15 Stars Who Are Single DADS

We hear all about the lovely ladies of Hollywood who are raising kids on their own, but we rarely hear about the famous dads who are doing the same thing! Several celebrity fathers have children that they want to be involved with, and either have joint or sole custody of. While some of the following stars have kids from a result of marriages or relationships that didn't work out, others were never married. Some of these dads are very open about their role in their children's lives, while we bet you didn't even know that some of the others even had children. Somehow, they've managed to keep that side of their lives totally private! Whether they're quiet about it or love to discuss it, and whether they have lots of help or none at all, we're sure these famous daddies are doing a great job! Here are 15 celebrities who are actually single dads!

15 Tom Cruise

He might be one of the biggest movie stars in the world, but Tom Cruise is actually a single dad, too! Initially, he and ex-wife Nicole Kidman had some trouble conceiving, so they adopted two children. Isabella Jane Kidman Cruise was born in 1992, and soon put up for adoption. Connor Antony Cruise was born in 1995 and adopted by Tom and Nicole shortly after. Nicole has been open about the fact that her relationship with her kids has never been exactly strong, to the point where they didn't even call her “mom”. Tom and Nicole divorced in 2001, officially leaving Tom a single father. We're sure he had some help from a few figures within the Church of Scientology, and it's well-known that the kids were also homeschooled by Tom's two sisters. Tom also has Suri with ex-wife Katie Holmes, though it's been reported that he doesn't see her as often!

14 Usher

Unlike many single dads, music superstar Usher was granted full custody of his two sons. He divorced his wife Tameka Foster before engaging in a three-year battle for sole custody, which he won after telling the judge Tameka wasn't able to bond with her children and was unstable. Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely Raymond, born in 2007 and 2008 respectively are still living with their dad (and are like little mini Ushers themselves!). The fight for custody between these two exes has been revisited a few times, particularly after Usher V experienced a near-miss in his father's pool after getting his arm caught in the drain. Tameka has since stated that she doesn't blame Usher for the pool incident, and Usher has proven to be a capable father several times. It's clear he's totally proud of his two little boys since he's always tweeting cute snaps of them together and we can't help but swoon!

13 Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp was never married to the mother of his children, Lily-Rose and Jack Depp, but he and Vanessa Paradis had a strong relationship for many years. However, when the two private celebs split in 2012, Johnny became a single dad. Lily-Rose was just at the beginning of her teenage years, and Jack was only 10, which are difficult ages to be under regular circumstances, let alone when your family is splitting up. But Johnny has always talked about how much he loves and cares for his kids, and seems like he's a great father. In 2007, Lily-Rose went through a super tough time when a severe infection caused her kidneys to start to shut down, and understandably, Johnny was devastated. But thankfully, Lily-Rose was saved by an amazing team of doctors at the Great Ormond Street Hospital. To thank them, Johnny dressed up as Jack Sparrow and spent time with children there. Bless!

12 Jamie Foxx

Triple threat Jamie Foxx isn't the first person who springs to mind at the mention of single dads, and that's because he generally likes to keep his children out of the spotlight! But he actually does have two daughters called Corinne Foxx and Annalise Bishop. This may come as a shock because Jamie looks so damn good, but Corrine is actually 23! We know-he does not look like the father of a daughter that age at all! Jamie never married or had a public relationship with the mother of his daughters, and has kept totally secretive about any possible identities. Although Corinne did post a photo of her mother on Veteran's Day, extremely proud that she served in the Air Force. Corinne was also Miss Golden Globe in 2015, and works as a model. On Father's Day she posted a heart-felt photo dedicated to her famous daddy for all he's done for her!

11 Seal

Seal and Heidi Klum always seemed like the perfect couple, and share four incredibly gorgeous children. But it wasn't meant to be, and the two divorced in 2014, leaving Seal a single father. Heidi's first child was fathered by ex, Flavio Briatore, though she stated that he wasn't involved in his daughter's life at all, and Seal was like her father. He officially adopted Heidi's daughter, nicknamed Leni, in 2009, and also had three other children with Heidi between 2005 and 2009: Henry, Johan, and Lou. Though Heidi and Seal are no longer together, they both put their kids ahead of their conflict and are still seen on family days out from time to time. Although we're sure there are nannies and other helpers in the picture, it must be tough to coordinate family time and facilitate a sense of routine for the kids when both parents are jet-setting superstars! We don't know how they do it!

10 Al Pacino

Al Pacino is another star whom you probably never knew is actually a single father! Although he never married before, the actor has three children. His daughter, Julie Marie is from his relationship with Jan Tarrant, his acting coach. And then he has twins, Anton James and Olivia Rose, whose mother is actress Beverly D'Angelo. It isn't surprising that Julie Marie is super-talented and is pursuing a career in the film industry-what would you expect from the daughter of a legend like Al Pacino and an acting coach?! She is currently working as a film producer, director, and screenwriter. It's been said that Al has a strong relationship with Beverly and the two share their children equally so each parent has a fair amount of responsibilities and time with the twins. Al didn't have a relationship with his father, and it's safe to say his children aren't suffering the same fate!

9 Cristiano Ronaldo

He might be one of the most in-demand soccer players on the globe (both with soccer clubs and women!), but Cristiano Ronaldo announced he was a single father in 2011. This is another case where the details of the child's mother remain unknown. Cristiano has sole custody over Cristiano Junior (bless!), and that must be tough considering his busy schedule. Although it has been said that he has his mother, Dolores Aveiro, on hand to help with the babysitting. A few rumors have circulated as to the identity of Cristiano Jr.'s mother, but Cristiano Sr. is keeping totally tight-lipped about this one! Some say that she was paid quite a large sum of money to also keep her lips sealed about the whole thing, and to give him sole custody, but there isn't any proof. Cristiano has said that he'll tell his son about his mother one day, but never the rest of the world!

8 Colin Farrell

Colin Farrell isn't just a single dad; he was actually named “Hottest Single Celebrity Dad” by Perfectmatch.com in 2009. We're guessing that this is partly due to his irresistible Irish charm, but it's also because his role as a father comes with extra challenges, which any parent should be commended for. Colin is a father to James and Henry, and in 2008, he revealed that James was actually diagnosed with a very rare neuro-genetic disorder called Angelman Syndrome. Basically, this causes James to experience developmental and intellectual delay, a lack of proper speech and communication, and disturbance to his sleep. Colin has not only been there to support his son through his challenges, but has also openly supported and spoke for FAST: the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics. He's also chosen to stay single for a while to allow his sons all of his time. Sounds like a kind of superman to us!

7 Nelly

Nelly is another star who's secretly been a single dad for a while! He has two biological children called Chanel and Cornell, but Nelly is also the legal guardian of his niece and nephew, Sydney and Sean Thomas. He's raising the two siblings after their mother, his sister, tragically passed away. It's pretty clear that although he has a reputation for being a tough guy, Nelly is a total softie when it comes to his kids, and he has a huge heart! He's been known to publically defend his children on Instagram after strangers leave mean comments on their photos, showing how much he has all of their backs. It's not just his kids, or his sister's kids, that Nelly's there for though. The rapper feels really strongly about the importance of education and sends two kids from disadvantaged backgrounds to college every year, in the hope of making a difference.

6 James Marsden

Actor James Marsden is another possible contender for hottest single father of the year in our eyes! The X-Men star divorced from his wife Lisa Linde in 2011, and he became a single father of Jack and Mary. Though James and Lisa are no longer together, they still share their parenting duties in order to keep their children's lives as normal as possible. He is also a father to William Luca, whom he had with model Rose Costa in 2013. Jack is a teenager now, and luckily for a whole new generation of fans, is starting to look exactly like his dad! Well, like a blonde version of his dad! James has said that he's teaching all of his kids to stay true to their hearts and to always respect others, which we think is sound advice. He has also said that he doesn't have to give Jack too much advice, since he's a pretty smart kid!

5 Ryan Phillipe

Cruel Intentions star Ryan Phillipe became a single dad in 2007 following his divorce from Reese Witherspoon. The couple's children, Ava and Deacon, get to spend time with both mom and dad, as these two famous exes have perfectly mastered the art of co-parenting. Ryan has learned a lot from being a parent over the years, stating in one interview, “I learn from my kids. I hope that they are learning from me, as well. There is that give-and- take that happens as you age along with your kids… You cannot spend all the time thinking about yourself. You have to focus on these two children who depend on you. It keeps me balanced.” Wise words, Ryan-we totally agree! He also maintains that he and Reese have avoided raising the “little monsters” that can sometimes come out of Hollywood! Ryan also has another younger daughter, Kailani, with ex Alexis Knapp.

4 Sean Combs

Sean Combs, P. Diddy, or whatever he goes by these days, is what some would call the ultimate single dad. He has five children with a few different women, and is rocking it out totally alone. His biological sons are Justin and Christian, and he also has three daughters: twins D'Lila and Jessie, and Chance. As if that weren't enough in the family, Diddy is also the unofficial stepfather of Quincy. Although his children don't all have the same biological mother, they are all said to be very close. Quincy, Christian, D'Lila, and Jessie are the children of Diddy's ex Kim Porter, with whom he broke up with in 2007. Chance is the daughter of a former lover of his named Sarah Chapman, and Justin's mother is actually Diddy's high-school sweetheart, Misa Hylton-Brim. Diddy actually cheated on a few of these baby mamas with each other, but at least he isn't a deadbeat dad!

3 David Arquette

It always helps when you're close friends with your ex, especially if there are children in the picture. That was the case with David Arquette and Courtney Cox, who went through an extremely amicable split in 2010 and became legally divorced in 2012. During their 11 years of marriage, they had daughter Coco, and David officially became a single dad when they broke up. He and Courtney both spend time with their daughter separately, as well as scheduling family time where they put their differences aside and make it all about Coco. In fact, Coco and Courtney both cheered David on when he competed on Dancing with the Stars! David has had this to say about his Coco: “She's just so beautiful… she's the love of my life.” Cute! And if David ever struggles with the single dad thing, we're pretty sure Courtney has a few 'friends' who can help out!

2 Liam Neeson

Yes, we all want Liam Neeson to be our dad. If anybody tried to mess with us (and nobody would if they knew they'd have to face him), he would scare them away with a single phone call outlining his very particular set of skills. Seriously though, Liam is a real-life dad to Micheál and Daniel. He tragically became a single father when his wife, Natasha Richardson, passed away in a skiing accident in 2009. The loss has obviously been devastating for the family, though Liam still strives to be the best dad he can. He also has some help from a few low-key famous friends like Bono of U2, who was there to support him during the aftermath. The music superstar told Liam's son that he also lost his mother at a young age, and he would be okay in the end. “… I could have kissed him for it,” Liam told Anderson Cooper.

1 Ricky Martin

Our top famous single dad is none other than "Livin La Vida Loca" singer, Ricky Martin. The Latin pop star adopted his sons, Valentino and Matteo, as a single parent. That definitely takes a certain amount of bravery! The twins were born in 2008 via a surrogate mother, and now the family of three are as happy as ever. Although Ricky recently broke up with his partner, Carlos Gonzalez Abella, he remains independent and strong for the kids. The two are still friends and are preserving their memories and happy times. He's also about snapping his children and uploading to Instagram, which we're more than okay with! Commenting on his experience as a father, Ricky has stated in interviews that he will find it hard to give his boys the freedom he was given, since the world is such a scary place, but he will always support them. Awwwww.
