15 WTF Moments You Forgot Happened On 'Grey's Anatomy'

If there's one thing that you know for sure in this life, it's that Grey's Anatomy has been on the air for a super long time. The first episode premiered back in 2005 and the show is currently in its 13th season. You either still love the show and never miss an episode… or you gave up on it long ago and can't believe that people are still tuning in. You probably relate to the first option, though, because let's face it: there are few shows that are as fascinating and sometimes crazy as Grey's. You get really attached to the characters, you skip pretty much every potential couple, and you never get over the break-ups and conflict. This show is the very definition of dramatic and it's still really well done. Or at least that's what you tell all your friends who have long stopped watching. Sigh. Of course, since the show has been around for over a decade, it would be impossible for you to remember everything that has happened. Here are 15 WTF Moments that you forgot happened on Grey's Anatomy.

15 Alex Told Everyone That Izzie Was A Model

Not just any model. A lingerie model. Yes, really. You probably can't remember this at all and no one would blame you at all. Because the truth is that happened way back in season one. As in 2005. That was a long time ago for both you and the characters. Izzie is, of course, not super thrilled that Alex has told everyone at the hospital that she used to model bras and underwear. This is definitely a WTF moment because you can't really imagine Izzie doing that. Sure, she's super gorgeous, but since she wants to be a doctor, you just wouldn't expect this from her. You might have expected it from another character at the hospital, but not her. This really felt like a random storyline and it definitely wasn't something that you remembered. Because up until now, you really had no idea that this had happened.

14 George And Meredith Had A One Night Stand

Remember in the first season when George had a huge crush on Meredith? No, you don't remember this. What about when the two of them slept together? What?! They did?! Yup, this happened and yup, it was a WTF moment. You didn't think that this should have happened and it made you feel all kinds of awkward. At this point in the show, you weren't sure who George should end up with, but you definitely knew that it wasn't Meredith. Because from the pilot, you were rooting for Meredith and Derek. You were shipping them. And there was no way that you would ever think that Meredith should ever be with someone else. This was a random storyline and you never were on board with it. It makes you shudder even picturing it now. If you could go back in time, you would totally stop this from taking place.

13 Cristina Had A Difficult Pregnancy

In the third episode of the second season, Cristina fainted in the hospital and it turned out that her pregnancy was super difficult. She was given a bed and had to recover. You knew by then that Cristina was not going to have a baby. Ever. From the moment that you saw her at the hospital, you knew that surgery was her great love and that she didn't want to have a baby. But this was a really upsetting storyline and a WTF moment because you just couldn't believe how sad it was. Even though Cristina didn't want to be pregnant, the fact that she was suffering and going through something so horrible was one of those Grey's storylines that makes you wonder just how much these poor people have to suffer. It was also a really complicated plotline since it made Cristina think about what she really wanted for her life and it brought up the whole "Should you feel guilty if you don't want to be a parent?" question.

12 Burke Left Cristina On Their Wedding Day

Remember Dr. Burke? You may have blocked him out because he was so cruel to Cristina. It's time to take a trip down memory lane and think about the wedding that never was. Cristina wasn't super into the idea of being married and being part of a family that you create. It just wasn't in her DNA or bones or whatever you want to say. But she agreed and she was there, ready and waiting. She stood at the alter and waited… and waited… and waited. And Burke never showed up. Yup, he left her on her wedding day and that was that. It was completely devastating but it was also a WTF moment because you couldn't believe that after all that, Burke would really do something like that. It was hard to wrap your head around this and you were super stunned when you watched this episode. You are probably still surprised thinking about this now, all these years and episodes later.

11 Why Callie And Arizona Broke Up

Sure, you know that Callie and Arizona broke up (mostly because now Callie is off the show and you are super sad about it). But do you remember why they broke up? Probably not. It was a really long time ago, after all (or maybe it only feels that way because so much happens on this show). The reason why this amazing couple broke up is because Arizona slept with someone else (aka Peyton from One Tree Hill). Sure, you totally understand that cheating is a really big deal and that for some people, it's a deal breaker. This was the very definition of a WTF moment for you because you just didn't understand why they couldn't make things work. Callie and Arizona were so much pain thanks to the horror movie of a plane crash (more on that later) and part of the tension was that Arizona hated that Callie had to remove her leg. Yeah, that's pretty heavy stuff. But you really believe in this couple and still think they should have stayed together.

10 Why Jackson And April Broke Up

Oh man. You just can't even with these two. They clearly are still madly and hopelessly in love and you think that they need to stay together and that will be it. No more break-ups. No more fights. No more conflict and super confusing arguments. When Jackson and April broke up, it was because she was halfway across the world volunteering and she wanted to stay longer than she had originally planned. Because she was mourning the loss of her baby. And she was having a really tough time. But Jackson was pissed off. He was so mad that he decided that was that, they had to go their separate ways. April was pretty miserable about this news and you were too. You probably forgot the exact reason why these two broke up because it was so confusing to you. But now that you've been reminded, you're still upset, right?

9 Derek Wanted To Make Things Work With Addison

In your mind, Derek and Meredith were going to be together forever. Absolutely. Without a doubt. You knew that from the very first episode of this show and you never that on the terrible day that he died. You still can't believe that he's gone and in your mind, these two are still destined to be together. So you might have forgotten that once upon a time, Derek wanted to make things work with Addison. He felt that he had made a commitment to her and that he needed to honor that. And that's exactly what he told Meredith when he said that they couldn't be together. That was a shock to you and you felt that he was definitely making the wrong decision. But you probably blocked this out because it was a.) traumatic day and b.) a lot has happened since then. Now that you think about it, though, it's definitely a prime WTF kind of moment.

    8 Derek Was Once Chief

Yup, he was… but you can't remember this. In your mind, Derek is a surgeon and that's it. He could have no other job or role in life. You love everything about him as a surgeon. You love how smart he is. You love his motto ("It's a beautiful night to save lives") and, most of all, you love his hair. Okay, okay, so his beautiful hair has literally nothing to do with his talent as a surgeon, but hey, you're just throwing it into the mix. One WTF moment on this show was when Derek was the chief. It was a short-lived thing and he ended up quitting since he knew that it wasn't the best thing for him. You also can't believe that this really happened since as far as you're concerned, there is only one chief and that's Richard. Sorry Bailey. You're the best but you're getting into so much trouble as chief and it seems like you're pretty miserable in this new role.

7 When Jackson's BFF Charles Died

You may be feeling pretty kind of guilty right about now since the truth is, it can be hard to remember who Charles was. Once you refresh your memory, you realize that, oh yeah, he was a doctor at a rival hospital that started working at this one when the two places merged. He and Jackson became the best of friends… and then he died. Yup. He's gone now. Talk about tragic and upsetting… and talk about something that you totally and completely forgot about. The thing is that there have been so many crazy and WTF moments on this show that you can't possibly remember them all. That would be a lot of tragic stuff to keep in your head. You just can't do that. You love this show, sure, but you have your own life and stuff to deal with and sometimes, you just can't keep up with everything that's going on.

6 April Was Engaged To Someone Other Than Jackson

There has literally never been a time when April and Jackson weren't totally destined to be together. Once upon a time, it looked like maybe that would never happen. A few seasons back, April was going to marry someone else. Remember the character Matthew?! Maybe not. Okay, probably not. Because again, this is a crazy show and so much has gone down. But once upon a time, April and Matthew were engaged. She knew that she should be with Jackson. You knew it, too. And Jackson definitely knew it. This was a true WTF moment since you knew that if April went through with the ceremony, she would end up truly miserable and they would just get divorced. You basically wanted to grab her by the shoulders and shake some sense into her (no, that's not weird at all). Thankfully, things worked out. Well, kind of. You still want them to be together.

5 Alex Used To Sleep With All The Interns

Yup. This was a thing. Alex definitely got around. It's hard to remember since these days, Alex is such a one-woman kind of guy (aka he's all about Jo). Of course, those two have had a rough time of things lately and you are desperately hoping that they will work their issues out. Alex was a completely different person back then. He was basically a jerk (and that's putting it nicely). He was pretty cold, he spoke without thinking first, and he didn't think about anything or anyone except for himself. Okay, okay, he was good with the kids and he was good at his job. But he didn't have a soft spot in his entire body. These days, you love Alex and are super happy that he doesn't have to go to prison. You wouldn't be able to deal with that. It was definitely strange, though, that Alex was sleeping with all the interns. You always knew that he was a sweetheart deep down and you always wanted to see him at his best.

4 Amelia And Derek Never Got Along

Back in the day, aka when Derek was still alive and working at the hospital and all was well with the world, Amelia and Derek never got along. At all. She seemed really insecure about her position at the hospital and in the field of neurosurgery since she was always in the shadow of her brother, and he seemed to never really take her very seriously. This was something that you hated about Derek… and that really sucked since you didn't think that you could ever hate anything about him. After all, he was McDreamy. It's hard to think about this since you don't want to think badly of Derek or Amelia. You love them both. But the two of them weren't super nice to each other and you think that they were both to blame. Nothing is ever simple when it comes to siblings because there are so many issues, but you wanted more from these two.

3 Leah Was Fired And Then Rehired

Oh Leah. Do you love her? Do you hate her? Do you even remember that this character exists? You might have answered "yes" to any of those questions but the truth is, you don't really get why she was rehired at the hospital. You think that sometimes, there can be way too many characters on this show. But that's not a criticism of this drama in particular. This is something that you think about a whole bunch of TV shows that feature a massive cast. You would love to see more storylines about Bailey and Richard and the characters that you have been watching and loving for so many years. It's hard to care about minor characters that you can barely keep track of. So you were thinking WTF when Leah was fired because it didn't really make sense that she would even work at the hospital in the first place if she was just going to leave… and you thought it was strange when she came back, too.

2 Meredith Disappearing After Derek's Death

Do you remember that when Derek died, Meredith totally disappeared? It was a real mystery. Literally no one knew where she was… and when she came back home to Seattle and to the hospital and everyone, it was clear that, oh yeah, she had a baby. Talk about crazy. You were shocked to learn this and also super sad. You basically asked yourself WTF since you had no idea why she would have left like this. Yeah, you get the whole grief thing, and you know that Meredith has always been a bit of a loner (and her person Cristina was gone too). But you really did not understand why Meredith wouldn't allow absolutely anyone to help her through this rough time. You may have forgotten that this happened since so much has gone down since then, but now you know again. Oh man. This has been a wild ride.

1 The Plane Crash (aka The Worst Thing Ever)

This was an epic episode of Grey's Anatomy and contained about a million WTF moments. if you can barely recall it, despite how crazy it was, no one would blame you. You probably just blocked it out because it was so upsetting to watch. Yup, that's it. There was a plane crash in the season eight finale and it was the worst thing ever. Here's a list of the things that happened: Lexie died. Mark died. Arizona ended up losing her leg. Meredith was convinced that Derek had passed away. And oh yeah, the doctors were essentially stranded in the middle of nowhere for a fair bit of time. Just another day at the office… Everyone was injured, there was a lot of blood, and it was just really disturbing. You were thinking WTF basically the entire time. Yeah, it's probably a good thing that you forgot about how crazy this was…
