Grey's Anatomy 15 Things That Have Happened That You Really Hate

Grey's Anatomy has been on the air for 13 seasons now and you've never missed a single episode. Maybe you have friends or family members that have long since given up on the show, claiming it has gotten too unrealistic, but you're never going to stop watching. Well, not until the series finale, of course, which you hope is a long time away from now. But just because you still call yourself a Grey's fan doesn't mean you love absolutely everything on the show. Unfortunately, there are storylines that you hate and characters that have left the show for one reason or another, and it still bugs you to this day. You can't please anyone no matter what art you're creating, so of course, you're not going to adore everything on any television show, and yet as a long-time fan, you think that you have a right to your opinion. Here are 15 things that have happened on Grey's Anatomy that you really hate.

    15 The Hospitals Merging

Okay, so two hospitals becoming one isn't a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. It could be so much worse. You just long for the good old days when there was just the old crew and that was it. You don't love new interns (and you don't think that anyone does, either) because the truth is that it can be really tough to remember their names. You can barely remember what they look like. Sorry not sorry. When Seattle Grace merged with Mercy West in the sixth season, that seemed like a pretty big transition in the show. That's around the point that a lot of people stopped tuning in because they just felt that it wasn't the same. You just get really nostalgic for the old days which is bound to happen when a show has been running for so long and so much has happened. Sigh. At least you can still go back and re-watch…

14 Bailey Being Stressed AF As Chief

You love Bailey. You really do. She's one of your favorite characters on the show (and favorite TV characters in general). You hate that she's so stressed since becoming Chief. You also have to admit that you think that Richard was a better Chief. Sorry Bailey. It's just that you don't seem to enjoy this role at all. In fact, you seem to completely hate it. Richard, on the other hand, absolutely loved being Chief and he was like the father figure of the hospital. He looked over everyone and wanted to make sure that everyone was doing well. It just doesn't feel the same since Richard stopped being Chief and you have to admit that. If only Bailey could admit that she's not enjoying her new role and go back to being a doctor. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, would it? No, it definitely wouldn't be. Sigh.

    13 Maggie's Mom Dying

Ok so maybe you already read the heading which kind of gives it away, but just in case you didn't catch on, this is a SPOILER if you are not up to date with the show. Ugh. This is one of the more recent things on this list and you really hate that this happened. Hasn't Maggie suffered enough?! She is the sweetest person ever and you don't want her to have to live without her lovely mom. Haven't enough bad things happened to every single person on this show? Is this because Maggie has been associating herself with Meredith and Meredith is cursed or something? Sorry Meredith, you're awesome but it's just a thought. And it's definitely not the craziest thought to have. There's definitely enough evidence. When you watched this recent scene, you literally couldn't believe your eyes. You couldn't figure out why this would happen when there's always been so much pain and suffering on this show.

12 April Sleeping With Jackson And Failing Her Exam

This was literally the worst… or at least one of the worst things that have happened on this show. When April takes her board exam, she totally fails. Not because she isn't meant to be a doctor. Because she sleeps with Jackson the night before. As a loyal fan of this show, it's really frustrating to watch this happen because you don't like this at all. Why didn't Jackson fail instead? That would be much better. It sucks that April let her feelings for a guy get in the way of her future career as a doctor. Sure, things worked out just fine (both with her doctor job and with Jackson… well, kind of with Jackson, but that's another story). But it would have been awesome if April had passed the first time that she took her board exams. This is just another example of things that have happened on Grey's that really bug you, no matter how many years have passed since you watched the scene or episode in question.

    11 Owen Having Night Terrors

You hate this because you love Owen and you think that he's one of the most adorable men out there. You don't want him to suffer, even though you know that no one's life is perfect and that since he's on this kind of show, of course he's going to deal with some hard times and some real pain. Since Owen is dealing with some serious PTSD when he's dating Cristina, it's really only a matter of time until his past catches up with him and starts to make his relationship difficult. You hate the scene when he almost chokes her because he wakes up freaking out. You definitely understand that this is a realistic portrayal of someone dealing with this issue. You just didn't want this to happen because it made you afraid of Owen, it made you afraid for Cristina, and it made you wonder if they were really meant to be together. And you definitely think that they were one of the best couples on the show.

    10 April Losing Her Baby

You know that April is meant to be a mother and that she's going to make a totally awesome one. That's why you really hate the episode when it becomes clear that she's losing her baby. It's just way too sad and you can't handle it. Of course, you're watching Grey's Anatomy and so you know that this is a place where bad things happen to really, really good people. You know this… and yet you always act super shocked when your favorite characters go through tough times. Sure, April now has a healthy and happy baby and everything seems good on that front, and yet the pain of her losing her previous baby is still a lot for you to take. Since that is also what caused the demise of her and Jackson's relationship, it's safe to say that you're not over it. Nope. And you probably never will be. What, you're supposed to just move on that fast?!

    9 Arizona And Callie's Break-Up

You miss seeing these two together and you hate that they had to break up. You also hate why they broke up. Arizona blamed Callie for the fact that she lost her leg in a plane crash?! Come on, Arizona. That is not Callie's fault. You have to know that. The more you think about the fact that these two have gone their separate ways, the more annoyed you feel. Are they ever going to get back together? You really doubt it since, well, Callie's not even on the show anymore. That sucks, too. You know that everyone loves Callie and Arizona as a couple and that every single fan would love to see them back together. Although you know that this probably will never happen, you can't help but hope. A girl can dream, right?! You're going to keep dreaming and wishing and hoping because you never know.

    8 Mark Dying

Let's have a moment of silence for McSteamy. When Mark died, it was the worst thing ever. Because he was the hottest guy in the hospital (well, he was tied with Derek). And because he was so sweet. He had grown up and become a father and he didn't seem like the dating-obsessed hunk that he was when you first saw him on the show. It was horrible learning that he had passed away and it gets even more terrible the more that you think about this. If you had to choose the moments that sucked the most on this show, it would be this one. Yeah, you get that this show has a lot of characters die and that's why it's such a juicy drama. It keeps your attention and you never want to miss an episode. But you miss Mark. You really and truly do. Sometimes you catch yourself thinking that he's still around and then remember and it's just the worst.

    7 Lexie Dying

Oh Lexie. As soon as Meredith accepted Lexie as her sister and they started to bond, Lexie died. Since she died at the same time as Mark, this was literally one of the saddest moments on the show. It would have been enough to lose one of them but losing both of them at the same time?! Horrible. Just horrible. You really hate that this happened because you think that the show should have kept Lexie alive. You like Maggie, you really do, but if you had to choose between Meredith's two half-sisters, you would have to go for Lexie. You just felt like they had a stronger connection and like they really could have become really close. Plus there is the fact that Lexie was just a really adorable person. You miss having her fun and cheerful energy around the hospital and you've never gotten over her tragic death.

    6 George Dying

George was the sweetest, most adorable guy on the show. You get that the actor wanted to leave and therefore his character pretty much had to die in order for that to make sense. You didn't want the show to do something like when Izzie supposedly moved away. You just had way too many questions after that storyline. When George died, it was really devastating, and it's a moment that you really hate. You still think about this sometimes because you miss the old hospital crew and George was one of the original interns along with Meredith, Alex, Izzie, and Cristina. Sure, you enjoy some of the newer characters like Arizona and Jackson and April, but you often long for the early seasons of Grey's when you had George around. He really brought a sweet element to the show and it was always funny to see who he was dating or crushing on.

    5 Jackson And April's Break-Up

Does anyone think that these two should have broken up?! You hate this as much as you hate April and Callie breaking up. It's just the worst. You can never figure out these two because they're really complicated but you think that they should just stay together… for real this time. You totally sided with April in this break-up since Jackson got so pissed off that she traveled far away to volunteer. Um, hello, Jackson, you two lost a baby and so April needed to get away and clear her head and heal. Didn't you need to heal?! It's really annoying that he acted this way and decided that they should break up. You just don't agree with this decision and you think that every Grey's fan totally agrees with you. It's always rough when your favorite TV couples go their own way, but this was one of the worst break-ups you've seen.

    4 Every Tragic Meredith Moment

Since Meredith is the POV of this series, she's a really important person to you, and you hate every single time that she goes through something really awful. That means that you basically hate every tragic Meredith moment. Which means that you hate a lot of the things that have happened on this show. Yeah, that's definitely true. She almost drowned, her best friend moved away, she lost her husband and one true love and soulmate and all that jazz, she lost family members, and oh yeah, she was beat up by a patient. If only one of these sad things happened to Meredith, it would be a lot. It's definitely way too much to handle when you add all of these tragic things up. Of course, the fact that you're upset about these moments proves that you care about her, and the entire point of a television series is that you care about the characters. So you're really just doing what you should be as a fan.

3 Meredith Pulling A Disappearing Act

When Derek dies, Meredith leaves town. Her friends and family have no idea where she has gone and it's really, really sad. You totally get that she's grieving and that everyone heals in their own way, but you hate that she did this because you felt for the hospital crew who missed her and worried about her. You're not sure if other fans feel the same way. Maybe some people think it was a smart creative move to speed up the time period after Derek's death so you knew that Meredith was basically away for an entire year. You're not sure how anyone could agree with that, though, because in your mind, this was a really awful moment. You hate that this happened to Derek… but you think that you hate that Meredith left town even more. Yup, that's what you think and you're not going to change your mind.

    2 Cristina Moving Away

Meredith has lost so much in her life and suffered so much. Did she really need her best friend to leave?! No, she didn't. She definitely didn't. You love Cristina so much and you have never gotten over her leaving the show. You miss her whenever you tune into the show and you always hope that she's going to show up in the hospital again so you can see her and Meredith dance it out one last time. No, the scene when they danced it out one last time wasn't enough for you, so that didn't count. Seriously, doesn't Meredith ever talk to Cristina? Don't they ever want to visit each other? No one seems to even remember that Cristina exists and no one ever seems to mention her, and this is something that really bugs you. Oh Cristina. You're missed all the time and you need to come back to the hospital ASAP and make things right again.

    1  Derek's Death

This is the crown jewel on the moments that you hate on Grey's Anatomy. How could it not be?! If you like the fact that Derek passed away, you're probably a crazy person. And you're not human. And you're the worst. When Derek died, it was impossible to handle. It was like losing someone really close to you in real life. You were totally shocked and stunned and surprised. You went through all the stages of grief and sometimes you think that you're still stuck at the denial stage. Yeah, you really are. You wish that Derek would come back and that it would have all been a bad dream. You would even settle for Derek coming back as a ghost. That would be really awesome. After all, there's been a ghost on this show before (#Denny). All this being said, you do love Grey's Anatomy with all your heart and can't wait to see what happens to your favorite characters. You just hope that you love it all.
