10 Years And Counting 12 Celeb Couples Who Have Been Together Forever

People like to claim that most marriages don't work out in Hollywood, but the following celeb couples have proven that wrong. And we mean extremely wrong. All of these couples have been together for over ten years… and one of them has even made it to 50. We rounded up some of their thoughts and advice about making it as a couple for the long haul, and a lot of them have similar responses which means they know what they're talking about. Here are 12 celeb couples who are still going strong after many years together.

12 Dolly Parton and Carl Dean

Dolly Parton and her husband Carl Dean just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The two supposedly met outside of a laundromat the day that Dolly first moved to Nashville and were married two years later. To celebrate their 50th the two had a renewal ceremony and donated the proceeds from the photos to charity. She has said, "If I had to do it all over, I'd do it all over again, and we did. I'm dragging him kicking and screaming into the next 50 years."

    11 Jerry And Jessica Seinfeld

Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld actually faced a bit of controversy when they first started their relationship, since Jessica had been engaged to someone else and the timing of her meeting Jerry led some people to believe that she made the swap for the money. But the two have been happily married since 1999, so that's probably not the case. Jessica claims she landed the comedian with her cooking: "Chicken parmesan! It's why Jerry wanted to marry me. It remains the glue of our family.”

    10 Denzel And Pauletta Washington

Denzel reportedly had to propose to Pauletta Washington before she finally married him in 1983, even though they had been dating since 1977. Denzel has said, "I don't know if it's show business that has a monopoly on divorce, it's just that you hear about it. I just think that you have to work at it. Not give up on each other. It's a commitment. It's not all the honeymoon, it doesn't last forever, so you work at it. And hopefully you're good friends first, that might help!" Sounds like pretty great advice to us.

9 Ben Stiller And Christine Taylor

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor first met thanks to the 1999 show Heat Vision and Jack, and they married a year later. Ben has said, "[Our] relationship was a gradual thing that happened over a quick period of time, maybe seven or eight months. We just started hanging out with each other and it developed into, 'Wow, this feels great. I really like this person. I think I love this person. I really do - I love this person.' It hit me out of the blue."

8 Tom Hanks And Rita Wilson

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson met on the set of Bosom Buddies and then married in 1988. Tom has said "we got married for all the right reasons."

7 Julia Louis-Dreyfus And Brad Hall

The Seinfeld star met Brad Hall when they were at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. They got married in 1987 and have been together ever since. Brad is a writer and an actor and the two actually collaborate quite often. When asked about the longevity of her marriage she has said that it was “good luck."

6 Michael J. Fox And Tracy Pollan

Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan have been married since 1988. They met when she was cast as his love interest on Family Ties and they got married in the middle of the releases of Back to the Future films. Tracy has discussed their incredibly long success, saying you have to assume that the other person supports you unconditionally and that you also have to laugh all the time.

5 Tina Turner And Erwin Bach

Tina Turner and Erwin Bach only got married in 2013… but they had been a couple for 27 years before that. In the past, they had discussed how they didn't need to technically tie the knot to feel like a married couple, but eventually they must have changed their minds. The two have been living in Switzerland for many years and got married in a civil ceremony with a Buddhist celebration at their home.

4 Will Smith And Jada Pinkett Smith

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith first met in 1994 when Jada auditioned to play Will's girlfriend on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. She did not get the role but the two definitely hit it off and became an official married couple in 1997. Will has said that the secret to marital success is not expecting it to come super easy, because you have to put in the work.

3 Sarah Jessica Parker And Matthew Broderick

The two actors met and started dating in 1991, and got married in 1997… and have stayed that way ever since. When asked about his advice on marriage longevity, Matthew has said: "We really are friends beyond everything else and we talk a lot. Keep talking I guess, I know how cliché that is. Too much silence is definitely not a good idea. She's really funny, she makes me laugh. That's good. I wish I had a better answer."

2 Hugh Jackman And Deborra-Lee Furness

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness got married in 1996 a year after they first saw each other. And, well, they clearly liked what they saw. He has spoken some incredibly sweet words about his wife: "It gets better and better, I can honestly say that. She's the greatest thing that ever happened to me. I'm kind of really grateful that I met her before anything kind of happened. Everything that's happened in my career and onscreen, offscreen, we've always done it together."

1 Meryl Streep And Don Gummer

When Meryl Streep was in her 20s, her serious boyfriend John Cazale passed away from cancer. She met Don Gummer pretty quickly after that tragedy, and they got married a year after meeting in 1978 (only six months after her boyfriend died). Despite some people's questions about how quickly she moved on, the two have been together ever since. In her 2012 Oscar acceptance speech for Best Actress in The Iron Lady she said: "First I'm going to thank Don, because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech they play him out with the music. And I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives you've given me." Awww.
