11 TV Shows We Wish Were Still On The Air
Now that we have Netflix, we understand what it's like to have serious show withdrawal. We sit down and watch shows for hours on end, finding out what happens and how the characters' lives played out. And in years past, it's something we waited for, only finding out a little bit of events at a time. Sometimes by the week, other times after entire months of downtime. What was even worst than that already terrible event, however, was once a show was canceled. When it went off the air once and for all. We still get tears in our eyes when thinking about Friends. Seinfeld shutting down makes us angry. And who was in charge of canceling Pan Am before we could even begin to know what happened in the story line? Really, who is in charge of canceling every show? Don't they know it should be more about money?!
11 30 Rock
It might not have been the most understood show of all time, but it was one of the smartest. And it made us laugh the hardest. Only now it's gone for good. Thankfully, it made room for our beloved Tina Fey to star in all kinds of different shows and movies (and writing them). But we still miss the rest of the gang. Besides, we're super bummed we didn't get to see her be a mom for longer than 30 seconds. Can we get a reunion, pretty please? Just make sure it's the good kind (like Fuller House) not the cheesy kind (Girl Meets World). We'll tune in, we swear.
10 Sabrina the Teenage Witch
We got a tiny dose of our former TGIF flame in Melissa and Joey, but it wasn't nearly enough. We miss Sabrina and all her crazy ways. In fact, we miss Melissa and Joey - sure it got a little flighty and thrown together in the end, but we still love it because we love them. We'll take one or the other, or better yet, both. Put MJH in it, and we'll pretty much tune in, no matter what kind of crap the TV is pumping out. Ideal scenario, however, is a Sabrina re-start - we might even fund the Kickstarter campaign.
9 Hart of Dixie
When the main character wants to quit, there's no longer a show to be had, apparently. Even though there are way more people who could have kept carrying the theme. We need to know what happened to each of them, obviously. Who ended up with George Tucker? And why did Magnolia just disappear one day? And show up like nothing happened? Did Brick ever chill out, for good? Is there actually going to be a spin off? We have some burning questions, CW, and we're turning to you in order to make them happen, as in STAT.
8 Dexter
Not only did Dexter end, it finished up with the worst show ending in the history of the world, IMO. Not only because of what happened - it wasn't our choice, but we could have dealt - but because it was all so rushed. It's like they had 20 more things happening than there was time to do, and instead of just cutting out the ridiculous, they shoved it all together. It was a terrible way to see it all turn out. Because if we were going to lose you, Dexter, it at least could have been in a way that wasn't so absolutely painful.
7 Malcolm in the Middle
Have you seen this show lately? Even if you watched it as a kid, it's time for a re-viewing. Your life will be forever changed; it has a different meaning entirely. For every single character in the show. (Especially now that there are fan theories linking it to Breaking Bad… the verdict is still out on that one.) Either way, it would have been nice to see just how crazy/normal these young men grew up to be. For now it looks as though recurring re-runs will be about as good as it's going to get.
6 Pushing Daisies
We barely got any time with this show before it was slapped with a cancelation. We need to know what happened though. What was the secret behind Ned's power to bring dead folks back to life? How did he learn 60 seconds was all he got? Did he and Chuck make it work even though they couldn't talk? There are so many questions and not nearly enough time to have enjoyed it all. It's high time some exec got happy about their throwback ways and gave it another try. We'll be there watching the entire time, we promise.
5 House
As shows end, we have to admit that they did a pretty great one with House. I'm not even sure they could have wrapped it up any nicer. But just because it was well written doesn't mean we were ready to stop watching our favorite characters. What even happened to them? Did Cuddy end up happy? Did House reappear as a doctor after Wilson passed away? Did he show up to off 13 like he promised he would? Once her suffering got too bad? Who's to tell? Our imaginations aren't enough, we want the real thing to enjoy every single week.
4 Arrested Development
Yes, it came back. But there was such a gap in time that it wasn't quite the same. Besides it's such a game of politics that we never know exactly what's going to happen. Is it going for another season? Or isn't it? We still, to this day, aren't quite sure what's going down with this show. Thankfully we still have re-runs to remind us of just how awesome it is. But please, if you come back on the air, AD, make sure it's for good. We can't handle another break up, our poor souls won't be able to take it.
3 Better Off Ted!
So clever! So funny! So sad when it was canceled, and so quickly! We felt your pain, Ted. We got the corporate struggle and we respected your constant tact. We wanted to keep watching you live your life. And see what other types of shenanigans the developers got into. How inappropriate your boss could be. If you and Linda could make it work. Was she ever charged for those personal calls? (Like in the days before cell phones?) So many unanswered questions, with the biggest one being why you were even canceled in the first place. You did not deserve it.
2 Chuck
We loved the show Chuck for many reasons. Mostly, that he was an average guy who was shoved into a not-so-average situation. One that made him lie constantly. But it did make his life pretty exciting. Did he ever get safe? Or outed once and for all? Why did they take you from us before we could see how your life would become? If we were in charge of TV schedules, you'd still be safely on the air, and sharing your favorite stories with us every week. At least we can dream of you Chuck, our favorite IT nerd.
1 Everything From Nickelodeon in the 90s
All That, Keenan and Kel, Are you Afraid of the Dark?, Hey Arnold, Salute Your Shorts - we could go on and on. And we could keep watching all of them. So far the network's fix has been to play them at night on some obscure channels, but we're telling you, Nickelodeon, it's not nearly enough. Bring back the shows - even if only on Netflix. One option here and there just isn't enough. We need to reunite with our childhood and we need to do it as often as possible. Besides, there's an entire generation that needs caught up on all that these shows have to offer.
