellen DeGeneres has her guests cracking up and busting out their best dance moves. Khloe, on the other hand, presides over guests that look like they're in a ten hour lecture on watching paint dry.

13 She tries to delve deep with her guests - and fails miserably

The point of talk shows and late night shows is to deliver news with a lot of personality. Sure, celebrities talk about their latest project, but they also share funny stories and musings that have the viewers cracking up alongside the host. However, Khloe somehow didn't get the memo that things are generally kept light on late night shows and talk shows, and during a game where you had to answer questions on cards, she busted out the question “What is privilege to you? Is it a victimless crime? How have you contributed?” I mean, first of all, it's hilarious that Khloe Kardashian would decide to ask something like that. But to know how awkward and out of place it was, just check out the reactions - Malika Haqq, a guest on the show, literally tells her fellow guest Jenna Marbles to pick another card because the question is so inappropriate.

12 She tries unsuccessfully to rip off successful ideas others have done

We have a feeling that maybe Khloe or someone behind this awful show saw Jimmy Kimmel's hilarious “mean tweets” videos and saw how successful they were and tried to mimic that, but it just really doesn't work. One of the segments of the show involves the guests acting out their past Twitter feeds. In small doses, such as a grouping of celebrities reading a single well-selected tweet each, it totally works - everyone loves the Mean Tweets series. However, on Kocktails with Khloe, it just comes across as weird and definitely not funny, at all.

11 She literally. Has. No. Plan.

A little bit of spontaneity and improvisation is a necessary part of any talk show. After all, you don't know how certain celebrities will respond to things, and sometimes you have to think on your feet if something isn't going the way you thought it would. However, Khloe has taken spontaneous to a whole new level - the entire premise behind the show, as she has stated, is that “this is what I do at home. My friends come over, and we play games, and I wanted to do it in a controlled environment.” Sure, everyone loves chilling with friends in a casual setting - but that doesn't make good television. Someone needs to tell her that a talk show requires more structure than a reality show.

    10 Her pranks aren't funny

Even if you haven't watched this trainwreck of a show (lucky you), chances are you might have seen a clip of the Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian phone conversation that Khloe masterminded because of Kim's reaction. Basically, Khloe thought it would be hilarious for Kendall to call her new mama sister and confess to her that she was pregnant. Kim basically told Kendall that she was exhausted and couldn't deal with her drama, but that she'd save her a lot of baby clothes. Kim also offered to get her supposedly pregnant little sister some birth control, because, you know… it wouldn't be too late for that, in her mind. The prank wasn't funny whatsoever, and it really just brought to the public's attention how cringeworthy the entire family is.

9 She asks loaded personal questions, like your awkward friend who can't behave at dinner parties

Sure, every now and then a talk show or late night host will delve into a guest's personal issues if they feel comfortable talking about it. Sometimes, if there's been a huge scandal, it's kind of tough to avoid bringing it up. However, Khloe took things to a whole new level with the cupcake game in the first episode. In the game, cupcakes were given to guests with a question at the bottom - and they weren't random questions. Khloe checked the bottom of each cupcake to ensure the correct question went to the correct guest, meaning they were thought out ahead of time. So what did she ask Malika Haqq, the woman who has slept with a married man? Whether or not she has ever hooked up with a married man. I mean, that's just stirring the pot.

8 She told Kim to lose weight

We get it - sisters joke around with one another, and Khloe is known for her slightly irreverent sense of humour. However, we couldn't help but cringe when she took over the phone from Kendall after the terrible phone 'prank' and told her “when you lose a few pounds I want you to come on Kocktails with Khloe.” As someone who has literally stated that it was uncomfortable to be the larger one amongst her sisters, it's a bizarre statement to make. Plus, why on earth would any celebrity want to appear on her show if they know they might be called porkers? Is there a weight limit for sitting on her couch?

7 She constantly has her family as guests

Khloe has gotten a few legitimate guests on the show, like Snoop Dogg and Diddy, but on the whole, the guest list has been comprised of her sisters or friends. Now, there's nothing wrong with featuring someone that you're close with on your show - every talk show host or late night host has a few celebrity friends, and it just adds an extra element to their hilarious back-and-forth during the interview. However, we're pretty sure Khloe is just bringing her sisters on for episode after episode because no one else wants the gig. I mean, she brought on Scott and Tyga - no one wants to hear more from them.

    6 The stupid kocktails

Let's get this straight - the fact that there's alcohol served on this show isn't a fun addition, it's a necessity based on how miserable the guests appear. However, we're kind of into the idea of having a fun signature cocktail recipe to try out. The problem is, she doesn't capitalize on having a bartender there making the drinks - she could easily have a quick clip of Sharone explaining step-by-step how to make the cocktail so that people watching at home might be able to try it out for themselves. Instead, he putters around awkwardly in the background making the drinks while guest after guest comes into the kitchen and she's trying to talk to everyone at once. Plus, I mean, “The Tingle”? “I Woke Up Like This?” The cocktail names are totally cheesy.

5 She weirdly brought up her little sister's sex life

First of all, it's a little weird to talk about your sibling's sex life on live television, but after countless seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, we get that these ladies probably don't have much of a filter or sense of privacy anymore. However, there was one moment that was so awkward it had us covering our eyes. During a toast with Diddy and the rest of the guests, including little sis Kylie, the youngest Jenner tells everyone to make eye contact with her for the toast, because of the superstition that avoiding to do so means seven years bad sex. Khloe then goes on to ask her sister if that's something she's concerned about, and then probe a little more into her private life, to the point where all Kylie could do was give a stunned “whoa there.”

4 The staged 'prank' calls obviously arranged through a publicist

Okay, let's be honest - a lot of us with normal lives don't pick up the phone every single time it rings. Maybe it's not within reach, maybe we're busy, maybe we're in a situation where we're just unable to answer it - it happens. You would think with their busy schedules and constant travelling, celebrities would be even harder to get a hold of, but somehow they just magically are by their phones whenever Khloe decides to deliver a 'prank' call. I mean, come on - we know that they're told ahead of time to expect a call and to pick up, otherwise you'd just be pranking their assistants half the time. It's ridiculous.

3 The terrible games with the terrible names

We could break this one down and discuss every game featured so far on the show, but we'd be here for a week if that was the case. Rather than finding one or two fun ice-breaker activities and slowly adding a few more as the show goes on, like most successful hosts do, Khloe has decided to manically shift from game to game, and they're all awful. Kinky Charades, where you have to swap out a film name with a sexual term? Khlodora's Box? I mean, do we have to go on? They're all so, so terrible.

    2 It's so, so loud

People who get gigs hosting television shows are usually not shy, introverted types. I mean, the entire point of their job is to bring out the personality in their guests and to make them feel comfortable, so you need someone who is outgoing and engaging with everyone. However, someone needs to tell Khloe that creating a fun atmosphere doesn't necessarily mean creating a loud atmosphere. I mean, one of the only shows louder than this one is maybe Keeping Up With The Kardashians or one of the editions of the Housewives during a fight. Everyone is half-shouting over one another to be heard, and it's awful.

1 The ridiculous shifts in tone

There are shows where the host leads the discussion about topics like sex and cocktails and funny personal stories of celebrities. There are shows where the host talks about serious world issues with an informed and intelligent guest, or delves into an individual's struggles with sensitivity and tact. And then, there's Kocktails with Khloe. This show switches tones so often that it's a little bit frightening. One minute, everyone is playing a game of f-k, marry, kill and drinking cocktails. The next minute, they're forced to answer questions about how they were fired, whether they've hurt anyone in their lives, and what the lowest point in their own life was. Uh… what? Is this happy hour or therapy hour? Does anyone even know?
