Read on to find out which 15 celebs are only going to be underrated for a short time.
15 Brianna Hildebrand
Brianna may only be 20 years old, but critics are expecting this star will only become more popular in 2017. She is best known for her role in the 2016 action-comedy Deadpool, which was a huge success from the get-go. In the movie, Brianna plays Nagasonic Teenage Warhead, who has the mutant ability to detonate atomic bursts from her body. She will be reprising her role in the soon-to-be-released sequel, and fans are excited to see more of her character's teenage angst and destructive powers. Aside from Deadpool, Brianna's acting credits have been limited. She has appeared on the web show Annie Undocumented, but fans are eager to see her in more silver screen movies. As Brianna has done so well as a supporting character on Deadpool, perhaps a leading role is in her future (and maybe even this year). We're sure the Deadpool fandom would be thrilled to see this talented actress take on more roles, so here's to hoping that 2017 is a career boosting year for this underrated celebrity.
14 Miles Horn
Miles Horn is a British singer who is ready for the starlight. The musician, who plays the piano and guitar on top of writing his own music, grew up in South West London. He has been gaining a following on the London scene by performing at various open mic nights and holding shows at The Troubadour, the Bedford, and Notting Hill Arts Club. This past September, the 24-year old released his self-produced EP called Slow Motion. Since then, he has been touring and focusing on recording new music. Specifically, he has been working with music producer Ryan Samuel Bentley, who has previously worked with Jake Bugg, Isabella Summers, and Florence and the Machine (how cool is that?). With the help of Ryan, fans anticipate that Miles will release new music towards the end of 2017, so it is bound to be a big year for this young musician.
13 Tessa Thompson
Tessa Thompson is destined for stardom this year. The actress has been around for a few years but is really starting to gain traction thanks to her supporting role as Charlotte Hale in Westworld. If you have not yet started watching this amazing show, what are you waiting for? Apart from her role in the show that is making waves everywhere, Tessa is known for playing Jackie Cook on Veronica Mars and Sara Freeman in Copper, a period crime-drama. The actress has a penchant for choosing empowered roles that often center on social activism. She played the part of Nyla Adrose in For Colored Girls, Samantha White in Dear White People, and civil rights activist Diane Nash in Selma. She has also had noticeable roles in Creed and War On Everyone. In 2017, you can expect to see her star alongside Natalie Portman in the sci-fi drama Annihilation, as well as in Thor: Ragnarok.
12 Gloria Adereti
Gloria Adereti is officially the new It girl. The rising musician is well-known for her unique sound, which blends elements of soul and electronic music, and she's also got a super bold style and her voice is super edgy. She has already worked with a plethora of talented producers and labels, like Classic Music Company and Hot Creation DJ's Richy Ahmed and Citizenn. Her music is revered for giving new meaning to typical house music. You can think of it as a fusion of RnB, hip-hop, and neo-soul. 2016 was a successful year for the singer, who had 6 releases and topped the electronic charts twice. Of her plans for 2017, the singer told Mirror Online, “In 2017 I'm focusing on releasing my EP which will be a blend of soul/ electronica and heavy baselines. I will be showcasing my work in London and Manchester for the first part of the year, but It's all about working with new producers and experimenting with new sounds.”
11 Alex Lawther
The world may have found its latest teen heartthrob. Alex Lawther is a 21-year-old English actor who has gained critical applause for his portrayal of a young Alan Turing in 2014's The Imitation Game. Wow can you believe it! He earned the 2015 London Film Critics' Circle Award for Young British Performer of the Year for his part. In 2015, he also appeared in the coming-of-age drama X+Y, and was also featured in an episode of Black Mirror. In the future, the young actor will be appearing in an untitled film about A.A. Milne, alongside Margot Robbie and Domnhall Gleeson. He also has parts scheduled in Ghost Stories with Martin Freeman and will play the lead role in Freak Show, opposite Abigail Breslin and Bette Middler. Things only seem to be looking up for this young Brit and we can't wait to see what the year has in store for him.
10 Corey Hawkins
Corey Hawkins has already made a following for himself after starring on The Walking Dead and Straight Outta Compton, and we aren't surprised because these are both really popular, but 2017 is predicted to be an even bigger year for the actor. Corey grew up in Washington, D.C. and attended Julliard in New York where he received several awards for theater and acting. He began his career in Off-Broadway productions and by guest starring on T.V. In 2015, Hawkins landed the role of Heath on The Walking Dead, and also starred as Dr. Dre in the hip-hop biopic Straight Outta Compton. In 2017, he will be acting alongside Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, and Tom Hiddleston in Kong: Skull Island. He has also been cast as the male lead in the 24: Legacy, the reboot of the original 24 TV show and we're thinking that 2017 will his best year yet.
9 Sinead Harnett
Sinead Harnett is another British singer who is expected to make waves in 2017. It should come as no surprise since the songstress has already been rubbing elbows with some of the biggest names in the industry. Sinead grew up in North London and studied acting at Bournemouth University before deciding to pursue music. Her first big musical project was when she was featured on Wiley's 2011 hit “Walk Away” after being discovered on Twitter. She has since worked with Disclosure, Snakehips, and Rudimental. The musician is signed with Virgin EMIs and has since only released a few EPs, helping her to gain a domestic and international audience. She also has a successful YouTube page where she shares performances of her music, including singles like “Rather Be You” and “If You Let Me”. 2017 will be a year of touring across the UK (and hopefully the Americas) for her, so be prepared to hear this name more often.
8 Hannah John-Kamen
Hannah John-Kamen has had a successful acting career up until now, but her future is only looking brighter in 2017. The 27-year old actress has starred in a plethora of TV shows and movies already, including Black Mirror, Misfits, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Game of Thrones, and Death in Paradise. That is not a bad list of things to star in if you ask us. She first got her big break when she played Viva in the West End musical Viva Forever, having had a background as a classically trained actress, musician, and dancer. In a huge career accomplishment, Hannah was chosen by Steven Spielberg to play a supporting role in 2018's Ready Player One. Since then, rumors have said many other directors and producers are considering Hannah for other roles, which means this celebrity's star power will only increase in the new year. We bet we'll see Hannah at the Oscars in a few years.
7 Ellise Chappell
Ellise Chappell proves good things can totally come in small packages. The petite starlet is new to the acting world, but that has not stopped her from having immediate success already. Ellise only has two acting credits to her IMDB page. She starred as Jennifer Strange in 2016's The Last Dragonslayer, Sky1's big budget Christmas fantasy that critics said could turn into a full series. She also acted in two episodes of New Blood in 2016. As of now, it has been confirmed the young star will join the cast of Poldark where she will play Elizabeth's cousin, Morwenna. With movie and TV show credits to her name, we guarantee that this actress will become a household name in the next few years. The combination of her great acting skills and obvious charm are taking her places. We are excited to see what the future has in store for her and we can't wait to catch her on our screens!
6 Daisy Waterstone
Daisy Waterstone has been turning heads for some time… and she does not even have her own Wikipedia page (yet)! Success must run in her blood because Daisy is the daughter of bookshop chain owner Tim Waterstone. At only 22-years old, the upcoming starlet has an impressive acting resume. She has been playing the part of the rebellious Margo on ITV's summer hit The Durrells, and it is bound to lead to even bigger parts. Prior to this, Daisy had parts in several TV movies, including Cyberbully and The Crucible (this one we are sure you have heard of). She also had a part in the film Testament of Youth and a recurring role in the TV show Silent Witness. She also played Vik in the short film Dark Was The Night. It is clear this actress has a bright future, so it is about time someone made her a Wikipedia page.
5 Jessie Buckley
Jessie Buckley is one star to look out for. She first gained notoriety in 2008 as a runner-up on BBC talent show I'd Do Anything. She then came to prominence in 2016 for her portrayal of Marya in War and Peace, which helped her land a role opposite Tom Hardy in the upcoming drama Taboo (we do not even need to continue with her success, she has already won with this). She has also been busy filming The Last Post with director Peter Moffatt. The actress was actually born in Ireland, having been raised in Killarney, County Kerry. Her mother, who worked as a vocal coach, was evidently the one who inspired her love of acting, encouraging her artistic pursuits from a young age. Jessie dabbled in theater while in high school and reportedly had many male parts in her school-produced theater productions. We're excited to see what 2017 has in store for this Irish beauty.
4 Angourie Rice
As she is still a young teen, it is exciting to think of how far Angourie Rice will go once she is an adult and has many more acting roles under her belt. The blonde actress, who is the daughter of a director and writer, lives in Melbourne, Australia, and has previously lived in Munich and Perth (already has done way more awesome things than us, and this is not including her work). She gained prominence this past year for her phenomenal performance in The Nice Guys. Angourie made her acting debut in 2013 in the thriller These Final Hours with Nathan Phillips. In 2015, she had several stints on TV shows, including The Doctor Blake Mysteries, Worst Year of My Life Again, and Mako: Island of Secrets. As of now, the actress has signed on to have roles in Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as Sofia Coppola's upcoming film The Beguiled, opposite Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell.
3 Jessica Williams
Jessica Williams is the new fiercest face on the block. She made her debut on Daily Show back in 2012 and has been a familiar face to fans since. She has also made appearances on season 3 of HBO's Girls, and starred in the movie People Places Things. In addition to that awesomeness, Jessica co-hosts 2 Dope Queens, a comedy podcast that also features Phoebe Robinson. Her natural wit and excellent humor has given Jessica success up until now, and we're excited to see what the future holds for her. In 2017, she is playing the lead in The Incredible Jessica James opposite Chris O'Dowd, so be prepared to see more of her beautiful face. We hope we see her in more comical roles that let her comedic genius shine because we're super sure that a star has been born and we're going to see a whole lot more of her.
2 Billy Howle
Billy Howle has acted in a lot of things, so it's a wonder we haven't heard his name before this. He gave a brilliant performance in 2014's Glue, which was a TV mini-series that follows the story of a small town after the death of a local boy. Billy has had roles in other mini-series, including Witness for the Prosecution and New World. He has also appeared in the T.V. show Vera and several TV movies. The actor has two movies lined up for 2017. He will be starring as Edward Mayhew in On Chesil Beach, which is about a young couple on their honeymoon in the 1960s. Likewise, he will also appear in The Seagull, which follows the story of a young, fading actress. Both movies also star Saoirse Ronan. Be sure to look out for Billy's name the next time you go see a movie because chances are, you'll be seeing him a whole lot more often.
1 DJ Bliss
There are a lot of popular DJs these days, but DJ Bliss is quickly proving that he's different. Born and raised in the United Arab Emirates, DJ Bliss has rubbed shoulders with a lot of big names in the music business, including Will Smith, Jay Sean, and Drake. He has performed large-scale shows in Dubai, New York, and London. In 2017, the DJ is set to release a brand new album, which may or may not include a crossover hit. When interviewed by Mirror Online, DJ Bliss said, “I'm releasing three singles in 2017, one with Wyclef [Jean] and one on my own with a huge female rapper from the Dominican Republic [… ]I'm basically hoping to break through the world as the first Emirati artist to make it globally, every country has one but not the UAE.” Watch out for his tunes on the radio this coming summer.
