15 Hot Celebs And Their Unlikely Partners

In Hollywood, it seems that like very often attracts like. After all, there's nothing but absolutely gorgeous male actors with six-pack abs and piercing eyes, and women with silky hair, traffic-stopping curves, and gorgeous features. Sometimes, you have to wonder just how good-looking any children that celeb couples bring into the world might be - I mean, it's just not fair!

However, every now and then, there's a celebrity couple that makes you stop for a moment and quirk an eyebrow. Sometimes, it's because one partner is subjectively far more attractive than the other - an 11 dating a 4 or 5, for example. Sometimes, it's because the two just seem like individuals from such polar opposite ends of the personality spectrum that you can't imagine what they must talk about. Sometimes, it's that a celebrity foregoes the bounty of actors and actresses constantly surrounding them and gets together with a totally regular person. At the end of the day, though, you can never judge a book by its cover, and celebrities have far more going on in their private lives that they don't disclose to the public.

Sometimes, what's meant to be is meant to be - even if it might not seem like the obvious pairing. Here are 15 hot celebs and their unlikely partners.

15 Christina Hendricks and Geoffrey Arend

Everyone knows who Christina Hendricks is. After she snagged the role of Joan Holloway in Mad Men and showed up on everyone's television screens in figure-hugging pencil skirts spouting sassy one-liners, people became obsessed with the buxom red-head. However, you'll often see her on the red carpet with one curly-haired man in particular - Geoffrey Arend. While Arend has been in the entertainment industry for over a decade, he has definitely not scored the same notoriety as his A-List wife. On the surface, they seem like a mismatch - she's ultra-glamorous with crazy curves and traffic-stopping red hair, while he's a totally normal-looking guy with glasses. Hendricks describes him as “old-fashioned and kind and dreamy,” so she's obviously smitten.

14 Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser

Speaking of Mad Men - on the show, Vincent Kartheiser's character Pete Campbell had a crazy hot wife, played by Alison Brie, and it seems that life imitates art in his case. In real life, he is married to the gorgeous Alexis Bledel, best known for her years on the hit television series Gilmore Girls. Bledel has kept her dating life out of the public eye, with the exception of when she dated her co-star Milo Ventimiglia for a number of years, so everyone was pretty surprised when she tied the knot with Kartheiser in 2014. Jon Hamm must have taught his co-star some smooth moves.

13 Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard

On the surface, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are a complete mismatch. While she's taken on her fair share of comedic roles, she's basically the quintessential petite bubbly blonde with gorgeous blue eyes. Dax, on the other hand, is… well, gangly and not conventionally attractive. The two seem like an unlikely pairing when they're captured in photographs, but on video, you can see exactly why they're a happy couple - they're both huge goofballs who just love to have fun. Check out their iconic video “Dax and Kristen Do Africa” if you want a glimpse into their relationship.

12 Hayden Panettiere and Wladimir Klitschko

Actresses date athletes all the time, but there's one particular actress/athlete pairing that's just strange - Hayden Panettiere and her boxer husband Wladimir Klitschko. Now, the two seem fairly different personality-wise, with Panettiere appearing very bubbly and outgoing in her interviews while he remains the strong and silent type, but you just have to take a look at them standing next to one another to understand why they're a bit of an unlikely pair. She's 5'0 and very petite, while Klitschko is 6'6 with muscles galore. I mean, she looks like a doll he owns when they're walking together holding hands. However, the two are happy together with an adorable baby, so apparently their differences work!

11 Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney

This unlikely pairing has nothing to do with physical appearances - both Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are totally gorgeous. However, let's just take a moment to consider their personalities. Gaga is known for wearing absolutely insane costumes and crafting crazy, thrilling, spectacles on stage. Taylor Kinney, on the other hand, is a fairly quiet and humble handsome leading man known for appearing in television dramas like Chicago Fire. However, Gaga's on-stage personality isn't quite the same as what she brings home to her man - according to comments she made on SiriusXM's The Morning Mash Up, when the monster heels come off, she's just a devoted partner who dotes on her man. Who would've guessed?

10 Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen

Isla Fisher is a spunky red-head who, though she's gorgeous enough for leading lady status, truly shines in comedic roles. Sacha Baron Cohen is… well, Sacha Baron Cohen. He's completely over-the-top and favours characters that are often so bold they're offensive to some. However, apparently laughter is enough to keep a relationship strong - the duo have been married for over 5 years, together for over a decade, and have three children together. I mean, this is a woman who literally smuggled Baron Cohen's costume backstage when he was banned from stepping onto the Oscars stage as Ali G. That's love.

9 Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Liam Payne

Okay, both Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (formerly Cole) and Liam Payne are gorgeous. Both have super successful careers in the pop music industry. Both are from the UK. However, whether it's because of the age difference, or because they just seem to be in such different spots in their life, the internet pretty much broke when it was leaked that they might be together. Once Payne started posting shots of himself cuddling with Cheryl, people pretty much figured out that they were a confirmed item. The British princess of pop could have her pick of just about any man on the market, so her decision to go for a pop star in his 20s was surprising. Hey, whatever works - maybe she just wanted a break from middle-aged men and all their drama!

8 Sophie Dahl and Jamie Cullum

It sounds almost like the title of a romantic comedy - The Supermodel and the Jazz Singer. However, in Sophie Dahl and Jamie Cullum's case, it's real life. Lately, Dahl makes her living as a writer, cookbook author and television personality, but back when she was starting out, she had a successful career as a supermodel. As you might guess, she stands at about 5'11. Her husband of over five years, singer Jamie Cullum, in contrast, is only 5'4. When you consider that Dahl generally shows up on the red carpet in heels that add a few inches to her already statuesque frame, you can imagine just how jarring the two are together. However, the two appear to be crazy in love - musicians always get the girls.

    7 Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Samantha Taylor-Johnson

When people think of men in the entertainment industry who date women far older than them, Ashton Kutcher and his former relationship with Demi Moore is pretty much the first one that comes to mind. However, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and his wife Samantha Taylor-Johnson are the new Ashton and Demi in Hollywood. You might recognize Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the protagonist in the Kick Ass films, and the rising star snagged a role in the film Nowhere Boy when he was 19. Samantha Taylor-Wood (now Samantha Taylor-Johnson), who was 42 at the time, was the director of the film. A spark ignited on set, and the two were engaged shortly after, and now have two children together. While the age difference of over 20 years makes them a bit of an unlikely couple, they definitely seem happy and suited for one another.

    6 Lorde and James Lowe

Lorde is one of the biggest stars in the music industry right now, an ordinary teen from New Zealand who captivated the world with her insane vocals and unique style. Looking at Lorde, you definitely wouldn't expect her to date a typical Hollywood surfer guy, but her long-time boyfriend is a surprising choice. James Lowe, a photographer who is several years Lorde's senior, has been at the butt of a lot of criticism due to fans feeling like he's not quite the perfect match for the young superstar. However, Lorde appears to be crazy in love with her beau, so who cares what everyone else says?

5 Tina Fey and Jeff Richmond

Though she's more known for her witty writing and comedic characters, let's be honest - Tina Fey is kind of a fox. She's definitely got the sexy librarian vibe going on thanks to her trademark glasses, and she's a delight in pretty much every role she's in. When it comes to her partner in real life, though, she doesn't really go for the polished Hollywood type. Her husband of over 10 years, Jeff Richmond, is a composer, director, actor and producer who has brought his musical talents to several of his wife's shows, including 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Okay, there's a little bit too much talent in this marriage - it's not fair to the rest of us.

4 Jesse Williams and Aryn Drake-Lee

While Jesse Williams first stepped into the scene in 2006 with a few small television roles, he was catapulted to superstardom when he snagged the role of Dr. Jackson Avery on Shonda Rhimes' smash hit Grey's Anatomy. With his caramel skin and piercing blue eyes, he pretty much immediately became a favourite of female fans, who were left asking - McDreamy who? Bring on Dr. Avery! Many handsome Hollywood actors opt to date young actresses, but Williams went in an entirely different direction - his partner, Aryn Drake-Lee, is a real estate broker. That's right - while her sexy hubby is filming one of the juiciest dramas of the past decade, she's working a regular job. To be honest, it kind of makes us love Jesse Williams even more - and the two are absolutely adorable together on the red carpet.

3 Sarah Drew and Peter Lanfer

If we're talking about the unlikely real-life partners of the Grey's Anatomy cast, we absolutely have to mention Sarah Drew. You may remember Drew as the lovable Dr. April Kepner on the show, but like her co-star Jesse Williams, she didn't fall for another actor. Instead, she married Peter Lanfer, a lecturer of Jewish Studies who teaches at Dartmouth College. Kepner is married to a real life doctor (although he has a PhD, not an MD), and the duo have been happily married since 2002 and have two children together.

2 Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy

Once she passed her California girl teenage years and became a haute couture New York type who smoked endless cigarettes and drank Starbucks coffees the size of her torso, the public pretty much figured she wouldn't be getting together with a golden-haired surfer boy. However, we kind of assumed she would find an edgy indie rocker or something like that. Instead, she married French banker Olivier Sarkozy, who is about triple her size and 15 years her senior. Hey, the heart wants what it wants.

1 Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden

Cameron Diaz is basically the quintessential cool California surfer girl. While she can definitely get all dolled up for red carpet events, in her daily life, she tends to favour a far more casual look. She's had several high-profile partners, but the one who finally put a ring on it was none other than rocker Benji Madden, a.k.a. pretty much the last person anyone would have ever imagined Cameron Diaz getting together with. On the other hand, Benji's twin brother Joel snagged Nicole Richie, another unlikely pairing, so maybe it's just something about those Madden boys.
