15 Underrated Netflix Shows You Need To Binge ASAP

Unless you permanently live under a rock, you have a pretty big Netflix addiction. It is okay. You can admit it. It is not like it is super uncool or anything since literally everyone that you know loves watching shows on this streaming service. Netflix has become a way of life, especially for millennials, and that is something that is thankfully not going to change anytime soon. While we used to feel like total losers if we were home on a Saturday night, now we are totally fine with it. Because we have Netflix. And Netflix just gets us and provides the best shows possible. From original content that Netflix has produced to shows that the service is streaming, this list of television series are worth binging and soon. Here are 15 underrated Netflix shows you need to binge ASAP. Clear your schedule, put on your comfiest clothes and get ready.

    15 Love

Did you watch this hilarious and brilliant show when it premiered on Netflix in February 2016? Maybe not. It wasn't a total critics' darling and it tended to get overshadowed by other original Netflix shows like Orange Is The New Black and revivals like Fuller House. But it's seriously worth checking out. The show tells the story of two thirtysomethings in L.A. who are dealing with life, love, and trying to grow up (even though they are nowhere close to being actual adults). It's honest and raw and real, and it's going to remind you a lot of your own experiences. Everyone has had at least one bad date in their life (if not about a million more) and so you will relate to one episode about an epic and awkward first date. You will also relate to having a crush on someone but not knowing how to take things to the next level and you will definitely relate to feeling like other people are growing up and getting on with their lives faster than you are. Season two is coming this year so make sure you're all caught up. Then you can feel much cooler than all your friends who have never watched this show before. Bonus.

    14 The Fosters

The Fosters is one teen drama that Netflix is streaming, and if you haven't watched it, you definitely should. It will remind you of shows from the 90s (aka the best decade ever) and will seriously tug at your heartstrings. The series follows the Fosters, aka married couple Stef and Lena and their multiple adopted children. It's a great mix of juicy storylines and cliffhanger that will definitely have you on the edge of your seat the whole time and some real character development. It's like a classic teen show that treats the adult characters as seriously and as important as the kids. You will wonder why you never watched it before and will soon be texting all your best friends, begging them to check it out so you can talk about it. It's honestly sweet and charming but it also has a sense of humor, so anytime it gets too movie moment or too cheesy, you don't even care.

    13 The Hotwives Of Orlando

Are you a fan of The Real Housewives? Of course, you are, right? What a question. You may not have heard of this satirical take on the reality franchise that everyone loves… and that needs to change as soon as humanly possible. The Hotwives Of Orlando stars comedic actress Casey Wilson and is a hilarious look at the women and situations that are reality TV fodder. Seriously, just think about this for a minute: if the actual reality series is so funny (even when it's not trying to be… and especially when it's not trying to be), just how much more hilarious would a satire of it be? Exactly. It's truly that funny. So if you need a break from your favorite reality show but still want something light and fun and hilarious, then you need to watch this show. You will probably binge it super fast and then be sad that you finished it, but hey, that's just part of the whole Netflix experience. You would be doing it wrong if you didn't do that.

    12 The Grinder

This short-lived sitcom is now streaming on Netflix and if you haven't watched it yet, there is one reason why you should check it out: Rob Lowe. Yeah, exactly. You totally get it. Sadly, it only got one season (despite the fact that it stars Rob Lowe -- yeah, we're shocked too). It's a really funny, smart and sweet show about an actor who played a TV lawyer who moves back home… and starts working at his brother's law firm. Since you're definitely pop culture (and TV) obsessed, you will really love this show since it talks about entrainment and celebrities and the line between fact and fiction. This will be a pretty quick binge since there aren't that many episodes… which just means that you can watch it twice. If you don't think that you want to watch it twice, just remember that it stars Rob Lowe and you will change your mind.

    11 Lovesick

This is basically the ultimate millennial TV show. It's about a group of friends (as these shows tend to be about) and it focuses on one guy who learns that he's got an STD and has to tell everyone that he has been with about it. Yeah, talk about awkward AF. It's a pretty brilliant name, right? We think so. You may not have watched this show yet or even heard about it because it's definitely been flying under the radar, but it's always good when a show takes on the twentysomething experience. It's a funny show, even if it might not seem like it from the premise. Binge it to your heart's content. And be super glad that you're not in this crazy confusing and complicated position. You will be really happy with the way that your life is going when you watch this show, that's for sure, and you'll never take things for granted ever again.

    10 Please Like Me

Please Like Me is a sitcom from Australia, so go ahead and watch it -- and brag to all your friends that you're super cultured now. The title totally draws you in, right? It's pretty great and basically follows a group of friends around as they deal with love, dating, and just trying to find out who they are. You know. The usual stuff that makes such great comedy. There has been three seasons and a fourth is in the works so what are you waiting for? You definitely don't want to get left behind and you definitely want to be caught up on all the episodes available as soon as you can. Then you can name-drop the show and make all your friends watch it. They won't want to be left out and be less cool than you, so they will definitely get into it, too. You will definitely be able to relate to this one, but even if you don't, you'll laugh a lot.

    9 Chef's Table

Calling all foodies and amateur chefs. But even if you do not even step foot in your kitchen and your take-out menus are your best friends, you will still enjoy this food-centric show. Every episode features a different chef and a different restaurant. It is a truly fascinating look at the global world of food, and since you obviously like food, even if you do not enjoy cooking it, you will learn something new every time. Think of it like getting a crash course in the foodie scene. You will have lots of fun facts and information to tell people at parties when you are racking your brain for something to say, and you will just feel like a more interesting, cultured person once you have binged the entire thing. Plus you will feel pretty smart since you are watching this instead of, say, a certain reality show that you are pretty obsessed with.

    8 Life In Pieces

Have you seen this sitcom yet? Probably not. It tends to get lost among other family-centric shows like Modern Family but it's absolutely worth checking out. It features a pretty crazy family and each episode has four mostly separate stories. It's funny, which of course is also pretty much necessary for a sitcom, but it's also charming and sweet and heartwarming in its own way. It's one of those quirky shows that really gets under your skin and makes you want to binge it until you've watched every last episode. And then you'll be in withdrawal. But again, that's just part of the whole deal. The show is currently in its second season so what are you waiting for? The time is now to start bingeing. You will honestly be hooked from the very first episode and will be asking yourself why you waited so long to start watching it.

    7 Sense 8

This supernatural series has gotten lost in the mix of other shows, but it's honestly very interesting. Sense 8 is about eight characters who all live in different places but have one thing in common: they can communicate with each other telepathically. If that doesn't make you want to drop everything on your schedule and binge ASAP, well, we're not sure what to say. Because it sounds pretty fascinating to us. Since the show has been streaming on Netflix, it has gotten really good feedback from critics, so that's another reason that you should be watching it. Of course, you don't care what people say since if you love a show, you're going to watch it and you don't care. But it's always a bonus when you know that people are loving something. It just makes you want to watch it even more. It's technically a science fiction series, so if that is something that you're into, that's all the more reason to watch it.

    6 Chelsea

You may be a fan of Chelsea Handler, but of course, that doesn't mean that you binged her Netflix talk show when it first came out. It's super easy for shows to get lost in the shuffle (or the stream). There's just so much good content out there, particularly when it comes to television shows, and it can be tough to know what you should be watching first. Here's a tip: watch this show. If you love her sense of humor, then you will automatically love the show since it's basically all about her thoughts, feelings, and opinions. The first season features a lot of celebrity guests like Gwen Stefani and Chris Evans and Christina Aguilera. So based on those names, you can already guess how epic and awesome the show is, right? Right. If you're wondering why you haven't watched this yet, yeah, we kind of are too. So why wait?

    5 Grace And Frankie

This Netflix show is considered a hit or miss thing with critics. Some think it's hilarious and heartwarming. Others? Not so much. It's totally up to you, but we think that it's pretty funny and sweet and that you should binge it on a Friday night when you want to laugh and cry at the exact same time. After all, it stars some pretty awesome actors: Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Martin Sheen, and Sam Waterston. Yes. As in Hollywood royalty. You may have not watched it because you're a lot younger than the main characters, but honestly, that's a silly reason not to check it out. You will relate to the characters because they're essentially going through a second coming-of-age even though they're much older. They're finding themselves, they're figuring out their lives, and they're trying to find love and happiness. That's what you're always doing, right? Exactly. No age barrier here.

    4 Last Chance U

You know those shows where you watch one episode -- or even ten minutes -- and immediately wish that you had zero weekend plans because now all you want to do is binge it all as soon as you can? Yeah. This is that show. Or at least it will be if you give it a chance since you may not have even heard of it. This documentary series has been advertised as something that fans of Friday Night Lights will love. So if that's you (and of course it is since that show is something epic), then you want to watch this soon. Clear your Friday night and get ready. The show follows the real life story of a bunch of college football players and it's definitely an interesting ride. Yes, it's a bit tough to watch sometimes because it's pretty sad and emotional, but that's even more of a reason to watch.

    3 Chewing Gum

If you want a quirky and funny series, then this one is it. It's from Britain and features a bunch of characters who live in London, so much like another show on this list, it will make you feel super awesome and cultured. Always a bonus. The first season is super short -- it's only six episodes (yes, really) -- so this is something that you could honestly binge in an evening. You know you could do it. You're a master binger, right? It could basically be your job… and now you're depressed that it's not actually your job. Think about how awesome that would be. Oh well. You're just going to have to keep devoting your weeknights and weekends to Netflix, which isn't that hard since it's honestly your all-time favorite activity. Who needs to go outside and get some fresh air? Definitely not you. At least not when you have such great shows to watch.

    2 Master Of None

If you're in your 20s or 30s and are having a tough time dating (like everyone… ), then you need to be watching this show. Created and written by funny man Aziz Ansari, who also wrote the non-fiction book Modern Romance, it's a show about finding love and finding the humor in it, too. You will be able to relate to the dilemmas that the characters faced, from trying to figure out if their crushes are crushing on them too to wondering what kind of text message to send. You will laugh, you might even cry because it's so sweet and heartwarming sometimes, and you will especially love the episodes that feature Aziz's parents. Yes, his real-life parents play his parents on the show. It's pretty awesome and pretty epic and will make you think of your own lovely mom and dad. If this was one show that you never binged, then you need to change that as soon as you possibly can, and you won't regret it.

    1 The OA

If you haven't watched The OA, you probably have at least one friend who is on your case, wondering why you're not obsessing over it yet. This has been hailed as the final binge of 2016 since it was released on Netflix in mid-December. It's a super creepy and supernatural series about a woman who comes back to her hometown after disappearing years and years before. But this isn't your typical story: she was part of what seems to be a strange and absorbing cult, and oh yeah, she suddenly regained her eyesight. It's a really magical science-fiction series and will have you on the edge of your seat. If you think you know what's going on and what's going to happen next, well, you will always be wrong. It's not predictable in the least and it's truly an amazing work of television. So get to it and learn just how epic it really is. Thanks Netflix. You're the best.
