    15 Things TLC Wants Buried

Reality TV and scandal seem to be go hand in hand. There is just something about putting real people and their (mostly) real lives on TV, where millions of people can watch them, that just seems to bring the drama. Sometimes, things get so dramatic that the entire show has to be pulled off the air. A lot of the big networks are involved in producing reality TV these days, and they have all had something scandalous happen on their shows or at the least with one of the people on their reality shows.

It may come as surprise though that the channel with the most scandals revolving around its stars is TLC, The Learning Channel. You forgot that it stood for that, didn't you? And it's not hard to see why when you take a look at the kind of programming TLC has been creating for its views. The channel for trashy entertainment might seem more in line with its content. It has had a number of its reality shows cancelled because of trouble that the stars have found themselves in. And some of it gets really, really dark. It's especially ironic when you realize networks like BRAVO and E! whose reality show are about crazy people have had to cancel less shows then TLC, whose programming for the most part is packaged as wholesome and family friendly. Goes to show that sometimes the craziest people are the ones you least expect!

    15 All American Muslim Drama

The scandal revolving around this 1 season TLC show has nothing to do with its stars, but rather the publics reaction to it and the domino effect that had. All American Muslim followed the lives of an American-Lebanese family living in Michigan. It was meant to expose a different kind of American family, one whose ethnic background has been a source of controversy in America. It did not take long after the shows November 2011 air date for the backlash to come. Some groups of people felt that the show was 'Muslim propaganda' and wanted the sponsors to back out. One of these sponsors that succumbed to public pressure was Lowes which promoted celebrities as Mia Farrow to encourage people to boycott the big retailer. Eventually, TLC cancelled the show claiming it was due to low ratings. It's obvious the network could not handle the heat surrounding the show from either side though, so they would rather you would forget they ever aired it, and that they ever cancelled a show because of a group of ignorant people.

    14 Josh Duggar Is Gross

When the Duggar family premiered on TLC, there were only 14 kids with one on the way. Since they first came on TLC in 2008, they ended up being a family of 19. The most unusual thing about the family for viewers was their ultra conservative and religious lifestyles, and of course the fact that they were a family of 21 including parents Jim and Michelle Duggar. Then, their dark past was revealed, and it was too much for the network to be able to keep their family show on air. It came out that the oldest brother Josh had inappropriate contact with a number of his younger sisters. The parents response was to put a lock on their daughters' doors. All of this is exceptionally dark and ironic within the context of their super Christian 'lifestyle & values.' Josh has not appeared on TLC since the scandal, but his sisters have in specials titled 'Counting on.' It should be made clear that his sisters have publicly been very supportive of him, and seem to be more upset at the fact that this came out then upset with their brothers actions against them.

13 Toby Willis And His Dark Past

Toby Willis and his family were brought onto TLC to mimic the success that the Duggar family show had for them. It was another super Christian family with way too many kids, 12 to be exact. And like the Duggar's, all the kids names started with the letter J. They were also all billed as very musically talented and they made up a family band. Another parallel the family shared with the Duggar's, was a dark past. In 2016, the patriarch, Toby Willis tried to flee from authorities who were trying to arrest him for assaulting a child back in 2004. Once he was indicted by the Grand Jury, it came out that he had more than one young victim including his 4 oldest daughters who suffered at his hands for years. He is now serving out 40 years in prison and the show and family band has been cancelled.

12 Mama June Makes A Big Mistake

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was a hit for TLC. Heck, Honey Boo Boo (Alanna) was a hit for the network the second she appeared on Toddlers and Tiaras. Whether you loved or hated the show, there were very strong opinions in both camps making it hard too look away from the self billed red neck family living in rural Georgia. Then, tragedy struck. Matriarch Mama June and patriarch Sugar Bear ended their long term relationship not too long after finally tying the knot, allegedly due to Sugar Bears cheating ways. Then news and photos of Mama June rekindling a relationship with an old flame came out. The bad part being, this man went to jail and was accused of being inappropriate with her oldest daughter Anna. This was too much for TLC to be associated with, so the show had to be cancelled. Mama June tried to back track about the relationship and claim she was never with him, but it was too late.

11 Not So Happily Married - Sister Wives

Ah, Sister Wives. TLC really pushed the envelope with showcasing unusual families when they put a polygamist Mormon family on their network. Cody Brown had three wives and 13 kids. During the course of the show, we saw Cody get married to a fourth woman, Robyn who already had 3 children. Cody adopted her children and had two more with her, bringing the total count to 18 kids between his four wives. The seemingly picture perfect family was broken by a scandal came out about his first wife, Meri. Viewers knew that Meri seemed unhappy from watching the show, and then news came out that she was having an online affair. It didn't stop there though; it turned out that Meri was totally catfished and her online boyfriend was really a woman. Since this came out, it is not clear about the status of Cody and Meri's relationship or whether the show will be getting an 8th season.

10 Gypsy Sisters Go Too Far

There is no doubt that the stars of Gypsy Sisters were a lot less wholesome than other stars on the TLC network. They were proud Gypsies, and their lifestyles were a lot more wild than viewers were probably used too, but they made really good reality TV. It centered around a group of sisters and their two cousins. The drama was unreal, and it was hard to keep up with who was getting married, divorced, and pregnant. There was a lot of recycling going on with partners, which always brought the drama. One of the more dramatic stars of the show was Mellie, who was the 'baby' sister. She did not seem able to control herself and her unpredictable life was hard not to follow. A couple of years ago, Mellie got into a fight with her second or third husband (it isn't clear). Allegedly, during the course of the violent argument, he killed her puppy. When this news broke, TLC quickly cancelled the show.

9 Jacob Roloff Hated Growing Up On Little People Big World

TLC wants you to think that all of its stars loved their experiences being on their shows. It paints them as a good and caring employer, and of course no one wants to watch a show where you know the people hate being on it. Especially kids. Oh, and they really don't want you to ever realize their reality shows probably aren't so real. Well, Jacob Roloff, who was the youngest kid on Little People Big World, blew the whistle on that one. The youngest star of the show had not been seen on it in some time, and then the truth came out. He moved out of his house at 18 and then opened up about how much he hated being on the show. He slammed the show for being fake in an online rant. In what probably made TLC producers cringe till they died, Jacob wrote in an online rant: "The family that is filmed is not my family. They are the Roloff Characters and I have scarcely anything in common with them, nor do I want to be a character myself."

8 Josh Duggar Is Still Gross Part 2

When the big Josh Duggar scandal broke out, it had been years since he had actually committed the indiscretion against his sisters. Some people came to his defence stating that it was his young age and sheltered background that lead him to commit the offences. Okay, sure. Unfortunately for the seemingly beleaguered Josh Duggar, he would be hit with another much more recent scandal. Ashley Madison is a dating website, but what makes it unique (and kind of gross) is that it caters to married people who want to have affairs. There was a big leak when the website was hacked with many of the users exposed, including a number of public figures. One of these public figures was none other then Josh Duggar. When that broke, some of the people whom he cheated on his wife (including when she was pregnant) came out of the wood work. He has kept a very low profile since all this came out and his family almost never puts them on their social media. His wife Anna stays committed to him.

7 Jon & Kate Plus 8 - Jon Cheats On Kate

Is it a secret that Jon & Kate were unhappy? Almost the entirety of the show, which followed them from when their horde of children was very little, showed the relationship as being very tense. A lot of this was chalked up to the fact that they, you know, had 8 kids. The couple would end up divorcing, but what TLC doesn't want people to know was that for a period of time the couple was already broken up, but TLC forced them to act like a couple on the show. Jon had cheated on Kate with a 23-year-old, but it's clear the two have been unhappy for a long time before that. TLC forced them to act like they were together on camera even though they were living in separate rooms. Tabloids broke the news that they weren't really together and even Kate's brother came out and said it. The show would go on to be cancelled and later on resurrected as Kate Plus 8. Jon had a rough couple years with some very public scandals, so it seems TLC wants you to pretend he was never really in the picture.

6 Kate Gosselin Shows Her Ugly Side (Again)

Kate Gosselin deals with a lot, and no person would be able to take care of 8 kids and be on TV show without getting short and snapping once in awhile. Well, it seems that Kate is a little overly snappy, and she definitely comes off as difficult. After she appeared on Dancing With The Stars her partner on the show, Tony Dovolani came out to reveal she is just as badly behaved as people assumed. He said that after working with her he needed 'professional therapy.' Seeing how snappy and demanding Kate generally is, it is not hard to imagine how difficult it would be with to not only be her partner, but be on the one that is supposed to teach her something. It's clear that Kate thinks she knows best in everything.

5 The Cake Boss Gets A DUI

The Cake Boss and his large Italian family stole our hearts with their love for one another and their family's bakery. It was clear that Buddy, the head of the family and bakery had a great talent for baking. The cakes were big and spectacular and it was an all around feel good show! Who doesn't love beautiful delicious deserts? It seemed that TLC had finally landed upon a family friendly show that would be able to remain family friendly. In late 2014, the Cake Boss was arrested by law enforcement for driving drunk. He became belligerent upon confrontation and arrest and allegedly kept shouting that he was "The Cake Boss". While this did not cause for the show to be cancelled, TLC would appreciate if you didn't think about this incident.

4 Breaking Amish Was Basically Fake

We all know there is a certain degree of 'production' that comes along with reality shows. Producers create story lines, or at the least encourage story lines. But when a show that is billed as real is exposed as truly fake, its disappointing. We can just watch scripted dramas if we wanted that! When the show first aired the people on it were billed as having just left the secretive and devout Amish community. It came out that they had been living outside the faith for awhile already, and had a lot more to their pasts than originally thought. One of the main couples, Rebecca and Abe we revealed to have been in relationship before the show. On the show, their storyline was that they had just met and were falling in love. Another character, Kate was exposed for having a DUI in the past. This proved to viewers that she had obviously left the community before, and not of the first time just as the show aired. Numerous scandals have followed all of the cast members-it would take too long to write them all out here!

3 Jeremy Roloff And His Wife Audrey Aren't So Sweet

While the youngest Roloff has washed his hands with reality TV and Christianity, his older brother had a different approach. He and his wife Audrey are very devout Christians who run a blog that is all about having a strong marriage and being devoted to Christ. They have come under fire for coming with what some consider to be bigoted and ignorant rhetoric and beliefs. Part of their strong Christian belief in marriage means that they do not believe that the LGBTQ community has the right to get married. This is a very controversial view to hold these days, and it really bothers people when you go out of your way to promote it like this couple has done, especially given the small platform that they have.

2 Jon Gosselin's 'Fling' With Kate Major

The name Kate Major doesn't ring a bell? Well, you clearly don't read enough tabloids! She is a former Star journalist who has ended up being the subject of a lot of entertainment articles thanks to her crazy behaviour and relationship with Mike Lohan. Yes, as in Lindsay Lohan's dad. She has had an on and off again relationship with Mike Lohan. The volatile nature of the relationship made them perfect fodder for tabloids. When Jon was in his downward partying spiral after his divorce, somehow he found himself dating Kate Major. Jon denies their fling, probably because even he does not want to be associated with Major and by extension, Mike Lohan. She claims to hate him and that she would take a lie detector test to prove their fling.

1 Everything On Toddlers & Tiaras

Where to start with this show?! Toddlers wearing the outfit from Pretty Women or guzzling energy drinks and soda? Or maybe the overbearing parents whose kids you were worried for when the cameras turned off. OR, maybe the fact that little kids were being put into adult costumes and make-up? The list goes on. The show could be hard to watch, especially when it was clear the kids did not want anything to do with the show and were living out their parents' dreams. Seeing a little kid get yelled at because they didn't do their routine properly is very disconcerting. If you didn't have a problem with beauty pageants entered around children before, watching one episode of this show is enough to expose the gross reality of it. Children do not belong in adult roles. Leave the beauty pageants to 18 and above.
