20 Gay Men That Most Women Still Fantasize About
Hollywood offers us a plethora of hot guys to drool over and who we imagine sweeping us off our feet, from the ones that are classic, movie-star handsome with rock-hard bodies to those that can make us swoon with a lop-sided smile and a razor-sharp wit. Even though they're usually off the market, caught up in the arms of some famous actress or genetically-blessed supermodel, we still like to daydream about what life would be like if we were the women they lay next to in bed every night.
And it doesn't just stop with straight guys! In fact, there are tons (and I mean TONS) of gay celebrities who have been the subject of female fantasies for ages, from the golden boys of old-time Hollywood like Rock Hudson to the newest major-league hotties like Colton Haynes. Hey, our lady parts can't tell the difference, and they wouldn't care even if they could! With carved jawlines and impeccably-kept bodies, charming senses of humor and impressive levels of intelligence, these 20 gay men are still regularly getting starring roles in our sexiest of dreams. And why shouldn't they? These guys are just hot, period.
20 Marc Jacobs
He's as easy on the eyes as his fashion is flattering to the female form, but designer, fashion house head, and perfumer Marc Jacobs has left a lot of women in the lurch since the talented brunette has long been outspoken about his sexuality. He's so out, in fact, that in addition to being named one of Out magazine's “50 Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America in 2012”, he also made headlines in 2015 when he famously declared that he deleted the gay hook-up app Grindr after indulging in a 10-man orgy!
While Marc is definitely a grade-A hottie with his dark hair, chiseled body, and multiple tattoos, his proud status as a gay man has without a doubt disappointed many women who wished that they could sink their claws into that hunk of fashionable beefcake! However, despite the aforementioned multi-person party, Marc has only been in four high-profile relationships, including a marriage to Lorenzo Martone, a fashion entrepreneur in 2010. At least we'll always have his clothing, accessories, makeup, and perfume!
19 Ricky Martin
Singer Ricky Martin constantly battled rumors regarding his sexuality throughout his rise to fame in the late '90s and early '00s due to his largely gay fan base, but brushed them off with explicit music videos that saw him grinding up against many beautiful women. While he was in the music business at an early age, as the cutest member of the boy band, Menudo, Ricky didn't hit it big until late 1999. In 2000, Ricky stated that he shouldn't have to discuss his orientation, but eventually publicly came out as gay in 2010 on his website, despite having a 14-year long relationship with Mexican TV host Rebecca de Alba. Since then, the brunette with the body of a Greek god and a smile that lights up a room has been making women swoon over his dedicated parenting to his two twin boys, Matteo and Valentino, who were delivered by surrogate in 2008. An outspoken supporter of gay rights and gay marriage, Ricky also delivered a speech to the UN on homophobia in 2012.
18 Neil Patrick Harris
One of the most recognized gay celebrities who gives everyone #familygoals with his adorable children, twins Harper and Gideon, and husband David Burtka, Neil Patrick Harris is a veritable triple threat who has used his talents on stage and the big and small screens to win women over with his wit and boyish good looks. Another child star, NPH got his start as the child prodigy Doogie Howser on the show Doogie Howser, MD, and was soon pinned up on many a girl's bedroom wall. Then, he played the memorable role of Lothario, Barney Stinson on How I Met You Mother, a total lady-loving playboy that offered proof that gay actors shouldn't be pigeonholed into playing stereotypical (and offensive) roles. With his blue eyes, infectious smile, and piles of charm, NPH has been the kind of smart, funny, relatable man that most women still find themselves fantasizing about, even though they'd never dream of attempting to break up the perfect family unit he's since created.
17 Tom Ford
Another fashion designer, Tom Ford has channeled his artistic skills into directing films, including the critically acclaimed A Single Man and Nocturnal Animals. As a screenwriter, director, producer, and fashion designer, Tom is one of the most recognizable names and faces in the creative world - and it's easy to see why! In addition to being multi-talented, Tom is both stylish and sexy, with impeccable grooming and a classic look that makes women want to see what's under those clothes and also have him dress them himself!
Unfortunately, Tom has long been off the market, as he's married to Richard Buckley, a journalist and former editor-in-chief for Vogue Hommes International, and the two have been involved since meeting in 1986. They also have a son together, Alexander John “Jack” Buckley Ford, who was born in 2012. Like Marc Jacobs, who is also off the market (at least for women), thankfully we're still able to enjoy all of Tom's fashions and creations instead!
16 Tom Daley
A bronze medal-winning Olympic diver, Brit Tom Daley has an accent that's as adorable as his smile, but unfortunately for us ladies, he's simply not interested! At only 22 years old, Tom garnered quite a fan following, especially at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, the latter of which saw him showing off his fit swimmer's body in the synchronized 10m and individual 10m platforms.
In 2013, however, Tom announced via YouTube that he was involved in a relationship with a man, and that he'd never been happier, although he did admit it was difficult for him to make the decision to come out. Since then, he has been engaged to filmmaker Dustin Lance Black, although Tom did admit to engaging in a cyber session with a fan and talking to other men online, which we can't entirely blame this gorgeous guy for, since he's still young, embracing his sexuality, and engaged to a man 20 years his senior.
15 Bob Harper
He got his incredibly buff body from coaching many people on the TV show The Biggest Loser, but while he's earned a reputation for being a stellar coach and voice of encouragement, he's only recently spoken out about his place in the gay community. The personal trainer, vegan, and CrossFit athlete actually came out on a 2013 episode of The Biggest Loser in order to encourage a contestant to come out to his own father. While Bob had come out to his own family at the age of 17, he hadn't addressed the issue of his sexuality to the public until then.
The tattooed and chiseled Bob is now in a relationship with Anton Gutierrez, who is in as good a shape as Bob, leaving a whole lot of ladies seething with jealousy over two gorgeous, manly specimens totally off the market for them. The couple seems totally happy, especially in light of Bob's recent heart attack scare this past February, and live sweetly in domestic bliss.
14 Matt Dallas
An American actor with messy dark hair, a fit body, and the kind of piercing green eyes that look like they're colored contacts, it's a shame that Matt Dallas has been officially off-limits since his 2015 marriage to singer/songwriter Blue Hamilton, with whom he's adopted a son, Crow. His striking good looks didn't only make him a household name for those who watched him in ABC Family's Kyle XY, but he also portrayed the love interest in music videos, opposite Mischa Barton in James Blunt's “Goodbye My Lover” and opposite Katy Perry in her single “Thinking of You”.
Matt didn't come out as gay until he tweeted his engagement news in 2013, but speculation had abounded, even linking him to Jonathan Bennett in 2009. Like more and more celebrities these days, Matt's decision to come out was remarkably chill and subtle, one of the many reasons why we still can't stop thinking about him!
13 Reid Ewing
Another actor who addressed his coming out without much show, Reid Ewing is probably best know for his role of Dylan, Hayley's dumb-but-hot boyfriend on the sitcom Modern Family. While Reid is undoubtedly one of the best-looking guys to grace our TV screens, he unfortunately didn't think so, and underwent multiple surgeries to correct his perceived flaws, a result of his battle with body dismorphic disorder.
When he “outed” himself in 2015, Reid had tweeted that he thought Eugene Bata, a handsome, young New York resident, who appeared on an episode of Good Morning America was “hot af”, and when a Twitter follower asked if he had outed himself, Reid simply replied, “I was never in.” We hope that his comfort in his sexuality will transition into his appearance, because, as you can see from the photo, there's no point in messing with something that is already, in his words, “hot AF”.
12 Don Lemon
One of the most recognizable (and best-looking) talking heads on CNN, American journalist Don Lemon is yet another gorgeous man who will never be won over by a woman. A well-spoken and charming media personality, Don came out in his memoir, Transparent, in 2011, although he had been out to his family and friends for decades. When asked why he waited so long to admit his sexuality, he said frankly that he was afraid to lose his livelihood and worried about “people who claim to love everyone while simultaneously thinking that everyone's love isn't equal.”
In addition to being out of bounds for women, Don has been in a happy relationship with choreographer John Byrne for quite some time, although the two of them have kept things pretty low-key, and may be a little rocky at the moment, since an inebriated Don dished during a New Year's broadcast that he was “a bad person to date” because he is “very self-centered”. But, one look at those brown eyes, and you can pretty much forgive anything!
11 Jonathan Bennett
Doesn't he look sexy with his hair pushed back? The subject of lust for Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams in Mean Girls, would it surprise you to know that actor Jonathan Bennett is actually gay? Unfortunately, Jonathan was actually outed by someone else - Dancing With the Stars' Julianne Hough! She spilled the beans in an interview with Extra, saying that she wanted to date him, but learned he was gay and so “that wasn't going to work”. As we already mentioned, Jonathan was linked to Matt Dallas, the hottie who's number 14 on this list.
Despite Julianne's reveal back in 2014, Jonathan, now the host of Cake Wars and the kind of guy who gives major eyebrow goals, still has not publicly confirmed or denied any of the speculation regarding his sexuality, even though he was voted the number one hottest gay celebrity the same year. While we're inclined to believe he is more into men, one thing is definitely sure: he's still as hot as he was when he played Aaron Samuels!
10 Wentworth Miller
You probably know him best from his tattooed, ripped role in the TV show Prison Break, and British-American actor Wentworth Miller has been breaking hearts and figuratively dropping panties ever since! Despite being a major looker, Wentworth found himself the subject of a pretty brutal meme around 2010 and a couple years after, when he was dealing with binge-eating disorder and suicidal thoughts (where he used food to cope with his depression), the latter of which he had dealt with since he was a teenager and had come out to those close to him.
Although Wentworth initially denied his orientation in 2007, he finally came out publicly in 2013 on GLAAD's website, where he declined an invitation to the St. Petersburg Film Festival on account of their treatment of the LGBTQ community. He's kept pretty tight-lipped about his personal life, but when a guy looks as good as Wentworth does, we're sure there are plenty of men beating down his door for a chance with this sensitive stud.
9 Cheyenne Jackson
If Cheyenne Jackson looks familiar, it might be because you saw him in the recent seasons of American Horror Story, along with a couple other entries on this list! If you know that, then you might not be surprised that, like some of his costars, Cheyenne is out and proud (and a looker to boot)! A singer-songwriter as well as an actor, Cheyenne has been married twice, most recently to actor Jason Landau, with whom he tied the knot in September 2014 and welcomed twins, Willow and Ethan, just this past October!
With his chiseled face and smoldering good looks, it's no surprise that Lady Gaga wanted to sink her claws (literally) into him in American Horror Story: Hotel, which saw him playing the role of bisexual fashion designer Will Drake. With a face and body that gorgeous, who can blame Mother Monster for wanting to snag a piece of him for herself?
8 Anderson Cooper
Your favorite silver fox, Anderson Cooper's charm and good looks have gotten him pretty far in life - and in the hearts of his female fans! While the journalist, media personality, and author is considered one of the most prominent gay icons in modern society, Anderson actually didn't come out publicly until 2012. He took the route of an email, to be published on The Daily Beast website, in which he said, quite simply, “I'm gay, always have been, always will be.”
While he waited until he was in his 40s to let the public know about his private life, the blue-eyed host of Anderson Cooper 360 came out to his friends in high school, and to his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, when he was 21, although he stated since that he wished he had been more clear in admitting to her that he was gay, and not questioning. No matter what way his romantic interests lie, we're just happy to park ourselves in front of the TV to drown in those baby blues.
7 Frank Ocean
In rap and hip-hop, the misogyny and male chauvinism that can color much of the scene is notorious for making it incredibly difficult for men to come out as gay or bisexual, for fear of judgment, rejection, or even violence. Fortunately, this was not the case for Frank Ocean, the critically- and commercially-acclaimed rapper who chose to come out via Tumblr in 2012, on which he posted a letter citing his unrequited love for a man with whom he first developed feelings for at 19. (We can't imagine who would dare leave Frank hanging - just look at him!) Instead, the hip-hop community embraced the rapper's reveal, with many major celebrities like Jay-Z and Beyoncé voicing their support.
It seems to have been a good move for the artist, who says he feels like a free man for coming out, and his recent, long-awaited album, Blonde, is cited as being his “boldest, queerest project to date” by Rolling Stone, so at least we can enjoy his music even if he never gets to be ours!
6 Lee Pace
Another hottie who was outed against his will, actor Lee Pace had a lot of people wondering about his sexuality before his costar in The Hobbit, Ian McKellen (also a gay man), said in an interview, “Just look only how many openly gay actors in The Hobbit there were: two of the dwarves, to Luke Evans, Stephen Fry, Lee Pace.” Oops!
While Lee has definitely been making geek girls across the globe swoon over his roles in films like The Hobbit, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, he was only attracting the admiration of men in his private life, as he hadn't come out to the public until McKellen's loose lips sunk that ship! Rumors abounded that Lee was involved with his Hobbit costar, Richard Armitage, those were squashed when it was revealed that Richard had gotten engaged to his girlfriend, Samantha Colley. However, that means that Lee is still free (although perhaps not for us ladies).
5 Luke MacFarlane
Luke MacFarlane was rumored to have dated Wentworth Miller (number 10) before Wentworth was officially out of the closet, but that doesn't mean we haven't stopped daydreaming about this gorgeous hunk of Canadian bacon! The actor, who is best known for his role on the TV series Brothers & Sisters (in which he also played a gay man), came out to The Globe and Mail in 2008, before he had even landed his big role. Since then, he's definitely proven himself to be a bit of a hottie playboy with a long dating list that includes the aforementioned Wentworth and Grey's Anatomy alumnus, T.R. Knight.
Regularly named as one of the most beautiful gay men in Hollywood, Luke has enamoured himself to both men and women, and it's easy to see why! Most of his roles have him doffing his shirt for our viewing pleasure and we just have to say one thing to that: keep it coming!
4 Colton Haynes
He's certainly easy on the eyes, but actor and former Abercrombie & Fitch pin-up (he's got the abs to prove it!), Colton Haynes, had a bittersweet time when he officially came out to his fans. Although there was much speculation about the Teen Wolf star's sexuality, Colton refused to admit anything, citing his lifelong battle with anxiety, until May 2016 in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Since then, Haynes has said that coming out has made him happier than ever (he knew he was gay in the first grade), but that coming out to his family at 14 was rough. Although he isn't certain, Colton believes that his father, who committed suicide, did so in response to Colton's admission of his sexuality. However, the actor, gay icon, and social media superstar seems to have found his happily ever after, giving his Greek god features and rock-hard body over to his current relationship with celebrity florist Jeff Leatham!
3 Luke Evans
We've mentioned this hottie in passing, but the smoulderingly sexy Welsh actor Luke Evans (Gaston in the live-action reboot of Beauty & the Beast) deserves a spot all his own. Just look at him! He's regularly used his buff body to take on majorly macho roles in films like Fast & Furious 6, The Hobbit, and Clash of the Titans, and we are more than happy to see him take off his shirt to give us a glimpse of his ripped physique.
Luke is an openly gay man, and in an interview in 2002, he said that he never tried to hide it. In 2014, he again acknowledged his homosexuality, but explained that he works in an industry based on marketability, and so he is less inclined to address questions about his personal life in the media, for fear that he would be pigeonholed or lose out on roles. Hey, he's still a gay action hero, and even if we can't have him in the exact way we want him, we'll still definitely take him!
2 Zachary Quinto
Another regular contributor to the American Horror Story series and geek girl fan favorite, actor Zachary Quinto has been a heartbreaker for ages, even before he publicly came out in 2011, since he's since admitted that he's not a big believer in marriage, gay or straight. Before he came out, the dark-haired, dark-eyed Zachary had long been a vocal supporter of gay rights and organizations, and had since said that “living a gay life without publicly acknowledging it is simply not enough to make any significant contribution to the immense work that lies ahead on the road to complete equality.”
He's had a few high-profile relationships since coming out, most recently with model and artist Miles McMillan, and has been a controversial figure in the gay community since coming out, in part regarding his views on celebrity queer-baiting (when straight celebrities participate in steamy same-sex shoots without addressing their sexuality directly), but we wouldn't have this Spock hottie any other way!
1 Matt Bomer
Lady Gaga had it right when she said that Matt Bomer has “a jawline for days” in American Horror Story: Hotel, but that's not all this gorgeous man has to offer! A classically handsome actor, Matt has levied his incredible good looks to play major sex symbol roles, like in the film Magic Mike, which saw him strip down for our personal enjoyment.
While Matt publicly came out as gay in 2012 during an awards acceptance speech in which he thanked his husband, publicist Simon Halls, the two had actually tied the knot a year earlier in 2011! The couple now have three sons, including a set of twins, born via surrogacy: Walker, Henry, and Kit. A major LGBT activist, Matt has used his public image to defend the rights of the community in which he's proud to be a part. It's easy to see why he earned the number one spot on this list, because what woman hasn't found herself daydreaming about this Missouri-born hunk?
